Leona Rossi

Song: Coasting - Artist: N/A - Words:571

"...Despite your recent troubles, things will soon be looking up for you my dear. With what I can see, you have nowhere to go but up from here."

The readheaded lady behind the table said this with a light smile after flipping over what was the final card in her tarot divination. The man on the other side of the table looked fairly thrilled to hear this news despite it just being from a tarot reading. Divination was considered taboo to some, but to others it could be a nice little way to prepare oneself for the future. That is, if you believed in what a bunch of random cards said about your future.

At least, they would be random if it wasn't for who was dealing the cards.

Leona, or "Lady Red" as she went by during her tarot readings, had some special affiliations with the very force of Fate itself. She was known throughout a small portion of Karakura's downtown area as "the lady who was never wrong". Whatever she read through her cards came true unless she specifically stated that her read outcome could be changed by the person she was giving a reading to. The type of question that was asked usually determined the way the cards would be laid out. From there, each position was a part of the person, and the card laid in it would describe that part of that person.

At the moment, Leona was receiving her small payment for her previous reading. After becoming fairly popular in the smaller parts of downtown Karakura, the readhead had found a way to start monetizing her "talents" in order to pay her bills and to be able to afford food. It wasn't the best, but it got her by. It really helped that she had some sort of popularity, though at times it did become somewhat annoying. Like right now, for example. Leona was simply eating in a restaurant and, once she had finished her meal and prepared to pay, was asked to give a reading. The main reason she did it was to help pay for the bill, despite her already having enough money for it as it was.

Right now the "soothsayer" was sitting patiently, waiting for the waitress to come back to receive the yen for the bill. That was something she hadn't been called in a while. It simply came to mind as she sat idly, hoping that nobody else would come to ask for a reading. There was so much more that she could do, and while she didn't mind doing anymore readings, she had already given about a dozen within the past hour. When you charge ¥1000 (roughly 10 USD), it's easy to pay for your meals and other living expenses. It wasn't luxurious most of the time, but that wasn't all that bad.

A sigh escaped Leona's lips as she started idly shuffling her deck of cards. She had heard people whispering about her as they came into the restaurant moments earlier, though she was lucky enough that they didn't come to ask her for anything. It wouldn't surprise her if someone came in just as she was about to leave and bug her about telling them how their future would go, or if their love lives would go well. It confused Leona why so many people were surprised to find out how many of those kinds of readings she was asked to do.

Some Divination n' Shit [PUNCHOUT] Kiyah_11

The male had heard about it, rumors that a person was able to see into people’s future or rather just the ole’ generic fashion of story telling. It wasn’t something Kiyah was incredibly curious about, but he couldn’t for the life of him decide on a reason not to go. This was going to be another casual day out in which his summons wouldn’t be around, and his spirit was seemingly not speaking just yet.

“I guess if nothing else, it’s something to do right?”

There wasn’t much else to do if not give himself some entertainment. He had on his white Nike hoodie with jeans and blue tennis shoes, he didn’t expect to get into any kind of physical confrontations today so he didn’t see a reason to be combat ready. At the same time knowing the disgusting presence that demons have in the world nowadays still had him very much on guard…even if this place was seen as a safe ground when it came to the likes of all things evil.

He had word that she was in a restaurant that wasn’t too far, so he’d head there to try and catch her before she ended up leaving again. Before he could speak he had heard a very familiar voice in his head-

Some Divination n' Shit [PUNCHOUT] Hikari12

“I ‘ve never trusted fortune tellers, Kiyah.”

Hikari spoke and puffed her cheeks, shrugging her shoulders.

“They’re just rude, irritating people who like to assume they have life all figured out because they feel as if the universe has blessed them with a gift they don’t have. They’re worse than psychology majors.”

Kiyah chuckled, shaking his head as he looked around the restaurant, poking his head inside.

“Don’t be mean, Hikari.”

After a few glances around he was able to spot Leona, so he promptly walked up to her and waved. Kiyah was notably short, so he might find himself looking up towards the red head.

“Hey, excuse me. You’re the fortune teller lady everyone talks about, right? Do you think you can tell me mine? “

He already reached for his wallet.

“I can afford it if you name your price, or if you’re still hungry we can do it over cheesecake or something. I dunno, whatever works for you. Name’s Kiyah Nobachi, by the way.”

Hikari on the other hand is mentally sighing as she is not fond of the female before them whom she finds very, very pretentious.

"Winners win, losers lose. I can't explain it any better than that.I don't know how it happens, but winners win.And if you create a culture of losing, if you keep being a victim,if you keep letting losing happen to you. If you keep letting people do you and treat you any kind of way it's gonna become a culture."
