ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: 1901

It had been a while since Ghislain had visited this place. For all the memories and times spent here. This place brought back so many memories of his times as a child. Hunting and training with his mentor among other things. Ghislain had spent and taken his time for each moment was worth it. He exhaled a soft breath as he knelt down by the graves of his children. Perhaps it was best to say this was where Elizabeth wanted to be buried. But it was fair enough for her and her children to be put here. It was a strange visit to a familiar place in his life. The grave wasn't marked or known really. An unmarked grave with enough people buried around it to last a lifetime. Quincy burial grounds exist throughout this region. It was almost a hobby to see how many you could find. The fact was a person could spend their entire life and still never find them all. "So, I met someone interesting finally. You always said someday some girl would kick me out of my depressive mood.Made me tell a joke, I swear it was a strange thing. "

Talking to yourself a sure sign of insanity he figured. Ghislain didn't feel the cold relentless air or weather of the Russian countryside. No, it didn't bother him in the slightest. This was like a leisurely walk through the park and for him. At most, it was just missing a friendly conversation with a familiar face. Ghislain had plans and thoughts he was ready to begin designing a future for his people. But something else was egging him on. "I think the Vanguard may no longer require my services. My duty is to carve a path towards my beliefs if they should seek to alter that desire. Then our mutual benefit ends." Ghislain said pausing as he thought about it for a moment. Speaking to himself was alright as the former Emperor pulled the familiar pocket watch out. His hood still up he glanced at it taking in the object firmly. The picture of Elizabeth was shown to him as he signed a bit. Perhaps someday soon it would be replaced with Sofia's image.

"Whereas, our people are coming close to a breakthrough and may return to be something soon. They just need a little nudge in the right direction. I feel like the Vanguard needs one also, but they are so stubborn and stuck in their ways.Which coming from one of us is something. They need to embrace the next generation and prepare for what's to come. Preparation is required for facing Mana and her people. Hayden prepares Vastime, but who prepares the Vanguard?" Some would argue no preparation was required for the armies of Shadow's Fall. Those people were what he considered cannon fodder at best. The fact of the matter was a strategist never stop preparing. Everything is about setting the stage and making it work to the best of your capabilities. Quincy understood this a bit better in his mind. Or at least now they knew what was to come of the situation. Turning his back on the Vanguard wouldn't be an easy choice. But the question was, would they accept his proposal and prepare?

Or maybe they'd just sit ideal and say they were ready and good. That nothing needed to happen. If so it seemed his services wouldn't be required any longer. Elizabeth often said he stuck with things too long and maybe it was about time he took his wife's advice. This came off the adventure with Sofia. Being impaled and such did leave his thoughts wandering and concerned. Could the Vanguard be convinced that they needed to prepare? He faced Mana's fury and saw it for what it was indeed. She was a powerful foe, Vastime was ready. But was the Vanguard truly prepared for it? They'd lost almost every battle thus far they'd been in. But perhaps he was overthinking it and they'd made progress since he'd begun this pilgrimage.

It's starting to look a lot like, Christmas~! Which was kind of strange, because Christmas was over. People had done the whole thing and now they were back to doing the rest of the year thing. So Ulv just decided to let people do what they wanted and question why exactly it was looking like Christmas later. People were weird, she couldn't make everyone see properly, and she was a people, so clearly there was going to be issues in translation of her thought to her understanding that thought. Much like there was issues in translating what The Wind told her, to what she could understand.

Grasp The Earth, Grasp The World. Yes, she got it. She understood intimately. She saw it carved into walls because it was endlessly repeated in her ears and that was really it. She was developing, she knew where she was going to an extent, but did they have to keep on saying it? This snowy, nostalgic, comfortable place was a good place to practice, since the snow was so thick and heavy that actually grasping the Earth was hard. It made her realize that not all the time would she be on the Earth earth.

She kicked off a few times, but it didn't work out as well as she had hoped, and one time she caught her foot on something almost buried and face-planted into the plow. It was then that her ears picked up the talking of a man. He was questioning himself, it seemed. And where he was going on the road of Life. Ulv let him talk to himself for a bit, and then got up and Ulv'd over to him. He was a familiar man, yet another one of those she knew before she was born. She was at odds. On one hand, the development of Earth-Grasping Step showed her that The Earth was vaster than she could ever possibly comprehend. And yet, running into people she knew constantly, made The Earth seem really small.

"Your debate came to my ears and there are two questions to be asked. ONE! Which path can help the most people in need? TWO! Who needs the most help to reach their potential. Where you go lies in the answer to these two questions" Ulv exclaimed, putting her hands on her waist and sounding rather smart, considering she was covered in snow, wore the scruffiest overalls in the history of humanity, and was sporting a head of snow-flecked hair that looked as if it had never even heard that things like a Comb existed.

ENTER THE DEPTHS

This was a familiar feeling he felt when he gazed at this woman. She was an attractive and well-built female. His cerulean gaze shifted to her as he smiled a bit. This was the start of a bad joke that people would tell. A well-built woman and a Quincy on a graveyard. His eyes scanned her as he listened to her quietly and respectfully. She reminded him of someone though it was close to her. He didn't believe this woman to be her exactly in truth. He figured for sure she was someone else in the long run. Ghislain's eyes looked her up and down, his mind had changed after Sofia. Nine Hundred years of not looking at women and now you look. Such a weak-willed man he was in the long run. Her entrance did seem a bit spectacular as well. She'd face-planted before giving her advice and two sense on the subject. "That depends on your perspective, the Vanguard is doing well. They are a respected faction with many hands to do their duties. The Quincy race, on the other hand, is small and broken from our past errors."

Ghislain lowered his hood a bit and looked at her. She certainly had that glow that Mirja once did. Perhaps a reincarnation of his former friend? She certainly hadn't lost much of her Mirja nature that came of it. If that was the case at the very least. "In the end, I can only move forward never backward. " Ghislain said softly as he laid some roses on the ground near her grave. He looked down at her feet, she was attempting to grasp something. She was learning on this journey of hers. It was something else entirely to come from where she did. Ghislain exhaled a small cloud of air from his lungs. "You don't change much, back then you trained and even now.." But he couldn't say much since he was the same as well. Always looking for the next thing to begin moving forward towards goals and destinations. It wasn't easy being a former Emperor and trying to help from the outside. That's why the internal conversation began with him.

Perhaps it was best to go work on the inside of his people and help them. While he did enjoy the view Ulv provided, it was just the issue of him still believing the dogma. Quincy needed more heirs and people to continue the legacy. Besides this was a good friend, while he did take her in. He didn't mean it in a staring way or gawking way really. He didn't flirt or make attempts at flirting jokes with her. Not like he'd done with Sofia. This was a different sort of situation that went somewhere else. Perhaps it was just the awakening of realization as he tucked the pocket watch away. Maybe it was about time to start unearthing what the families had been working on. The Quincy had high clans and nobles which were very populated back then. Though most of them did die in a horrible fashion due to Yhwach's crusade. He also died pathetically like a dog to the circumstances that came. Ghislain's efforts with keeping that soul in check were eternal. But he could siphon away power from the former Emperor to begin a process.

Ghislain turned and kept his cerulean eyes locked on Ulv's eyes now. Not looking or checking her out for any reason or such.

Ulv pondered for a moment. The debate was a good one, and not one that Ulv was in a position to answer. She didn't know either of the two factions properly. But, she did know the leader of one of them. So she gave her point of view, and hoped it would help him out.
"One sage may do the work of a thousand fools. Respect does not guarantee proficiency, it could just be riding the coattails of the past. Resting on their laurels. On the other hand, a small group allows for a closely knit community where everyone knows what they are doing, and why they are doing it. Having past errors gives perspective as to what to avoid. And Rakki is a very good leader, from what I saw. Has her head on right, cares deeply for her people, is a little bit crazy, and has someone to love"

Ulv smiled softly at the last bit. Rakki had someone to love, and Ulv had someone to love. The pair were completely opposed in nature, and yet got along so perfectly. Her heart thumped to think about Rakki. And it was a deep, intense feeling of love that made her feel like she didn't need to know who she was. 'Rakki's Lover' was enough identity for her to get on.
"Still, the Quincy sound like the best to go for. The Vanguard is a big operation with a lot of people. Unless you get the spot as the leader, you are unlikely to make a difference that is worth your presence. The longer a piece of string, the harder it is to untangle all the knots. And I am sure someone will be around to suggest the Quincy and the Vanguard work closely together, with yourself as the envoy"

He smiled softly as he exhaled a breath, the course was clear. His people only needed a nudge in the right direction. The Vanguard needed a drop kick in his eyes. But maybe it was the time the brooding Emperor just did the normal thing. He'd lived a rather ordinary life through most of his time period. But he did learn one thing from Sofia, he needed to grow stronger. To push past the limitations that were holding him down. Perhaps it was truly time for him to seek training from others. Ghislain had trained through there culture and beliefs. Often times performing and acting as they needed him too. He fought Hayden and lost entirely due to the male's raw power. And something he'd lost a long time ago, his resolve to see this hunt. Perhaps the Vandenreich didn't need him anymore and maybe soon the Vanguard wouldn't either. But he wasn't such a broken man to be needed anywhere. Ghislain was someone could travel the seven seas. And still find a happy moment for him somewhere as he smiled. It had been awhile since he'd smiled.

So the road was clear, neither side needed him absolutely. The Vanguard could certainly use someone of his talent and caliber. But if he was really to aid Sofia. One thing was clear, Ghislain needed to become stronger. Much stronger in order to find his way further. "Ah words of wisdom, now it's time for me to start becoming stronger..I've lingered where I am too long, I need to seek out those who can help me grow." Ghislain moved his arm and black roses formed of a strange energy formed. He wasn't sure what tools needed to be taken in order to truly begin moving. Ghislain would grow and then he and Sofia would fight again. It wouldn't be the same as last with him pulling his punches. Or him attempting to simply flirt with her endlessly, when the time came. He and she would clash like titans and eventually find their ways. Ghislain hadn't truly embraced his power completely yet since the time began. He'd not made new techniques or tried to find a way around things.

Perhaps it was time for him to seek out and clash against some of the strongest enemies in this world. It was time for Ghislain Eberhart to move forward. To build Quincy techniques that would surpass imagination and go further. Dark Ginto, he'd been working on a material that could withstand his furry. And allow him to create and make things out of Ginto based material. To fight like his brethren people had so long ago. The material was the hard part, but soon enough Ghislain would prepare something potent. "But the battle isn't how a Quincy truly prepares, I have an Achilles heel address first." He said smiling at her as he cracked his shoulders left to right. It was time for him to begin and make something new and potent for him to truly begin. Ghislain would fashion a new kind of Ginto series that would do something beyond the imagination. He was gifted at manipulating and controlling the energy around him. With devastating effect when it came down to it.

Ulv wasn't sure where this guy was going anymore. He was talking to himself and she was just stood on the said with an 'ok' look on her face as he seemed to get really hyped about something he totally wasn't sharing. Some plan or whatnot that had derailed from his original conundrum of if he wanted to help the Quincy or the Vanguard. Her words had sparked him to go off on a complete tangent, and leave Ulv behind. Which was fine, she'd just leave him to his thought and go running elsewhere. There was always a need to run, after all.

"Mmm, just be mindful of the many facates of strength. The Weak are not always powerless, and the Strong are not always powerful. Don't be caught up in chasing an idea, that you miss what is in front of you, and what your mind tells your body. But you look smart, so I am sure you'll figure it out" She then gave him a cherry wave, and headed off into the Russian Tundra, to find somewhere that wasn't currently occupied by strange men. Training was a thing to be done alone, after all.
