26 - Pale Preparation Sofia vs Tsubasa 6EdIfMt

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: N/A

It had been a while since someone had hired him for something simple. But this was an interesting diversion in truth also. The Quincy wished to know of Mana's kin. Or at least their former Emperor did, the male had come to him during a visit to Karakura. Making a request to come here and fight in this place. The sun hung high over the horizon and it did look like an interesting place. Several barriers and such were in place allowing for him to fight without holding back. Tsubasa smiled a bit as he waited calmly for whoever it was coming. He suspected that man was sending a person to witness his power for a reason. Tsubasa had liked Quincy personally, finding them effective against the Hollows. He suspected they'd be equally useful against the Demons. He brought his kiseru to his lips blow some smoke out of his mouth. This situation and area seemed to be decently selected and truly in the middle of nowhere. Tsubasa noticed enough barriers were put up, but his contractor had underestimated him a touch.

Though he suspected this was going to be an interesting encounter regardless. Tsubasa Unabara, the Pale Rider a man whose legacy had built itself. He'd fought three members of Mana's family and prevented the destruction of the Soul Society. He didn't have a soft side really in the long run. He was a butcher and killer who believed killing a million for a billion was fine. Tsubasa was a ruthless man who took what he wanted. He did things without thinking about organization or factions. And in terms of raw power, he was a rival of Mana and those others. But due to his nature people gave him a long distance avoiding him. It wasn't as though it wasn't warranted. But one mistake was made by people around him. That he cared about the situation or having a job somewhere. He did this to pass time at this point till he could start his task. Tsubasa intended to be a single man army against Shadow's Fall. He was designing his own doll armies and building them for the purpose of defeating them.

As an inventor, Tsubasa was a man who's mind on soul engineering was extremely potent. He'd developed and designed several things. The Soul A.I, a version of Artifical Intelligence he made by tinkering around with previous inventions. Tsubasa's eyes slowly took on the horizon as he thought about his next move. Where would he unveil the force he was building. Perhaps it was the time he started making people fall in line. The only reason he accepted this task was that it fell on his agenda. Certainly, it was also useful to see how potent these Quincy were. He could tactically guess how useful they'd be. He suspected they'd be the ace in the hole in the coming days. His job was one that it had always been. Fighting whoever Mana sent out and keeping them busy. Next time he'd not encounter his daughter but a member of that family. Inami was on their side and plans to do things. That would take some time for him to truly begin building his forces. Shinigami Dolls, creations made for a singular purpose.

So much effort put forward, he'd predicted his exile as well. That was sadly a part of the game plan. Tsubasa couldn't work within a system or a structure. Not as effective in the sense of the word. He was better as a loose cannon. Something that could fire when it needed to do so for the situation. Smoke fell from his lips around him as he decided to release a portion of his spiritual pressure. The ground trembled as small bolts of electricity danced around the ground and air. Tsubasa's intent to kill was fresh in the air. It filled the air as he exhaled a bit and put his kiseru out. It was almost time for the girl to arrive here and begin this. It wasn't a training exercise or anything like that. This one needed to see Mana's presence, that means a singular purpose. He'd gotten his energy under control at this point. He could release it one of several ways and do many things. He was also capable of using high-level kidos among other things. Tsubasa wasn't a singular being but multiple tiered ones.

His digits ran along the hilt of his katana as he knew what needed to be done. This edge would taste Quincy blood today, not a death. But the one who came would bleed in someway. But it never paid to look down on a foe. Expect everything that comes at you with a fierce determination. Tsubasa had an ambition to finalize and this girl and the funds he gathered. They would play towards the prospect of building something new. His goals weren't accomplished just yet, the time for that was coming in the future. The Quincy and the Shinigami would need to be a united front. Though at this point he cared little what the Gotei and they did. Or perhaps that's what he told himself to sleep at night. Either way, the man known as the Reaper of Zaraki was ready to deliver what he was asked for. The rest would be up to how much this person could learn and handle. Otherwise, this adventure would go only so far he imagined. Tsubasa's crimson gaze settled as he began focusing on his surroundings. This place would change drastically in a little while to look something like hell.

The Melody

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

It had been requested of her, but the girl didn’t need a lot of encouragement to agree. Ghislain had set up something rather special for her. She was to meet up with the former Captain Commander of the Gotei and face him in battle. It wasn’t to the death but rather to show each of them something highly valuable. For Sofia was likely to see what some of the best of the best to have come out of Soul Society looked like; at least as far as combat potential. It served to showcase the skill and might of some of the associates of the Demons that didn’t regularly get singled out when speaking of their combat potential. It served as a reminder for her to continue getting stronger because the threshold for the limits were so far away and beyond both him and her, that the two could likely train forever, and still have heaps of knowledge to attain.

However, it looked as though Ghislain had set it up just as much for Sofia’s benefit as for Tsubasa. No doubt he was acquainted with the former Captain, likely a friend of his. But he might not have known personally of the young girl Sofia. Still, it stood to reason he would at least have heard of her, though she couldn’t lay fault on him if he didn’t. Only those that were in the know about the Quincy and their affairs were likely as informed. If he was, Tsubasa would have likely recognized her appearance and name as belonging to the one known both as The Melody, and the Quincy Prodigy.

The girl was barely a young girl by normal human standards. But compared to spiritual beings she was a baby. Despite being only 23 years old at the time, the girl had already shown so much promise. She had long surpassed Niflheim, an elder Quincy well over millennia old. There was no doubt Sofia was the evolution of the new generation, destined to lead her people. The girl had even shown a near genius intellect as her prodigious skill in both art and combat seeped into other aspects of her life. She had shown a keen interest in Ginto techniques, an art that was long thought forgotten and considered largely obsolete. She managed to use her mastership over her reiryoku and her dominion over reishi to create a new powerful item and a line of models that stood as an evolution to the Ginto.

What’s more, on her own, she created an extremely powerful and useful technique that allowed specific members within the Wandenreich taught by her, to travel almost anywhere in the verse. It was her gift to them, and the answer to the Arrancar’s garganta. It didn’t stop there, since the girl continuously created new and innovative technique, always pushing the envelope of what a Quincy could do with their own energy. And more recently, thanks to the man with whom she had found a different level of fondness, the girl had even uncovered her very own regalia. It stood to reason that during their battle, regardless of the outcome both of them were bound to be surprised by the other. It was the expectation. Her goal wasn’t to see how long she could last against him. Her goal was to make sure she lasted all the way. Make no mistake, she didn’t expect to win there, but she would go into it fully intending to. There was simply no other way.

She had to admit though that the choice of opponent was quite interesting. Of all people, Ghislain had chosen him. She was thankful he had, as Sofia couldn’t think of many stronger than him. More importantly however was the fact that they were so similar yet so different in almost every single way. She knew about Tsubasa’s skill and fame with kido, and speed, and with the blade and his inventions. But likewise, nowadays everyone knew about Sofia’s skill and fame with reishi and reiryoku techniques, and speed, and with the blade and her inventions. Much like him, Sofia had used her prodigious nature and talent to make truly extraordinary and powerful energy techniques to answer to the kido of the Shinigami and the magic of the demons.

Most Quincy was content with the archaic and the classic, but she pushed the envelope of what was thought possible. Likewise with the blade, she had turned an art she disliked when younger into one of her more powerful and refined skills. Not depending on physical prowess but rather on her surreal speed, elegance, fluidity and momentum, she had managed to craft a style not many could keep up with. The large new and unorthodox style had won her many battles against truly devoted students of the blade. There was more than a high chance Tsubasa would know that as soon as he laid eyes on her. She’d be surprised otherwise. Still, it didn’t take away from the fact that despite being very different in some regards, the two shared more similarities than most.

”It looks like it’s my lucky day, though I’m sure you’re the type to talk with your body and save the conversation for when it matters most.”

She knew he likely had questions as did she, but she also knew he meant business…just like her. It almost a bit strange how much the Shinigami reminded the girl of herself. The two were there for a reason, and it was unlikely that either of them would kill the other unless it was truly an intention. In any case, walking up before him, the girl would give a solitary vow, one arm over the upper part of her midsection, and the other outstretched behind her. Rather than a purely formal bow, it was more indicative of what one would see in a musician or a performer such as herself. Despite this, there was a clear feeling of grace and beauty emanating from her. From the dark locks of her silky hair to the smooth look of her skin, to the slender shape of her body and the heft of her bosom and contours of her backside. She was indeed gifted in most areas, and Tsubasa was about to find out why she was given the moniker of the Melody and the Prodigy.

So this was the girl in question, Sofia Montero. In Quincy terms, she had an excellent lineage. She came from a noble family in their terms with a good pedigree. But that mattered so very little in his eyes what he was concerned with was further. Shadow Fall would fall like their last name suggested. He didn't know how exactly, but his strategies and plans were around that. He'd made a choice and decided to follow through with it ever since Iriko. His eyes followed everything this girl did and tried to accomplish. She was an interesting case of a Quincy who was going to do something. She'd grown tired of watching people do nothing and gain nothing for it. Maybe it was about time someone burned this entire status quo to the ground. He watched her bow similar to a musician. No more akin to a conductor of an orchestra. That's what it struck him as he turned and faced her now. His eyes were blood red, something about the aura Tsubasa gave off was different. Likely from most, she'd met as he stood silently and offered her a slight respectful nod of his head.

"Winner gets one demand of the other." He didn't make it sound like a request. It was him making sure she understood the conditions of this battle. Tsubasa didn't intend to take it easy on her as she did need to see. See how pale things were looking for her faction. As Niflheim sat playing tea and cake with those who came. The demons slowly engulfed and took over the natural world. The balance was in piss poor shape and the Gotei was too busy with Ibiki's hate for the Monsuta. So Tsubasa had made a choice not many would have made. He abandoned his organization entirely by getting himself exiled. He didn't care where he went now as he made his preparations to battle Shadow Fall. Tsubasa's planning stages were likely far ahead of Ghislain's or Sofias. Only because he had fought Shadow Fall on several occasions. He knew the collective might of their forces. The first time would need to be tactical and capable.

As she seemed ready Tsubasa put his hand on the katana of his two blades. A strange breath left his body as he released his spiritual pressure now. In terms of power, Tsubasa was a being in his own category which Sofia likely realized now. His spiritual energy was, in essence, huge and couldn't be defined by simple logic. But that wasn't the truly frightening part. Tsubasa was going to give her a show that she wouldn't forget. He didn't intend on taking it easy on her all the way. The goal was for Sofia to see just how scary Mana and them could be. She needed to witness the power of one of them in the works. Tsubasa didn't know why Ghislain gave this girl to him. He did like what he saw, thus he made those conditions. If she asked him what he was after she'd be met with silence. Tsubasa didn't intend to let her leave her now without taking her. Sofia would be his at this point as a resource she was valuable. Too valuable to let the Quincy squander her on some crap they put together.

Shadow Fall needed to be beaten soundly and put on their heels. Tsubasa didn't know exactly how or what would come of that. But the time for such pondering had come to an end. His crimson gaze remained story set on Sofia. She had a good body, which did motivate him to win. He didn't intend to underthink her prowess or skills either. He suspected she could set a trap so it would be best to be prepared. He was well aware of Sofia and did take interest in her. She seemed capable of a couple things that were of note. In her battles, she could manipulate sound. Ghislain did divulge some of her skill set, though not everything was clear. The male clearly didn't study the female's actions closely. Most people didn't take the initiative in fighting and that was a problem. Mana wasn't like most, she could play both sides at the same time. He'd heard reports of her fighting style and did visualize and see what it was. It didn't give it justice as his digits softly wrapped further around his sword.

Tsubasa used one flash step and the speed he displayed as he moved. Was something to behold his katana had been drawn by the time he reached her. The blade coming outward and horizontally to cut her across the chest. He was fairly certain if she was going to interest him further. This could be a fun event to go through he imagined. As his zanpakuto slice finished its arc he was able to recover almost instantly. Bringing the blade back as he remained calm and prepared. Tsubasa was starting this fight out small to get things moving. Sofia was a tough enemy to take on he'd imagined. His steel gaze remained on Sofia almost like he was staring through her. He was focusing on everything she could do. What factors came in and were things he could accomplish. Tsubasa's intentions were different from most. He took what he wanted and did what he wanted. It didn't make a difference to him what happened. Shadow's Fall was the objective if he was hated as a villain so be it.

But he'd not drag his family into this entire tailspin he was creating. He left them with their city and devices. Though he never did divulge how to make the new device. Nor would he, that device wouldn't be shown to anyone. Not yet, perhaps his new toy he intended obtain. She would do nicely as a figure. Tsubasa's next attack had already begun if the girl did manage to dodge the blade. She'd need to of stepped back further as a surge of electricity followed it. This would send reverberations through her nervous system. Shocking the female with a small voltage. Akin to being hit by a super taser in some manner of speaking. His mind was calculating and preparing strategies around what her reactions would be. He had twenty-five plans in place already involving the outcomes and possible battle scenarios. Worst of the best case was already planned ahead. Tsubasa had been called so many things that didn't really matter. This battle would likely show him collecting the important pieces needed for destroying Shadow's Fall.

The Melody

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

The stage had been set, and she was ready to play. Before she even got there, the girl had passed through several layers of complex barriers. None that were too difficult to understand, but they were impressive nonetheless. It could be difficult to quantify the distance they spawn but given the caliber of both fighters it was safe to say it likely spawned several miles at the very least. Anything from outside its boundaries, and not meant to pass through could not. And all the foreseeable destruction and cataclysmic results that were about to ensure would be restrained by the space within the barriers. Frankly, Sofia had never been one very interested in creating barriers. Though her intellect and drive made her create all sorts of famous and fascinating structures, the large majority of them were catered for combat and how to facilitate it; forms of offense, defense, or simple combat utility. Still, she had to admit barriers did have their uses. All else being perfect, sooner rather than later she would likely think to invest the time to create one of her own, if anything to project an environment where she could test out her newest techniques away from prying eyes.

The man before her inspired respect especially due to the power he commanded. Of course, Sofia had never been one to vow in fear to anything or anyone, and he wasn’t any different. She was born proud, and created a path for her that placed her at the forefront. Tsubasa might have been impressive in most regards, but he was about to discover the true worth of the Quincy prodigy. Despite the successes and might of true Quincy behemoths like Yhwach, the Shinigami would soon come to the striking realization everyone else had: Sofia was just steps away from becoming the most powerful Quincy that had ever lived. And unlike those who power could still be compared to hers, she was centuries, if not millennia younger than they were. She had earned the nickname, and the man was about to find out why.

In an instant Tsubasa had flickered, almost as if she had blinked and caught a sight of her own lashes. Against almost anyone else, the target would have been oblivious to the movement in its entirety. And despite the Shinigami possessing such a level of speed that hardly any could match, Sofia was widely known for her extreme speeds and the mastership she commanded over it. Although she hadn’t anticipated what he’d do, the girl responded with what she deemed was the most important, even if not the most ideal response. Raising her right hand, the silver and gold ring glowed, the diamonds shimmering as well as it transformed into a blade that clung to her hand. The weapon looked to be made of the toughest metals and of onyx, and gold, and silver. Right away, her blade would meet his as it stopped the attack. She didn’t exert force to push him back or to keep herself steady however. Instead, the girl simply allowed her blade to graze and slide along the length of his as she permitted her body the freedom to go with its own momentum. The point was to ideally use that same movement to slice at one of his legs, although it was to no avail. The Shinigami had moved back before she had a chance to get him.

26 - Pale Preparation Sofia vs Tsubasa OnfS5Bn

All of a sudden, a crackling wave of electricity had been fired her way. It wasn’t that it was too fast to see or too fast to avoid however. Instead, it had been more the relatively close distance between them and yes, the speed of the attack that made it a daunting task. There was no time to run or create something elaborate, so the girl was forced to think on the spot and proceed as best she could. Almost out of reflex, she moved her free hand forth, a strong wave music would wash up out and away from her. It had the purpose to move back or away the electricity so that it took a course and a potential target that was not her. Despite his power, had she had more time she would’ve likely succeeded. After all, it was much easier to nudge something in a random location than it was to purposely shift it in a very specific way. In essence, the powerful wave of musical sounds had managed to push out most of the electricity but not all of it. Some did indeed end up hitting her, causing a pretty sharp but momentary pain to course throughout her body. Pressing her teeth against each other and tightening her hold on the blade, she tried her best to endure the damage. It hadn’t been too much, but had she not acted as she did the consequences would’ve been dire.

It was her turn. Sofia was always one to remain several steps ahead of her opponent in terms of planning, and she was about to make her initial moves. It was the first time she had faced against someone truly powerful. The Shell and Ghislain had been powerful in their own right, but simply pushing herself and using her abilities wisely was enough to level the playing field and make it a true contest. Against Tsubasa, his power dictated that she went all out and in ways she never had before. She needed to use each and every technique and much more wisely than she ever had. She needed to surprise even herself. She didn’t just intend to last, she intended to surprise him and give him one of the toughest battles he had never expected. As soon as she shrugged off the pain, five of her modified seeles would quickly rush out before her. They were not held by her hands and they did not seem to be held by anything visible either. Instead, it just looked as though they were pulled by will itself, or was it something else entirely?

In any case, the seeles would ignite with the blades facing away from him and towards Tsubasa. With her other hand which held her blade, Sofia pulled back as a bow string back created there, and bow legs right on her other hand. Just like that, the five modified, green bladed seele were fired off as arrows towards her opponent. They didn't simply travel fast however. By nature, it was an extremely fast attack as arrows from Quincy were meant to be extremely quick attacks in their delivery. But if that wasn’t enough, Sofia would use her ability The Melody to add even more speed in the way of an additional Mach 1. Of course, there would be no tell tale sign other than musical sounds, and an absurdly faster speed of her shot. She wasn’t sure what the change in speed would mean for him, but she certainly knew it would make it more difficult to dodge. But of course, the girl had already planned for the chance that he did.

Prior to firing the five seele, she attached the strings of her technique Ransotengai Rengoku to the handles of the items. The strings were not visible as the condensed and thin films of reishi meshed so well with her energy flowing around the field that it would be like finding a white spot on an already white wall. Only those whose whose reishi manipulation was higher than hers could see the strings [after an additional post], and she had met only one man so far who could claim that for now, Ghislain. Tsubasa was no Quincy. Regardless, had he stood still or done nothing against the attacks, the conglomerate of seele would have stabbed right through him with unyielding might, and at extremely fast speeds, many more times the speed of sound. However, should he have reacted in the slightest in a way that indicated moving away or performing some kind of elusive maneuver, Sofia would will her Melody to act upon the fired seele.

Though she didn’t need the strings to manipulate them, the fact that they were connected to the strings, and by extension her, made it seem as though she was much closer to them and could manipulate them with perfection as opposed to well, without them. And she made no attempt to hide them. With her free hand she would motion and sway it back and forth, directing the blades to move through the air in all kinds of directions and making turns and twists at those great speeds to continuously besiege and search for their target to impale them. On the hand that held the her blade Rona, Sofia held a few ginto away from sight. There was no telling what purpose they had or if they had any. But should the situation turn even more interesting, there was a chance that the prodigy had a calculated plan to try and allow her to rise up against the challenge of a truly formidable opponent.

There was some relief to the fact his slower speeds didn't go unanswered. She'd been able to in essence block the important portion of his strike. The electricity, while it was a low setting, she dealt with it admirably. She deflected the important bits and took a small bit of his energy. That was an impressive feature to find out about at this juncture. She prepared her at as his senses focused in on her and his eyes found that lightly colored glow. It was difficult certainly to see them, but it was strategically important to have strings there. She'd proven herself above average already to him by surviving his first attack. So he guessed it was about time he prepared to face her down. His eyes watched those judging and calculating the trajectory. And any alternated pathways she could create with the strings. The possibilities were endless they truly were for her in this situation. The handles weren't normal like other Quincy weapons which used metal. Clever girl indeed, she'd replaced it with a composite based alloy which he couldn't manipulate. As for what he guessed to string a lot sooner than most people. The glimmering light did indicate something connecting to the handles. Given her nature thus far and a strategic outlook on how to fight him. It was most likely she'd of put strings on the ends of them. To activate or create a possible attack of sorts. That was an interesting plan that he was tempted to see come to fruition. But he did need to at least make this a bit more challenging for her. After all fighting him and not getting something out of it would be a bit rude. He'd need to step up his footwork and speed now. Perhaps it was time for a true display of speed. Shukuchi would do nicely in this situation as he tapped his foot on the ground. The angle and trajectory were slowed down for him thanks to a skill he developed. It also helped that Izanagi predicted angles and trajectories within his brain. So the next part was how did he want to avoid them?

Tsubasa's bag of tricks wasn't small so he decided to use an attack based feint with his flash step. Tsubasa's movement began and it was indeed faster then one would expect from his previous one. He brought his blade downwards quickly to strike her across the chest. Making sure to do it as he came about for it. Tsubasa had picked up the pace but had prepared a surprise for her. This one who'd come in front upon contact would vanish almost like an illusion. He didn't really name this step technique. It lacked a reason to do so, as it would flicker and almost disappear. He suspected she'd be able to do several moves from here. But it was about time he showcased some skill of his own. He'd yet to truly do anything insane as he stood 5 meters behind her. He muttered the words, Black Coffin. Tsubasa's favorite kido to use and one he'd customized for certain encounters. This would give her something to play with for a moment as he got himself ready. His radar was ready around him for any disturbances.

Anything that would cause air or a change in the area around him. Tsubasa had gone with this as his method of attack on a Quincy. Kido was said to be meaningless against Quincy. He was curious if this was so as he didn't know for sure. He prepared several party favors around him. As his second blade hung idly at his waist waiting for the proper moment. The box closing around Sofia if she did nothing would pierce the entire thing with spears. So it was likely he guessed that she'd be completely immune to this type of kido. If he were to make a guess, she'd use her sound waves to protect her in some manner. Or manipulate the energy of the spears before they touched her. That was all it took truly for her to really do something. But the kido was more of a diversion so he could ascertain something. Tsubasa had moved far enough away and hidden his presence. To get an idea of how to deal with Sofia. He was tactically studying the female's reaction before he began.

This fight had only begun, once the box vanished or did its thing. The options were limited to a close range based battle. In long-range Quincy did often hold an edge. Though he could deal in any field or area himself. Tsubasa didn't think the kido would showcase much of an effect on the girl. Using that little spell had likely done little to make her waver. Depending on how she responded to it, the information was all he needed. There was one thing she didn't notice he hoped was the static build up in the air. The place around them was getting higher in static electricity, though she may have seen it. So within that coffin the moment it came down. He snapped his fingers and the entire area erupted. It was like a bomb that caused the area around Sofia and where he'd been to spark and send out a much larger amount of voltage. He guessed she was about past the startup phase and he could active his Shunko soon. She'd likely get a kick out of the fact he knew how to use it. But he suspected she had several plans and strategies in place herself.

Battle was about preparing an honest and potent assault. But it was more than that, they both were feeling one another out. Testing the waters and seeing what each had to offer. Sofia didn't know this, but it was a job interview for her. Not one she had a choice in the matter in either. He wasn't going to let her waste such talent on tea parties. Though she was attractive thus far and an itch needed scratching down the road. But for now, it was best to put such things aside for the moment. Tsubasa's gaze was watching her and keeping everything in sight. His focus on even the smallest whisper would be noticed instantly. He was prepared to face her and go into a clash of epic proportions. She had several plans open and ready but so did he. Tsubasa was prepared for up to fifty possible outcomes. Two hundred moves in advance were ready to be executed if need be. She'd need to break his nano skin first before the battle could truly commence.

Tsubasa and Sofia were inventors and brilliant minds, that was wasted in a way by their factions. People questioned what they were doing with their lives. In truth it wasn't a question, Shadow Fall's grip on earth needed to be loosened. People needed some form of hope at this point, Vanguard was doing decent. But their progress and people within were sitting shortly. Their next leader would need to be a good one, that could at the very least make people believe. Otherwise, they were on the cusp of a failure. Tsubasa didn't know what else to call it but that. As for Ibiki and her people. This hatred for Monsuta from Tora's time period never went away. She took Adam for Tora and that was all there was to it. The fact was this job interview held so many important things. Tsubasa would eventually bend this girl to his will one way or another. It was almost time for him to reveal his trap card. He'd hidden a something beneath Kyokko another kido spell while she was busy. She was a very intelligent girl after all.

Sometimes things needed to be prepared in advance for those like her.

The Melody

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

The Quincy was an individual that was hardly ever satisfied. No matter how much she had progressed or how many discoveries she had made, it simply wasn’t enough. Sofia had accomplished more in 23 years than anyone she had ever met before. She had a mentality of always being proud, but never satisfied. She just kept going. The same was true when it came to her view on others and expectations. The girl was so used to her own limitless drive to keep going that she simply expected the same from everyone else. In this scenario, though she had to admit that Tsubasa was impressive in almost every way, she still needed more. She had a lot of power and techniques backing her, but so did Tsubasa; and he had the years of experience in his favor. Despite his own intellect and tactical mind however, Sofia possessed the mind of a strategist that was simply foreign to the new generation. Managing to surprise even Ghislain, a man that was famous for that very thing, spoke highly of her. The Shinigami would soon come to find out that she wasn’t just powerful for her combat capabilities, but through all she could do outside of that sphere to influence it.

The man had managed to avoid and momentarily outrun the reach of her five modified seeles, but that was to be expected. In a great display of speed he had rushed his way to her, trying to slice away at her with unyielding might. However, Sofia didn’t seem as surprised as she ought to be, and she didn’t even move that much or react to the situation. Despite his great speed, the girl was still a master of the art and had she wanted, she could have at the very least tried to get away. Instead, the girl seemed to have dropped some of her Ginto just as he had begun moving. Right away, an extremely large spinning disk appeared over her free hand. It was very large, almost as much as her, and despite its angelic looking silvery white rendition, it was extremely dangerous. It difficult to tell how fast it spun, but it was beyond a doubt faster than either of them could move. It had to do that to create that chainsaw like effect. There was a plan in mind, and then everything changed for the worst. To her surprise, the man before her had been a ruse; a simple clone created by his speed. It baffled her that she had been fooled that time, but picking up on subtle details after witnessing, it looked as though she wouldn’t be fooled by the same thing twice. At least not with the same degree of power he exuded. In battle, much like in the games of chess she loved, a player needed to be mindful and quick thinking. Even if strategies were planned several steps ahead, one needed to possess the fortitude to analyze a situation with a sense of urgency, and reallocate resources as needed.

Sofia didn’t have time to guess what Tsubasa would do. That was a mistake she was not willing to make. Instead, she simply shifted the purpose of the attack she had created to better serve her. As soon as the Shinigami had disappeared, the five seele would continue their path right through her location. In fact, some of them moved so close to her body that had she moved a single muscle she could have gotten cut or impaled by her own attack. After all, though she had full control over the direction and movement of the attack thanks to the Melody, so close to her body it became difficult to discern the dangers. It should have come as a surprise, and given the sheer speed they possessed and the dismal distance between him and the blades, it would certainly take a lot of effort not just to block the attack in time, but to simply escape it outright. Between her attack and his, it should have distracted him enough to lose sight of her momentarily. After all, trying to fend off or escape her attack, while creating his own, and also keeping his eyes glued on her was more than one could muster, even for someone like him. The onslaught that was coming his way was meant to damage and push him away. However Tsubasa dealt with it, if he did was up to him. The Quincy prodigy had other matters of importance to concern herself with.

Black coffin? Are you serious?? The thoughts rang through her head like a flash. She definitely knew what the attack was and how it behaved. After all, Sofia had studied kido extensively during her upbringing as it became a foundation for her creation of all kinds of reishi and reiryoku techniques. And while she wasn’t acquainted with every single kido available to the Shinigami, the black coffin was one of the strongest, most dangerous, and more iconic of their kind. There was little to no time to think. Thinking meant dying. She had to use her intellect and ingenuity, and overall, her instinct. To escape the coffin of death would require more than strength. It required to think outside the box. While the Quincy weren’t too fond of delving into the techniques they could create through reishi, Sofia wasn’t like them. She wasn’t content with just absorbing things. She knew that reishi could be as powerful as kido or even more so. One only needed the drive and the ingenuity and creative she had to push the envelope further.

As soon as the five seele went past her, the girl would attack every string they had onto her body. She would make them latch and bind as hard as they could. In doing so they attack should have carried her out and through the technique. The combined effort of the five sharp seele being pushed at extreme speeds by her Melody, the spinning edge of her saw-like disc, and Sofia herself had managed to break through one of the walls before the spikes filled its entirety. However, even after exiting, she hadn’t landed very far away from the box. As the spikes went throughout the length of the box, one actually extended out and slashed the side of her left upper arm, between the elbow and the triceps. It wasn’t a strike through and as such she wasn’t pierced. But still, it grazed enough to draw blood, and of course, cause great pain. In the end however, victory loved preparation, and Sofia continued to lay down the foundation to push for it. Right before she had forced her way out, the girl had left a hand filling sphere of an onyx color within, pressing a red button before leaving it there. After the black coffin did its work, a crazy powerful blast of electricity would surge through it, rending asunder whatever remained on the inside. She had been lucky to have gotten out when she did, as the fate that awaited her had she not would’ve been many times worse the pain she experienced.

Strangely enough, the loudness and the damage of the blast lasted only a split second if that. Right away, both the box and the blast had disappeared as if they had never existed to begin with. On her end, Sofia would toss another similarly looking sphere at him , opening up to release a plethora of black spikes from the black coffin kido, and the devastating electricity from the blast. Tsubasa would surely have been in a pinch then. He had to worry about several sharp seele still coming at him at fast speeds in excess of Mach 1, despite Sofia cutting the strings just after she exited the kido. But he also had to fight off his own attack. The Ginto sphere onyx had managed to absorb the foreign energy in its surrounding and release it through the other sphere she threw at him. Without even paying attention to the kind of devastating damage black coffin and the blast of energy could create, Tsubasa had a lot more to worry about. Sure, he still had to figure out how to stand up against, and fight off that kind of damage. There was also the fact that escaping it would have been silly. Both attacks were just as fast as they were powerful, especially the electric blast. And to add insult to injury, Sofia could now affect them with her Melody to make them at least 1 Mach faster than they already were to begin with; but there was more. Despite the deadly darkness of the several black coffin spikes, the sheer brightness of the electricity completely encased and shrouded from sight the bright green hue of her seele, meaning that dodging those would be very impractical. The large and bright spinning disk she had created had also been tossed into the amalgam of attacks, blending nicely into invisibility by the light. But to make it even more interesting, the girl would snap her fingers twice, creating a rather nice tune.

The first snap to her fingers would cause the blades to rearrange location and separate and the disk to move a bit from where it originally was; though they all were still directed at him. It allowed her to cover more ground within the electric blast filled with black coffin spikes. The second snap had kickstarted her heiling buchstabe technique as the letter A would be marked onto both her midsection and his back. The interesting thing about the technique was how tedious and benign it was. Sofia couldn’t pick what letters she could use to affect her target. Instead, she was at the mercy of the words he provided her. She could only choose the letters from words she spoke herself to affect well, herself. It also took a very long time to set up any usable word. For all those reasons it was created especially difficult to dispel. But more importantly, above all else, the technique was meant to draw a link, a connection that placed Sofia and Tsubasa as jointed parts. They had both been marked and both could suffer consequences depending on damage and words used. Meaning that, just as Ghislain had found out, the only way to truly get rid of the technique was for Sofia to die or for her to run out of energy since she was part of the cursed link. Smart opponents like Ghislain however would soon find the letters marked and somehow reason the best way to speak to avoid purposely placing themselves into danger. The technique had even surprised Hebi, arguably one of the most infamous inventors that had ever been seen in the spiritual world.

”Say something. Don’t tell me you’ve been so shocked as to go mute. Nonetheless, I hope you’re being surprised in the best of ways.”

The words would not come until after the aftermath of the catastrophic attacks that had been sent his way. The plethora of spears from black coffin, the devastating onslaught of the electric blast, the five spread out seele and the large spinning saw-like disc blended into the light. Yea… she was in for a treat. He wouldn’t be able to tank it or even stop them all with a single attack, regardless of the power it possessed. There was simply too much being thrown at him, with her power in addition to his own, and at a very short distance. Still, she first wanted to see what happened after all was said and done. Nonetheless, as soon as she was done speaking, the letter S would be etched on her midsection. There was no denying that Sofia was outstanding. There was no denying that Tsubasa was impressive but she already knew that. And despite what he had heard of her, he would soon come to share the fact that she was about to become, sooner than later, the most powerful Quincy that had ever lived. Sooner than later she would overshadow even Yhwach. No doubt, the Shinigami would find comfort in the fact that someone so young with ideals that matched his in regards to the demons also possessed so much untold power.

From time to times, the girl did wonder whether her efforts were wasted on her people. She had purposely chosen the position of Captain because she didn’t want to deal with the paperwork that came with being an Executive. Also, in those positions the people only had limited exposure to the military and their only level of enforcement was through verbal command. On the other hand, Sofia got to see her men face to face, instruct them, and lead them into battle instead of spewing garbage from behind a desk. Yet, despite all her efforts her people were still a far cry away from what they could be, and eons away from what they once were. Though she didn’t like to admit it, there was no other way but to agree with Luna, the First Sternritter, and her remarks. Besides possibly herself, the current ranks of the Quincy were entirely made of cowards, pussies, idiots, or an unfortunately clever combination of them all. To truly make change in the world and try to defeat the Demons, Sofia would ought to align herself with people as strong as her or stronger. There was no point in sitting pretty hoping for the best, and looking at the world through rose colored glasses as Niflheim and the rest did. There were even talks of the Vanguard, the once high and mighty defender of the peace, allying or rather reaching a form of peace agreement with Shadow Fall. Times were changing, and it looked like simply for the worst. The girl hadn’t fully made her mind up yet. She knew that certain things were necessary to achieve an end. While she wouldn’t sacrifice herself to darkness like she once did, she was fully aware that she needed to reach out to others like her to create a world they believed in. Or at the very least just shake the current state of the world enough to let the trash fall through and over the edge. The end is nigh. The time was now.

Tsubasa's eyes followed her slowing everything down from its previous speed. So the fact was she did have strings on them and the attack wasn't done yet. She had placed something in the coffin, it looked like some sort of device. If he were to limit down the possible outcomes it seemed likely that she had made a method of transporting things. Options were limited and if he wasn't careful his Susanoo would be broken before it began. In terms of her attack, that reishi like blades continued their movement. Perhaps the best way to stop them would be a simple kido. Danku would suffice and he'd hide it within the Kyokko. So when they came to him along with the sphere. The danku would absorb the blow of the one as he took notice of her strategy. He'd not had this interesting of a foe in some time. Perhaps the last one to fascinate Tsubasa so was Poliro. But that young one lacked the brain this one had. Indeed it was a waste for her to be with the Vandenreich. As those reishi blades slammed into the invisible wall. He'd made it large enough to buy him some time to escape the entire blast. Perhaps she'd earned something a bit more potent now, as he activated his shunko finally. Small sparks darted around the area around him as a lightning based one became obvious. But she likely didn't get to see that for long as Tsubasa's speed increased. He channeled energy through his body and used a Shukuchi based step again. This method was considered much faster than your average flash step. What truly helped him see everything was Tenjin, something he gained after training his focus to a point. He could slow things down and see them come at slower speeds. This didn't affect their overall speed, but it did increase his reaction time. Phantom Tech such as Izanagi and Susanoo only made him more fierce truly. Avoiding her attack wasn't the hard part it was going to be what came next. Tsubasa could have tested her with something harder like Black coffin with a full chant. But something caught his attention almost instantly.

Foreign energy on his being had been marked in. Judging by the feeling and the shape, he'd guess it was an A. this indicated she had a unique skill to mark her enemies. Letters like this indicated she would spell a word and he'd be given a time limit. This meant the battle needed to step up its pace and so too did the Unabara. It was an interesting technique, so it relied on them taking their time. He guessed most enemies were too stupid to notice it. Most beings wouldn't mark the A as much to worry about. But A spelled many words and could be a problem. This also seemed to indicate a link between the two. Meaning he had only one potential option for him. To attack her relentlessly till she either removed it. Or she surrendered at this point, it seemed like he had little choice. Slow drawn out battles weren't Mana's thing anyway. This would indicate it was time to begin using Fujin. This was his top speed and including his, Shunko would elevate him to speeds almost impossible to follow. She'd brought his more serious nature out, though he'd not released. She had managed to make Tsubasa begin playing for keeps. That was something worthy of respect and much more. The likely options he could take or attempt at this point were high. As he used Fuijin to move his location now to behind her again. But the speed was far different from his earlier flash steps. Or any previous movements. It was indeed able to be indicated he was moving at extremely fast speeds. The fact was though she had managed to graze him with her previous attack. A couple things had caught him off guard entirely. But only just as he'd been slightly nicked by the Black Coffin during his escape. That was a strange thing to be on the other side of his own kido. But it was fascinating enough, the electricity she'd sent didn't work. The static explosion didn't work on him, he was basically immune to that element. It was a benefit of being so intuned with the electricity itself. The explosion from the rest, however, couldn't be avoided entirely. The Spinning Disk and black Coffin blades couldn't be absorbed like the static. The only thing damaged was his left arm's Susanno due to the speed he'd displayed.

The next thing that came to mind was this letter business as he moved at a rapid speed. She'd broken the hand portion of his Susanoo with that attack. Danku and Tenjin kept him from getting completely struck by it. Not to mention using Fujin to move behind her at high speeds. That was the thing that struck him most as strange at the moment. Having his left arms defenses breached did indicate a design flaw. Perhaps he'd discuss it with her over some tea and toast later. He'd appeared behind her as previously indicated. His sword raised and brought down releasing a massive slash. This would be similar to Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho technique. That so many had seen previously, the blast of his raw energy combined with Shunko. The attack would go on for some time even creating a massive blast crater in the ground. The shape of a blade was clear as Tsubasa's hand had sent out a massive Hachiman blast at her. While using his Shunko from point blank behind the female. He wasn't done with this however, this indicated he was done warming up now. It was time for her to face a rapid-fire enchant and kido blast right after. Calculating where she'd go or land he used a flash step moving again rapidly. His movement and speed were impressive if not insane. Most couldn't really calculate his speeds as he was known for it. In the Gotei it had been indicated he was the fastest among them. But that was before the exile, now few there would match what was. Tsubasa's next move was going to be a quick set almost a rapid incantation blast of kidos. First, he'd start with Bakudo to prepare her for something impressive. He didn't know how much damage she took from the slash attack. She'd forced the Pale Rider to begin truly trying and damaged his left arm's defenses. Had he not had shunko active and the speed he did. She'd proven herself dangerous and when Mana saw these things. That demon would often times go on the offensive, so it was time for him to do similar. Spells were what that evil which was known for. So it was time to lay some down on her the moment she landed.

Muttering several things he first set up his first spell. Rikujōkōrō Bakudo 61 was the first one he'd perform. But it wasn't done by far as the next spell on the list was Kuyō Shibari or otherwise known as Bakudo 79. So far the bindings were looking good and he thought one more would be useful before getting this over with. There was the charming number of life after all and she'd shown her technique previously. Tsubasa had a personal kido he'd designed himself for this situation. Binding Tigers was the name of the kido he created for this situation. Out of the ground and air, the emerged sinking fangs into the arms and legs of Sofia. Now it was time for the last kido spell of his serious marriage on the female. After that, it would be time to lay the groundwork for a defensive set up. He wasn't sure if this would be enough as he began the chant. "Seeping crest of turbidity. Arrogant vessel of lunacy! Boil forth and deny! Grow numb and flicker! Disrupt sleep! Crawling queen of iron! Eternally self-destructing doll of mud! Unite! Repulse! Fill with soil and know your own powerlessness!"

Like that the sky darkened as multiple boxes appeared and multiplied around her body. Closing her into the Black Coffin with its full incantation. Tsubasa had learned it mostly due to it being his favorite kido. Sadly no rest for the wicked with this girl as he prepared another Kyokko quickly and hid a Tiger mirror within it. Kido wise he was almost done but something told him. This girl had multiple and several ways of handling things. It wasn't going to be an easy outcome regardless of him. He'd used several spells now and set up a massive attack. This wasn't going to be an easy battle in the slightest. If she'd managed through his assault and did something. He'd need to be ready to go further perhaps with her. She was strong and this may have required him to prepare an even larger kido.

That spell, however, was a strange one and it required time to prepare himself. Perhaps he'd use it as a last resort against her. Hadō 99 was a dangerous spell even with the barriers in place. Truth be told it was the first time in a long time. Someone made him serious, he couldn't remember the last time a person like her came along. "Talk comes later..actions come first."Tsubasa had begun the stage and set it up for them to truly behold his skills. He didn't know if he should go further so he began preparing his defenses. He could take himself a bit further if need be. But at this point, it was time to evaluate how she did. She likely escaped it if he was guessing at her skills. A couple options did seem possible, but had she gotten rid of the tigers? That was the main question that lingered in his mind at the moment. But perhaps that was for the best. After all, this was her chance to see what fighting one of them was like. When the gloves came off entirely it would be a different show.

26 - Pale Preparation Sofia vs Tsubasa 6EdIfMt

The Melody

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

The battle was shaping up to be the strongest and most difficult encounter she ever had. Nevermind the encounter with Neovetta’s Goliath Shell or even with the former emperor of the Quincy, Ghislain. This battle had already pushed her to do much more, and a lot sooner than she ever had to. In fact, Sofia found it hard to believe that there were many whose power could exceed Tsubasa’s. If she had to wonder, the only names that popped in her mind were that of Mana, Kin, Shadin, and likely the abomination that called herself a Quincy, Nozomi. They were rare and far between. The fact that the girl had been able to hold on for as long as she had was remarkable even to her. However, she still maintained the same disposition of being proud but never satisfied. She still had a couple aces under her sleeve, and she was delaying using her release as much as she could. Despite the great surge of power it provided her, she wanted to see how far she could push the man before push truly came to shove.

The five seele had been stopped by some kind of invisible wall, though it wasn’t invisible much longer. Right after it, at extremely fast speeds, Engelscheibe had literally carved and cut through the defense of the kido, like a hot knife through butter. That was its purpose and inherent nature after all. That’s when she noticed. There was an odd but interesting arrangement of energy particles that hid the technique. The Quincy prodigy didn’t know what they were, but she understood the rearrangement well enough to notice it should it been used again. In the end, though she excelled at a number of things, the famous musician was known for possessing so much control over reishi and reiryoku that it overshadowed all save for Ghislain, for now. As she saw, the blades would fall before she scattered them out and impaled them into different locations on the field. As for the rest of the attacks, Tsubasa had managed to avoid most of them, though he did seem to get him by some. The great explosion as spikes had seemingly torn off what looked like an arm, but it wasn’t his. Instead it seemed as though it was a form of defense, not very different from Blut. The attack had been made strong enough to literally rip through it. And what’s more, the spikes had even managed to nick his body where the armor once was. She was content. To be able to claim she had truly hurt Tsubasa, the former Captain Commander. Granted he wasn’t all that hurt just yet, but everything was done in moderation and with patience. More importantly however, if he he didn’t mind the spinning saw disk right away, it would likely sliced with ease through the now unprotected arm of his.

There was more however, the man had received some kind of huge power up. Electricity had coursed through his body, and he seemed a lot stronger and a lot faster than he originally was. Sofia wasn’t particularly familiar with the technique other than the reading material she had on Yoruichi. A technique that allowed kido to be ran through the body to enhance attributes and aid in combat. It seemed like a very complex technique. And she did wonder whether she could create something similar for herself with reishi one day. Granted, not being one to lean towards hand to hand combat, her application would have likely surrendered the other attributes for a more massive increase in energy and speed.

In the blink of an eye, the Shinigami would be behind her. She had seen him coming; she was still extremely fast herself. However, she wasn’t fast enough to react as she would’ve liked. The speeds this man possessed currently were far beyond anything she ever seen or had even heard of. It was clear that even now, Tsubasa was much faster than Ghislain could’ve been currently in any of his release forms. As for her, the girl had no way of matching up to his speeds just yet. She knew she could stand to toe with him and even outspeed him currently if she were to release, but she had decided against him. The shinigami still had plenty of releases to enhance himself. And more importantly, Sofia still had a few things she could throw at him to even out the playing field.

With the man behind her performing a powerful slash, she could feel a sudden buildup of rather deadly energy. She needed to do something fast or she’d die in the process. Unfortunately, she couldn’t use her onyx sphere just yet. He was strong, and it took a lot to absorb and send back his attack; she simply needed more time before being used. Time was the one thing she didn’t have however so she acted in the way she thought wisest, even if time made the constraints a bit difficult to focus on. She had thought of using multiple defenses all at once, but that would just be delaying the inevitable. Each defense would cave down against his might, and all they could do was lessen the damage she would receive. The side of her arm was already nicked, she needed to be careful if she wanted to stay alive. Then, an idea hit her.

Without much time or space, Sofia simply angled her blade, Rona, back at him, and fired a small drop of water at him. The drop was likely just about two inches in diameter at most. In between both of their colossal energies and the attacks he had just made, it would be impractical to believe he could see it. After all, even if by some divine miracle he actually did, it would look no different than the sweat that glistened from their bodies. And he couldn’t even attest to its presence by energy alone, as Sofia was so close to him to drown everything around her in energy. In essence, there was nothing out the ordinary. Before her and away from his sight, the Quincy had pressed the button on a red sphere. As it stood, the getsuga tenshou like blast would hit her. It would hit her hard and send her crashing down. Likewise however, the drop of water would hit Tsubasa. There was no ifs or buts. Given the speed of both his and her attacks, and the fact that they were quite literally on point blank to each other ensured it. She couldn’t be hit if he hadn’t, and she couldn’t avoid it if he didn’t. No sort of magic or make belief would change that. However, what Tsubasa would find interesting was that the drop of water would not hit him and break down as water would. The drop would hit him with such an unyielding power and might he certainly would not be able to believe. Despite its diminutive size, the water drop should have been able to easily pierce through his body and his defenses, and create a wound that was so disparagingly large that it didn’t seem possible t have been created by it. In fact, her attack felt as powerful as if she had been one of the strongest beings alive, using massive amounts of energy on top of shunko to power the attack. If it looked like it its because it was. Down towards the ground, Sofia seemed unscathed and without damage. The ginto sphere vermillion had managed to swap attributes on the attacks. It had actually swapped their power. That meant that Sofia had gotten hit with the power of a water drop, and Tsubasa would have been the delivered the unyielding might of a powerful technique made by a being that outclassed most, made only more difficult to survive, let alone avoid, given his massive energy and benefits due to shunko. And he simply couldn’t go far enough beyond his limits to avoid or stop the technique, since his own limits were high enough to make it just impossible to rise up enough to make a difference. He’d have had to go higher than Mana and that simply wasn’t right.

”As you can see, I do have my own share of tricks.”

[OOC: I’m choosing to do away with one (the first) of his bakudo to account for the unexpected hassle of the above. If there are any issues, please talk to me]

On her location, the girl saw what looked like plenty of black holes appear around her person, likely a binding kido of sorts he had managed to send off. She did however found it difficult to move at all, her hands pinned down holding only her blade Rona, and a sphere. Right away, she saw what appeared like tiger fangs rise up from below at her. Right as the first kido has been used however, the girl had pressed the button on her sphere, creating a large blinding light that instantly went gray, and then black all at once. Beyond obscuring sight, an extremely large snake, easily reaching up to a length of meters had been summoned onto the field, taking an obviously large amount of space. Without second thought, it ate her. The snake had literally opened its mouth and swallowed Sofia whole, kido and all. Subsequently, the tiger fangs would clamp down on an area of the basilisk’s body. Luckily for it, it was large enough to be restricted to a small area. The fangs did create a very obvious amount of damage but the hold was not lasting at all. From the blood that spewed out from the snake, it seemed as though it corroded and ate away at the kido.

26 - Pale Preparation Sofia vs Tsubasa NTKvw0E

Sofia had the unique skill to communicate with her basilisk Nagini without the need of verbal commands. And as such, the snake had launched itself at Tsubasa, or what remained of him after likely being hit by his own extremely powerful technique in the form of a water drop. To her surprise however, the man had used the same black coffin kido as before, but this time used its lengthy incantation. There was no doubt that it would likely be much more powerful than it had been before, and she couldn’t stay put to find out. To be strong usually meant sacrifices, and Sofia knew that well. Just as the darkness began to surround the basilisk, Nagini would spit Sofia out, almost 20 or 30 meters away from the location of the attack. Looking back, she’d see the black coffin being done as it impaled Nagini from almost every angle. Once it dissipated, a defeated Nagini laid there, almost lifeless. Despite its own ability to regenerate by spitting itself out of its snake body, the damage had been too much, and it simply needed to be called back. As for Sofia, as soon as the sticky fluids from Nagini dried from her body, one could see that she was in top form. The scratches, cuts and bruises she had received were gone. She looked as ready and hyped up in both physical terms and stamina as she had been at the very start of the fight. It was like starting from scratch, though she knew better.

On her own location, far from him, Sofia would create one of her reishi manipulation techniques where a large Quincy pentacle was created right above Tsubasa's main energy signature. Speed would not help him there as the attack was projected to be on his signature at all times. The pentacle would instantly break down as silvery white Quincy blades would drop on him. Rather than cutting through him however, they had the effect of wrapping around him in a rather prehensile and rubbery nature. He could try to stay still or try his best to overpower the binding. But if he did, he would be in for a lot more trouble.

”Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger.”

Sofia had no remorse about using the technique. In fact, though she had practiced it a lot, the girl had never used the technique in anyone ever. Not only was it her strongest reishi technique, but it was arguably the strongest technique known to Quincy; very few of them. It was the best of the best. But seeing as he had repeatedly used some of the highest kido on her, she felt no mercy or remorse in doing so. Things did not look well for the shinigami. If he stood still after being bound, he would be hit by her attack. But if he tried to use a technique on it or fight the binding in any way, it would only seal his fate against the attack even more so. Upon creating it, the area round him was littered in structures of white light, with several roman numerals from I to X drawn on the outside. Each of the hulking columns and structures of white reishi were easily above 20 meters each. Right away, the energy exploded into such a powerful and cataclysmic detonation that one would wonder whether it would break and shatter the earth in two. Right after the catastrophic explosion however, she’d see that from the ten roman numerals, six had disappeared. They had been the unfortunate sacrifice needed to carry on its secondary effect. As it stood, even with his own mighty amounts of energy, Tsubasa would be locked in place for an additional four posts. If he were to release into shikai, perhaps it would be cut into three, and had he gone into bankai, it could be cut to two. The man could still talk and think, but he couldn’t motion or move a muscle. It was to be expected from the most powerful reishi and reiryoku technique the Quincy had ever devised. It was a guarded secret not known to most, not even Quincy. After all, Sofia had encountered it only after pillaging through several old secrets from her family. In the long line of the Montero, she had been the only one among them with the necessary skill and energy to master it.

Despite it all, the Quincy prodigy was far from done. She meant to not just push the battle in her favor, she was in it to win it. In one hand, she pressed the button of a sphere, causing a dark and ominous light to shade forth. From it, a hulking sea beast of at least 40 meters in diameter had been summoned onto the field with Sofia standing on top of it. Basatan had finally been called into the field, and it could only mean that the girl was willing to give it her all. There was just so much she could throw out before she was forced into her release state, but she intended to give him hell for all she could before it. Regardless, from the words spoken during that time that transpired, the letters A] and [i]K would be inscribed on Sofia’s midsection, while the letter T was inscribed on Tsubasa’s back.

Her stages of planning were flawless, she could be an excellent addition to his structure. Tsubasa didn't plan on asking either. She was able to react and plan as things were set up in advance. She had ever move calculated and ready. But perhaps one thing she did misunderstand about those on his par. This wasn't his full power even by a small amount. This was him trying to harm her and defeat her quickly. But had this been a match between those others? Mana and him it would have been a map-changing event with no amount of barriers helping. She was certainly an interesting being and worthy of being one of the four. Four people were needed to build this army and begin the conquest of Shadow Fall. Tsubasa's goals did seem to align with hers. Her actions and use had prevented one Bakudo, she even used her large serpent as a decoy. Every move was brilliant and well calculated. She was perfect in every regard truly beyond compare to his previous endeavors. The Unabara as a Clan was ultimately a failure. They couldn't produce and bring down the Shadow Fall legions. He was tired of bending over and attempting to make the system work. So many people claimed they needed no aid. Or perhaps their system was fine. The Vanguard came to mind in this pondering. They'd allowed Shadow Fall to win, even Yuudeshi was having difficulties. So many problems and issues were flowing for them. What was the point in trying to make them succeed? No at this point Shadow Fall held the advantage and something new needed to be born. Tsubasa believed Four powerful individuals could make a difference. But those four needed something to lead them into a battle. A Commander, he couldn't be the among the four this time. He watched her carefully deciding his next move. She let the creature fall prey to his move. It was only after he noticed the trap had been set for him. It was a rather dangerous one as well, she'd managed to trap him in something. The coming blast would do severe damage as well if he wasn't careful.

He had no choice but to execute an extremely rare bakudo. One he never truly got the chance to execute. Millón Escudo was the name and it was a favorite of someone the world didn't care for. It was an ideal kido for this situation as it remained hidden. Till it was struck but he also prepared a couple different things. El Escudo was changed to guard around his body as he prepared himself for the attack. Shunko's air was changed to protect his body but something else was done. Slowly he made sure to prepare for that blast that was coming and did something she earned. His Shikai's release finally was time for it to be freed from its shackles. Tsubasa intended to make the Four Horsemen loyal to only one master. Himself and she was a suitable candidate, not one he'd let escape. But he'd get results one way or another was the explosion came. Had he not released his full power like he had. It would have been Had it not been for Millon Escude it would have been a tricky road ahead.

That water drop contained his own attack back at him. Thankfully it diverted it away and protected him. But nothing prepared him for her next attack. Had he not activated Shiki and a full body version of El escudo it would have been bad. But it was bad as his almost blut or second armor had been completely destroyed. Not to mention he'd taken some damage. She'd certainly done her part to make things interesting for him. He couldn't really say without any essence that this was easy. As the binding was attempted he had it absorbed by his Tiger's Mirror. He'd made the choice to take the blast onto his body. His gaze was frightening as his Shikai remained active. His speed now up to Mach six with him focusing on that now. His breath softly exhaled as he vanished now. It was in an instant as he appeared behind her. His sword was magnetically held in her throat. By his magnetic powers as he'd surged almost like a powerful thing. A hand cupped her breast and one ran along her lower body. Inserting a finger in both holes for a moment before relinquishing them.

So her seal had been broken on her front hole, but the back did remain fresh. " 36DD, is what I had to hold of..among other things." His gaze was different from a hunger seemed to be there like a beast. He was on the prowl now as metal spikes shot from the ground around her to impale her legs. Tsubasa wasn't going to let her keep moving freely without any form of giving away. His zanpakuto returned to his hand as he left her and he moved fast making a slash. Cutting ax into her stomach and chest. Before he began moving at an extremely fast speed again using Fujin to fight her. The feeling of his energy surging through his veins as One for All activated. Electrons began regenerating his damaged body as he'd activated All for One. Tsubasa's muscles felt stronger among other things. His sword swings were faster and traveling so quick she'd perhaps not even see them currently. The blur of movement as he still used a single blade.

Cutting into her torso and activating the first phase of his power was the difficult part. Tsubasa didn't know how she'd react to him traveling at this massive increase in speed. Tsubasa's body coursed with electrons fueling his body and enhancing physical movement. Top that off with the combined skill and mastery of his Hoho and Speed. Tsubasa became a terror that could be almost anywhere. His digits gripped his second blade making a motion to draw it and cut the female again. He'd sent one thousand cuts at her in mere seconds. This was the degree of the warrior she was facing. If she wasn't careful she'd lose many things and require medical attention. But what was most dangerous about these slices. Was each one was lined with electric energy as small metal rods began appearing in the ground. Generating them as they shot for her legs. Tsubasa's Shikai allowed him to create metal and use it in such ways. But this was only the beginning, after all, he'd finally stopped using kido.

Or at least some kido now as his body had scratches and cuts on it from the blast. Even his clothing was tattered in several places. Sadly the blast from before exceeded his mirror's skill to absorb. But there was a benefit about absorbing a binding based energy. He could send it back to her in his version later. For now, he waited for the right moment to do so. As he shot backward around twenty meters from her and him railgun the rods formed in the ground at her. Shooting around two hundred of them at the girl instantly. After this he could truly begin his assault as his free hand gripped the wakizashi he slipped into form four of the Unabara's swordplay. He decided it was about time he began attacking her. His form began moving around constantly no longer remaining still. Tsubasa was no a moving target always and going at Mach sixty it was a hard man to track in this situation. She was the first person to wound him in such a way in some time.

He'd taken abuse and bettings before of course, that was an everyday thing. But to injure him so with her energy control. She was something akin to a demon. No, she was death incarnate and the perfect one to take the Pale Throne. Tsubasa would build something and this girl would be the centerpiece. She was going to be something truly magnificent to behold when the time came. But now Tsubasa no longer held still for her or let her pick the fighting time. He was moving and pulsing around and shooting metal at her. He was deciding how to react to her movement. The speed and swiftness of which he used his blade and the discharge coming off it. The previous one would have seemed like a bee sting compared to this. This energy surged and caused pain through the nervous system. And did damage internally among other things, had he not been so careful. She'd of likely defeated him and taken him to the cleaners more than one. Tsubasa had truly found the perfect Queen of the Pale. She was a woman fitting of that Pale Throne he intended to craft.

The constant motion was going to be the key now to fighting her. Railgun and such were going to be tools but something else was. Around her current location, he decided to cause the rods to generate more and more. Tsubasa could control and bend metal to his will with relative ease. Making this entire place a land mind for his next technique he had in mind. The skies began to grow cloudy around them as storms began to brew from his presence. He was causing an effect on the weather due to his Shikai. Though this was fought for what he intended to do for his next trick. He was going to need her to be ready for it. But for now, a constant motion was the key. As metal like rods began forming on the ground and appearing. He was creating them in these locations for a reason. But that reason wasn't clear yet, he was creating a massive area. The question was, what would come of this situation. Blood trickled down his arms and body in several locations. Healing was beginning but it would take time to recover from this.

She, after all, had done good damage to the former Commander of the Gotei. This was an only suitable situation that would come from the Pale King before him. She was no Queen that bowed before just any man, but someday she would bow before. No mistake on that would be made as he would bend her and break her to his will.

The Melody

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

As time passed, the girl became more and more involved with the battle. Despite both successes and defeats, she continued her planning nonstop. Even now, she was already well over twenty steps ahead of herself. The ingenious and artistic mind of the Quincy was such that her hard work had clearly paid off. The girl was certainly being pushed herself. Sofia had to resort that rather creative and quick strategies, and she had been made to use techniques and combinations she hadn’t used on anyone ever for fear of their life. But Tsubasa wasn’t just anyone. He was a former Captain Commander, and a being with a power that though still ways from Mana, stood closest in terms of potential than anyone she ever met. It created a new goal for her to surpass him, and eventually meet her goal of bringing down the blade of judgment on the demon kind.

The aftermath of the result did indeed surprise her. Tsubasa had been met with a drop of water that was as strong as his getsuga tensho like slash attack. He was also met against a truly powerful binding technique, and that wasn’t it. He was hit by the strongest Quincy technique ever made, which possessed an even more powerful binding afterwards. She knew he was strong, but not even Mana herself would be able to shrug off a successful attack without considerable amounts of damage; and it showed. The girl wasn’t too surprised he was alive, but she was certainly surprised he was still standing. It became obvious he had used a number of kido to defend himself, on top of other specialty techniques the nature of which were as of yet unknown to her. But in the end, the result had been one she had expected. When everything cleared up, it was obvious Tsubasa was not in good shape. There was blood trickling down his limbs, and plain and simple he looked as though he had gotten run over by something mighty, and he had. It was a miracle he was alive, let alone still being able to move. If anything he should have been thankful to whichever god he believed in that all he had managed to get was a fair amount of wounds of different calibers throughout his body.

Of course, it had not come easy for Sofia either. Not only did it cause a lot of strain but she had to sacrifice one of her best techniques, Nagini, in order to heal herself and avoid the attacks that had been cast her way. She simply would not have been able to avoid them otherwise. It was nonetheless a heavy blow since Nagini was meant to stay in the fight for considerably lengthy amounts of time, and that put it out of commission right away. For the time being however, Sofia stood still and ready to fight, this time on top of the gigantic Basatan. Watching the Shinigami come at her, it was obvious something had changed. Had he already gone into his Shikai? The extreme change in speed and power were enough to answer the question for her. Tsubasa was already faster than anyone she had met, but he had proven himself powerful enough to go even further. If the trend continued, she wouldn’t be able to make a stand, even if she released all the way.

In the blink of an eye, he was before her and doing something rather lewd and inappropriate. His speed had allowed him to come up close and grope… her? What?.. you bitch. He had made some comment in regards to her breast size or perhaps about the intimate nature of the place he had felt, but Sofia would have none of it. Even with his speed, he wouldn’t have time to see that slash come to fruition. Perhaps he thought Basatan was just a toy, or that he was there for show, but that wasn’t the case. As soon as she willed it, Basatan would have created an extremely powerful ball of water that fired out and away with unyielding might. In fact, the water traveled fast enough to even surpass Sofia’s current speed. If that wasn’t enough, Basatan seemed to borrow the Quincy’s skill to control the Melody to both change the course, and slightly enhance the speed of the attack. The result would have translated into a powerful wave of dense water that washed the Shinigami away.

One had to take into consideration that it wasn’t just a large water attack. Basatan was a behemoth large enough to overshadow extremely large buildings. The attack he made was equally gigantic in comparison. As for Sofia, she aided his effort both with extensive amounts of water beams firing off from her Rona blade, and enhancing their integrity with the Melody. It wouldn’t take long but the area below them had already started to change. Quickly everything had become submerged in water, almost as if they had been fighting on top of a river that was about to become an ocean. After all, in between Basatan and Sofia, the two created such vast amounts of water to completely fill out the area. Sofia did take notice of the plethora of metal looking structures rising up from the ground though. Some were covered up by the water, and some rose higher than the water could reach just yet. It was only a hunch, but seeing as Tsubasa had shown to be capable of creating and controlling the elements he had used thus far, it made sense to assume he could control metal to some extent. For sure she’d avoid using any techniques that specifically relied on it. Unfortunately that left one of her regalia’s best techniques out of the picture, but it was a price worth paying.

The water wasn’t ordinary water however. It was much denser and completely filled with Sofia’s energy signal. In a way, she could use her mastership and dominion over energy to feel movements in the water as if she was there watching it transpire. And while that did nothing for the combat efforts where she stood, at the very least she would be granted some form of comfort at being able to react more readily to attacks coming from the water.

”You’re a pervert, and I’m going to kick your ass.”

She meant it. Little did he know however that when she meant to say ass, she meant him completely. She was going to kick him all at once… Jumping to the side of Basatan, the Quincy prodigy would press a button on the surface of her Quincy cross. All of a sudden, the girl started to grow, and grow, and didn’t quite stop until she reached a height that looked to be of about 70 meters. She had enhanced herself to be almost twice the size of her already gigantic sea companion. As soon as Sofia had done this however, Basatan would quickly sink into the now deep water, where he hid until he was required to act. As for the giant Quincy girl, all of her had grown in perfect ratio. That meant her head, her limbs, her clothes, and even her weapons had grown to be as exponentially larger as the ratio of her increase in size. So this is how she saw us…

The girl couldn’t help but recalling one of her first toughest battles against Neovetta’s Goliath Shell. The doll as some called it was a behemoth that brought destruction and death to everything around her. She didn’t like to admit it but there was merit and power in her form, and it was what made her seek out Dr. Hebi for help in engineering the device. It was from that experience that the girl became more enthusiastic about her own creations. It was from that device that she obtained the necessary technology to begin creating her own line of Ginto spheres later on. Everything could be traced back to that. Of course, the change didn’t mean that Sofia was any faster or that her attacks were any stronger. She still kept the same attributes as before. The only difference was her size and that of her weapons, as well as the size of the attacks she could create. Calling her Rona blade back into the ring form on her hand, a single modified seele would fly into her hand thanks to the melodic effects of her ability. Right away, she created a large Quincy bow and fired the seele at her opponent. He needed to take into consideration that the seele was huge. The seele was easily over 20 meters in length and extremely wide. Sure it still held the same destructive power it would otherwise, but the speed and the size it held made the whole area shudder as it traveled. The water would splash, whatever rocky formations remained were stripped of their top as they crumbled under the pressure of the attack. From below, Basatan had jumped out of the water and spun uncontrollably in his direction while spewing powerful streams of water. The motion made him seem like a water tornado of sorts or a gigantic saw. Trying to touch him or stop him would be ill advised as well, as given the rough exterior of its shell and the speed and momentum he maintained, it could only mean bad news.

On the other side, Sofia had rearranged the look of her bow into that of her iconic geigenbogen, the holy violin bow. This time, it took the form of a blade as it was meant to be used as such. And rushing as fast as she could towards Tsubasa, she hoped to close him out of an escape. From either side, two behemoths trailed to get at him. And simply running up to the side or in an alternate direction would yield little to no good as their size allowed them to cover enough space. And given that Basatan shared the same energy signal as Sofia, the two could communicate through the mind just as Nagini could, ensuring that an unwanted collision was avoided. In time, the woman would have swung her sword and released a powerful blast of condensed reishi into an arch, not unlike the attack Tsubasa had fired earlier. Unlike his however, given her size, the attack created an arch that spawned easily over 100 meters, even if its power did not change from what it could’ve been at a normal size. Nonetheless, it meant that it was simply very difficult to avoid, even if the results wouldn’t yield as powerful of an impact as her last techniques had.

”Bet you weren’t expecting all of this, were you?”

The girl needed to keep up the act but she knew she was running out options. Especially against Tsubasa in his Shikai, she knew she had a few more moments before she’d have to resort to her release. There was just so much she could do without it, and she couldn’t keep running without losing her life. It didn’t matter whether Tsubasa had managed to block or dodge her attacks in some ways. Sofia would continue to push him against the edge, and when he finally took on the dominant role, she would have likely come out of her giant form and gone into her release; but not yet. Still, she was baffled as much by his power as by some of his behavior. To come out and touch her like that. The nerve. It occurred to her that she hadn’t asked what he wanted from the get go, but it didn’t matter. She knew she was better off not asking. She knew that what she needed to focus on was to continuously keep pushing the envelope and exerting herself to her limits to keep rushing him in an attempt to make a mistake. The battle had drawn out, but the fun had barely begun. Throughout the course of their dialogue, the letters U and B were inscribed on her midsection, while the letter D was inscribed on his back.
