KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI

"Captain Kagayaku." She'd heard someone call her "Captain no Kagayaku," but that just kind of gave her a chuckle. She didn't blame anyone, her name was super archaic, and she never really got why mom did it that way, but that was besides the point. It wasn't something Murasaki had ever thought she'd really hear about herself, not back in the day when she couldn't go an hour without hearing some sneering call of "hanpakuto" thrown her way. She had to admit, she'd thought about finding all those people who had made fun of her back in the academy and rubbing it in their face where she was now. The thought of them all defeated like that, it brought a little smile to her face, but that wasn't the sort of behavior a Captain should be presenting.

But really... Captain. The haori was really comforting to the former nomad, not out of any softness of material, but simply as a sign that she'd really done something. Of course, Murasaki knew perfectly well that she couldn't just sit back on her laurels now that she'd gotten here. She'd already come up with a fairly long list of people she'd need to talk to down on Earth, but for now she was taking a little time to prepare.

"Preparation," of course, entailed a nice cup of tea as she sat atop a roof, watching the sky idly and dangling her legs over the side. If there was one thing she wasn't too big on up here, it was how...crowded it always was. If she had to put how it made her feel into a single word, it'd just be “yuck.” There wasn't anything wrong with civilization, obviously, it was kinda important, but Murasaki wouldn't really complain if they decided to replace the whole Seireitei with some big yurts. It'd probably be a lot comfier, even if she knew it'd also just be a worse idea than what they had. Oh well, she was just distracting herself, and not with anything useful, either. She had a lot of stuff to do, and as much as she liked to just think about the steppe, she'd rather make sure she had her priorities in order...

Alright! First things first! Um... Probably trying to find a Vice Captain, to be honest. Much as she wanted to jump right into some more pressing duties, the last thing she wanted was to just be wandering around on Earth for goodness knew how long without someone back in the office to keep track of things. Now who would be good for that, was the question... Well, better to come up with the rest of the list first! Second... Probably trying to get the facilities up and running. Pretty the office up, make sure potential new members weren't just walking into a bunch of empty rooms. She had to admit that, if she walked right on into a big office with nothing but a desk, she probably wouldn't want to work there.

“Uuuugh.” Murasaki finished off her cup of tea, then fell onto her back and stared upward. “What to do, what to do...” She couldn't afford to rest forever, she knew that. But a little bit longer might have been alright...

First Division Vice Captain - Fantasia Nevermore

Fantasia generally wasn't the most well-liked of Shinigami in the Soul Society. There were a multitude of facets about her that slowly began to reveal themselves to the rest of the organization once she had been established as the Vice Captain of the First Division. And it was more than just her lack of history with the Gotei that rubbed people the wrong way. She only managed to secure the position through insistence, and display of strength—something valued by a Kenpachi more than any other. Yet that seemed to be where Fantasia's values ceased. She could easily be considered a failure in any other category, earning the ire of those who wished to be in her place, or simply found her wanting.

The girl had also garnered a rather bad reputation, thanks to rumors passed around by those who dealt with her. She had an abrasive personality, a stubborn thickheadedness that made it difficult to even converse with her. Often time she may have appeared as a nice young girl with promising potential, but it didn't take long for her to show her true colors. That much authority given to somebody with such a narrow field of view was a bad combination—her position was often challenged and complained about—but at least she did her job dutifully. Was there somebody better fit for the role? Probably. But for now, Fantasia was the one chosen for the spot. And fighting her for it was... well...

Anyways, Fantasia was oblivious to the toxic gazes set upon her as she patrolled the Seireitei, headed towards one of the new wings of the Gotei's barracks. The 7th division? A new branch of the Gotei United, their buildings only recently completed construction. And their jurisdiction seemed to be with worldly relations... That had Fantasia's lips pursed up in perturbation, wondering why a group such as them would need such a tacked-on division like this. Yet, perhaps such gripes were better off saved for later. She just couldn't help how the discontent colored her stern walk or her stiff gaze. Her cape gently drifted behind her as she powered forward towards the entrance of the building, barely paying attention to her surroundings. She never had been good at sensing spiritual energies; not even allowing her to determine whether or not the Captain was already here.

There wasn't much knocking for someone like Fantasia, simply barging in through the front unannounced. She had the authority to do so and she often exercised it—even the Vice Captain of the First was something on the level of any other division's Captain. Still, she expected to find somebody inside when really there wasn't a soul as far as she could see. It was barren. Not even decorated. It was like the inside of a house that had just only been moved into. Well, her duty came forth whether or not she had the supervision of the barracks' Captain. Under the premise of an inspection, Fantasia began to snoop around the building...

MURASAKI KAGAYAKU

Hmmm? Well, that was pretty strange, wasn't it? Murasaki had hardly been expecting any guests, and she definitely hadn't invited anyone to this quiet little section of the Seireitei. She considered hurrying down as quickly as possible, tossing her tea to the side and rushing down there in a literal flash. But...this was pretty good tea, she was definitely proud of how it turned out. It'd be lame to let it go to waste, so instead she took her time with it, sipping the brew with a definite calmness before hopping off the roof, stretching out, and walking into her office.

Admittedly, Murasaki had briefly considered kicking the door open, or doing some sort of ninja roll into the room and throwing a pebble at whoever it was in there, but she was all too aware that doing anything like that would not give a great impression of her as a Captain. Despite how much fun she thought that might have been, Murasaki simply patted her hair down, adjusted her outfit to make sure it looked presentable and professional, and greeted whoever it was that had apparently come to visit.

“Hey there. Captain Kagayaku no Murasaki, Seventh Division. Whatcha need from me?”

Ah, geez. Well, first impression was probably shot, at least relatively. Whatcha need from me? That was pretty far from being professional, and all Murasaki could do was hope this visitor wasn't anyone so hugely important that this blunder would give her a fairly bad impression with the rest of the Gotei. Still, better to salvage the whole thing than just stand there and look like a moron.

“Oh, right, you're a guest, it'd only be right for me to get you some tea. It's my own blend, came up with it out on the plains.”

Whether or not this new visitor actually wanted a cup, Murasaki was certainly going to start a pot of tea for herself. She was going to need it to calm down after all this. She was making herself look like a total doofus in front of this girl, who for all she knew was someone really important – oh, man, she hadn't even asked who this actually was! Man, she knew she'd been forgetting something, but not anything that important? Sheepishly turning back, though she kept an entirely calm smile on her face, she figured the best thing to do was just ask.

“I'm super sorry about not asking first, too, but could I get your name?”

First Division Vice Captain - Fantasia Nevermore

She would not pick up on the newcomer by spiritual signature, no, since that was like trying to look through foggy glasses. But at the very least there would be no mistaking it when Fantasia heard the footsteps made by a pair of boots intruding on her due diligence. She had been caught in the midst of rifling through the drawers of the Captain's desk, by authority she believed she had. Still, that did not make her bashful when she was found out; Fantasia would only narrow her eyes as the green-haired vixen strolled in. If she believed that her informal speech would put Nevermore off, well... she was right. It earned a questioning 'hmmmmmmm' from the young lady.

When asked for an introduction, Fantasia would close her eyes and shake her head as if in disappointment. She felt that she should be recognized upon sight, considering her position. If she was not known to someone, then introduce herself she would. Her body straightened up and she tugged at her uniform to ensure all was straightened out. Its metallic appendices jingled lightly with the movement. "You should know us as Fantasia Nevermore, Vice Captain of the First Division. Ensurance of the Gotei United's service and vigilance. Second-in-Command of the primary combat division. We greet you, Captain Kagayaku."

She closed the drawer she'd been searching through with her knee, and promptly strode around from behind the desk with a rigid posture, hands behind her back. She stopped within arm's reach of the woman, staring slightly upwards at her with an unblinking gaze, like she was some kind of robot. After an uncomfortable amount of time, she finally said something in her strange dialect. "Yes... We enjoy tea. If you could..."

A nod, before she broke off and went to go take her seat at a proper table to wait for Murasaki to return. Actually, though she was embarrassed to admit it, the mere mention of tea reminded her of a past long gone, when her family used to prepare it for her. Its warmth and flavor was not something she'd forget, despite just how long it was since she enjoyed such a treat. This would do well to make ends meet between the two. Fantasia would be strict and judgmental otherwise. So... she simply sat and looked down at her hands in wait. She seemed distracted by thoughts all of a sudden.

THE BLADE MAIDEN

KAGAYAKU NO MURASAKI

Typically, Murasaki might have minded some stranger digging through her things without asking. Well, maybe not normally. She didn't actually have many things she really cared if people saw. But! If they were digging around in her private little collection of memories, hoo boy would they get it..! Of course, that wasn't what Miss Nevermore would have found in the desk. In fact, said desk was completely empty, for the recently-appointed Captain hardly had any paperwork she needed to actually put in there, and she certainly didn't keep her personal belongings in her desk. What kind of weirdo would do that?

Now wait wait wait... Vice-Captain for First Division? Ugh, well, alright then, definitely not exactly someone she wanted to look dumb in front of. Still, if this lady had come to meet with her, then obviously something was worth talking about. Murasaki was rather glad she'd already had a pot of tea steeping, otherwise she'd have looked even dumber for offering something she didn't even have. But, no way, she was at least better than that. As she poured out a cup of tea for Miss Nevermore, and one for herself too, she considered what to start the conversation with. Ah well, she'd figure something out.

“So, uh, what brings you here, Miss Nevermore? I know it's definitely not anything I've been doing, haven't exactly had the time for that.”

Murasaki let out a quite girlish giggle at that, handing a cup of tea to Miss Nevermore as she herself took a seat. She could've tried to look as absolutely proper and professional as possible from here on, but what would that have really even done? It'd just make her look fake, since it wasn't like she could just go “oh, no that was just me after a nap, I'm normally super serious, really” or anything like that. Best to just be herself. That was what had gotten her this far, and she wouldn't stop now.
