ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: 1901

So Ghislain had been asked many things in his time. Coming here because of the Vanguard. Since all the other Shinigami were busy and unsure of how to do it. Ghislain who had fought against plenty of Shikai in the war. Even stolen a bankai was the obvious choice. He was the one who would get stuck with the process of teaching the person in question. A strange thing though to ask a Quincy to teach someone else to release. But he supposed he could do it just as well. Another stop during his travels for preparing for his duel. Focus on becoming the arrow was the key here. Ghislain rubbed his wife's locket as he remembered his previous endeavors. A smile formed across his lips as he walked his frame into the training area. This was the reformed Kido Corps, a division of people who used a form of spells. It wasn't a matter of fighting or even doing such things as that. Ghislain's nature was very different from other people of his kind. He studied Zanpakutō closely to understand them and the bond with a shinigami.

To an extent thanks to the stolen bankai, he formed a relationship with. He got the gist of how it functioned in some aspects. The first thing he would need to do is see what he was looking at. Ghislain suppressed his power but even with this he did have a reputation. He did have the appearance of a strong person to those who looked. It wasn't as though Ghislain knew how exactly he would go about this. But he did know a couple things for a fact. The kid would need some form of training in some way. He wasn't an expert on teaching how to use a Zanpakutō. But he could certainly fight a Shinigami for the most part. Training had given him that much insight into performing things. Reishi now that was an energy Ghislain was very familiar with. It wasn't like Desmond's Death Matter or that sort of thing. It was something else entirely that he could absorb and manipulate. He wasn't low or weak in any way as he exhaled a soft breath from his lips. Realization on how he fought needing to evolve came from some many different places. Things never needed to be extreme or strange in some regards.

Quincy often trained differently from Shinigami. That was a given as the two didn't share the same upbringing. Everything with them was done through martial skills in those days. Practicing endlessly with equipment till you threw up in the cold. His hand trembled a bit at the memory as he smiled softly. It was almost time to begin training the man. A loyalty exercise for the Vanguard and Shinigami. It wasn't a terrible idea overall. Something of an activity set up to prepare people for what was to come. He had a plan in his mind involving this place and the alliances of the Vanguard. He wanted to suggest something to Desmond soon. But for now that would wait, as he had a job to do here and would see it fulfilled to the highest standards he held. Ghislain lowered his hood and sat waiting for the other to arrive at this location.

ASUMA NAKAHARA

A Strange Teacher 6EdIfMt

Artist: Blue Stahli - Song: Takedown (Instrumental) - Word Count:

It was a certifiable poopfest. Going on a Hollow hunt, only to be torn open and nearly killed. It certainly wasn't on one Asuma Nakahara's bucket list of things to do that day. For Christ's sake, he knew the damn things weren't to take easy, but he never imagined they'd be that strong. He barely managed to get out of there alive, when someone happened to be there to drag him away and nurse him back to health somewhere in the Human world. Speaking of which, who the hell brings some random stranger to their house, especially when that random stranger has a sword on his person? Weird.

Though Asuma's physical injuries were somewhat healed by the time he reached the Soul Society, he found himself in a hell of a crippling depression for the next two weeks thereafter. At best, he went to work and kept away from Hollow hunting, though he never really enjoyed the idea of paperwork. At worst, he couldn't even get out of bed in the morning to take a piss. Irregardless of how bad or good it was, Asuma was one hot mess. It wasn't until he stared in the mirror of a bathroom that he realized just how shitty he looked one night, and thought about something he was told while at the Academy.

"There are two main forms to a Zanpakutō: Shikai and Bankai."

Sure, Asuma knew what those were, but he didn't think that he'd actually need to attain it for his life. Up until now, all he had been doing was office work, and the hunting missions he did go on had relatively weak Hollows in them, so there wasn't that much of a desire there to get stronger. To be frank, it was rather idiotic to underestimate the damn creatures, but he couldn't help it considering what he had been going up against at the time. He had never been too much of an avid fighter either, and the only time he really trained was when somebody asked him to come with. In other words, Asuma was a lazy bastard, and he knew it, but he realized that he'd have to be less of a lazy bastard if he wanted to keep doing what he was doing.

In the ever so familiar swoosh of Hoho, Asuma found himself inching closer to his destination. Along the way, he discovered a wound on the side of his thigh. Luckily, it wasn't deep enough to really screw with his intentions this day. He was in fact going to attain the Shikai, with the help of a Quincy of all people. It was weird, to say the least that he would be enlisting the help of one to train. It was known that Shinigami and Quincy had vastly different training styles, though he hoped that they wouldn't need to rely too much on that factor to get him.....bigger in the simplest sense. The only thing he knew about his sword was that it had a function that prevented anyone else from even touching it, but what good would that do him in a fight? Hopefully, this wouldn't crash and burn, and Asuma would get something out of this session.

Finally, he reached the location where he was to hone himself, and saw but one hooded man. This was it.

He slowly lowered his hood letting it rest against his shoulders. His cerulean eyes looked at the figure of the Shinigami in question. He was in a decent place power-wise from what his eyes could ascertain. He gave the young one a slight bow as he walked over to a spot crossing his legs slowly. His eyes studied him as he spoke calmly now. "My name is Ghislain Eberhart, I am the Captain of the Boros Guard. " Introductions were important in the process of getting to know your teacher. It wasn't about anything flashy for now. Ghislain waited for him to follow suit before explaining his plan to teach him.

"Shikai, the first release of a Shinigami. It is said you must first learn your Zanpakutō's name. And how to call out to it, so we'll start with meditation. Finding your way to its name and identity. then once we get a bit further into that. You'll attack me with it and figure out how it works." His head gently gestured towards the spot to his right for him. Bringing his hand up he snapped his finger and candles around them lit. He controlled the Reishi of the candles making them light.

The snapping sound followed by their igniting was it. He didn't know where the young man was. But if he didn't have a Shikai it meant stage one.

ASUMA NAKAHARA

A Strange Teacher 6EdIfMt

Artist: Blue Stahli - Song: Takedown (Instrumental) - Word Count:

Well, there he was. A blonde-haired, blue-eyed fellow. Asuma couldn't lie: It reminded him of something he read about a guy who wanted to kill anyone and everyone who didn't have those exact traits. Nazi or not, this wasn't a man to be trifled with, at least that's what his senses could tell. Even though he was a part of the Vanguard, Asuma felt just the slightest bit wary of the man, It wasn't a good idea to go in and jump him, though it wasn't like he was going to do that.

"They call me Asuma. Asuma Nakahara. I'm literally nothing more than an average Kido Corps soldier."

A series of candles lit all around Asuma, causing him to momentarily glance around. He forgot that Quincy knew how to fuck with Reishi. It was a weird-as hell ability to him from the little he read about it. In other news, Asuma decided to take his spot right next to the man, He opted not to take his trench coat off, out of some convoluted sense of coldness. It wasn't really cold, but he felt like it for whatever reason.

The trench coat covered a good amount of the floor surrounding Asuma as he sat (American)Indian style. It was weird that he was just sitting here with the man all Indian-style, just meditating or whatever. Asuma always thought that you'd have to take a more dynamic approach to unlocking Shikai, like inciting a fight between yourself and a group of people.

Oh well. It'd have to do if he wanted to get just the tiniest bit stronger.

As soon as his eyes closed, Asuma could already feel his consciousness waning, as though he were on the edge of two worlds. Right then and there, he hoped he was truly meditating and not just making up for lost sleep the night before.

"So I'm supposed to feel like I'm falling asleep?"

Ghislain's lips curved into a smile about the man's comment on falling asleep. Just like a young man to not want to do things the best way at times. Though he guessed everyone had a way and season them. "Sometimes, but listen closely search for it..the sound of your zanpakuto." He said calmly as he looked towards the figure of Asuma now. Taking in the male's form as he sat still and Ghislain exhaled. Energy flowed around him naturally as though he was a merely a magnet that pulled it forward. He had his own plans for things and teaching him first to hear the voice inside was needed. He didn't want it to come to it but he would do something drastic if need be. But he suspected Asuma didn't understand just how connected they were to their zanpakuto. His fingers softly ran across his Regalia. Ghislain's mind was mentally always on the move to create and do more with things. His goal was coming closer but it would take time. "Think of it this way a zanpakuto spirit is your reflection before a mirror. It's calling for you and trying to reach you when you are strong enough for Shikai..Try to find that voice to hear it's cry."

He said calmly explaining the way a zanpakuto spirit worked. Ghislain really didn't want to resort to drastic measures to him. Because it would mean putting his life in jeopardy and forcing him to face death to awaken it.

ASUMA NAKAHARA

Artist: Blue Stahli - Song: Takedown (Instrumental) - Word Count:

"So just listen and you shall receive..."

Asuma's face grew impassive as he tried everything to mentally open his ears to hear exactly what his sword was trying to tell him, if anything. There was this nagging feeling in the back of his mind that longed for an easier way to do this, because he didn't intend to be sitting around for hours waiting for a voice that probably wasn't even there. Thing was, there was something about the man that just suggested that he might know what he was doing, so that was hos motivation for even staying-

Footsteps. It was as though someone were running towards Asuma even though he could only hear it in the confines of his mind. Next came the sound of metal dragging against the floor. It sounded like a. . .sword!

A shrill voice pierced Asuma's ears as it told him just how savagely murdered he would be. His face contorted into a grimace as he jumped up from his seated position and sprinted a good four strides away from where he imagined he was going to be cut down, all the while unsheathing his blade from its scabbard and holding it in a downwards position. What in the blue fuck was that?

If he didn't know any better, he'd say that the blonde man named Ghislain was attempting to kill him, but he happened to be in the same spot as before. That nagging feeling in the back of Asuma's mind became an anticipation of sorts, that if this happened to be his sword speaking to him in that manner, then he would be in for a long day, to say the least.
