Berthold Björn

Berthold had a long boring Friday, and now it was Saturday, the one day of the week that time seems to just slow down, and then near the end of the day speed up and it's Sunday. You then await school all day on Sunday, bored out of your skull. Berthold awoke that morning with his notebook open and draped over his abs. He picked it up and closed it, setting it down on the floor. After a shower, fixing his hair, and putting on some fresh clothes, Berthold picked up his notebook and a light book to read. He folded them in his arms like a baby and walked outside. He needed a break or distraction from this god forsaken Saturday.

When he walked outside, the first thing he did was looking up at the sky, which he normally does. He noted the sky was clear and the sun was shining, no chance of rain or storm, this was good. He began walking down a street, around him he heard children laughing and playing on such a fine day, he did not look up at them once; he glued his eyes on his notebook, which he opened on arriving at the street. Around him, the children stopped laughing; the street itself seemed to hold its breath when they finally noticed Berthold. "How can he wear something like that on a warm day like today?" He heard a little boy say. "I don't know... but he sure looks handsome~" Said a girls voice in the distance. Berthold was used to these kind of commentaries, good and bad. He remained glued to the notebook.

Once he had gotten to the end of the street, he turned and headed towards the park. He loathed it because of how crowded it was, but he knew a peaceful place in there were not too many people went, and he liked it there. After half an hour of wading through crowds, and being pushed around by others who didn't see him, he found himself in a much easier to get around area. There were about 10 or 15 people around, and they were spaced well enough apart to get around them. Berthold walked around these people and made his way to his favourite spot in the park - the lake.

Upon arriving at the lake, Berthold looked around and was pleased at how seldom people come here. Nobody was near him, he was so far away now he could not even hear the distant screaming children, or adults conversing while their children went on rides or horsed around. He smirked to himself, but let it fade before anyone could possibly notice. The trees around him shivered and swayed, the leaves gently rustled in the slight breeze. The water gently played its music as Berthold looked over, watching the sun dance on the water surface. Berthold's dark grey eyes slid away from the water and looked at his right arm; he picked up his book and opened it where his bookmark was. He began reading on a patch of grass, his legs crossed over each other; he was alone, and it was clear to the world that it did not bother him. For some strange reason however, Berthold always had some sort of magnetic ability to attract others, even if he made it apparent he wanted to be alone.

Berthold Björn

Berthold continued reading, occaisionally he would look up, stare at the water briefly, and look back down. Every now and then he would hear odd noises coming from the forest, but he did not give whatever it was the satisfaction of looking up, he read his book and shut out the world. In the back of his mind he wondered what the noise was, but tried to shake off the thought.

The wind caressed his black and pink hair, blowing his bangs over his eyes, making him look even more mysterious than usual. In the distance, he now heard footsteps, he was tempted to look back, but remained where he was, but kept his ears wide open and his body ready for attack. Come on, sammench... he thought to himself as he heard the figure approaching. Who was it, and why were they here?

Hikari Hiraku

(Minus the Cat ears)

_________

Monday turned into Tuesday, Tuesday turned into Wednsday...and before she knew it, it was Saturday. What a week, she spent most of it training, perfecting her snow abilities. She was human, yes but she had special powers...powers that other humans...ordinary humans wouldnt understand. She deised that it would be a good idea to take a break and visit the the town..maybe even take a strole through the park or something. All week she had been training high up in the mountains, people hardly ever went up to the mountains.
On her way down she began to feel the lively energy of all the people buzzing around the town and parks, she smiled, she loved feeling that energy. She was wearing a deep pinkish-red Kimono (exactly like the one in the picture), and she let her hair down, allowing the breeze to blow through it. Hikari eventually made her way into the park, she smiled as she saw kids laughing happily as they played tag and tugged on their parents sleeves to play with them, she smiled at the people that took the time to just take a walk though a park and enjoy each others company.
She got many stares, mainly because she was wearing a kimono for a walk in the park...
Eventually her walks took her though a forest, as she walked she senced anothers presnece, she looked onwards and saw a strange looking man sitting reading some book. Hikari made her way over to him, she noticed that he had looked over in her direction, as if waiting for something to appear, she had guessed that she was just a a dark figure to him. As she came out into the light, she smiled softly and made her way over.
Hikari bowed her head politly and gave a warm smile.
"Hello"
She said, she was in a friend-making mood today. She hadnt seen Wolffrith in a while, he was probably off training too (Wulffrith is her boyfriend).
"You'r all alone, most people come to the park with someone."
She smiled, she wasnt tying to be rude or anthing, she was just curious as to why he was here all alone. Her gaze fell onto the book he had in his hand.
"What are you reading?"
She asked.

Berthold Björn

He could have sworn he felt the presence of a male approaching him, but was surprised when he heard a female talking to him. She had a nice voice. A friendly voice, he decided to do something he normally does not do for anyone, he turned around to look at her, his hair blew around like he was in a movie. Berthold looked at the female, she must have gotten odd looks too, wearing a kimono in a place like this, it did not seem to bother her. Berthold liked that about her. He hesitated for a moment, sort of tongue tied at first, he rarely speaks to anyone. He uncurled his legs and stood up with his back straight, looking in her eyes. "Guten Tag" he said politely with a small bow of his head.

"I am usually alone" he said mysteriously, with no trace of a smirk on his face at all, he never was quite good at body language. He looked down at his notebook in his elbow and then up at her. She then asked him what he was reading. This time, it was clear he was surprised, his eyebrows raise ever so slightly and his eyes opened up a bit more. No one ever asked him what he was reading. Sure they attempted conversation... but they always ignored his true love, books. "I..." He started off before lifting his book and showing her the cover. "It is called Deutschbuch, by Maxim Biller. It's my mothers book I... borrowed it." He said as he looked a little guiltily at the book, then back at the girl, a faint hint of a smile was on his face, but was barely recognisable. "You like books?" Berthold said as he passed her the book, it looked brand new, but was really infact two years old. Thus proving his love for books, he kept good care of them.

Hikari Hiraku

The wind blew a bit, making her hair dance around her a bit before settling back down. Hikari noticed how this guy responed, she noted his facial expressions too. From first impressions, Hikari would guess that he was probably a bit of a social outcast, a loner if you would. He was hesitant when he spoke, and it almost seemed like he didnt know how to respond to her presance. Hikari didnt mind though, she liked making friends with all kinds of people. He showed her the book and told her that it was his mothers, she looked odwn at the book when she revealed the cover to her; she searched though her memory to see if she had ever read it or heard of it. Nothing, she hadnt, Hikari shook her head alittle bit, a soft smile lingered on her face for quite some time, it wasnt a fake smile, it was a genuine friendly one.
"Mmh, I dont think I've ever heard or read this one." She stated looking back up at him as he asked her if she liked books, she giggeld a little and nodded before answering:
"Yes...well it depends, the only books that really interest me are that of the supernatural, healing and elements...stuff like that" She said, her interest for these kind of books has a lot to do with the fact she has powers and is very much aware of the world beyond the living.
"Whats the book about?"
She asked, she had to admit, it looked kind of interesting, before she gave him a change to tell her anything, something clicked! Inroductions havent even been done yet!
"Oh! I'm sorry, my name is Hikari Hiraku."
She bowed her head slightly before raisitng back up, again her comforting smile plasterd onto her face.

Berthold Björn
Spoiler:

Berthold returned the book slowly back to his right arm where his notebook was being cradeled. He looked up again at the girl and nodded, he was glad she liked books. "Supernatural..." He said slowly, he appeared to be considering the concept throughly; he was. "I like that those too, yes. There are not too many genres I do not like," he said before she asked him about the book he had.

Before he answered, she spoke once more, her face lit up as she did so. She seemed to have suddenly just remembered something, and he found out what. Hikari Hiraku, it was an interesting name, and had a pleasant and unique taste on the tongue. "Hikari Hiraku... Lovely." He said and copied her bow, the corner of his mouth twitched, his lame attempt at smiling like her. "I am Berthold, Berthold Björn" Berthold said with some unintentional importance in the tone before his right arm shot out and his hand extended towards her. He hoped girls shook hands and not always bowed like that, though then again, when was Berthold known for being normal and doing what others do? He laughed at himself in his head.

He looked above him briefly, the trees whispered to him and distracted him. He remained with his arm outstretched and stared up at the tree, his hair blew about slightly in the gentle breeze. The trees continued to whisper, they were whispering advice to him. He grinned inside. Slowly, the outstretched arm moved and reached up, grabbing a small red apple on the tree. He wiped it on his jacket, making it shiny and cleaner. Calmly, he did something he had never done before, he oustretched his hand, this time, with the apple in his hand. "Apfel?" Berthold asked her politely, the apple sat perfectly balanced on his open palm, awaiting someone to take it.

This boy was strange, she could tell that, but he was a good strange...not one of those really creepy, uncomfortable strange. Hikari was always a friendly person and this encounter proved just that. He spoke a bit and told her his name, she tried to imitate it in her mind. She tilted her head slightly, it sounded foren to her, German! that was it, he was probably German.
The next thing she knew, he was holding out an apple to her. She blinked a few times and looked at the apple then to him then to the apple before accepting it with a smile.
"Thank you"
She said sweetly as she took the apple from his hand.

Hikari then went and took a seat to where he was sitting before.
"Your German, I'm guessing?" She asked and took a slight pause.
"How much can you speak of it?"
She questioned him again, this was turning into a game of 5 million questions, but she was curious, she'd never met anyone that was German before. She looked up at him with bright, friendly, sparking...curious eyes as she awaited a responce.

Berthold Björn
Spoiler:

He watched her take the apple with pride, smiling widely on the inside, he attempted to stretch his face muscles to match his emotion. The corner of his mouth twitched again, what a fail. It was like his face would simply deny emotions. "You are most weclome miss Hikari." He said politely with a bow like hers earlier. He dropped his hand and let it rest by his side once more, his other still cradelling the books. She asked him if he was German, Berthold almost laughed, but out of respect ansd not to hurt her feelings, he remained silent (shock). He mustered up the only response he could, "Ja" with a nod to confirm it. "How much do I speak it? Well, it is my first language, I was born and raised a German." He almost went further on, stating his move. He didn't it was too hard. No emotion. Show no emotion. He trained himself against emotion in front of others. Hikari's eyes sparkeled with curiosity, he loved that sensation the curiosity in her eyes gave him. He liked answering her questions, it was almost like a game to him.

Hikari tilted her head, just now, he seemed a little strange, well...yeah, almost as if she had said something that he found either ridiculous, funny...or stupid...whatever the case may be, she shrugged it off and listened to what he had to say. As far as first impressions go, he was definatly a man of few words, but she didnt mind. Hikari smiled and nodded.
"Wow, I've actually never met anyone from germany befor....Whats it like there?"
She questioned again, she was obviously intereested in hearing tales from a distant land.
Well, by the end of this conversation, she might have him talking a little more than he did when he woke up this morning, she giggled at that tought a bit.
"Oh! Lets here ya say some sentances in German!"
She exclaimed with much enthusiasm...
