The Girl With the White Shadow [CLOSED] Empty The Girl With the White Shadow [CLOSED]

The old, broken streets of what was the original grounds of Karakura city whistled with a cold breeze. It wasn't particularly freezing, but any normal person would consider it quite chilly. Either multiple layers or thicker clothing were quite common amongst the people who lived or walked around this part of Karakura. Then again, things like hooded sweatshirts and baggy clothing were quite common in this area regardless. It would just be another day to these people. At the same time, any stores or bystanders in this area were constantly at fear of being robbed. Robbed of money, personal belongings, anything that the criminals assaulting them could get their grubby hands on. Except for today. While the night was chilly, it wasn't by any means enough of a deterrent for the thugs that were known to roam this area. No, if anything tonight was the best night they could find to go on a crime spree. It was Saturday, the day in which most shops were open a bit later since most everyone got out of work or school early, and the day in which all of them decided they would stop their individual criminal acts and all gang up to cause some real mayhem. 'Cause you know. Thugs n' stuff.

*Pat* *Pat*

The sounds of walking caught one of the younger boy's attention in the group, but the moment he looked around to check, it was gone. Just as quickly as it had came, it had vanished. The calls and mocking of the rest of the group caught his ears instead, and he quickly scrambled to catch up to them. Yet he couldn't quite push the thought of what that sound was to the back of his head. No more than a minute later, it had come back as well. His head jolted around to see it, freezing in place as it did so, but alas the sound was gone just as he turned around to try and see the source of the sound. This process continued for a few minutes before the boy simply gave up and stopped trying to see the source of the sound. No matter how close it grew. Or how much it seemed like someone was literally breathing down his neck.

"Wait..." the boy mumbled. This time his head and body twisted around just in time to see something that could only fuel his suspicions. A flash of pink caught his eye just as he managed to turn around to see the source of the sound. He didn't know for sure, but due to the panic that was settling in from how close this sound was getting, his mind instantly made the connection that someone, or something, was stalking him. The boy didn't need his "friends" to call him over to catch up. He immediately turned around and ran back to the group, shoving his way into the middle of the cluster of eight or nine ragged looking young adults.

"Wha's wrong kid?" one asked, laughing a little to mock him. The man slung a wooden bat over his shoulder and looked back at the kid as they all walked to the nearest store to "tax" it like they usually did. This thug wasn't the only one that was armed, some others having pipes or knives or bats as well. "You look like you've seen a ghost!"

If the irony didn't kill him there, it would soon.

Such misfortune. How did he even end up here in the first place? Standing in the midst of this old streets of the original Karakura City, was only an ordinary highschool boy, with no visible means of having any supernatural power at all, neither does he have any spiritual energy to confirm it either, making him very vulnerable in this city as being one of the powerless humans that is bound to be killed by the streets full of thugs and gangs waiting on their next victim, and that 'victim' would be him, the unlucky one, of course. Spiky blue hair, dressed informally in his uniform with the emblem of Karakura High, and standing in the height of an average japanese male, about 5'9" to 6'0", making him considerably average within the millions to billions of population stated within Japan, and that person is no other than Kamijou Touma, or to be exact, Touma Yuudeshi, where he altered his last name for safety purposes if people are aiming for fame or to take him for research due to his genes that is related to Shadin Yuudeshi, to the point that even in his identity card, it states his alternate identity as Kamijou Touma instead of having the surname of 'Yuudeshi' being exposed to the whole world. He is the type that didn't want to freely and randomly use his family's fame and resources, and stood away from his family for long periods of time when he matured a bit.

How he ended up in this place was truly a mystery, but you can call it 'bad luck', for someone who daydream as he walked through the Karakura City, only to end up here when he snapped himself back to reality, but it doesn't just end here either. Looking around to find his way out of this place, his instinct shoot up when he heard a rather loud footstep nearby, and that instinct was enough for him to react at amazing speeds and simply.. vanished? Well, to be exact, he was fast to jump into hiding in places that people wouldn't normally hide in, since in his many, many experiences of being chased by various thugs, being involved in so many horrible situations that his body became used to it and take anything fishy as a type of impulse to his instincts to jump into hiding immediately and stay into a deep silence, and as it turns out, he was lucky enough to hide from a group of strangers that he didn't know, all of them holding weapons and even talking random things that he couldn't hear from the distance where they grouped in front of a store that seemed pretty rundown. Not once have he panicked even, since experiences got him used to situations like this, all he could do was stay put and plan his way out of the city, since it seemed dangerous if he stood here any longer than he should, otherwise, his life would most likely be in danger for someone who isn't even spiritually powerful, not to mention, powerless one.

However, it doesn't go as well as it should be. Being well-known himself that he has a horrible luck, worse than anyone else due to a 'strange power' that he has, being able to negate God's blessings, also known as, 'Good Lucks', and nothing ever goes his way whenever he tries to keep himself safe from situations. Shifting his foot a bit and lightly kicked something solid, a wood, maybe? Either way, knowing his luck, the second he touches anything that shouldn't be touched, misfortune would most likely, if not, always befall unto him, and it.. happened. Cardboard and broomsticks, all began to collapse above him like some landslide that just fell onto his body, and that alone was enough to make a huge noise that would attract the group's attention to where he is hiding, in a cramped alley that can only fit a person or two into it at the same time, and because of the cramped space, even if these things are considerably light even for him, the cramped space was enough to get him stuck inside and would probably not have a good end of his own. Hell, with each and every footstep heard of these thugs approaching, Touma doubted that he'll get away with this, and even if he was able to get out of here, he would need to run miles to actually even escape, but thanks to his unnatural speed and high stamina, this was like a daily routine to him; being chased by thugs, but for now, luck was horrible, and this is exactly a misfortune just like any other day that he wouldn't miss.

The sounds of wood, metal, and other materials falling over on top of each other caught the attention of the roaming band of thugs. All simultaneously, they turned their heads to look at the source of the sound, and some of them were quite excited by what they saw. A young boy, probably no older than a highschooler, had seemingly knocked something over and caused a bunch of other things to collapse on top of him as a result. There was a small ripple throughout the group as they got each other's attentions and pointed out the boy, making him even more known. How unfortunate. It wasn't long until they were crossing the road, approaching him straight up without any regards for what they were doing beforehand. Stores? Nah, screw that. They had a kid to mug now. It wasn't long until they were all casting a shadow over him, making their presence more than known.

"Well, well. Look what the cat dragged in." one of the taller ones said, his baseball bat slung over his shoulder. "More fresh meat."

Some of the other thugs leaned in and looked down at him, trying to be menacing. The others looked either bored or irritated that they were dealing with this random kid who they only gave attention because he made a loud noise. And he probably had less than that store across the street they were originally going to ransack. One of the thugs stepped forwards and gave the boy a vicious kick to the side, laughing as he did so.

"I bet this kid's piss poor! Why'd we waste our time on this little rat!" the thug taunted, trying to get the kid to say something in response.

"I don't know, why did you?"

"Because we're thugs, that's what we do!" the man yelled, kicking the downed boy once more. He didn't even take the time to register who the voice behind him could have possibly been.

"Oh, that's not good." the voice said, and then the thug felt an icy cold hand on his shoulder. This alone caused him to freeze in place. "Maybe I should take all your limbs so you can't commit such dreadful atrocities anymore, little one...?"

Slowly, the thug turned around and saw just what it was that he had been dealing with. When the source of the voice had spoken initially, all the other thugs seemed to notice, but they had frozen in shock and surprise just as much as their friend had when he turned around to look at who he was dealing with. A stark white shadow with five masks floating around it. This was more than enough to set off their "nope" alarms, and almost all at once they decided to run as far away in the opposite direction as they could. Their yells and girlish screams could be heard for multiple blocks, and it almost amused the girl who had scared them away. Almost.

The shadow sunk back into the ground suddenly, revealing the figure behind it. A beautiful, attractive young woman with a gorgeous heart shaped face that gazed down at Touma with an absolute, utter, 100% blank face. Her eyes were wide but did not look surprised, much to many people's confusion. Her steps were also incredibly elegant and soft as she approached the boy's side. Crouching down, to get closer to the boy, the girl stared directly into his eyes with such an emotionless gaze that most people would find it completely unnerving.

"Are you alright, little one~?" chimed a voice that was far too sweet for how sinister her entire race was. While her clothes covered up the horrendously horrid hollow hole in the center of her chest, the five masks floating around her -one of which was chained to her hips- should have at least given a clue that she was really an Arrancar.

"Such abhorrent behavior." she said in her innocent little voice. "Surely they couldn't have wounded you much, yes?"

His luck was horrible enough, only to be discovered by these thugs and to be looked down upon. Being stuck against the materials was already misfortunate enough, but blaming on his lack of ability to even defend himself, it would be a laughing stock for others if they knew he was Shadin's son, one of the most powerful beings on earth, only to meet with one of his children who has absolutely no powers at all, than his Imagine Breaker that he has no control of using it. Not just that, if they knew what 'ability' holds within the vessel of his hand, he would only be more of a trouble if there are scientists whom are mad enough to fight for what's inside of his body, and his relation to Shadin would make others want his ability more at some point, this is why he finds himself pathetic enough to stuck in this obstacle, whom most can just blow it off unlike him, and to be surrounded and kicked around like a doll by a bunch of thugs. He doesn't know much whether or not what he does is right or wrong, even without abilities, to look at himself pathetically, only he would strive to protect others without a care for his own life, and believed that regardless of race or gender, even if they are hollows, as long as they are conscious of themselves, he believed that they can be saved, just that the only thing he need is to destroy their illusions and drag them back into the world of reality.

However, he didn't groan from the pain when he was kicked, twice to be exact. This was just too common to take hits like this all the time, considering of the ordeal he has to go through just about everyday when he always take his time running away from thugs, and if he were to be caught or cornered, he would always get beaten up for sure, making him typically resistant to pain at some point even if he was just some normal human without anything special up his sleeves. Touma didn't plead for help at all, even if there is someone or no one around, because it was his nature to get himself involved to assist others, not dragging those around him that is unrelated to the situation to be dragged right into his problems. All he could do was tolerate with the pain and hoped that they would leave him once they know that he was broke as hell, as well as unlucky if they stay around him for too long, since his Imagine Breaker can negate luck, there is a possibility that they can be influenced by it and have misfortune befall upon their existence. But there was this one woman, whom suddenly appeared behind them, and despite the given situation, he didn't stop just there and continue looking of what is about to happen, instead, he attempted to shout towards them to warn them what's behind them, but before it reach their ears, their ignorance noticed the woman's presence and proceed to run away from the so-called 'threat' to their perspective. It was fine that they are not hurt, but despite how they treated him just now, it may make others wonder why he was still so persistent to help those who are hostile to him at some point, but again, it was his nature to be that way, just like any other dramatic protagonist, he didn't aim to be a hero or anyone else, but in his soul, being himself was all he could ask for and no matter who or what they are, Touma is the type that lends a hand without a second thought for his own life. He isn't special or anything, no powers to claim in being able to protect himself or others around him, but putting his life on the line despite being powerless himself than just having 'Imagine Breaker' as his ability, was already a perk of his existence to continue.

The presence of this girl wasn't divine, that she saved his life from getting worse than it should be, although they were about to leave him alone since they seem to rather rob a shop than taking money from a guy who could barely afford his own living expenses. A woman with seemingly unfettered body approached to his body, lying to the dead cold floor after the equipment had collapsed onto his body. He understood that she tried to help him, typically, anyone would, for someone to be lying on the floor, surrounded by thugs and being kicked around, that it would be a natural reaction for anyone to help him considering the situation. His eyes gazed to her expression, filled with nothing but emptiness and expressionless, as if she was void of any emotions to be drawn to her face at all, with a hole centered at her chest was enough to tell that she was either a hollow or an arrancar. But despite of her void expression, Touma felt an odd warmness behind the words she spoke and the 'feeling' that wrapped around her, he couldn't tell what was it, but it just feels that way with how she expresses her words when she tried saving him from the thugs. He didn't run or even feel shocked, since Touma doesn't judge others by their race at all, no matter how sinister they were, even there would be a shed of light within that race, men or women, he was never afraid of those that is different from him because he understands the feeling of being different, that himself was always shrouded with horrible luck and affected those who were once close to him to the point that he decided to keep the changes to himself by living alone without dragging his family along to his horrendous, yet mysterious luck that is always affected by Imagine Breaker, an ability he always has.

Staring right into her eyes for a direct eye contact, all he could do was to awkwardly grin at her with honest intentions in his smile, only to reply to her question without any of his words stuttering in fear nor was there any hesitation behind it, all with an honest reply. "Yeah. I'm fine, they didn't do anything to me than a few kicks. To be honest, you shouldn't need to scare them that badly about taking all of their limbs away, but i appreciate your help for this.."

Standing up from where he once lay down his body, he was able to get a clear view of her entire figure since all he could see was the upper part of her body to describe the figure of hers, as he was lying down earlier ago and got a clear view of her face only when she got closer. He was.. sort of different than other humans, despite being powerless and only having the ability to see spirits, without any hidden motives to say, a clear view of her entire figure didn't spook him as much as if he was any other average person, they would've freaked out the second they met with her figure. It was a common occurrence for him to meet different beings than himself, and for Arrancar, it was rare but it isn't a surprise for him at all, even after seeing her figure, with floating masks and how.. 'heavily' dressed she was, Touma didn't mind any of it at all, as he had seen worse than this in his everyday experience when he was always chased around, regardless where or when, he was always seen being chased by delinquents because he always tried to play the 'good guy' role in front of people who are either bullied or harassed. It sounds stupid, but to him, it was common.

Scratching his own head for this awkward conversation of his, it would be more appropriate if he introduced himself as it seems to be a bad manner to meet someone and keep quiet without saying anything at all. Without hesitation, he reached out his hand for a friendly handshake with an honest smile on his face, as if he was shining with hope behind his smile, like anything that happened earlier ago was just shrugged off. He doesn't think of revenge, nor was there a hate to the thugs, all he did was keeping it to himself and shove the blame to his powerlessness, not the fault of the thugs neither was hers, for the girl's good intentions to help him out. It didn't show a single shred of any negativity to his face at all, to have her know he was fine and all in many ways, staying as enthusiastic as he could as he spoke out his introduction.

"So, if i can ask for your name since you helped me out earlier ago. My name's Touma, Kamijou Touma."

Just that, simple and casual, without the need for him to beat around the bush and make his introduction neither long nor confusing to understand. His words was normal, and fairly respectable in his own terms, and of course, his tone would be just a casual way as if he was speaking to a friend, regardless of who she is.
