Danava Demon Profile
I. Basic Information» Name:
Ayame Kujou (九条 妖銘; Kujou Ayame
Ayame Kujou (九条 斐海; Kujou Ayame
The Broken Vessel; Ninth Heir to the Kujou; Shi no Youki (死の容器)» Age:
Kujou Family (formerly)» True Appearance:
I. Personality» Personality:
Ayame was someone with some very independant traits. She was a bit of a troublemaker and didn't want much to do with her family. Unfortunately, Ayame is no longer that same person. That person is, very specifically, destroyed. Ayame, now, is stuck trying to find herself. The broken Origin that inhabits her body instead of her soul molded itself to her form. She isn't an edgelord bent on death. Ayame is someone who has no real desires at the moment. She has no dreams of a future as she has no past. She understands most societal conventions. She speaks with issues only normal people have. To the outside eye, she's absurdly normal.
Ayame doesn't have any food or color she particularly likes or dislikes. She's neutral about so much that it is, frankly, creepy. This may have to do with the fact that death is neutral and is not a "good" or "bad" force. It just exists. It is what it is. The way the Origin molded itself still allowed for some "human" traits to exist. Awe, fear, excitement, anguish, etc. all still exist within her and are capable of being expressed. The hard part is getting her to express it right. Awe and shock are the only two that she has been able to express correctly most of the time. However, she's more densensitized than most so it takes a lot to do either of those things.
Ayame isn't so neutral as to let someone fall off a ladder in front of her. Even though there is a hefty tugging holding her back in cases of life and death, her natural instincts kick in usually. One of the most odd things about Ayame is how she reacts when there is nothing she can do in a life or death situation. Even if there is a massive pile up on a highway and hundreds are dead, Ayame shows no true reaction to the death. The destruction of machine and infrastructure she might find interesting, but death itself does not bring her any particular emotion. If anything, she is the most neutral to it. » Likes:
Nothing. Although, tofu does not agree with her.
I. History» History:
Ayame's history starts back a few thousand years ago. The Kujou family was a last, desperate attempt to deal with the rampant population destruction caused by the Danava of Death. This particular Danava had been slain multiple times, but it would reappear suprisingly quickly. A clan of spiritually-aware humans decided to put an end to it. They said for nine generations, they would attempt to finally rid the world of that particular demon. However for each generation they did not succeed, the next would become more inhumane in their attempts. It started off simple. They tried normal methods of destruction.. It kept coming back. They tried abnormal ways. It didn't work.
Ayame's father, Gotou, was the Eighth Head of the Kujou. Gotou Kujou knew he had to be truly inhumane, as he loved his daughter too much to let her fall into the same depravity he had done over his many years of life. He had read all of the attempts made to get rid of the demon. He did unthinkable experiments on humans to try to see how the spirit reacted to them. Gotou was not the first to try to seal the Danava away. It just never worked as a permenant solution. They would slay the demon and try to hold its Origin on the mortal plane. It broke free of its restraints within years. And yet, Gotou felt this was the only way to deal with their problem.
Gotou experimented on something his ancestors would be disgusted at—sealing it within someone. He tried so many different ways, and none worked. It was like trying to pour water into a full container. Gotou then tried forcing it into a corpse, but that worked only briefly. During a period where he would go days without sleep, he had a horrible thought. Gotou proceeded to learn how to destroy a soul without killing the body. It was like putting them into a coma from which they would never wake up. And it was the best success he had. However, the bodies themselves were not adapted to the rapid intake of energy. They would sometimes literally explode. For this to work, he needed a body which already had powers.
Gotou used his daughter as the catalyst for his twisted solution. Once again, the Kujou family slew the Danava of Death. As it was breaking down, Gotou destroyed his daughter's soul. He wept while he effectively killed her. Gotou bound the Origin into his daughter's body. And this is where Ayame's history would truly begin. Ayame's body lurched around as the Origin, shattered and broken from its bout with the Kujou, tried to break out of its vessel. It took two days before her body returned to a normal shape.
Ayame awoke months after the sealing. The moment her eyes opened, the Origin fully merged with its vessel. The consciousness of her brain and the Danava warped into one being. She was effectively recently upturned soil and the Danava was a plant trying to root itself. It took time before the conditions were just right for the two to connect and form an ecosystem. When Ayame awoke, there was a burst of Death from her. The entire Kujou family died in an instant. The repeat of this ability is impossible, as it was only created from the awakening of the Origin. A large-scale death event happened every time the Danava of Death was reborn into the world. This time, the only deaths were those that tried to slay it themselves.
And so, Ayame left. She had no idea what she was doing. She had no idea where to go. What she did know was that the place she was at would smell eventually. Ayame encountered no animals on her trek to modern society. She was high in a mountain range somewhere. She picked a direction and traveled. The walk was arduous, but any threat that she came across, Ayame knew how to deal with it. Well, deal with meaning "killing." Ayame had "flashes," so to speak, of a black mass showing her what to do. When she came across something spiritual for the first time (she didn't know or care enough to determine what race it was), it even showed her how to use an ability. As she already had knowledge of the feeling of drawing power from oneself to exert it upon the world, it came out easily. Ayame was quickly becoming a killing machine, even if she didn't know it.
I. Natural Abilities» Natural Abilities:
learn how to utilize traditional Demon abilities. However, she currently does not know how to use any of them except for Akuma Kyodo. Whether this is an influence of her Eternal Partner, her body's former abilities, or just a stroke of luck remains to be seen. Ayame's Akuma Kyodo is different from most in that it is double-layered. This means that she has two layers of lower level Akuma Kyodo that end up equaling a higher level (read: what level she has in her skill sheet). » Skills:
- Martial Arts: Ayame was taught from a young age how to fight and defend herself, especially against the rapidly-changing attacks of a demon. While she may not belong to a specific school or style, Ayame does know how to fight with her hands to the point that it is her preferred method of combat. As her somewhat-broken memories still exist within her brain, Ayame has retained her capabilities from before the sealing. More than that, her body has been freed of the influence of a true humanity so she doesn't see a need to show mercy or hold back—even while training herself. Despite her small frame, her punches are more forceful than most would think.
- Naturally Focused: Ayame, due to her personality (or lack thereof), is hard to catch off-guard. She's focused and doesn't tolerate distractions.
I. Origin Powers» Origin Name:
Shiu (死有; Instant of Death)» Origin Power:
As stated above, Ayame's Origin is Death. Thus, a lot of her abilities are about negating life in one way or another. As of this moment, however, Ayame is vastly untrained in her abilities, only having a few that she can use. These are more aptly described below.» Origin Abilities:
- Lifelessness: Ayame, even when not channeling her Origin, has an innate incapability of sustaining life. She is incapable of growing any plants, for example. They all seem to wither away more often than not. Animals also seem to perish around her, although in most cases it is because they are too focused on the off-putting feeling they give to pay attention to other threats. This also means that Ayame cannot sustain life within her—meaning she is incapable of reproducing sexually, or at the very least, incapable of carrying a child. More importantly, this means that if something was to invade her—such as a parasite or a rogue Ziamichi spirit, it would be forced to leave her body or start dying. Life simply cannot exist within her.
- Black Thumb: Once every other post, Ayame can kill any vegetation within nine feet of her. It spreads out from her body like a bubble, quickly decaying the plants until they turn into brittle facades. On spiritual plants (including those created by spiritual powers), this takes one post for it to fully decay as they do not act entirely like a normal, living plant. Plants can start to grow in the same area three posts later, as the residual "death" prevent them from forming. If someone is somehow within a plant or merged with it, it simply kicks them out of the plant unharmed.
- Death Sense: When someone dies within a mile of Ayame, she gets a small pressure in her head. This pressure points in the direction of the death. The closer she is to the death, the stronger the pressure. If Ayame sits down and focuses, she can also detect any corpse (no matter how decayed so long as there is something larger than a cubic inch left) within 100 yards of her position.
I. Eternal Partner/Conceptual World» Conceptual World:
What does something influenced by "death" look like? It's not as complex as one might think. Ayame's Conceptual World isn't desolate. It is, however, absolutely ruined. Buildings stand with chunks missing. Cars hang midair, crumpled mid-flip. Dead trees loom as they're about to fall. The list goes on. Everything that's in there is a moment in which death was about to occcur. The buildings could have been damaged in war or natural disasters. The cars could have swerved to avoid a deer and rolled into a ravine. The trees could have simply fallen the opposite way the logger intended. The fact is, these are all forms of death that she has imagined or her Eternal Partner has seen firsthand. No bodies litter the ground, nor are there any other signs of life other than the moments themselves. » Rilīja Attributes:
As Ayame's Eternal Partner is weakened and she herself has no knowledge on how most of her newer abilities work, she does not have any Rilīja Attributes yet.» Eternal Partner Name:
Unknown. Ayame just refers to him as "You."» Eternal Partner Appearance:
As he is merely a shadow of his former self, still trying to regain power, the former holder of the Origin is nothing more than a black mass. He behaves like a sentient gas but looks more like a splotch of ink in three dimensions. He has a mouth and a single crimson eye. Both of these seem to be able to move freely around the mass that is its "body." » Eternal Partner Personality:
Ayame's Eternal Partner is a smug son of a bitch. He thinks that he is absolutely fantastic
. Death, to him, is a goddamn parade. Massacres and tragedies he celebrates like a harvest. It's music to his ears to hear the sweet screams of people burning alive. The bastard is sick, but only because it is the only way he can find joy. As the former holder of the Origin which Ayame now holds, he knows more about what she could potentially do than Ayame ever could imagine. He tries to twist her around his finger, but it just doesn't work like he intends it to. She doesn't have any sort of enthusiasm yet, so he can't manipulate her like he'd want to.» Eternal Partner Powers:
In its weakened state, Ayame's Eternal Partner has no real abilities of its own. It does, however, have the knowledge on how to use the ones she has.
I. Atma VatouAyame has not formed any Atma Vatou as of this moment
I. Saca Ātmā» Saca Ātmā Appearance:
Truth be told, it is hard to call Ayame's release a true Saca Ātmā. She has no good control over her own self, so the traditional route of releases is, at least for now, locked away from her. A good example is that it is like Shigekuni Yamamoto's Ryuujin Jakka. Ryuujin Jakka was usually hidden in the form of a walking stick but would burst from that illusion at a moment's notice. That is how Ayame's Saca Ātmā works. She is normally unable to access the abilities, but it is a constant-release type. When she decides to break the facade, the air around her body seems to distort and becomes monochrome. Soon after, she appears in quite different clothing. » Saca Ātmā Powers:
When she dispells the cloak, Ayame is able to utilize her Saca Ātmā's abilities. All of her abilities come from the gloves and strikeplate on the back of her hand. If she strikes something living (cannot be a random NPC off of the street) she gainst a stack of Satsuriku (殺戮; lit. Slaughter). She can only gain one
stack per round. A stack does not do much on its own, only increasing her striking power by 1%. At five stacks and every five thereafter, Ayame can stack an additional time per round. This means if the thread goes on for 16 rounds, she would be able to apply 10 stacks per strike if she lands a strike every round. At ten stacks, Ayame unlocks Gyakusatsu (虐殺; lit. Massacre). Gyakusatsu is effectively an "overdrive" form. It is most effective in areas of death—hospitals, funeral homes, graveyards, etc.
Gyakusatsu lasts for one post per five stacks gained, meaning she can only use it for two rounds the moment it is unlocked. While in Gyakusatsu, Ayame can no longer gain stacks of Satsuriku. Gyakusatsu increases Ayame's killing potential by double every round, starting at a base increase of 25%. This means she would need 15 stacks of Satsuriku to reach 100% for example. Currently, the limit on her Gyakusatsu is 500%, but this can be increased through further exposure with Gyakusatsu.
Gyakusatsu works by making her blows more lethal. This does not increase her strength or speed. No, it infuses her body with "intent to cause death." This means that her strikes aim for areas that would cause lethal damage. Her mind becomes more attuned to what will cause a killing blow. Each increase makes her more accurate and allows her more insight into anatomy. At near 1000%, Ayame would become capable of killing an average, unpowered human with a single strike. Note that 1000% requires 10 rounds worth of Gyakusatsu—or 50 stacks (16 rounds of a strike landing). The more times Ayame reaches close to her limit, the closer she gets to increasing that limit by up to 250% (in increments of 50%). If she goes over the limit, Ayame's body cannot handle the excess "intent" and begins to fight itself. For every round she spends above 500%, Ayame's body begins attacking and killing itself. In two rounds above 500%, Ayame's body would completely destroy itself.
