» Energetic: Izayoi at his core as a character is bursting with energy, so much so that many tend to find him annoying. Most of his time is spent fighting, planning practical jokes, or training in order to do more fighting, but Izayoi's rambunctious behavior lends itself marvelously to many other activities as well. Anything Izayoi sets his mind to that can be accomplished through hard work and willpower he tends to achieve with little difficulty. This doesn't make him hyperactive though, despite his normal eccentricities tending to make it seem as such, as Izayoi can more or less control himself despite the abundance of energy, but this creates a problem for him once the build up reaches its boiling point. Unless he has an outlet for this explosion of energy, he begins to grow frustrated, anxious, and agitated. Additionally, most activities are tedious to him and only temporarily stave off the stress and anxiety, consequently he seeks out his favorite activity, fighting, as a means to really exhaust that energy and erase the tension. As such, this tends to make Izayoi seem rather hungry for battle, moreso than he really should be, as he is not necessarily a warmonger by nature. It does make him rather irate however when he cannot find that fisticuffs related outlet or an opponent strong enough to engage him properly.

» Prankster: Perhaps Izayoi's most prominent trait to those who are familiar with him is his propensity for practical jokes and his general light-hearted, vibrant nature. This has generated a strong rapport and ingratiated him to many a people and led to him forming a rather strong between him and his retainers, however it has also done wonders for making him seem like a fool to the majority of the populace. This behavior has most likely formed due to his innate need to compete with his elder brother, however it often tends to have the inverse effect. Most people responding to his antics, comparing him to his "Crown Prince" brother as the "Clown Prince," and it makes Izayoi rather depressed on every level, yet only seems to exacerbate his antics . Izayoi is almost at a point in his life where he's been so conditioned to play the fool that he simply does not know how to behave in any other way. The only time this facade is dropped is around his father, who sees through his act immediately and, in his own way, encourages a more genuine form of tomfoolery for his son to participate in.

» Tough: As someone who loves fighting, Izayoi comes with the mental fortitude required to handle the kind of rigors and abuses that getting punches in the kidney repeatedly kind of requires. Additionally, as the younger brother to the perfect Kamui Curor, Izayoi who did not share his elder brother's brilliance and cognitive capacity, he had to be tough-skinned in order to carve his own place and identity in the world and to stop the ceaseless comparisons to the "perfect" Kamui. Because of his association to his brother, cannot let himself display weakness or falter at any time, and he achieves this with his combat prowess and the juvenile mask he chooses to wear. To his allies he must constantly work to be respected, and to his enemies he constantly feels the needs to be intimidating and condescending. It isn't necessarily all an act however, Izayoi most definitely has a rough and chew outer shell. The boy feels the need to constantly run head first in to danger and he often takes on challenges that others would deem insane, refusing to be deterred in his drive for recognition and dominance. He is quite the tenacious and aggressive individual... but his drive mostly stems from wanting to receive the recognition that he had never truly gotten in the shadow of his brother. Izayoi above all wants to be taken seriously and show others what he's made of, and it's hard for him to accomplish this if he appears even the slightest bit weak. Izayoi seeks to reach an insurmountable level of strength to be acknowledged as his brother's equal or, ideally, his better.

» Seeker of Freedom: Tying in to his inferiority complex, Izayoi hates the feeling of being cornered, of being told what to do, or of not doing what he wants to, usually because he is so often compared, negatively, to Kamui. Consequently, he enjoys the freedoms of life and won't settle for anything less. This can mean many things: It can mean that he tends to avoid following the rules and the laws of the land, and will choose to do what he wants instead. His preference, hedonistically, is to have the world around him be bend and cater to his whims, and he is quick to anger and will readily display annoyance to anything that goes against that. He feels as though he knows what's best for himself and others opinions tend to be rather irrelevant on that point. This manifests as well in his unmistakably blunt sense of honesty, as saying anything less than such honesty does not do what he believes is justice to his own majesty. It also manifests in a sense of irresponsibility. Izayoi has been known to drain the kingdom coffers on silly and honestly quite pointless things on more than one occasion simply because it suited his whims. He doesn't hold himself back, and doesn't want to. The more freedom he is permitted, the happier he tends to be when all is said and done.

» Strategically Inept: It further flows from the earlier point however that Izayoi is very irresponsible. Izayoi is very, very poor when it comes to planning things out ahead of time. He very much lives in the moment and that shows through in his general lack of foresight in many situations. This is not to say he is tactically inept of course. There is a wide gap between strategy and tactics. In a combat situation, despite his rather blusterous personality, Izayoi is rather intelligent. He is creative, ingenious even, in the moment. However it is when he has to plan five or six moments ahead where the blunders began and in his mind, it is his greatest weakness and then thing that keeps him so far away from his elder brother...something that fills him with an utterly extreme amount of rage and anxiety. It also really emphasizes his overarching lack of proficiency with money and responsibility, unable to really appreciate the future for what it is given that he cannot live outside the now.

Natural Abilities

Animalistic Traits: Izayoi’s animalistic characteristics are not readily apparent, at least until he opens his mouth. The son of the Aceldama, the Sugiuran of Gluttony, Izayoi was bestowed his mother’s sharp, carnivorous, teeth. Izayoi’s other animalistic features are considerably less conspicuous. His sense of hearing, sense of smell, and his eyesight is considerably more impressive than that of a regular human, and he could pick up the faintest of scents from miles away.

Xingyiquan: A practitioner of xingyiquan uses coordinated movements to generate bursts of power intended to overwhelm the opponent, simultaneously attacking and defending. Forms vary from school to school, but include barehanded sequences and versions of the same sequences with a variety of weapons. These sequences are based upon the movements and fighting behavior of a variety of animals. The training methods allow the student to progress through increasing difficulty in form sequences, timing and fighting strategy.

Xingyiquan features aggressive shocking attacks and direct footwork. The linear nature of xingyiquan hints at both the military origins and the influence of spear technique alluded to in its mythology. Despite its hard, angular appearance, cultivating soft internal strength or qi is essential to achieving power in Xingyiquan.

The goal of the xingyiquan exponent is to reach the opponent quickly and drive powerfully through them in a single burst — the analogy with spear fighting is useful here. This is achieved by coordinating one's body as a single unit and the intense focusing of one's qi.

Efficiency and economy of movement are the qualities of a xingyiquan stylist and its direct fighting philosophy advocates simultaneous attack and defense. There are few kicks except for extremely low foot kicks (which avoids the hazards of balance involved with higher kicks) and some mid-level kicks, and techniques are prized for their working within key principles rather than aesthetic value. Xingyiquan favours a high stance called Sāntǐshì, literally "three bodies power," referring to how the stance holds the head, torso and feet along the same vertical plane. A common saying of xingyiquan is that "the hands do not leave the heart and the elbows do not leave the ribs." This philosophy is very similar to Wing Chun.

Immense Energy: Izayoi is an absurdly powerful Sugiuran. The boy inherited his father’s incredibly potent body and as such inherited his father’s natural immensity of being. While Izayoi cannot yet tap in to into its immensity, that doesn’t necessarily mean it does not manifest, Izayoi’s destructive potential being readily available and intimidating despite his inability to properly harness it, causing him to often seem to be on the same league as his father and elder brother without actually holding that much strength. What Izayoi is able to utilize this power to do is rather terrifying in its own right however and even if someone knew that the boy’s massive presence did not represent a massive control over it, it would not be wise to underestimate what the Sugiura of Destruction is capable of.

Restraining Seal: Etched across Izayoi’s back is a large seal, extending from his shoulder blades to his tailbone. This seal was etched into his very skin from a young age when it had become readily apparent that the young boy had no hope of controlling his powers through will alone. So in response, Sagumi had successfully found the source of the problem and etched in a method to control and suppress it. As such, this seal forces Izayoi’s massive destructive power to be far more centralized and limited and allows his molecular destructive ability to not immediately destroy everything around him and himself by actually absorbing, breaking down, and storing the energy in to an alternate dimension the excess energy that his Atomizer ability generates, limiting Izayoi’s destructive output. This excess, discarded energy is what Erebus uses to take root in this world. As such, the more Izayoi’s power grows, the more the seal on his back steadily begins to fade and with each release Izayoi enjoys one of the points on the seal disappears.

Spoiler:

Master of Physics: The other aspect of Izayoi that he inherited directly from his father. The boy’s movements and abilities are incredibly damaging to...everything around him and hypothetically this would include himself. Through the control given by the boy’s restraining seal and the naturally intense physical condition of the boy, Izayoi is able to use his reishi to cushion effects placed on himself and completely negate damage that would be dealt to him by his own techniques. Given the insanely premeditated and active nature of this characteristic, Izayoi can only negate damage he himself would commit to himself, any external sources, such as attacks from an enemy, are completely unaffected by this characteristic.




Atomizer:

Izayoi’s chief and, in and of itself, only ability he truly has is his ability to break down, split, and utterly destroy atoms that he physically comes into contact with, effectively making his mere existence a walking nuclear explosion waiting to happen and would inherently pose a severe health risk to not only himself, but everyone in his vicinity. Thankfully, with the Restraining Seal in place on his back, Izayoi’s mere existence does not threaten anything and everything around him. It does not completely remove his ability to split atoms around him however and Izayoi has found many a way to utilize this ability to great effect.


The first representation is in the destructive capabilities of Izayoi’s physical exertions. While he is not really left wanting physically compared to anyone he’s yet to meet outside his youngest sister, Izayoi’s true power comes not from physical exertion. With every strike the man makes, regardless of physical exertion applied, Izayoi will split the atoms in the air around his strike, effectively generating a nuclear explosion with each hit. The restraining seal will reduce the impact radius, scrub away any residual radiation and temper the overall destructive capability of Izayoi so much as sneezing, but it does not nearly do enough to stop Izayoi’s strikes from being some of the most devastating in our world. Izayoi is capable of delivering a strike equivalent to a quarter of a kiloton nuclear explosion in his base form and it is speculated that without the restraining seal in place, Izayoi would begin to dangerously encroach upon the territory of a megaton bomb. However, due to the fact that the restraining seal IS in place, Izayoi’s abilities are a little more difficult to conjure willingly. Instead of the occurrence happening naturally, Izayoi needs to exert genuine focus to generate. Izayoi cannot react on the fly with the ability, consequently every attack that he uses his atomizer on needs to be premeditated and direct with a considerable amount of physical force behind it. This ability gets progressively stronger with each release Izayoi undertakes and the seal slips away.


In addition, the Atomizer is not limited to being used solely upon other people. Izayoi has long since learned how to properly use his explosive and destructive ability on himself. Izayoi is capable of using his destructive power to launch himself in a direction at rather terrifying velocities. Izayoi is capable of launching himself at rates that more than double an equally tiered shunpo or racial equivalent, giving Izayoi a rather remarkable amount of speed outside of his own normally impressive physical capabilities. In addition, because the nature of his movement is quite literally an explosion, the amount of pressure generated from his movement would normally kill him if not for the restraining seal and his own training to resist these forces through conscious effort, making it rather dangerous to use if his mental capacity is in any way hindered. In addition, comparable to his ability to strike, this ability is considerably hampered by the Restraining Seal. In order to effectively use it, it requires preternatural thought, precluding its use in “panic” situations that would require an adaptive thought process or a quick reaction. So it needs to be a premeditated action rather than a reactionary one With that risk however carries a rather impressive benefit. On top of the immense speeds this kind of movement is capable of, the movement will generate immense pressure around the user as he's moving, almost pushing everything else aside. When moving with his Atomizer, Izayoi will cut through the air so intensely that it will push aside anything in the air that would do the user harm. As such, any attacks that Izayoi would otherwise sustain when using the ability are completely and utterly overpowered and neutralized. This protection only applies in a forty five degree angle in front of him however, so despite being completely invulnerable to head on attacks, Izayoi is still very susceptible to off angle attacks. .



This ability also gives Izayoi, to an extent, the ability to manipulate matter. However, while most abilities of this vein typically shift the matter from one thing into another, Izayoi is only capable of shifting the molecular bonds in an items to weaken its structural integrity. He cannot actually shift the molecules into anything else or even do much more than destablize them, fracturing the structural integrity of the object. This is one of the few moments of finesse that Izayoi possesses, tending to prefer outright flashy destructive capability over something this subtle, but he has found numerous uses for such an ability and has taken the time, however short, to learn to fully utilize it. While in most inorganic substances this is a relatively simple matter, working against organic tissue or a spiritually charged object is considerably more difficult and not only requires a lot of exertion on Izayoi's part but time as well, rendering applications in combat to effectively be useless.

Guardian Beast

Origin: Destruction

Guardian Beast/Sacred Weapon: Erebus


Erebus is both the peculiar Sugiuran’s Guardian Beast AND his Sacred weapon. At first, through a combination of Izayoi’s rather unique heritage and his inborn natural aptitude for destruction, Izayoi was not born with a sacred weapon. Perhaps the Gods thought his body as a whole was weapon enough. For whatever reason he was not graced with a weapon at birth, however, Izayoi would not stay without his weapon for long. During his first fit of destruction, a fit that required Sagumi to etch the Restriction Seal into his very being, Izayoi’s sacred weapon and by extension his Guardian Beast, came into existence. Beyond Sagumi’s foresight, the excess energy that the restriction seal would remove from Izayoi and filter off into areas unknown caused the formation of Izayoi’s Guardian Beast and Sacred weapon, Erebus.

While the two do not have the greatest of relationships, Izayoi is very much a being of light, joy, happiness, laughter, and exhilaration, Erebus is the polar opposite, representing all the negative energy that is cast off by the restriction seal, they did seem to form a sort of bond. They were opposites, but as much as Erebus hated the happiness and light that was young Izayoi, its very existence was the obnoxious amount of energy that Izayoi's very existence output. Without Izayoi, Erebus had no hope of existing. On the opposite side, as much as Izayoi hated the creature of darkness and shadow that seemed inexplicably bound to him, Erebus HAD saved him on multiple occasions in multiple fights since his engagement with the Water Serpent. As such, the two tend to detest each other to alarming degrees. However, because Izayoi’s energy output is the only thing keeping Erebus in existence, the creature is obligated through survival instinct to protect Izayoi. This is the primary manifestation of its power.

The creature, when utilized, will frequently swirl around Izayoi and will typically be invisible to the naked eye. However, given that the creature is very much dark energy embodied, sensing the nefarious maelstrom circling Izayoi is not difficult in the slightest. Any incoming attacks will be met with the shadow manifesting for a moment and blocking the attack. However, the overall strength of the attack has very little bearing on whether or not it is blocked, when struck the shadow will insert an equal and opposite energy signature into the attack, regardless of whether that is spiritual energy or even kinetic energy. While the shadow can theoretically block any form of attack, regardless of strength or type,the shadow itself, when materialized, can be destroyed. Every time the shadow blocks an attack or hits something, it loses its “charge” for materializing in this world. So regardless of whether the attack was a massive cero or someone flicking it with a finger, the shadow loses a charge and can potentially be destroyed. Erebus’s charges are dependent on Izayoi’s use of the Atomizer. Every time Izayoi uses the ability, Erebus gains a single charge. Whenever an altercation begins, Izayoi's Erebus will always begin at zero charges. Given the unstable nature of the energy Izayoi wields, storing any charges on the Erebus shadow is impossible for him at this time, forcing Izayoi to build up his defenses through in the moment offense.

Guardian Beast's World:

Joushou

Joushou Appearance:


Energy Destruction: Izayoi undergoes no real physical change upon entering his Joushou outside of one important but usually obstructed fashion. In order to enter his Joushou, Erebus will wipe away one of the points on Izayoi’s back, the arrowed sigma, and consequently releasing the portion of Izayoi’s power that had been sealed away. In this state, Izayoi’s Atomizer ability expands exponentially. While he still retains the ability to split atoms and the destructive levels of kinetic energy that accompanies it, Izayoi’s Joushou allows him to do something else, something terrifying. Izayoi is capable of destroying energy.

Izayoi is still limited, he needs to be in physical contact with his hand in order to destroy the energy in question, but Izayoi is able to destroy any form of energy that does come in to contact with his hand. Izayoi is capable of blowing through all form of energy based barrier, attack, or ability through sheer destructive power, spitting in the face of the laws of conservation with naught more than a smack. Of course, Izayoi is restricted to actually meeting the energy with his hand in order to properly destroy the source of energy, making the functionality of this ability very dependent on Izayoi’s physical abilities(all of which become more intimidating with the restriction seal no longer imposing as harsh a restriction) to fully utilize the energy destruction and allows opposition to either maneuver around Izayoi’s defenses or trick him through misdirection.

Zenou

Zenou Abilities:

Remote Destruction: With the second point removed, the pointed circle, Izayoi’s powers develop even further...and terrifyingly so. Once the second point is removed by Erebus, Izayoi’s power, in addition to the increased potency of his natural abilities, Izayoi is able to select a location within one hundred meters of himself, send out a pulse of his reishi, and then use that Reishi to split an atom in that area. This allows Izayoi to generate miniature, controlled, explosions that can range from a localized reishi detonation up to half a kiloton bomb, shoring up the major weakness of range that Izayoi had suffered upon until now.

However, given that keeping the condensed Reishi together for that long at those ranges is difficult while maintaining the level of destructive power Izayoi is capable of, his is very limited in just how many times he can use this ability. The small, localized explosions he can use rather frequently and with ease, however the more and more devastating the explosions the more and more energy Izayoi needs to use to maintain the energy required to split an atom. Consequently, the full blown destructive force that Izayoi is capable of exerting in this form is heavily limited in its frequency of use, the maximum potency only being able to be used once before Izayoi is forcibly reverted from his Zenou to his base form, physically exhausted at that.

History

Character Background:

Izayoi was running out of time, his entire life. He was born a twin to Sagumi Sumashuu and Aceldama Cruor and from the very moment he was born, Izayou seemed to just know that he was the lesser son. It wasn't necessarily a blatant thing, Izayoi could not with much confidence say that he was less loved growing up than his brother or that he was in any way neglected, but Kamui had already been chosen to inherit his father's secrets and young Izayoi was not born soon enough, he had run out of time before he even had a chance to participate. He was loved however, which in and of itself was something he was thankful for growing up. It did leave him a little bit wanting. Izayoi strove for excellence in all things that he would and even without the special training Kamui received, Izayoi always seemed to know that he would forever be the lesser brother...and this further exacerbated itself when he nearly destroyed the Northern Kingdom.

At around two years of age, Izayoi's powers manifested...meting out some explosive results. Izayoi's body was not strong enough to contain his powers and when they began manifesting, the world around him began to explode. To this day the crater in the northernmost side of the Kingdom remains to this day. Using Kakeru's ice to encapsulate the blast coming from the boy, internalizing it and preventing the energy from spreading outward, it took the fully released Sagumi to push through the energy in order to apply the seal to section off Izayoi's capacity. If not for the timely intervention of Kakeru and Sagumi's combined efforts, stopping the explosive nature of the newest Prince of the Cruor, young Izayoi could very easily have completely and utterly destroyed the Sugiuran World all on his own. This was the moment where the Restriction Seal was first applied to Izayoi, etched in to his very core.

For the next ten years of his life, Izayoi spent all his time learning to filter his abilities through the seal so as not to bring harm upon others. This led to a certain stigma and fear of the child from the kingdom and while he did not meet such opposition and ire from his family, the concept that he was a pariah among his species was rather painful. He was never going to be fit to inherit much from his father due to the volatile nature of his being and he was never going to win the hearts and minds of his people like Kamui could which put Izayoi in to an awkward position. Thus he resolved that if he couldn't be the king his brother was groomed to be, he was going to be the hero his father was. He unfortunately had no idea how exactly to do that, so he went with what he knew. Izayoi simply began fighting, everything and anything he could. It was when his father and brother were on a trip to the human world that his opportunity struck. Without its two chief defenders, a terrifying sea monster was attacking the southern edge of the kingdom and the local peacekeepers were having a fit of trouble dealing with it.


It was the first time that Izayoi had ever truly needed to use his powers for any extended period of time and even then...it did not take him very long. The boy disposed of the serpent without much effort, only needing a few moments and a single strike to bury the serpent monster. It was here where Izayoi's powers were fully utilized for the first time since the initial cataclysm that was his childhood. It was then that young Kamui's sacred weapon and guardian beast manifested, Erebus. Enough energy had finally been released from the young boy's body that it began to coalesce in to a being all on its own, a sentient one that that. Erebus was born. Izayoi spent the next few days of his life trying his best to get used to the evil spirit of shadow and malice that seemed to follow him around like an overly attached girlfriend with varying degrees of success while Izayoi continued to pursue his quest to be mighty. As Kamui went off to develop in to quite the potent magus, Izayoi kept his focus more on the physical nature of his family's heritage, continuing to hone his skills in the Martial Arts, a fact that continued to pester him as he still never truly managed to keep up with his elder brother despite devoting considerably more time to the craft.

Then Kamui was sent to the human world, chosen to be the Liaison between the two organizations, connecting the Vanguard and the Sugiuran Kingdom. Izayoi did not like the idea, both because he was not sure how he felt about attaching their kingdom to an Earthen one, even if his Father came from the species Izayoi had serious reservations about the Sugiurans interacting with any outsiders, regardless of their species. And then the real reason he was upset, Kamui had been chosen for it, Kamui and not Izayoi. The thought almost sent the boy in to a rage, storming out of the palace. By the time he had returned home, Kamui had already gone and Izayoi was left alone, well, as alone as he could be with his mother and three other siblings. However, whenever his father was gone, that left Izayoi as the chief guardian of the Northern Kingdom. Which is what he would serve as, for now, until the time came where he was needed to answer his people's call.
