A New Beginning [Open] Empty Re: A New Beginning [Open]

Styn had stumbled upon something amazing about a month ago while wondering about Karakura Central. This new found freedom was only possible with the perfection of his Cloak of Shadows, which allowed the Demon Knight to pass through the passive dome that normally kept undesirable spirit signatures outside. As expected, the humans who lived under the benevolence of such absolute protection were far less cautious then those who were forced to do without. A simple bit of demon magic made sure that all who encountered Styn saw him as nothing more then a middling human, of moderate spiritual power.

The great find though had come when he had been visiting a nearby hospital, following up on a drug related sickness that coincided with his most active investigation while in Karakura. Months ago Styn had come across a drug that allowed humans to mimic demon talents for a short period of time. Since then the Demon Knight had hoped to track down the chemical compound for Shadow Fall. This simple excuse had already served to expose Styn to any number of unique individuals who currently inhabited the greatest of all human cities.

While walking about the hospital, making a general nuisance of himself and putting his nose in where it didn't belong. Styn had come across a faint Za Koa signature. Supposedly such a presence would be impossible in the heart of Karakura, and he had been practically on top of it before he could even detect the residue of demon taint. Careful study had revealed that this signature belonged to none other then Kristen Hiroshima, believed dead all these years by most demons. More importantly Eric Zarathos had been driven to leave Shadow Fall in pursuit of his mad quest of vengeance on her behalf.

The demon princess was nothing like Styn had expected. Although the Demon Knight had not approached her himself in the one month he had been aware of her existence, he was more then able to use Shadow Fall resources to purchase information about the demon exile. She was somehow able to remain undetected even in the heart of human power, but didn't seem conscious of the fact that her demonic nature was being repressed and hidden somehow. It was certainly an interesting puzzle for the Demon Knight, something to keep his mind off of the lack of progress in other areas.

Styn had hardly devoted the bulk of his attention on this side project, but the day finally came when Kristen was discharged. The wheels of his current plot were already in progress. Unlike many of his kind, Styn had nothing but admiration for the great Kade Hiroshima. The former Demon King had once united the Demon World thousands of years ago, in times lost to myth and legend. However, Styn's father had chased such stories in his youth and raised Styn himself to value those same attributes. Peace was an impossible dream for demons, but it was one that Styn valued even now.

It wasn't the Demon Knight's place to reveal the truth about Kristen. He had his own words that he wished to exchange with Eric Zarathos, and hoped only to look out for the innocent seeming demon princess. The woman with an apartment to rent who approached Kristen had been paid by Styn to do so. He was glad to see the encounter go so smoothly, although it was odd to see a demon with so little guile. The resolve in Styn's heart to look after Kristen only became stronger at how easily she trusted.

As the demon princess moved to finalize the paper work for her new residence Styn approached the room. He waited outside the door a moment until a communication from the woman confirmed that Kristen had accepted the room. Pulling the door open Styn moved to enter the woman's residence, catching Kristen just as she finished speaking to herself. The Demon Knight feigned surprise looking the demon princess up and down.

Styn stood not quite six feet tall, taller then average perhaps, but not in a way that stood out. His medium build accentuated his averageness, he wasn't quite slim, but fell short of heavily muscled. Dark green hair only an inch or so in length, could possibly be a dye job. Pale violet eyes, while a questionable fashion choice, were not outside cosmetic modification. Both ears came to slight point at the apex of their arc, something easily overlooked. His teeth might be a bit sharper then normal for a human, but they retained the same basic shape and placement. The demon's nails also came to a point and were thicker then common, but were by no means long talons or claws. All and all - discounting Za Koa which was naturally suppressed in this base form - Styn would go unremarked in most locations. Unchallenged was another story entirely.

The Knight of the First Circle sported a dark green business suit, almost black outside of direct light. The pale violet tie was clearly meant to bring out his eyes, which were somewhat concealed behind a pair of gunmetal gray glasses with translucent bottom rims. Black dress shoes capped out the attire, with especial detail paid so that the combat boot soles didn't look out of place. Still the effect lacked a certain something. First of all, his white button down shirt was untucked, which his unbuttoned dark green jacket didn't quite conceal. His tie was loosened at least an inch, and cocked slightly to the left. His pants looked a bit rumpled and his shoes were scuffed. In addition his eyes had heavy dark bags under them and his stare was half lidded, giving him the appearance of someone tired or sick.

"Aunt Nao, who is this young lady?" Styn said glancing past Kristen to address the older women who was tucking the first months rent away in an envelope.

"Why you little rascal," Nao said with a smile. "She's been here only a minute and already you've come sniffing around to bother Miss Kristen. Be off with you, she'll not be taken in by your charm."

"Aunty you wound me," Styn said with a melodramatic flair, lifting his hand up and resting the back of it against his forehead. With a charming grin he sketched a smooth bow toward Kristen. "You'll have to forgive my Aunt Nao, she's never liked me since my mother is a foreigner. I'm not Japanese enough I suppose. Styn Kimura at your service Miss Kristen. I'm sorry for my forwardness but did I hear that you're looking for work? I've been searching for a talented partner and you look like the sort who can handle herself."

Styn pointed proudly toward his chest. "I run Get Backers. If you've lost something that you want returned I'll get it back for you. I'll have you know that we've got a ninety nine percent success rate so far, but that might change if these requests keep coming in at the current rate. I can't promise a steady wage, but I sure could use the help. What do you say? Interested in helping people recover their dreams?"

There was nothing to say that Styn was really a Knight of the First Circle in Shadow Fall. At the moment he looked, talked, and seemed to be nothing more then a simple half Japanese male of about twenty three years of age. There was no animosity in his demeanor. Although there was a hint of nervousness in his stance and tone, it was nothing that might not be dismissed as a young man talking to a good looking girl. Not only that but Styn really did not intend any harm to come to Kristen. He only sought to ease her transition into the human society she suddenly found herself a part of.
