THE ANGEL OF THE ICE

Cirno Iramasha
聖フェアリーガール

Song: STARFALL VILLAGE - Artist: YOUSUKE - Words: 753

Warmth. That was the first thing that the duo of young girls would notice as they made their dimensional jump between Karakura Central to the Iramasha Settlement. It was much more humid, hot and oh-so summer like in these lands as compared to the city. Which, ironically, was just fine to The Angel of the Ice. For as she appeared out of the cluster of crystal blue light, the frozen fairy 'gal truly didn't seem to mind the heat much. And -- you wouldn't either if you were able to constantly generate a field of frigid air around yourself. It was like having mobile air conditioning; one of the perks of possessing winter-esque abilities!

Regardless, as soon as the light faded from their vision, they'd come to realize that they had otherwise transported themselves to a sandy beach. There were nothing but palm trees, clear skies, ocean blue waters and small island homes for as far as they could see. And -- this was perfect! The reason why this location was ideal was because it was more isolated and away from the denser populations of the isle. So, that otherwise meant that Cirno could train her to her hearts content with a high chance of being interrupted. While, at the same time, being able to enjoy the summer sights of the beach and amuse herself with mother nature!

Seriously, again, you'd think this child would loathe the heat, but you'd be dead wrong. Digressing, The Angel of The Ice would let go of Kazumi's hand at this point. As, it can be assumed they safely made the jump and she would leap into the air with joy as she soaked up the UV rays.

"=w= Welcome to Iramasha Island. This is where your training will begin, Miss Kazumi!"

With a shout of pure of excitement, Cirno seemed rather happy to be here as she did her stretches to get the blood flowing in her body. After she was done with that, The Iramasha would turn her blue stare back to the likes of her golden haired friend and smile.

"I suppose the first thing I should do is give you some fire to work with. Right now? Yeah, you've got no flare in ya. Once I share a bit of my energy with you, you'll have a good power source to work from to build yourself up with! =w="

Of course, Cirno assumed a lot of this would go over her new student's head, so she would simply form a sphere of white light in her hands. This would contain a small sum of power in comparison to the volumes of energy that Cirno possessed in her body, but it would be more than enough to at least boost Kazumi's tier from 5-5 to 4-5 rather easily. Of course, she may feel like a freight train just railed her over, but The Angel of The Ice was willing to have her endure those side effects.

"Now, you may feel a little weird, but I promise everything is under control. I'm just giving you some of my energy to help make you a tad bit stronger. I'm scared to put too much into it, so I can assure that ya' be overcooked. =w="

Having said those oh-so-assuring words, The Angel of The Ice would then walk towards Kazumi and attempt to infuse this light into her body. While looking up at her, she'd then state one more important detail:

"Oh, I also won't force it on ya. So if you aren't comfortable with this, then all you have to do is use your willpower to reject it and it will go away. I won't put you through anything uncomfortable unless I felt like it could help ya, you know?"

Sounding a bit more serious then before, The Angel of The Ice was more straight-forward with her intents because she wanted to live up to the title of a heroine and heroines don't allow those under their watch to get hurt or killed. So, depending on the response Kazumi gave, she would either return it or go forward with the first phase of their training. The choice was entirely up to the human girl to decide.

Kazumi had unconsciously planted the thought in her head that the two would disembark from the crowded street and head for a quieter part of town. Teleportation never entered her mind though it should’ve been a possibility present in her mind given the nature of Cirno Iramasha. Though, to be fair she knew nothing about her saviour beyond what she had displayed during their short interaction. She no doubt believed that she would get to know the century old angel some more since she was her self-defense teacher, but that really didn’t help her in this present moment.

Cirno had stated that she would be taking her to an island named after those spiritual beings she knew nothing about after claiming her right hand. She really hadn’t the time to protest or question where this settlement was as she was engulfed by blue light along with the angel. Kazumi wasn’t sure what the angel was doing, but she could ask later if she was capable of remembering that upon reaching the settlement. There was actually a whole lot of questions the high-school student needed to ask Cirno, but such questions would need to wait for a perfect time before they were asked. Again, that’s if she could remember them.

She wasn’t sure how long it had taken Cirno to transport them from one area to another, but she did take note of several things upon the dimensional jump - she didn’t know they jumped dimensions, yet - such as the warmth and the fact they had gone from the slums to a beach. Kazumi blinked several times as she took in the new scenery. She was, obviously, awestruck by the entire area for this had been her first time at a beach. She had seen pictures of the place and even imagined going to one when she was younger, but she never imagined it could look so beautiful. Despite being use to the city and nothing but the city, she wasn’t counting the several occasions she had been to the slums, Kazumi could envision herself living in a place like this. Too bad her father would never allow it and that thought definitely put a damper on her mood.

Kazumi noted that she was thinking more and more of how unfair and controlling her father was with each passing day. It wasn’t something she was use to doing since she was the daughter that strived to maintain the family reputation and she wasn’t really sure she liked the feeling or not. So, she decided to shove those thoughts to the back of her mind and focus on attention on Cirno instead. Though the awed expression had been wiped from her face, she maintained a smile as her eyes drifted over to the clearly excited angel. She believed she had missed several things whilst she had been lost in thought and she hoped Cirno didn’t think she was being ignored since that wasn’t her intentions. She made another mental note to pay attention to her teacher as she listened to the blue-haired angel speak.

She didn’t really understand what Cirno meant by give her some fire, but the angel would clear up any confusion the teen had rather quickly. Her eyes would drift over to the white light the child formed, her mind quickly figuring out what the light was based on the words of the blue-haired child. Kazumi raised an eyebrow as she continued to examine the white sphere, though her eyes would quickly snap back to Cirno’s face the moment she started speaking again. She wished to ask how weird, but she felt like that was a stupid question to ask given how subjective the answer would be. So, she simply decided to allow the energy to be inserted into her body and if she didn’t like the feeling, she would request Cirno to remove it if possible. The angel’s words did well to ease any lingering reservations she had and so she continued to smile at the angel.

“You’ll be the first to know.”

With those words having come from her mouth, the energy had been inserted into her body and boy she wasn’t ready for it. She immediately felt heavier than she had ever been in her life and her mind tried to figure out how energy could do that. She did note that despite feeling like someone had thrown weights her way, she did feel stronger than she was a second ago. Kazumi wasn’t really sure how she would apply this new strength since felt like it would be a harder to move until her body got use to it, but it did feel nice. She could see why some people actively sought this sort of power. “Amazing.”

Great relief. That was the first sentiment that eased on into the Angel Iramasha as she witnessed the sphere of light press on into Kazumi. This is because it meant that the first phase of their training and self-defense lessons could fully begin. And, to not see her new friend a bloodied mess was also a bonus. After all, there was always that chance that her body could have rejected the energy.

So, after counting her lucky stars, Cirno would give a congratulatory thumbs up the sight of Kazumi still standing and breathing before her. Sure, things must've been moving way too fast for the girl to keep up with, but that's just the nature of The Ice Fairy. Always in a hurry, always moving fast and always rushing towards the next thing. It was hard for her to sometimes sit still, enjoy the scenery and let things flow slowly.

For this reason is why she then started to reflect a bit her hastiness and tried to allow time for the energy to further acclimate to her body. There was no doubt that there was at least some minor side effects plaguing the girl. As, more than anything else, Cirno could tell when someone was in pain and it looked as if her facial expression screamed: "HELP, I JUST HIT BY A TWO TON TRUCK!"

Even a naive child like Cirno could read that body language.

But, alas, she must've felt entirely empowered by all of that. So, Cirno would then begin walking towards the ocean and motioned for Kazumi to follow.

"You should follow me, Track-Rack. You are gonna need a little bit for that energy to make sense to your body. As right now, ya' body is most likely freaking out due to how much of a boost I gave it."

With that having been said in a whimsical tone, as if it were another day on the Beach, The Angel Of The Ice would then plop down on the sand in a gentle thud. Then she remember: oh yeah -- they were on a beach. So, she'd let out a small chuckle at this internal joke that passed over before looking over towards the shining sea with a smile.

"Hmmmm, Kazumi, I think this will help bring out whatever superpower your body has. Everyone in the world who has cool powers often starts by having energy."

Closing with a rosy smile and a cherry soft laugh, the Angel of The Ice seemed rather positive and assured that this pathway to strength and self-defense was the right way to go. So, she would provide a demonstration of what she meant by summoning a trace amount of her own energy to the surface. In the lands beneath her feet -- light started to emerge. It was a silver light and soon it started to levitate small chunks of sand no greater than a handful at best.

"I feel the reason a lot of people seek power is because it allows for miracles to take place. And in this world...many spirits look for that because things are pretty horrible."

Bit by bit, the over hyperactive eyes of the Iramasha dimmed and a softer look eased on into them. It was if she seemed at peace with something, but there was still a dull melancholy behind those expressions. Curling her legs up to her chest, The Iramasha let out a relaxed sigh and continued on as the specs of beach sand started to form floating beige castles around them.

"People want to feel safe. They want to feel....strong. Many of them....just want happiness. If power it is what it takes to get that happiness...then they will get it no matter what. And to me...I feel that is right...and wrong. It is why I decided to help you because I could sense that maybe you wanted that happiness to. But...if only to protect yourself from those who would use it in the wrong way."

There were pauses in the girls speech as she tried to learn how to better form these words. It wasn't that she didn't know what was on her mind, but it seemed difficult to express them properly with words. So, she formed another plot of sand above their castles and it was black in color due to her energy dying it in that shade with a simple magical spell. In this sand of darkness, Cirno formed it into a ball and had it crash into the sand castles before them and crush it.

"Just like many of the people of this planet and many others have done. Power is suppose to be a miracle that makes people happy, but I've learned that it can also cause great sadness and fear."

Blinking for a moment, the Angel would cease in her speaking and flash back to some of the conflicts she herself had been apart on Earth. Remembering all those burning buildings, ruined lives and corpses that littered the streets in endless war; Cirno sighed and knew that it wasn't right. It -- just wasn't. And she certainly wasn't helping matters. So maybe, just maybe, if she could make it up bit by bit by helping the people of this planet -- maybe she could atone for that.

Hence, it is with a easy going and relaxed smile that The Angel of The Ice would turn around and look at Kazumi.

"So, it is up to people like myself who fight for justice to help protect that. And that is why I wanted to help you. Maybe you can become a protector justice...even if it is just protecting yourself at school and making sure the people you care about are safe. That is what Angel's are suppose to do for mankind."

And with that, a big teeth smiled appeared across the child's lips as she finished her statements and hoped Kazumi would understand why she gave her this new start.

Track-Rack? Another nickname the blonde had earned no doubt though she definitely preferred Goldilocks over Track-Rack. She couldn’t really place her finger on it, but Track-Rack just didn’t sound right to her. Sure, she was a track-star per say, but she didn’t think it really warranted the new nickname the angel had bestowed upon her. She followed Cirno as she mused over the answer to this unimportant question she had become so intrigued by, totally forgetting her silent note to pay attention to the child that was helping her, though she wouldn’t be stuck in her thoughts for very long. The voice of the blue-haired child snapped her out of her reveries, the blonde blinking several times as she regained her senses.

Kazumi immediately took note of the fact that the angel had plopped her enthusiastic self on the sand and for a flitting moment she wondered how long Cirno would sit still before she started moving again. She raised an eyebrow, but refrained from saying anything at Cirno’s next set of words, deciding to sit a little off to the side of the angel. She smiled like a child would as she dug her shoes into the sand, briefly wondering if it would be more enjoyable if she dug her bare feet into the sand instead of her shoes. She actually contemplated removing her shoes and socks so she could do just that, the blonde wanting to enjoy the beach as much as she could since she didn’t know when the next time she would be able to do this, but she resisted the urge.

She was here for some training, not to enjoy a day on the beach and so she would focus on just that. With her mind off sand, she could better concentrate on her teacher which was good seeing as how Cirno was telling and demonstrating some important stuff. She cocked her head to the side as she continued to listen to Cirno, taking note that the girl seemed less enthused than she had been seconds ago. Kazumi immediately chalked it up to the words that her just spilled forth from her mouth or painful memories that resulted in her own words for it was the most logical conclusion to come to in her ever so humble opinion. She, personally, couldn’t relate to whatever had put a damper on Cirno’s mood for she wasn’t fully aware of the going on outside of Karakura Central. Sure, she knew it was pretty bad outside of the city, but nothing else beyond that. She guessed she should better educate herself on such a thing, but that would have to wait until she returned home. She would certainly have plenty of time to do her research seeing how she was getting grounded as soon as she got home.

Kazumi contemplated rather or not she should say something to cheer the angel up, but such a thing would not be needed of her since Cirno seemed to have cheered up by herself from what she could tell from the smile. Without even thinking about it, she smiled back at the angel and at that moment decided that she wished to make the angel proud. The blonde wasn’t sure where the feeling had come from nor why it had sprung up, but she didn’t try to fight it. She had been idle for far too long, ignoring what was going on outside of her protective bubble in order to please her father instead of doing what she could to protect people. Though the family’s reputation was still very much important to her, it didn’t have to be the basis of all her decisions. She promised herself that she would start doing her own thing with little regard for the Sakurai name, but getting out of the mindset she had possessed her entire life was easier stated than done and she would find out how difficult it would be to go against the wishes of her parents later on. Yet, for the moment she believed she could do it.

“I hope so too,” she said, head still tilted to the side, smile intact, and eyes closed. “When do we begin the fight for justice?”

Artist: KC OST - Song: Door Into Summer Music - Word Count: 1020

The moment in which Kazumi started smiling back at The Angel Of The Ice was the same moment that Cirno felt that they could move on with the actual lessons. After all, if she was in a good enough state of mine to smile, then she was more than able to bare the load of her energy now. As, to Cirno, it ultimately meant that the girl's body had tolerated and accepted the energy swirling about within her. So, while baring those thoughts in mind, The Ice Fairy leaped back up into a standing position and smiled as she knew where to take this place next.

"Well, I guess the next step will be teaching you how to actually fight. And, since I'm not sure you have any awesome powers at the moment, the best place to start is hand-to-hand!"

In one energetic shout did Cirno unleash those enthusiastic words from her mouth. What followed after them was a swift upper kick that sent sand scattering around them in a bronze downpour of beach soil. With a huge grin spread across her rosy cheeks, The Angel was proud of herself and sent her foot down in one fine kick to the earth. Soon, this feisty little Iramasha planned to give Kazumi the same swiftness, efficiency and destructive power in her hits that she possessed. So, with two extensions of her legs would she then toss off her shoes. Following that came the removal of her socks and she was more than ready to go!

"Aye! My shoes were getting a bit too sandy for my taste. =w="

As Cirno rubbed her nose, she felt as if she should have done that earlier. The warmth of the sand between her toes felt almost good as The Ice Fairy made a few silent giggles at the sensation smothering against the soles of her feet. But, alas, this lone little girl wasn't entirely here to come on vacation. No, no, no! The Angel needed to go back to focusing on training up her new friend and ally of justice!

So, as she coughed and looked back into Kazumi's eyes, The Ice Iramasha snickered and uttered these words:

"I'm going to want you to stand. I was waiting for the energy I gave you to settle in. Now that has, I want you to start with ten straight line punches in a row."

And, of course, Cirno would demonstrate. Each of her legs spread, while her hands then came close to her face. This was important because she could easily block an attacker should they come face to face with her. Furthermore, with the stance she took, it allowed for nimble movement and the ability to change positions at a moments notice given her speed. Thus, she would then focus her energy into the limbs her hands.

In mere milliseconds would they then react by unleashing five fast punches each to add up to a sum total of ten strikes done in three seconds flat. Every punch to the air generated a harsh force that came as a strong gust of wind and sent more sand fluttering in the breeze around them. Indeed, if Kazumi was struck down by any of these hits, she may face a bit more than a bruise as they were capable of putting a serious dent in most armor more than likely.

When finished, however, Cirno would give a thumbs up to Kazumi and expect her to do something similar. As a result, she would then try to explain it the best way she could:

"You need to make sure you can feel your whole body in combat. Feel the surge of power within yourself and channel that awesome strength throughout the pathways of energy inside of you! Guide that sweet power as if it were another extension of your body and use it to empower your strikes to hit hard!"

At this point, Cirno would give another demonstration. Turning her body to the sea, The Angel of The Ice smirked because she was summoning a fair amount of her bodies own energy. This could be seen by her right hand becoming devoured by a white light. After a few seconds of charge, she let loose a daunting hard punch that cut a pathway in the ocean waters as if she were Moses himself. It spread for roughly a half mile before gradually dying off. But, in it wake, the entire area would strike and it was as if a typhoon itself had roared down on the beach for that brief moment. Water sprayed them all, but Cirno used her energy to deflect it away from both herself and Kazumi in order to keep them dry.

Ergo, instead, after all that, they'd only get a rainbow to view as she grinned at her own strength.

"Use it to allow your fighting to ascend and go to a level beyond your wildest dreams. Remember, energy is the key to miracles. And the stronger you envision that miracle in your mind, the more empowered your body will become and the harder it will react to reach your most brightest dreams!"

With a thumbs up given after her cheery explanation of the matter, Cirno would hope that some of this would begin to sink into her new student. As, to The Angel Of The Ice, the world around them was filled with blessing that they just had to tap into with their inner spiritual energy. It is what allowed her to come this far in the pinnacle of her own strength because she had such an intense desire to do what was "good" from her perceived state of mind. This reason gave her a purpose to further her training, put herself through high-risk situation and go through abnormal means in order to obtain this divine gift to bless others with.

So long as someone had that powerful desire to reach their dreams -- anything was possible in this world.

Kazumi had a feeling she should’ve expected Cirno to jump right back into her enthused persona quickly. There had simply been no evidence of the girl being capable of being solemn for too long. She did note that the angel seemed to bounce from emotion to emotion at a drop of a hat, though she didn’t have enough information to confirm that. She did like the fact that the kid could become happy so quickly though for she wasn’t really sure how she would’ve handled a teacher whose mind was on, obviously, bad memories. She maintained her smile as she watched the girl discard her shoes and removed her socks. Once again to do the same was brought up within the blonde, but she refrained from acting on it.

Besides, she was on her feet soon enough at the behest of Cirno. She wiped the sand from her bloomers and legs, the tiny grains having decided to glue themselves to the blonde. Ten straight line punches was to be her first challenge, one that Kazumi would believe a simple task to accomplish and one she could complete in seconds. Asking for Cirno to demonstrate exactly what she wanted was unneeded, the angel showing her how it was done. She took note of the way the angel stood as well as the position of her hands and the power she generated with each thrust. She wasn’t sure if the kid could generate that much force alone or if energy was involved, but she leaned towards energy being utilized since some had been embedded into her body a couple minutes ago. It was probably due to that same energy that Kazumi didn’t end up with a broken rib or a painful bruise, but she didn’t fully realize the extent of the energy given to her by Cirno. She would know someday.

Kazumi believed she understood what Cirno was saying - her comprehension skills have always been stellar - yet she wouldn’t complain about the angel giving another demonstration. The more she understood what was desired of her, the better she would be able to meet the angels expectations unless those expectations were ridiculously high for some strange reason. She did have to admit that she wouldn’t be mimicking Cirno’s second demonstration for a moment, probably a good couple months by her estimate since she didn’t want to give herself too much or too little credit now. She was confident in her abilities, but she was also realistic.

She stared at Cirno for a hot minute even after the angel was done speaking, her mind going over what had been said as well as what had been shown. Kazumi knew she needed to put it to good use and reviewing what she had learned before actually putting it into practice. It was the normal thing for her to do and since she was use to processing information like this, she was ready to begin the second - or was it third? - step of her training. With eyes closed, she got into the position Cirno had shown her and the moment she opened her eyes, she thrust her balled fist forward in a slow and deliberate manner. They looked rather pathetic compared to Cirno’s, but Kazumi was simply getting a feeling of things. This was her first time thrusting her fist forward in a manner meant to harm someone for she was use to avoiding conflict all together, so she thought she needed to get in a couple practice punches before getting to the real thing.

Kazumi seemed a bit under certain with herself for a split second after doing that first set, but she immediately regained her confidence. She refused to be deterred and so with determination she imagined the energy within her body gathering in her limbs, ready to be unleashed by several thrust of her hands. Sadly though, she didn’t have the control needed to maintain any energy she unleashed from her punches, only releasing energy for her first three strikes, the rest being normal. On top of that, the burst of energy was significantly smaller than Cirno’s, but she had expected that. She had lived her entire life as nothing more than the daughter of a rich who was a part of her schools track team. So, with a slight frown on her face, her eyes would turn to Cirno and cock her head to the side. “Again? Or this the part where I get tips?”

Cirno could tell that Kazumi was somewhat disappointing, but there was no such thing as failure or shame in her camp. Every setback was just a stepping stone to make her overall success and victory in this training that much more stellar. Therefore, she'd give her a thumbs up to show her encouragement because it was a good first try in the eyes of The Iramasha. After all, one didn't expect someone fresh out inexperience to become a master of fighting in one day. That was unheard of -- at least to The Angel Iramasha's understanding, anyway

"Good job. I'd say you'd just need to keep focus. Even if you feel yourself about to give way, ignore it and try to press on with the feeling. You are going to need to build some resistance and the only way to do that is by pushing your body. So this time, don't worry about focusing your energy into punching big ol' holes in the ground. Instead, use it to try and see if you can improve your stamina!"

Then, with a snap of her fingers, Cirno grinned and then pointed directly at Kazumi with each of her index fingers.

"So, I want you to do fifty straight punches, but try to use your energy to help cover the fatigue. You'll last a lot longer in fights that way."

Then, as per usual, Cirno decided to give an illustration of how it is done. Her arms would become devoured by a silver light once more and she'd take a deep breath to ease the tensions flowing in her body. After that, it was just a matter of focusing her power and using it to unleash a flurry of one hundred punches in a span of ten seconds. This is equivalent to delivering ten punches every second thanks to the boost her energy gave her.

Thus, when The Angel Of The Ice concluded, a big grin washed over her face as she was assured that Kazumi could indeed do the same once she started getting more of her training underway. But, perhaps the biggest thing that was missing was a crux. That is to say: there needed to be something to force Kazumi to tap into her power. After all, every good hero has something that forces to find their own inner strength and her training pupil was no exception to that rule!

Henceforth, to help push the blue-eyed vixen along, Cirno decided to make an ice replica of herself. By holding her hands and channeling her spiritual and chaos energies ten ahead of the Iramasha, The Angel was able to create a shell of herself comprised entirely out of ice. With another wave of Iramasha Magic, she was then able to give it flesh and bring it to life as it's frigid and dead stare gazed over Kazumi.

"Ho'kay, so here is the plan: I made this little clone here to help you train. It should be on the same level of power you are. As, if I created it closer to my level, that would just be unfair. All of its stats are similar to yours and it is going to be attacking you. You are going to need to summon that super awesome strength and beat it!"

With a clap of her hands, Cirno then activated the offensive mechanisms within the doll in order for it to begin charging at Kazumi with a grin. The Angel Of The Ice would then sit Indian style and begin to levitate in the air as she observed the match-up taking place. She was certain that this would be a good first spar to have as it shouldn't be too difficult to overcome in her eyes. It was more of a way for Kazumi to get a hands on feel for combat.

So, having said that, The Clone started its sluggish hits and aimed to punch Kazumi once in her gut with a straight-line punch. Then, it would use its other hand in order to try and uppercut her at rather slow speeds. From there, it would turn on its sides and then try to deliver a sound kick to the face before back flipping roughly ten feet away from Kazumi to gain distance and come back in for a second charge if her moves went as intended.

"Remember, let your energy guide you and help you unlock the strength within. You have the same potential to do similar feats as that dolls. You just have to bring it out."

In those shouting words of encouragement, The Iramasha kept trying to motivate Kazumi to push harder as her icy stare kept watch of the battle with intent interest. If things went as planned? Then her student would come out a much stronger person and fighter for it. If not? Then they'd simply keep training until she reached that point. That's all there was to it in the mind of Cirno.

She inhaled sharply as she listened to the angel’s critics, her left hand rested on her hip whilst her right arm hung loosely. The blonde’s head was tilted to the left - that was becoming a habit - her blue eyes fixated on her teacher as her mind figured out what went wrong. She knew her first three strikes of the second set had been good, but she hadn’t been able to maintain it and so she didn’t finish the set strong. It made her a little frustrated, but she did not allow it to show upon her face for she wish not to look like a brat before Cirno.

So, the blonde shoved her frustrations to the side and took note of the angel’s critics for they were important to her. She, Cirno, had chalked up her inability to continue producing the energy to a lack of focus or her inability to focus on anything else but producing the same amount of devastating effects she had done during the demonstration. Kazumi couldn’t say if the angel was right, but she saw the latter option to be a plausible reason why she had just stopped incorporating energy into her thrusts.

She assumed that Cirno would have her do those ten strikes again, but the blue-haired fairy had decided to up the ante. It went from ten punches to fifty, a task that Kazumi was pretty sure she couldn’t complete. She was aware that her face probably gave off the impression that she thought her teacher’s task to be absolutely ludicrous at the moment; and though she didn’t want to seem ungrateful or anything, she just couldn’t mask it. She was skeptical, really skeptical, and that was evident, but the blonde would do it. Just not right away, the angel giving her another demonstration which gave her the impression that either the girl hadn’t seen her face or didn’t care what thoughts were running rampant within her mind.

With the demonstration out of the way, Kazumi prepared to perform her task, but stopped the moment the angel began forming something. More? That had been the thought that ran through the mind of the blonde as she assumed the same stance as Cirno. She blinked several times as her mind processed what stood before her. Two Cirno, the clone looking like the original in every way except for the eyes. Where the original’s were vibrant and full of life, the clone’s looked cold and unfeeling - pretty much dead. She stared at the clone some more, breaking the stance she had assumed as her mind focused on it, but she would be snapped out of her trance by Cirno.

“Wait. What?” She asked upon hearing the word attack leave the angel’s mouth. Though the thought of having to beat the clone caused the blonde’s voice to go up several. “Eh?! Wait. Time out! Don’t you think we should-“ The clone movement caused Kazumi to shut her mouth, her flight or fight response becoming active upon her mind perceiving the clone as a threat to her safety. Of course, Kazumi picked the flight response, the blonde letting out a high pitched ‘eeek’ as she ran from the clone. Flight, a response she was use to taking seeing as how she avoided conflict as if it were the plague itself, forgetting for a minute what this lesson was all about.

So, yes, she ran from the clone for a good couple of seconds, caring not for if Cirno was laughing her head off at the display. Yet, upon remembering that the angel was trying to teach her how to fight and her mind telling her that fleeing wasn’t part of the lesson, Kazumi would stop running and turn sharply, throwing her left fist forward. Her eyes were closed so she wasn’t entirely sure what she was aiming at, but she could tell she had thrown a regular punch. How? Well she hadn’t felt the surge of energy flow through her body and concentrate into her fist like she had when she first accomplished that goal. She was also pretty damn sure that her hit connected to nothing or the clone was unaffected by it if her strike did connect. She was also pretty sure she wished not to open her eyes, but she did because fighting blind really wasn’t a good idea. And depending on what she saw, well she may just resume running if the clone didn’t decide to teach her a thing or two about pain.

Hehehe~! The expression on the blonde faces told Cirno that this lass was utterly dumbfounded by some of her antics. But, despite that, The Angel of The Ice firmly believed it would all sink in due time. When you are put into critical situations, you either think on your feet -- or call on your behind to death. And, if Kazumi was any student of Cirno's, she'd surely rise to the top of the occasion and win the fight against adversity! Therefore, it was caution to the wind for The Icy Fairy Iramasha as she let out a playful laugh at her students dismay.

"Don't worry, Track-Rack, I believe in you! You humans are pretty good at spooking us supernatural folk these days. So tap into your energy's potential and rip it out! Go, go, go, go, go, go!"

At this point, Cirno would then produce two pars of white and blue pom-poms in her hands through the handy-dandy art of Chaos Magic. Then, The Iramasha would start dancing her bare feet against the warm sands and cheering on her lovely student to victory as she grinned and snickered throughout the whole ordeal.

"K-A-Z-U-M-I! YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT! IF YOU CANT' DO IT...then you suck, bakkkaaaaaa~!"

At the end of that little chant, Cirno stuck her tongue straight out at the vixen and snickered with mischievous glee. Sure, she was taunting her a bit, but it was only out of fun. So, she decided to follow up with a more "positive" chant:

"BUT, K-A-Z-U-M-I! EVEN IF YOU S-U-C-K, YOU'LL STILL GET BACK AND W-I-N BECAUSE YOU ARE T-R-A-C-K R-A-C-K! NOTHING STOPS THE TRACK RACK!"

Good job there, Cirno.

Digressing, it was at this time that the clone needed to otherwise step her game up and begin putting the pressure on the human girl. It would not allow her much time to question the circumstance she was thrown into. For, more than anything else, this was about thinking on your feet and she needed to tap into that state of improvised fighting if Kazumi wanted to deal with many of the twist, turns and surprises that could occur in combat. Therefore, Cirno would give a thumbs up in regards to her response to the threat.

"Nice speed, Track-Rack!"

This remark wasn't sarcastic by any means, though it might have certainly been to the blonde girlie over there.

Why would she applaud fleeing from the scene? Simple: tactical retreats are totally fair in war and battle. Sometimes you needed to gather more space in order to pull off some incredibly awesome move, or perhaps prevent yourself from being turned into a pool of blood, guts and bones. And, given the fact she had enough speed to otherwise escape the range of the clone indicated to her that the effects of her energy infusion were indeed coming to pass.

Nevertheless, after The Frigid Clone chased after the fearfully fast lass, it would come to a sharp halt as it took the punch head first.

...

Super cold.

That's the first line of thought that may ooze into Kazumi's consciousness. This replica was compromised entirely out of ice with a false layer of energized skin coating it. So, the first sensation that should rip into The Blondie's body is one of absolute cold. Second, after that, a sharp sense of pain would more than likely follow because the creature's body was relatively dense and hard. It would be like punching a frozen rock without any enhancements made to her punch. Hopefully for her, however, the adrenaline would mask the pain. After all, she was in a fight or flight state, so maybe she might just ignore the pain. But, at the very least, there would perhaps be a red mark or so on her fist.

Moving on, the clone would stand there for a few moments before giving -- a hug! Yes! She squeezed Kazumi with the utmost of affection. A kind of -- sadistic affection. Seconds passed and this grip would become increasingly tighter to the point where she was now in a body lock. It is at this point where Cirno would then attempt to chime in and give some coaching advise to the scared human:

"Good. Ride that fear out! Use it to make you stronger! There is no shame in being afraid because all fighters are on some level, Kazumi! Go with it and use that terror to help awaken your abilities! If you want that clone off of you, you have to augment yourself and use your energy to force her away from you."

These words would be shouted in a much more serious tone than before, as it seemed most of the jokes from the child were over and she was going into instructor mode. Why was this so? Everything she spoke was from the heart and none of it was just feel good non-sense. Without fear, Cirno believed there wasn't much to a fighter because they'd have no reason to fight to begin with.

When one lacks that primal anxiety, there simply wouldn't be much passion, thought or development in themselves because that internal dread leads to a sense of progression and change in a person. That fear, in other words, helps them to grow and overcome the challenge so that they may reach a stronger version of themselves. Some can control their fear, others can suppress it; but all fighters have it!

"Have that energy come from deep within your heart and then have it flow from your heart, to your limbs, to your mind and every inch of your body until you are devoured by that awesome power that comes from within. You can do this, Kazumi. I strongly have faith in you!"

And thus, in those encouraging words, was it then time for Kazumi to come to terms with her own panic and shock and use it as power. If she couldn't? Then chances are, she wasn't going to win this practice fight. Hence, Cirno believed with all of her heart that she could see this for herself and hopefully her time to shine would come soon afterward.

Idiot! Was the first mental thought that rushed into Kazumi’s head upon her fist making contact with the target. She grinded her teeth as a chill ran down her arm and up her spin, her body shivering from the cold. Pain blossomed in her hand, but it really wasn’t as painful as one would think given the fact that she had punched a clone made of ice. Yeah, that had definitely been on stupid move on her part and she should probably make distance between herself in said clone, but she was stunned that fist had met the clone’s face. She blinked several times and when her body was wrecked with chills once again, she pulled her fist back. She noted that it was rather painful, but she had no plans of inspecting her injury any further. She needed to get away from the -

“Eh?”

clone. Kazumi blinked several times once again as her mind slowly processed the fact that the clone had enveloped her in a hug. Confusion spread across the blonde’s face and she began to squirm, resisting the normal urge to hug the clone back for it was far too cold for her to be comfortable with prolong exposure and this was a training session. She struggled harder the moment she realized the clone was tightening her hold on her, a frustrated expression on her face as she attempted to shove it away. Fear, of course, was creeping up on her once again, the confusion gone as was the feeling of being cold; all she was concerned with now was getting away from this clone before she got hugged to death - that would be a very odd way to go now wouldn’t it?

Kazumi was panicking which meant she wasn’t thinking or really listening to what Cirno was saying. She did catch tidbits here and there, but not enough to make a well educated guess of what the angel was trying to communicate to her. So, she attempted to calm herself down just enough so that she may think clearly or come up with some sort of way to get out of this hold before she ended up with some nasty bruises as a result of the clone’s tight grip. She took a deep breath, wincing a little bit as the grip got a little tighter, but she ignored the pain that was beginning to creep up on her once again - it was dull, so an easy task.

Breathing did calm her down enough to think and she had done it just in time to hear Cirno hand out some encouraging words. The angel had been encouraging her throughout this entire fight now that she thought about it though she hadn’t been paying attention to them whilst she ran from the clone, but now that she was sort of stuck, she could actually pay some mind to the words that left Cirno’s mouth. They were comforting in a way and had a calming effect on the blonde that she had forgotten about the clone that was attempting to squeeze her to death for a split second.

Yet, it was only for a split second, her mind returning to what she must do to defeat this clone. For some reason, Kazumi felt like she needed to make Cirno proud, the only way to do that was to meet her expectations and finish this task. She closed her eyes, took another deep breath, and felt for that energy Cirno spoke of with the intentions of manifesting it and using it to shove the clone away from her. She didn’t think too hard about how she would go about doing that, just enough to focus on drawing out the energy in the way Cirno described it.

Energy began flowing throughout Kazumi’s body, starting at the core and making its way throughout her body. It had been a slow build up, but the rate it gathered and flowed throughout her body increased dramatically within seconds. Without any effort on her part, the energy exploded from her body. The burst felt like a strong gust of wind, the power causing the small particles of sand to fly away from her. It, the energy, would die down within seconds, the strong winds becoming nothing more than a breeze, and the sand would settle back on the beach. She felt the energy within her own body slowly receded back to her core and the blonde cracked open one eye to see what had occurred.

If she had blown the clone away with that burst of energy, Kazumi would immediately take note of the lack of arms around her and she would also notice the fact that she no longer felt cold. Blue eyes would seek out the clone, the blonde wanting to know what happened to the clone. If she couldn’t spot it, she would look at Cirno with a questioning look on her face, an eyebrow raised. If she spotted the clone though, she would be ready to flee but would wait to see what it did before doing anything.

Of course, that was dependent on the clone’s hold being relinquished. If it hadn’t, well, that was an entirely different problem and she would have to think of something else.
