- Personality: Kurai, in life, was a fierce man who believed in survival of the fittest. Never the type to accept failure or weakness, Kurai sought to create a clan of only the strongest and purest of warriors. This wasn't to say that he didn't have a softer side when it came to women and children, or even friendship. This philosophy simply emphasized the importance of being strong, and making those around you strong. Kurai outright refused to aid people who did not show the determination and pride to solve their own problems, to grow from their trials, and thus, become stronger and better through it.

This philosophy bred many problems with his peers, and as such, he was typically viewed as a man of extremes, both in a negative and positive light. His attitude towards self improvement and the improvement of others brought many people to his side, and turned many against him as well. As such, Kurai has always been loyal to those who showed their loyalty to him, but is no stranger to betrayal, and tends to be leery of some individuals for the entirety that he knows them. Some others, however, Kurai will take too quickly and naturally. It has been known that his sense of character is usually very accurate. But, he is only mortal, and mistakes were made now and then in this regard.

After becoming a hollow, his opinions haven't changed terribly. Kurai still believes strongly in making himself stronger, however, when it comes to devouring souls to keep himself alive, his sense of self-preservation intensified substantially. For a long while after becoming a hollow, he was unfortunately unable to find anyone that he could trust, be they hollow or otherwise. As such, he became rather reclusive, aiming to avoid contact with anyone unless he was going to feed. The last few hundred years or so, however, Kurai has become more oriented towards group behavior, seeking out others that are like him. After living as a hollow for a few hundred years, he discovered how despised his kind were, and began seeking the destruction of those who despised him simply because he was a hollow.

Childhood (1461-1479)

Seifuku, Kurai[Approved 2-5] Portrait_of_anime__black_skinned_boy__by_sunoflove-d5r9fau_zpscfdc9589
"A Samurai's Legacy." Circa 1469

Kurai was born in the year 1461, in the beginning of the Sengoku Period of Japan. Born to a samurai father, and a peasant mother, Kurai was not by any means of the upper class. Commoner was a word that would often be used to describe those who lived by their means, obtaining only what they needed to survive, while working their hands to the bone every day. Kurai's mother, Nagasa worked in the fields from sun up to sun down, then would come home to care for her two children. Kurai's father, Gintaro, however, spent the majority of his time away from the home. It was common during this era for the samurai of the local Daimyo to be away for several weeks or even months at a time. This would often leave Kurai to fend for himself, while also caring for his younger sister.

During his youth, and truthfully throughout the majority of his life, Kurai spent the majority of his free time training, this involved physical exercise, mental exercises via reading and calligraphy, and of course, practice with his bokken. The training with his bokken began at age 8, and continued throughout the majority of his childhood. This bokken was passed down in the generations of his family. Old and worn down, it still served it's purpose splendidly, allowing the young boy to learn the way of the sword whilst putting himself and any sparring partners at minimal risk of harm.

At the age of 12, Kurai became heavily absorbed into the world of the samurai, and the feud occurring all around him. The various clans attempting to unite the country under a single banner, caused a near constant state of war in the land, drowning the many women and children in a sense of terror that their village could at any time become a battleground. Desiring to protect his family and his village, along with his desire to become a great swordsman in general, Kurai trained diligently every day and night. With every passing of the sun and moon, the young man could feel himself growing stronger and more skillful. It wasn't long at all until he considered himself skillful enough to protect his village and defeat any foe he may encounter.

Unfortunately, this feeling of arrogance would lead him to his first loss in battle, as well as a reminder of not only his failure, but of the price of arrogance. At the age of 15, Kurai discovered that a village east of his home was the next battle ground of the great war that raged around them. Eager to show his peers and elders that he could handle himself, and in his own words "Defeat any challenger that dares to raise his blade to me", Kurai traveled to the nearby village, seeking out the various swordsman that had gathered there. The current battle was between two clans, both of which weren't well known at the time. The clans were known as the Harikana Clan, and the Irikonji Clan. Both clans were rather notorious in the region for being unnecessarily aggressive.

Kurai confronted both clans upon his arrival, doing battle with a few men from the different clans. While Kurai was arrogant, he was also a skillful swordsman, and was able to easily defeat the three men he combated. However, as he was about to learn, there is always someone better. A man named Kenji, belonging to the Irikonji clan was a renowned swordsman whom had traveled frequently across the country, defeating easily a hundred different men during his travels. Kurai, being a young man, and lying about his age at that, believed the older man to be wore out. Allowing this assumption to cloud his mind, he underestimated his foe, much to his dismay. The veteran Kenji easily defeated Kurai, impaling him with his katana as easily as a gale moves a blade of grass.

Fortunately for Kurai, however, Kenji was lenient, and didn't wish to end the life of one so young. The young man escaped his brush with death with only a small scar on his chest, being taken care of by the town's doctor. Upon recovering, Kurai viewed swordsmanship with a new perspective, and learned to show more respect to his opponents. After this battle, Kurai never met the man Kenji again. The now enlightened young man returned home after a week of recovery. Nagasa was overcome with relief that her son had survived, but didn't fail to scold him until her face turned blue. Kurai was told the morning after that the entire village could hear his mother's screams, which just made his failure all the more embarrassing.

Kurai continued to train hard, doubling his efforts while making his regime all the more strenuous and challenging, ensuring that he would continue to grow stronger, and never grow stagnant. This training continued for the next few years, with the occasional aid from his father and a few of his peers. Within the next couple years, the war that had been plaguing the country had ended, and for a time, the land had become peaceful again. Gintaro returned home for what was to be a permanent stay, his form of retirement, as it were. But then, in this land of blood and steel, peace never lasted long. Soon enough, the country would be plunged into another war, and the men of the village would again begin to die in the name of men they would seldom, if ever, see. This time, however, Kurai himself would be involved in the conflict.

The Rōnin War (1479-1489)

Seifuku, Kurai[Approved 2-5] KambeiYoung_zps40dee82d
"A Family in Mourning." Circa 1480

Upon entering adulthood, Seifuku Kurai had become a gifted swordsman, and an accomplished fighter in his own right. By the age of nineteen, the young man had already fought a hundred battles, many of which ended in the death of his foes. A battle that didn't end in death was a rare occurrence, but it was always a welcome one. In truth, Kurai always enjoyed the battles, but he never took pleasure or joy in the deaths of his foes. As a means to strengthen himself overall, and to use a method of combat that isn't necessarily fatal, Kurai began developing and learning martial arts. By doing this, he found all the more ways to fight unarmed, but also enhanced his abilities with a sword.

During his nineteenth year, Gintaro was slain in battle, having been pulled into yet another conflict. This conflict became known as "The Rōnin War" due to it primarily being fought by samurai who weren't pledged to a Daimyo, or a lord of any status. Gintaro himself was considered such, as the Daimyo of their region had been slain the year prior to the start of the war. This conflict quickly erupted into one of the bloodiest wars in the country's history as clan after clan fought for the right to rule and unify the nation. It wasn't long at all before Kurai himself became involved in the conflict. A clan from his past had reared it's head in his village, none other than the Irikonji Clan.

The Irikonji Clan had been searching for skilled swordsmen to join their clan to bolster their numbers, claiming that they sought to unify the land and to bring peace to the country. Kurai sought an end to the conflict, but also sought to improve himself and protect his people. So, with no small amount of reluctance, Kurai joined with the Irikonji Clan, pledging himself to the glory of his brothers in arms. Thus began the long war that would bring about much of Kurai's later beliefs in life and and his afterlife both, as well as the opening of his eyes to how cruel and bloody the world really was. In the beginning, the young warrior truly believed he was protecting those he cared for, as well as his fellow countrymen. It wouldn't be for another several years that he would discover that the truth of the matter, was that he was killing his own people, even if they were under a different banner. All of the people of Japan were his people. All of the people in the world were his people.

Three years into the war, Kurai found himself a matured man at the age of twenty-two, nearing his prime. The war had already been the bloodiest chapter of his life so far, having slain as many in six months as he had the entire span of his life before then. The Irikonji Clan had claimed several territories within the country by this time, and only a few clans still claimed more than a single territory. Every day and night, Kurai would fight, slaying foe after foe until his arms would be numb from steel clashing with steel, his fingers pruned from the blood of the dead, and his body wracked with pain from the countless blows he had received. This cycle continued for longer than he had cared to count, having lost track of the months and even seasons. Another four years would pass before this hellish cycle broke in any way. Kurai, a man of honor had become so accustomed to killing and fighting for his life, he had nearly forgotten that he was human.

The year is now 1487, and "The Rōnin War" rages on. The country is drowning in the blood of it's people, and nameless blades and bodies alike litter the ground. Kurai has become a masterful fighter, both with a blade and without, earning himself the title "White Dragon" from his allies and enemies alike, due to his combination of ferocity and purity in battle. Many would say that his battle cry was deafening, and his blade would be only a flash as it sliced through the air and his foes. It was even once said (in jest) that the white light people claimed a man would see before he died was simply Kurai the White Dragon standing over them. These tales, while exaggerated, gave him a reputation as a deadly adversary, and not only attracted more numbers to the Irikonji Clan, but also pushed two clans as a whole to disband and join the Irikonji Clan.

By this time, the entire country of Japan is separated into only two clans and a small outlying territory in the east, where a group of extremely skilled swordsman lay claim. Within this small territory is Kurai's home village, where his mother and younger sister remain, waiting for the war to end, and their son and brother to come home. It doesn't take long for the Irikonji Clan to defeat the final clan, capturing each territory belonging to the other clan one at a time. As time passed, Kurai felt less and less sure of what the clan be belonged to was just. The warriors were constantly fighting one another. Every day there would be more men dead, and worse, many of the supposed samurai held no belief in the code of the samurai. Bushido had no meaning to them, and so, in the eyes of Kurai, they were not only false samurai, but they were nothing but savage beasts.

In truth, Kurai had known for some time that many of the men had little to no honor, but the goal of uniting the country was his primary concern. However, as more of the country fell under the Irikonji Clan's control, their crimes and injustices became more common and unforgivable. Finally, he could take no more. One evening, he discovered a small group of men attempting to take advantage of a young woman. After she refused their advances, they savagely beat and violated the woman. Upon discovering the scene, Kurai flew into a rage. Of all the injustices he had encountered, none had sickened him on a more personal level than this. In his rage, Kurai killed them all, beating them into the dirt before finally cleaving their heads from their shoulders. As an example, and still fueled by his rage, he stuck their heads on spears and planted one in each separate territory under the clan's control as a reminder to all who would violate the laws of the unified country.

Unfortunately, even with the example set, the crimes became worse and more frequent. The false samurai had laid claim to the land, aside from the small rogue territory that the clan still seemed to fear invading. The men who were still permitted by the clan to carry swords misused them, either killing in cold blood or using them as tools to steal and torture. Kurai awoke as if from a dream to discover that instead of a world filled with war, he now lived in a war filled with injustice and chaos. More than war, he despised what the country had become. More than death, he feared the country that he so loved becoming a cesspool of villainy and sins that could never be cleansed. So, late one night, under the stars, Kurai vowed to eliminate the Irikonji Clan. An unified land was far better than one ruled by chaos and beasts.

Kurai fled the Irikonji clan, leaving behind the people he had once called comrades, returning to his childhood home. Upon returning to the village, he was greeted with mixed emotions. From some he was respected as a samurai and a just man, from others he was called a demon who lived only to end the lives of others. These claims did not bother him. In fact, he was completely indifferent to being called a murder and a demon. Kurai saw no reason to deny or justify the things he had done. The man himself would openly say that he was a killer. The number of lives his blade had taken was impossible to count, the sorrow sown from each swing of the cold steel immeasurable. Though, with each enemy he killed, he felt sadness. Never regret or remorse, only a sadness for the life that he was forced to end.

Even with the accusations of being a monster and just about anything else a man could find insulting, Kurai felt at home. Many of the people he had known from his childhood were still in the village. However, as he discovered not long after arriving, his family, both mother and sister, were long since dead. Overcome with grief, Kurai stayed in his childhood home for several days. During this time, he did nothing but stare at the stars through the window, imagining them as the memories that were just out of his reach. Each speck of light that he could see represented a lost memory of his family, all of them replaced by grisly scenes of war. As far as Kurai could tell, he really was a murderer. There were no pleasant memories left for him. No more future that could yield happiness. There was only the screams of dead men, and the bloodshed yet to come.

Way of the White Dragon (1490-1496)

Seifuku, Kurai[Approved 2-5] Kambei5_zpsb121d29a
Seifuku, Kurai. Circa 1495 (Last known depiction during his life.)

Less than a year later, Kurai again left his home, deciding to become a wandering samurai. His purpose; to find a new reason for being. No matter how hard he would try, the warrior could not hide his desire for battle, and to test his strength against others. Additionally, it was during this nomadic period that his tendency to only help those who help themselves. The philosophy revolved around strengthening oneself through hardship, seeking every possible opportunity to better oneself. This also involved creating personal goals and challenges, as well as challenging those around them in order to strengthen the group (if any) as a whole. Weaknesses of any kind is not tolerated, and often, severely punished. This methodology of self improvement and training, as well as the philosophy itself, became known as the "Way of the White Dragon."

Many things happened during these nomadic years, including great advances in his technique, as well as the development of other skills. While fighting remained very much a part of his life, Kurai saw fit to improve his mind and life by engaging in activities of peace as well. These activities included writing, calligraphy, poetry, and meditation. In fact, during those five years, Kurai finished a small book of poetry, and even a short book on a method of sword fighting that involved mixing martial arts in with the use of the blade that prioritized up close combat, focusing on remaining no more than 6 inches away from the opponent at a time.

After wandering for the better part of five years, Kurai found himself in a small village that he had never been to before. Within this village, the Irikonji Clan was a strong force, and controlled everything. While it was true that the clan technically still controlled nearly the entire country, the Daimyo still had primary control over the past four to five years. This village in particular was worse than the others he had seen in a long while. The streets were ridden with the poor, desolate, and dying. Children lay starving in the streets, my were fighting behind buildings and within them, women were huddled into corners, dressed only in rags that appeared to have been torn repeatedly, and were adorned with nothing else but bruises and cuts.

The sheer site of the village was enough to drive Kurai into a foul mood, reminding him of the atrocities that the clan had committed in the past and continued to commit. The rage slowly swirled inside him until it became a typhoon of hatred and disgust. During his time in this village, he found another turning point in his life, another sign of what to do with himself when he discovered a young man, no older than sixteen who was being attacked by a small group of men. At first, Kurai simply watched them beat the boy, until the men finally noticed him no more than ten feet away from them. At first, they told him to mind his own business, and the boy pleaded for help. Kurai refused to help someone who wasn't willing to fight for their life, but that didn't mean he wouldn't give him the opportunity to. After all, it was four against one.

"If you want to live, fight for your life. If you fight, fight to kill. If you are not willing to take life in defense of your own, then you may as well forfeit it." Then, Kurai threw a knife on the ground near the boy. After encouraging the boy, telling him to kill those who threatened to kill him. To make himself strong enough to stay alive, he would have to take the lives of those who threatened him. The boy, filled with a vigor that Kurai hadn't seen in so long, the boy retaliated, killing one of the men with the knife. When the others tried to flee, Kurai stopped them, knocking them to the ground while ordering them to finish what they started. If they wanted to fight him, wanted to hurt or kill him, they should have expected him to fight back.

The boy killed two of the others, leaving only two of them. At this point, Kurai demanded the knife back, stating that now it was just the two of them. Whoever was stronger, whoever had the greatest desire to survive would be the winner. After a grueling fight, the boy proved to be the stronger, beating the man until his own fists were busted open, and his hands were covered in the man's blood. When Kurai went to leave, the boy stopped him, asking him to be his teacher. The boy pleaded that Kurai help him become strong. To help him find a purpose for his life. With hesitation, Kurai agreed. The boy finally introduced himself as Zeima, claiming that he never had a family name. With that, Kurai decided that he would bring in more people to his way of life. Thus, the philosophy that would later be known as the Way of the White Dragon was born.

This continued on for another two years. Kurai traveled all across the country, taking in disciples and allies alike, creating his own clan to combat the horrid chaos of the Irikonji Clan. In two years, Kurai's White Dragon Clan had grown to be more than a hundred strong. It showed that Kurai's powerful abilities were accented by his strong aura as a leader, and his natural ability to persuade others to see his way. From there, he could see the future before him in the stars. Kurai standing proud over the burning banner of the Irikonji Clan with his brothers in arms, with his country finally being united under a just ruler. Even if it was an ambitious goal, he felt strongly that it was a worthwhile one.

The Battle of Amakasagi (1497)

Seifuku, Kurai[Approved 2-5] Kambei4_zps2ea8cbce
"White Dragon Kurai at Amakasagi." Circa 1500 (First official use of the title.)

The year 1497 was a turning point for the entire country. While true that the wars for the unification of the country were far off, the White Dragon Clan played a pivotal role in the formation of the clans and families that would later unite the nation. Seifuku, Kurai had amassed a clan of more than a hundred and fifty men in just under three years. Few examples have been displayed in history that such a formidable force was brought together in such a short amount of time. This rag tag group of samurai and swordsmen, peasants and nobles, beggars and kings, formed an army that proved to be able to hold their own against armies more than twice their size.

For three months, Kurai's forces struggled to break the initial line into the Irikonji Clan's territory. With great effort and determination, the line finally broke, with Kurai's forces only losing a fraction of their number. With a combination of guerrilla tactics, more skillful swordsmen, and desertion in the enemy's ranks, the White Dragon Clan fought through enemy territory. It took just over six months for the White Dragon Clan to arrive at the capitol of the Irikonji Clan's territory. A city named Amakasagi. Gathering all of his remaining men, numbering just over a hundred samurai, Kurai pushed to end this conflict and the chaotic rule of the Irikonji Clan, assaulting the city in a single massive battle.

The battle lasted roughly five days, and by the end, not a single member of The White Dragon Clan remained. Through sheer determination, the severely outnumbered force managed to decimate the city, and wiped out nearly half of the enemy army that numbered five hundred or more. Kurai himself was killed in the battle, dying at the age of thirty six to an enemy officer's blade. It is said that Kurai knew he was going to die that day. Claims persist into the modern day that the man claimed to have seen spirits for an entire week before the battle took place. Kurai claimed that the spirits were of men he had killed in the past, warning him that he too would be dead soon.

Others say that Kurai claimed to have seen the spirits of his family, calling him to the afterlife to be with them. No one knows for sure, but many stories surrounding the days leading up to his death involve spirits of the dead, and men that were clad in black clothing, seeking to claim his soul. A particularly interesting story is that he was plagued by visions of monstrous creatures in the days leading up to his death, and some superstitious people believe that those creatures existed, and were actually partially if not entirely responsible for his death. Regardless of all the stories, the fact remains that this lone samurai from a time nearly forgotten, shall remain buried in the past, dead and gone as a man barely remembered.

Seifuku, Kurai[Approved 2-5] Kambei3_zpsba5b2811
Kurai as a Plus (Whole)

After his death, Kurai awoke on the battlefield in which he had died. The strange part was, he remembered dying. He could clearly remember taking his last few breaths, and everything around him fading to black as he looked up at the man that had saved him from being devoured by that monster. The battlefield seemed abandoned. It was a long stretch of field leading into the small city of Amakasagi. Of course, now, it wasn't water that the ground absorbed, it was blood. The field was covered in blood, bodies, and remnants of samurai gear. Kurai couldn't count the number of bodies. He tried. Every time he got anywhere though, he lost focus. It was a strange feeling. Something was nagging at him. Something was telling him that he needed to do something, to finish something he had started.

Of course, that didn't make sense. After all, he was dead, right? He knew he was dead. So what was going on? That was when he noticed the chain sticking out of his chest. A swift feeling of panic washed over him, only to be replaced slowly by curiosity. What was with all of this? What was going on? In the distance, he could see inside the city, wounded men being carried in, people conversing on the street, ignoring the field as if it didn't exist. All the more peculiar, he could see several other man standing or wandering around the field. They all looked aimless, much like he felt. When he called to them, they didn't respond, and only a couple of them even bothered to look his way. Were they lost in despair? Were they dead like him? The people at the city he called too ignored him. Or, maybe they didn't hear him.

Feeling there was nothing else to do, he began to walk towards the city. Oddly, he felt heavy when he moved, like his feet didn't want to leave the soil beneath him. It was only to get stranger. Once he almost reached the outskirts of the city, he was stopped. Something wouldn't let him go further. When he finally manged to force himself a step further, everything around him shifted instantly, and he found himself right back in the middle of the field. Well, if there had been any doubt, it was gone now. He was a spirit after all. Trapped in this field of hell that he had died in. But for what reason? What could there be? Why had he been in that field to begin with? Oh yes, that was right. The memories came back to him. He and his men were trying to overthrow the corrupt and atrocious clan that had been controlling everything.

From there, he further concluded that he would likely be haunting this field forever. What a lonely and meager existence. The thought of being stuck there, having to watch the horrid regime that he had been trying to remove thrive was enough to make him physically ill, at least, it would be if he could get physically ill. He could feel his anger building, then he would feel upset and depressed. This became a constantly recurring cycle for the next fifty years. It astounded him how much time had passed. In truth, he had no idea how much time had passed. A lot happened in that time. Including the destruction of the clan that he had fought so hard against. But, much to his dismay, watching them crumble in front of him wasn't enough to release him from the burden. For some reason, he still couldn't pass on. Why? Was his death just too traumatic or what?

As more time passed, he could feel the chain attached to his chest shortening, and worse, there was an agonizing pain involved as it got closer. It took another forty years of this pain intensifying before the creatures finally were about to reach the end of the chain. This pain coming to an end sounded good to him, yet at the same time, that natural fear of the unknown returned. What would happen to him once the chain was gone? Would he finally pass on? Or would he be sent to hell? There was no way of knowing. So, suffering through the pain, he watched the last link be devoured, and then he experienced a burst of energy, some strange feeling washing over him, along with the worst pain he could ever remember experiencing.

There's a Hole Where Something Was (1497-Present)

Kurai's Basic Hollow Form

The first thing that came to mind was food. Or rather, a sudden and ravenous hunger. Then came the realization that the pain had stopped. Taking in his surroundings, he was in the same field as he was, but he felt somewhat bulky compared to how he had, and something was on his face, some kind of a mask. Was that what it was? Yeah, that must have been it. That hunger, he couldn't place what it was for. Until the word just popped into his mind. Souls. He was hungry for souls. Then, the realization that he could feel something around him. He could sense something around him. The energy of the other spirits. Their spiritual pressure, as it were. The thought of it just made him hungrier. It was those souls that he craved, and if he was craving them, he must need to devour souls in order to survive.

So, doing the normal thing that he would in order to survive, he fed. Kurai the hollow charged after the nearest spirit. It was almost pure instinct, acting the way he did. In fact, Kurai could hardly remember it happening as he zeroed in on his target, tackling them forcefully to the ground before biting a chunk out of the victim's shoulder. It didn't take long for him to devour a couple souls. Oddly enough, he felt sated. But what was he to do now? His gut told him to devour more souls. Something made him feel as if that was really all there was to this life. But then again, he still had his consciousness. This thought brought back memories of the days before his death. The creatures he had seen. They had bright white masks, and holes in their chests where their hearts were. After closer examination, his suspicions were confirmed. He indeed had become on of those creatures. Again, instinctively, the word came to mind. Hollow.

With a great deal of experimentation, Kurai was able to discover his new abilities, which he found quite useful. It didn't take long for him to discover the Garganta, which allowed him to travel to Hueco Mundo, the world of the hollows. Unfortunately, he also found that in his new form he had a difficult time wielding blades. On the other hand, his unarmed fighting wasn't terribly adversely affected, and with the inclusion of a prehensile tail, actually added to his repertoire with some practice. The hunger continued to grow, at one point, he actually began to develop a craving for other hollows. It was another instinctual discovery. Something in him told him to become stronger, told him that he needed to evolve. Interestingly enough, the answer that came to mind was to become cannibalistic, something he never would have even considered as a human. Yet, as a hollow, it just felt...right.

So, many more years went by, and his hunger grew, along with his desire to improve himself. This facet of his personality, along with many others seemed to remain intact. However, he did notice that he was almost always more eager to engage in combat, at least, to the death. Killing had become something of an enjoyment, as opposed to a burden. Part of him felt guilt at this, but it was quickly overridden with another desire for a meal. Eventually, after what felt like a century, and likely was just that, a group of other hollows had come together. His senses had brought him here, and they began to attack each other, each attempting to devour the other. Fortunately, Kurai was both quick and strong enough, not to mention wise enough, to keep himself from being devoured. As the battle raged, something strange happened. The hollows, including himself, began to merge. Summoning all of his will and determination to become stronger and stay alive, his consciousness remained intact, even when he realized he had grown to the size of the tallest trees back home. His mask, he could tell, was different than all of the others around him. He found that they mostly ignored him.

Not surprisingly, his instincts kicked in again, and that hunger not only returned, it intensified. He was becoming all the more confused by these cravings. Now his gut (literally) was telling him to devour his new kin. His fellow giants, or Gillians, as he somehow knew they were called. In time, he found this to be just as easy, if not easier than devouring the other hollows before. Several more years and several meals later, he found that drive for power and evolution again. Pushing himself further as hard as he could, he strove faster and harder to reach that next level of power. Finally, after another hundred years, it happened. Another transformation occurred, changing him into a form that actually much resembled his initial hollow form. However, this form was more muscular and bulky, but the power that he could feel within himself was nearly intoxicating. As usual, he found himself craving more power and more souls, including other hollows like himself. He was sensing a pattern in all of this.

Further down the road, Kurai found that many other hollows and species that either derived from hollows, or crossed into the world of the hollows existed. These species were known as Vizards and Arrancar. As it turned out, an Arrancar was, in a way, a step on his evolutionary ladder. A goal, as it were. Some day, he would achieve that power, and become all the more powerful. At this point, he met a man named Domri Orijinaru, a man who was apparently a Shinigami at one time, who obtained the powers of a hollow. Interestingly enough, he was the creator of a group of individuals who were of the hollow bloodline. The group apparently included Hollows, Vizards, and Arrancar together in a single group, with the soul purpose of exterminating the soul reapers. While it was true that he hadn't had much experience with them, aside from slaying a few here and there that tried to kill him during his random trips to the living world, he held little grudge against them. However, these individuals would give him the means to become stronger, and in turn, he could give them means to become stronger. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement. Of course, the fact that he would have the opportunity to kill some soul reapers along the way was just a bonus.

So, accepting the proposition to join the group, Kurai was one step closing to reaching the next level of his powers, and being just one rung higher on the ladder. At that, with this group, who knows how long he could survive? Who knew how powerful he and the group could become. It was all very tantalizing indeed. From that point on, he continued honing his skills and abilities, even learning new tricks about his powers now and then. While a relative newcomer to the group, at least, in terms of it's eldest members, he is actually one of the oldest individuals in the group, so far as he can tell. While he doesn't put much stake in this, he does find it interesting. In truth, he doesn't get along all that well with most of those who are higher on the evolutionary tree than he is, out of disdain for being looked down upon, and he downright refuses to accept orders from anyone. Of course, the lack of a major pecking order in the group is partly what attracted him to them. Then again, if a position of leadership were ever needed, he would certainly volunteer. Unlike many though, he wouldn't become angry if his suggestion were to be turned down. Now, Kurai continues to seek further power, and to advance to the next stage of his hollow evolution; Vasto Lorde.

- Denjihakai (Electromagnetic Disruption) - Kurai manipulates his Denjigaito or Denjihaji, altering the field to hinder his foes. The Denjihakai technique disrupts the electrical signals between the target's brain and the rest of their body. One use causes an opponent's movements to become sluggish. A second affliction confuses the signals, causing the signals to become mixed up. For example, the signal to move the left arm could move the right leg. A third affliction and beyond causes the signals to stop altogether, effectively immobilizing the target for a single post, then resets back to the first affliction. This technique can last up to three (3) posts, but if reset, the post count resets as well.
Just need clarification, this only affects people who have been magnetized, right?

- Denjihaji (Electromagnetic Grip) - Kurai targets a foe or an object, then creates an electromagnetic field around the target. Kurai can then manipulate the field with other techniques, hindering or harming the target, in the case of a foe. In the case of an object, this technique allows Kurai to manipulate the object, throwing it or drawing it to him. This technique lasts for up to three (3) posts.
The field needs more description. How big is the field, how quickly does it form, etc.

Edited the techniques. The disruption now states that it can only be bused on magnetized targets.

The grip technique now states that the field is six inches around the target, and takes a post to form on non-magnetized targets, and instantly forms around magnetized targets.

How is that?
