THE QUINCY TEMPLATE
I. Basic Information» Name:
Sprache Himmelsgnade» Titles:
Unaffiliated» Physical Appearance Image:
II. Personality Traits» Personality:
Sprache is an excitable individual to put it in the most base and honestly rather undeserving terms. He is constantly moving and constantly smiling in the sort of wild and almost maniacal way that Sprache seems to have unique to his little energizer bunny self. He will joyously jump around at the slightest provocation and occasionally seems to be a bit dull. The Quincy also thoroughly enjoys sharing that energetic personality with other people. Sprache will quite often seek out others for the social interaction and seems to often speak without bothering to think about what he’s saying. This causes Sprache to constantly be seeking some form of companionship in the most energetic way possible which will either come off as being a little bit dull or at least with a sense of sarcasm so utterly advanced that he looked stupid.
The latter is closer to the truth. Behind the excitable man is an incredibly acute and analytical mind. Sprache’s capacity to ferret out necessary information and propose solutions is seemingly a supernatural skill all on its own. He has very developed problem solving skills and is capable of quite a bit intellectually, his mind is capable of calculating numerous mathematical scenarios in extraordinarily short fashion and can often apply this in self-defense,
Despite his exuberant and frequently rather childish behavior, Sprache is not inherently an idiot and is in fact quite intelligent, even beyond the hyperactive cognitive abilities that he has been blessed with. While inexperienced, Sprache is very quick to grasp new concepts and learns at a frighteningly astounding rate. This rapidly developing learning cognizance makes the young man a very formidable opponent despite his utter lack of real understanding as to his origin or his species.
The second intrinsically core part of Sprache’s personality is that he is very very loyal. Once, if ever, the man declares any semblance of allegiance or loyalty to any one person, organization, entity, he is entirely and wholly loyal to one of the aforementioned entities. He sees any such commitment as a binding contract and promise between himself and whatever he finds himself loyal to and he is very determined to maintain that. This comes from an incredibly deep seated sense of honesty that the man holds rather dear to his heart. Being oblivious to who or what he is, Sprache’s sense of honesty comes off as incredibly genuine almost to the point of not fully understanding deception. He understands the concept of a lie and will, ultimately, be cognizant of the possibility, but the motivation for such things is typically lost on him and does not provoke understanding. Consequently, being caught in a lie by him tends to lead to animosity at best and outright violence at worst.
It is with that in mind that really demonstrates just who and what Sprache is. Not possessing any memories prior to the destruction of the moon, the man comes off as a little desperate and is seemingly in a constant search for who and what he is and where these mysterious powers that he seems to naturally have come from and the man will seemingly, potentially naively, latch on to anyone who is willing and able to give him the answers that he is looking for. Due to those lack of memories however, Sprache’s thought processes are considerably more tactical than strategic. The man has intuition in leaps and bounds, able to dissect the proper response to the immediate perils with alarming accuracy and speed, but the big picture plan is something that he frequently struggles with. It is a chief reason that he will, with seemingly little provocation, latch onto someone who can paint him his big picture.
This attention to detail is something that follows him into other pursuits however. He is unsure as to who or what he was before his recently awoke, but his body does seem to instinctively know what to do to calm himself down. Often his compatriots will find him drawing absolutely breathtaking pictures or sculpting wonderful, sometimes seemingly prophetic in its depth prose. It is during these artistic fits that the typically extroverted and excitable man will withdraw.
III. Character History» History
Sprache, undoubtedly, has a long and storied past full of intrigue, exploits and mysterious circumstances that could probably fill multiple story books. However, he cannot remember a single one of them. The man known as Sprache only has memories of his life from the day after the Moon’s Destruction and onward and this has led to some, well, amusing circumstances. Sprache knew only that he had a power, how that power worked, and that he was in danger. The last point was a little more evident than that passage would necessarily make it sound. Sprache’s earliest member was waking up on a cold metal table in a completely non-descript and vacant room filled with medical equipment. Pulling himself together, the man was lost and confused as he got up off that table and set off into the world. As soon as he got out the door he was helpfully mauled by the Hospital staff. Apparently in this world whenever someone spontaneously comes back from the dead the proper course of action is to try to put them back in their damn bed. Sprache fought his way out, physically overpowering the attendants set to guard him and forcing his way out into the night.
Once he did, Sprache found himself in a rather unpopulated area of woods. He was lost, he was confused, he was panicked and he was resorting to following the only thing that was giving him answers, his instinct. The man fled the hustle and bustle of the city and broke out in to the wooded area around them as the searchlights blazed in his dust searching for the elusive man. It was in this trip through the woods that Sprache began to realize that, while they looked similar, he was decided not like the creatures he pushed through to get his freedom. It became even more apparent when Sprache found himself lined up against a large creature with shaggy brown fur. Staring him down was a large brown bear, something he should not be able to take in a hand to hand fight. Of course, what he “should” be able to do was becoming less and less relevant. The bear tried to attack and instinct took over once again as Sprache managed to strangle the bear with his hospital gown. Then its mate appeared and once more instinct took over...however this time it was not something anyone could be prepared for. It was in one fluid motion that Sprache would turn and fire his Heilig Pfeil at the bear, piercing its skull with the arrow of light and killing it instantly. Sprache was more confused than the bear.
Sprache would spend three more weeks in these woods, trying to figure more and more out about who he was and what he could do. It was during this time that he discovered just what his own special ability could do. Using his ability to generate phenomenon with the power of randomly generated letters, Sprache would go on to craft himself a set of clothes and a temporary roof over his head. Unfortunately, that was about the extent of Sprache’s life. He ventured out from his woods a few times and eventually learned more and more about the world he had forgotten. He had determined that he was in fact human, none of the other signs really pointed to him being anything else as he had a physical body that didn’t detach as far as he knew. Thus the question remained as to just what kind of human he was. It was an answer he did not yet have. That was where we leave off on Sprache’s story as he slowly discovers his own powers at his breakneck self taught pace, waiting patiently for someone or something to finally make any damn sense.
IV. Equipment» Equipment:
V. Natural Abilities & Skills» Skills: Mediocre Archer:
Sprache is a quincy and, consequently, he is afforded all the typical Quincy abilities such as the capacity for laser arrows, however as Sprache has had no formal training, his entire ability as an archer is self taught and instinctual. A lot of the technique and repetition honed skills of his fellow Quincy considerably outstrip his own, intuition centric and rather haphazard firing style. This does make Sprache’s trajectory on his arrows considerably more of a challenge to follow than some others would be...primarily because it’s difficult to predict where he will shoot when the target probably isn’t what he is aiming at. Sprache is competent enough to hit a target, but if you were looking for pinpoint accuracy to wow a crowd or win a 13th century competition for the hand of a fair maiden that will allow you to run off and steal from the rich to give to the needy and in general piss off the authorities of Nottingham, Sprache is not the ideal candidate, other than the dashing good looks part. Sprache, in general, tends to prefer using his hands. In Born Martial Talent:
Sprache, while not exactly the most fascinatingly talented archer, IS one of the most talented hand to hand combatants in terms of sheer instinctual intuition that the Quincy race had ever seen. Sprache’s ability in close quarters combat is unrefined, wild, erratic and terribly effective. Even without utilizing his spiritual abilities, Sprache had been found wrestling bears into submission with nothing but his own strength and skill. These facets are only exacerbated further when he utilizes his Quincy abilities.
Sprache, having no memories, does not seem to have any formal training to complement his innate talent. The man has no form, no structure, no anything to his movements. He seems to have no formal training at all whatsoever, but one cannot deny the effectiveness. If a label needed to be created for it, the style of combat could be considered a form of hyper intuitive street fighting, but even that did not do Sprache’s hand to hand combat justice. The man seems to fight with every style at once while seemingly having no style at all. On top of his physical abilities, this makes his movements nearly impossible to predict or even really follow with any kind of premeditation, forcing any fight with Sprache to be a completely reactionary one as even he doesn’t seem to know what he is going to do.Natural Talent:
Like most things involving Sprache, there does not seem to be any form, rhyme or reason to the things he does and does not know how to do. On many occasions a situation will arise where Sprache will be inexplicably amazing at whatever task they were assigned and he will have utterly no idea why or how he knows how to do something. The talents that seem to bring him the most happiness and that are the most recurring are his propensity for art and literature. They also seem to be the most mysterious talents he has, as Sprache will frequently paint pictures of things he has never seen before and write prose that seems to depict things that have not yet happened. How much of this is Sprache’s knowledge of the future and how much of this is complete and utter coincidence is a subject of much debate, but “spooky” is the best descriptor for his talents.
VII. Quincy Skills & Abilities» Quincy Skills: Absolutely Ridiculous Spiritual Power:
The full scope of Sprache's genuine power is absurd. It is not outwardly apparent looking at him, he gives off the type of presence that would be expected of a Quincy of his stature, but the actual energy he has at is his disposal should not be nearly as plentiful as it is. Sprache however has absolutely no means to fully tap in to his astronomical energy reserves. Instead, this massive well is only able to serve to allow his power, The Scrabble, to break the restraints of Sprache's tier when the situation allows it. Furiously Intuitive Blut:
As in many things involving the man, Sprache's blut is very much unique and confusing. Most Quincies have two very specific forms of Blut that they utilize. The Blut Arterie for offensive purposes and the Blut Vene for defensive purposes. The main purpose behind this convention is that having a focused and pinpoint objective when utilizing so much spiritual energy limits waste and maximizes efficiency, similar to how a martial arts style practices specific movements to maximize efficiency of the body. Once again showcasing that he's weird, Sprache's Blut does not conform to this typical Quincy convention and Sprache has no formal training as a Quincy. Due to the absolutely massive pool of energy that the man has at his disposal, the need for efficiency is not nearly as essential and the strength of the Blut is very comparable to the more efficient practitioners in addition to having one very key advantage, Sprache's Blut is not an activated ability. The man is in a constant state of Blut that most would need to consciously engage in. His body is always at its prime durability and his attacks are always at their prime potency simply because he exists. He is constantly delivering blow and taking attacks as if he was a quincy focusing solely on those attributes
That is not to say the intensity of his abilities is not capable of increasing. The longer that Sprache's blut is engaged in a heightened state of danger, it will keep ramping up in order to prevent damage from being sustained by Sprache. The power of Sprache's blut fluctuates based on how long he is in danger and the angrier he gets at the fact that he is still forced to fight. How angry and engaged Sprache's Blut gets works on one hundred point anger metric. Each point of rage increases Sprache’s strength, speed, and tolerance to pain and injury by 50% Whenever Sprache is within five meters of his opponent, he gains three points of rage for that post. Whenever he is forced outside of five meters, he loses three points of rage. Every time his attacks connect with anything, he gains two points of rage and any time he is struck he gains five points of rage. There are aesthetic visible changes to both Sprache's aura and skin tone at every 25% rage capacity and will begin to emanate a differently colored glow. At 0% it will appear devoid of a glow, at 25% it will have a blue hue, at 50% a green, at 75% a yellow, and at 100% will contain a rather ominous red color.Blut Wake:
Sprache's presence is immense and wherever he goes definitely will have its marks it. Whenever Sprache is in combat and moves, a distinct trail of Reishi is left in his wake and will linger for as long as Sprache is engaged in hostilities. The trails are highly visible, as if someone took a paintbrush to the air. The color of these trails is dependent upon how angry Sprache's blut is, ranging from a translucent mist to a vibrant red.
Anything that transgresses in to these trails will be subjected to a myriad of effects depending upon whether or not they are the object of Sprache's Blut Anger. Allies who are inside these trails will find themselves filled with energy and will find half of the bonuses that Sprache enjoys from his rage mechanic will be passed on to them. For example, if Sprache is at 50% rage, an ally inside the trail will be granted a 25% boost to all their parameters. For enemies, the opposite effect is applied. Enemies inside the trail will find themselves more lethargic and sore, as if Sprache's Blut's unadulterated hatred was making them tired. The Scrabble:
Sprache's power is of the written word and a very broad power it is. Sprache is capable of using special, letter marked Ginto created by his own energy to generate a phenomenon. The range and capabilities of this power are incredibly flexible, allowing Sprache to generate any kind of occurrence that can be described with a world. Sprache can create an explosion by spelling out the word "explosion" and the word will become reality. He can strengthen a metal rod by writing the world "strong" on to the rod. In situations that the word Sprache generates is vague or not especially descriptive to the situation, Sprache is afforded considerable influence on how the word activates.
Unfortunately, or fortunately for everything else, Sprache does not have the unfettered ability to craft any word he desires, he is limited to the letters that the cruel hand of random, inescapable chance ascribes to him. Every turn that Sprache's power is active he will create seven Ginto with his Reiryoku. Each Ginto has a letter assigned to it randomly(through rolling 7d24 and using the number provided in correlation with the letter in order, an example would be 16-21-13-16-11-9-14 would equal P-U-M-P-K-I-N). Sprache is able to rearrange these letters in any combination to generate these words of power. The words themselves need to be an actual English word however, Sprache is not able to create things that are fictional or or imaginary. Sprache is able to store up to fourteen letters at a time.
While the actual phenomenon that Sprache can generate are variable, the strength of each phenomenon is directly dependent upon the word and the difficulty in creating the word. Each letter is worth a number of "points." Of course, there is still a limit to what Sprache can create. While he could very easily write the word “Star” actually creating a Supernova from nothing goes well beyond what even an 0-1 is capable of and is thus far beyond Sprache’s reach. Using the word “Star” would most likely not do more than create a paper star or a displaced Minnesota hockey team, point count depending. The points that measure the strength of the words are depicted below:
1 Point - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T and U.
2 Points - D and G.
3 Points - B, C, M and P.
4 Points - F, H, V, W and Y.
5 Points - K.
8 Points - J and X.
10 Points - Q and Z.
The power of the word is dependent upon how many points the word is worth. For instance, "Boom" would be eight points. The Strength of each point range is listed below:
2-4: Tier 4-3
5-7: Tier 3-3
8-14: Tier 2-3
15-20: Tier 1-3
21-27: Tier 0-5
28-50: Tier 0-2
51 or higher: 0-1 Blank Tile:
Sprache has the ability to create a “blank” letter that can, effectively, replace any letter of any word. For example, if Sprach had the letter G, E, O, A, P, Q and wanted to create a Goat, Sprache could use the blank tile to substitute for the letter “T” and fulfill the requirements for the Goat.
Unlike the letter tiles themselves however, the blank tiles do not have points associated with them, effectively accounting for zero points, and only drawing points from G, O, and A. Sprache gets ten blank tiles to use per thread. Double Up:
Sprache is able to infuse one of the tiles he receives with Reiryoku and when this tile is used in the creation of a word, the total strength of the word is doubled. For instance, if Sprache created the word “Staff” its base strength is typically an 11. Sprache could then apply double up to the word, making the strength of the word a 22. This requires a considerable amount of focus on the part of Sprache however and too many applications of this ability will quickly strain him to the point of weakness.
VI. Vollständig» Vollständig Name:
Cadmus» Vollständig Appearance:
Sprache’s appearance when released is not very different than his normal visage. The man will, typically, relieve himself of his shirt. His shape does not change at all, nor does he grow wings or any other iconography typically associated with an angelic being. However when the ability is activated, the man’s body will be covered in small etchings across his skin. At the outset, these look like symbols without any rhyme or reason but upon further inspection it would be revealed that they are, in fact, letters from every language known to man and, it would seem, many letters not known to man. » Vollständig Abilities:
Cadmus does not afford Sprache any new powers or abilities, but as Cadmus himself in myth was the father of written word, The Scrabble is dramatically enhanced when this ability is active and the enhancements are threefold.
First, every letter that Sprache uses while under the effects of Cadmus has its score increased by two and while under this effect, Sprache can store twenty-one letters at once. Second, typically The Scrabble is restricted to using words in English. While under the effects of Cadmus, this restriction no longer applies. Sprache is able to create words and phenomenon based on any language in existence in our world. This affords him considerably more flexibility in creating words for the Scrabble. Thirdly, normally Sprache is only able to utilize words that pertain to real things. When under the effects of Cadmus however, Sprache is not limited to the real. Cadmus allows Sprache to generate effects and phenomenon based upon fictional characters and things as well. Such as creating something that came from a book such as a legendary weapon or a fictional animal. Overall, Cadmus dramatically increases the potential applications of Sprache’s Scrabble.
