The Rains of the Stronghold
Inspired by "The Rains of Castamere"
Made for Bleach: Platinum Hearts as "UHCM's Dark Theme"
Recommended to hear the track to understand the pacing of the tune.

"And who are you," the Mad One said...
"That I soon must die to?"
"Only a man of a weaker breed; that's all the truth I know."
"In a breed of man or in a breed of fiend, a demon still has spells."

"And mine are far and vast, Demon; as far and vast as yours."
And so he spoke and so he spoke, that Mad One of the Stronghold...
And now the rain weeps o'er the town, where only ghosts there to hear.
Yes, now the rain weeps o'er the town, and the echoes remain.

Background of the Song: It dates back during when it is after World War III, when Shadin and others are culling the hollows, Arrancar and demons that remained in Japan. One of the towns is called "the Stronghold" by Demons because it was one of the high concentrated footholds for the Demons fighting back against the army led by Shadin and others. The Stronghold was led by "The Mad One" who is a mad demon, but not like Eric Zarathos as he is one of the mad demons; however, the Stronghold was later found slaughtered during the raining night by Demon reinforcements that came in the morning and as for the Mad One, he was found skewered in the Vlad the Impaler manner and missing his head while other demons and hollows; young and old and even wounded are found chopped up with their heads lining up the boundaries of the town like border markers. Even to demons, the Old Stronghold (as it is called now) was believed to be haunted by vengeful spirits of the demons and hollows that were slaughtered. What is common is that they blamed the humans for sending a single fiend that ended them all. That tale spread throughout the Demon Society as the myth of "Echo" started from this song sung by former visitors of the Old Stronghold to spread the tale of it so (as they hoped) no one else will go there to disturb the already disturbed spirits.

And now the Aftermath of the Rains of the Stronghold...

Note: Rough appearance of UHCM back at the time, back when he was slaying Demons, Hollows and Arrancar.

In the central region of Japan, a town overtaken by demons are in slumber under the leadership of a Mad Demon. But now it stood barren with the breath of a human man rests at a bonfire made from bones of the deceased and bone dust of some demons he slew. Only thing keeping the bonfire lit was a solitary demon sword plunged into the concrete street. Even in the rain, the fire keeps going as the human male watches in contemplation. He is visible with his dark, long hair long unkept while he wears only the trousers of a shinigami with bandages covering his body save for only the upper half of his face, which a menacingly calm stare is maintained. The fire crackles as the man tosses a demon bone into it, causing the fire to grow boldly and warmly with its greeted meal.

Around him are earthly scars from the swords that lays next to him; a simple, long, straight sword that could be a man high if stood on its pommel or blade's tip, and a larger, broader sword decorated in red and its tip was curved to allow more slashing power. What is littered throughout the town are headless bodies of demons that are mutilated and each have their bones ripped out while the rest are left to rot. Each block was marked with a bonfire checkpoint made from demon bones and dust while having a demon blade stuck in the middle of the bonfire. Should the man be the one responsible, he is certain to be swift with his handiwork and the craft of death. Only one demon was given a special treatment as it was behead and impaled around a spire on top of a town hall from its behind through its stumped neck. Along the borders of the township, heads are meticulously lined up facing outward without anything to keep them in place as if the killer wishes them to naturally line up instead of purposefully be lined up like soldiers.

As the man peers into the fire in front of the town hall, it is the only solace to the soul in the near midnight rain. The sounds of demonic screams of many groups of age, gender and status; the impaled demon seemed to scream in both rage and pain as his head was nowhere to be found other than to be stuck on top of a burning pommel of a demon sword, roasting with its smoking eye sockets gazing back at the man. Despite the haunting that would drive anyone mad, the man sit there eerily calm.

"All for my friends; they are safe for awhile. Protect country...protect friends." He speaks,

"Those who kill shall not be forgiven, even for the sake of duty...love...and what word is it that comes after love?"
