Descend Into Darkness

The Darkness Is A Little Bit Poetic...Isn't It? [PRIVATE/Sofia] 6EdIfMt

The murmuring of the summer grass
All that is left
Of the warrior's dream

-Unknown

Twas a dark and dreary night, where the moon's light shined bright in the black night that had enveloped the world. In the eyes of humanity, it was a usual night. Where many slept in the comfort of their beds, and kids believing they were safe from the monsters under their beds. But yet, monsters don't sleep under the bed. They scream inside your head. As the forced movement of the legs that seemed to be frozen in place continued, the sudden sound of a loud crunch of the leaves under his feet echoed throughout the empty forest.

The wind whipped and curled around his small frame, some of the fragments of the infinite substance that was the air slipping into his scarf and biting at his skin, earning shivers and gasps from the male, and his eye simply staring onward, towards a clearing that lay just mere meters ahead. As his eye blankly stared ahead, he felt more of the night's icy air slipping into his clothing, threatening to chill him to the bone if he did not find heat.

As his near frozen form collapsed under a tree, he felt the dreadful feelings he had not felt in so very long. Defeat. He felt broken. Beaten. Defeated. His head lowered, with his hands raising to his view, seeing the shaking that was occurring, even with gloves covering his hands, and keeping them even the slightest warm. Reaching his left arm outwards, he willed his energy to form into small orbs that lit up the night, before changing their shape to form multiple logs that would create the basis for an unlit campfire. Then, his twitching and trembling fingers bent backwards, leaving two outstretched.

Whispering the words for the thirty-first Hadō spell's incantation in a shaky, raspy voice, a red light ignited on the palm of the outstretched hand, before he bent his body forward, pressing the orb of spiritual fire against the logs that had been made of energy, before the orb fizzled out. Cursing himself quietly, he should have known that his inexperience in the magic of the souls would lead to something like this.

Allowing the logs to dissipate back into energy, and flow back into the sheath of his sword, he simply brought his hands to his arms, before slowly rubbing them for warmth. And, with the worst timing possible, his mind began to think. The thoughts that came from his mind were, strangely, quotes from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven". A poem that Henrex genuinely liked, for some reason, was generating thoughts that flowed into his head, and his lips moved seemingly on their own, whispering a random line from the poem.

"Till I scarcely more than muttered “Other friends have flown before—
On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said “Nevermore.”

Tilting his head to the side, Henrex soon simply brought his legs to his body, pulling as much heat as he could towards his body. It was quiet, dark, and overall...peaceful for the conflicted soul that had set foot in the forest of the Living Realm. The tattered scarf and clothing of the male fluttered in the wind as he waited for the time to pass on, and for the daylight to arrive.

THE QUINCY PRODIGY

Artist: Girl's Generation - Song: Party

Honestly, who in their right mind would ever find this comfortable?

Ever since she met the ancient and powerful Quincy named Gift, Sofia had been trying her best to understand him. He was certainly very different than most people of her race she had met. While not all tended to gravitate towards the natural calling of the Wandenreich, those that stayed away from their reach did so out of very specific and believable reasons. However, she couldn’t come to terms with or perhaps truly accept the reasons for his denial. It all had to do with trees, nature, and the securing and well being of the planet. She cared for such things of course, just as someone would care for a home as a means of living, or for a vehicle as a means of travel. Still, she could never see herself devoted with such an unyielding passion to the environment as he seemed. It had been a miracle she had managed to recruit him, but she was sent with that purpose from the start.

On an effort to understand him and get closer to uncovering the mysteries of his persona, the Quincy tried to live as he did. Spending her time in nature and living among the trees wasn’t all that difficult. It was hardly comfortable however. There was no T.V., no air conditioning, among many other necessary commodities. Finding her current place of residence would have been a difficult task. With help, she had set up a rather ornate and classy tree house. It looked less like a child’s playground, and more like a small and modest home that was built from wood to sit quite literally atop the trees that extended up and away. Within, there was little more than a couple chairs, a table, a few camping beds, and several baskets with food that would last a few days.

While she wasn’t presently trying to hide her spiritual energy completely, she did make a conscious and noticeable effort to downplay how much reishi seemed to gather around her. If she could help it, she would avoid a violent confrontation at all costs. Granted that wasn’t always possible, but she liked to believe spiritual beings would think twice before risking their life, and pissing her off in combat. She did however seem to catch a glimpse of a figure that exuded a fair amount of spiritual energy. He certainly looked strong enough to cause caution, though she didn’t find herself restless enough which only indicated he wasn’t quite as strong as her yet. Regardless, she had no motive to be hostile. While she had a suspicion he was a shinigami from the kind of energy she felt, she would have helped him regardless of his race. Perhaps if he was a Demon that would have been different, but alas, it was not the case. The individual looked to be alone, tired, and rather cold. If left to his own devices, chances were he would likely freeze to death or die of starvation, whichever came first.

From her tree house, she would have tossed a piece of bread that was aimed right at the guy. If left to its own devices, the bread would have likely hit him somewhere between his upper chest and his face. It shouldn’t have caused any injury but it could certainly have been startling, and hurt quite a bit. Assuming he was still unaware of her presence, it would take him a couple of seconds to figure out where she was. He would have had to purposely look up, and find the obvious tree house among a plethora of trees, in the middle of the night, in a forest that was pitch black for the most part. Right at the moment he had come to notice her, Sofia would twirl with obvious intent, wanting to appear graceful and majestic.

Despite the fabulous twirl, and the classy look she exuded, her words would be much less subtle and cold, akin to the temperature that night.
”Come with me, if you want to live.”

There was an obvious thick accent on her words. Her accent wasn’t quite Austrian, like the character in an old movie known for saying just that. She did however possess a rather thick spaniard accent, having been born and raised in Spain. Regardless, leaning over a rather rustic wooden balcony like frame, she would wave a couple of times, urging him to come up. She actually did have a lit fireplace where she was, despite the inherent danger of keeping fire so close to wood. The Quincy also possessed more food than the piece of bread she had tossed his way. Harm, though a very present and potential outcome, should have really been low on his list of worries. As, being away from sight, and seemingly a bit stronger, she could have striked to maim or kill from the start if it had been her plan all long.

The Broken Raven
Descend Into Darkness

The Darkness Is A Little Bit Poetic...Isn't It? [PRIVATE/Sofia] 6EdIfMt

| Artist: RED | Song: Hymn For The Missing | Word Count: 949 |

Cold. The word stuck to the mind of the Raven like glue, in response to the feeling that coursed through the nerves of the male. Bringing his body closer to itself, he found himself placing his head on his knees, staring at the grass in front of him that lead up to the lake that he sat in front of. Blinking twice with the same dull, melancholic eye that seemed to lazily move around, looking at his surroundings. As the cold continued to settle into his body, he quietly whispered a small phrase, before bending his body forward again, and tilting his head forward.

As a purple glow would appear on his pitch-black kimono, the back of the clothing would burst open, and two jet-black wings grew from his back, spreading out wide from their origin point, before gently curling around his body, shielding his body from most of the wind, and keeping his body, for the most part, hidden. As the feathery protrusions covered his body, his head seemed to lower itself even more, the wings of the male beginning to feel the bitter chill of the night's wind. Biting his lip as more of his body began to succumb to the numbing bite of the wind, he felt something tap against one of his wings.

As his body unknowingly released a wave of Za Koa energy to quickly cover the terrain around him, and gain knowledge of what was around him. As his energy scanned deeply into the surrounding, his mind was quickly informed of not only what had hit him, but where it had come from. A small piece of bread had impacted his wing, and was currently sitting next to him. The person who threw it? Currently standing on top of something in the same forest that he was in.

And, with the cliche line spoken, Henrex figured that he should...probably listen to the voice that was speaking to him. So, with a quick pull of his scarf, Henrex readjusted his scarf, with a little additive behind it. Slowly rising to his feet, the male spread his wings, before silently walking over to the piece of bread that had been discarded upon striking his wing. Gently wrapping his gloved fingers around the food item, and holding it to his chest, the male began to lift off the ground.

His body would float over to the wooden platform that Sofia would be, or was standing on. Hovering a few feet away from the wooden platform, Henrex would simply stare blankly at the female in front of him. If Sofia were to look into the eye of the male, she would see something very...odd. Instead of looking into his right eye, which was the only one revealed at the time, she would see a very glassy item that would seem to be in front of it, making it harder to see.

As he let out another small pulsation of his Za Koa energy, aiming to gain more information about the woman that currently stood in front of him. The results of it all? Well, to put it simply, the demon energy that Henrex had released in the form of a small, nigh undetectable pulsation wave would wrap around Sofia, scanning her energy signature, which would, in turn, identify what her race was. And the results that he received were...worrying, to say the least. It was a Quincy.

Now, wasn't that just his luck? A Hybrid of both the Shinigami and Demon, both of which that the Quincy hated, standing in front of a Quincy. And, with that Cyberbrain of his activating, and using the Cyber Eye Model 2000 that had recently been installed into his system, as well as multiple other add-ons, Henrex would use it's capabilities to scan multiple things about them. The visual that he was receiving would begin to clarify things about this woman. One of which was a yellow glow around her body, signaling that she was strong, but not on incredibly dangerous levels...yet.

All the while, his Stress Reader add-on would be scanning the movements of Sofia, in order to determine their emotional state, and be able to adjust accordingly, if things were to get...awkward. Or, even worse, if possible. But yet, none of these things were providing a calming sense towards the male. After all, he was standing in front of his race's enemy. Both of his races. So, with all of that, his gloved hands would be seen reaching for two things that lay in the confines of his kimono. Well, only one, actually. What was that one item?

As of looks, it would appear to be the hilt of a sword, but without a blade. But, it did have a blade. It just wasn't activated. Henrex didn't intend to activate the weapon, unless he had to. Where was his other hand headed? Well, that would be towards the weapon at his side, which looked like an actual weapon. A katana that lay dangling at his side, which was none other than the main weapon of the Shinigami: The Zanpakutō.

Henrex did not want to use these weapons. In fact, he wanted to keep combat and conflict down to a minimal. So, he decided to at least attempted to see if this person was friendly. But, his mind was still a little bit behind on what to do. So, as of that, the tongue of male would release to Sofia, a possible alien language.

"Onamaehanandesuka... ?"

The words originating from Japan left the lips of the male, and silence soon filled the air. However, soon realizing his mistake, the male covered from head to toe in black shook his head briefly, before managing to stutter out something.

"S...Sorry. I asked...for your name...?"

THE QUINCY PRODIGY

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A

The boy had a lot of guts. Either that or he was not smart; not very smart at all. From the start, Sofia wasn’t really trying to hide her energy all that well so assuming he had seen her location somehow, it shouldn’t have been difficult to find her. From the start however she could see a rather different form of energy being used. While she didn’t know the purpose or the workings of the energy, she could only assume it was his effort to locate the Quincy. From her past encounters however, there was no telling whether or not that was the only capability of the energy. And so, for her own sake, she would assume it could do much more. Despite being dark, and despite not being able to see the energy he employed, the way in which it pushed away the reishi around the environment made it an easy task to discern. Reishi in it of itself was a rather constant element up for the Quincy’s taking. Whenever an spiritual being made use of their techniques, the reishi in an area became agitated and rustled, thus allowing the Quincy proficient enough in the manipulation of their own energy to be able to make calculated and accurate assumptions about it.

Soon, the male would find himself eye to eye with the Quincy. It didn’t take long at all for Sofia to discover the nature of his origins. His reiraku or spirit ribbon looked like that of a Shinigami. Still, it was tainted by a form of energy that was undeniably Demonic. She had to admit it was truly a shame. As much as she disliked the Shinigami, the only thing worse than one of her kind was someone further tainted by the Demons. From her past encounters with truly despicable titans of their ranks, the prodigy had come to experience the might and the danger of the dark ones.

”You know, that’s very rude behavior for a guest.”

Right away, Sofia had felt the energy that had been sent all around her. How could she not? It interfered with the reishi coating that always surrounded her by nature of her power. Strangely enough, she had not opted to attack and attempt to slice his head clean off. At least initially, his attempts seemed less violent and more benign. But, at the earliest sign of further imprudence, she wouldn’t think twice about retaliating with an equal or even more powerful force. After all, she had called out to him when she shouldn’t have, and even offered him food when she didn’t have to. If she wanted to kill him, she could have. But to distrust and search around her like that? The boy was simply starting to give her all the reasons she needed to kill him right then and there.

As soon as the energy was used, and even before the Demonic Shinigami spoke, Sofia was already prepared. A weak and relatively quick flash of thin white light would emanate from her before dissipating altogether. There was no conceivable way to know exactly what she had done. After all, due to its color and its nature, even if one were to be proficiently accustomed to reishi, it would have seemed as nothing more than a subtle and hastened surge of spiritual pressure. That was far from the truth however. Instead, very thin rays of myriads of strings created thanks to her custom Ransotengai: Rengoku had been created before they became naturally invisible. It was unclear what they had attached to, assuming they even attached to anything at all. What was certain for anyone that truly knew the prodigy well, was that there was never a wasted movement or an action in vain. Whatever she had done had its merit, and its reason, and it would be up to the hybrid and his luck, or rather his misfortune to find out the results of insulting her further.

”I don’t know who you are. But I can only assume the Shinigami don’t have any manners either.”

She had purposely avoided any mention to the Demons. After all, in her mind, it was obvious that one couldn’t expect any kind of pleasantry from that kind. As far as she was concerned, the Demons were simply a disease that was very difficult to rid of. One day however, that illness was meant to be gone, hopefully removed by something not much worse than it.

”When asking for a name, child, it's best to present yours first.”

He wasn’t a child. That much she was almost certainly sure of. Frankly, there wasn’t many people, of any race, that had power along the lines of her while being stronger than her. Certainly there could be exceptions, but it was not the rule. It was one of the reasons why she was so often coined as being the Quincy prodigy. Whatever happened thereafter would be left onto results of the hybrid’s actions. He had gone and insulted her not only by searching her out when she didn’t mean harm initially, but also by ignoring clear and commonplace code of ethics. If he pressed on with his ignorance or insults any further, retaliation would be swift and deliberate just as if he had decided to press on violently. Otherwise, if his approach changed to merit respect and reconsideration, the attempts and calculated plans she had set up in case of an altercation would have been dismantled instead.

THE INSANE RAVEN

HENREX ASTILLON

| Artist: Natalie Wik | Song: Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of Screams) | Word Count: 742 |

The chilling wind that traveled across the skin of the male stuck and held it's freezing grasp on his body like snow that would never melt. The eye of the male blinked slowly, his senses and mind dulled from the numbing effects of the icy night wind. Silence hung in the air for what seemed like forever. He floated in the air, hanging by the two feathery protrusions that came from his back. The hands that had been heading for the two weapons at his sides slowly drifted back to their usual positions, and his eye simply stared at the female Quincy in front of him.

Fluctuations of the energy particles was evident, as the spiritual senses that was bound within his very soul reached out and brought the sensation of the particle's movements towards his attention, but did nothing to avert his attention from the woman who stood in front of him, seeming to pierce through him with her gaze. It wasn't exactly something that unsettled him, or made him very uncomfortable. Sure, it was a little weird, and the slightest bit creepy to him, having someone stare at him like this. But he had experienced things far worse than just some simple staring.

Then, the silence was broken, and Henrex felt two emotions trigger from his brain and flood into his system. Awkwardness, and shame. The strict voice of the woman, reprimanding his very poor behavior. Well, it wasn't entirely his own fault. His entire life, both as human, and as who he was now was, for him, mainly revolved around getting stronger and restoring what he had lost so many years ago. His mind had partially forgotten how to act, especially as a guest, and even MORE especially around women. So, the right hand of the male would find itself moving towards the left arm, gently rubbing the limb in embarrassment.

But then, a blast of white light flashed out from the Quincy, momentarily blinding him, and causing his eye to shut itself quickly, his arm moving upwards to wipe the sudden tears that began streaming down his eye and cheek from the sudden exposure of the sensitive item that was his eye, to the brilliant white light. But, the slight distraction was not enough for him to forget about the embarrassingly rude actions that he had performed. Lowering his head and refusing to meet her eyes with his single own, his lips moved underneath the scarf, muttering.

"Sorry....I'm...not good with people. It's...been a few hundred years since I last spoke with someone in...this way.

Gripping his arm tighter, the male would slowly cause his body to float over to where she was standing, and gently lowering his body to where she stood, and his boots gently tapped against the wood, and his arms staying at his side. His left arm could be seen as much more fidgety than the right, constantly squirming and moving in quick, but slight movements. Thinking of the right combination of words to speak, Henrex's mind fumbled. Wiping out certain phrases, and coming up with new ones, only to quickly do the same thing over and over.

Reprocessing what he had just heard, Henrex quickly formed together what he believed to be a good way to say this. So, he gently pulled the scarf on his face down, revealing his face. Hideous. A good word to describe the permanent disfigurement that had become of the left side of his face. Old, white scars littered the left side, mixing in with the ugly black that patched his face as well, the remnants of the thing that had burned him. Closing his eye, Henrex drew in a breath.

"I'm Henrex. .Henrex Astillon. I'm a Hybrid, but I'm pretty sure you know already. You...are a Quincy. What's your name?"

Quickly thinking of what to do next, Henrex slowly and shakily would stretch his arm out, keeping his fingers uncurled, and offered a simple handshake. turning his head to the southeast, his hand trembling by the slightest. Was he doing this right? It had been around six centuries, or even more since he had last formally introduced himself. He was hoping that he didn't screw this up. He didn't want this to go bad. The last thing he wanted or even needed was a fight. So, it would be up to the Quincy in front of him to judge his actions.

She currently played judge, jury, and executioner. It was up to her what the sentence would be.

The Dark Hero

Sofia Montero

Song: N/a STUFF - Artist: N/A STUFF - Words: N/A

Was he for real? For a moment, just as he spoke, Sofia couldn’t do much more than just stare. It was dark despite the dim lighting from the tree house they were in. She definitely had enough lighting to see him well, yet she squinted her eyes nonetheless. It didn’t stem out of a difficulty in seeing however, but rather in a difficulty and inability to accept as real what had been told to her just then.

”Oh just a few hundred years.” There was a soft, condescending smile as she said this. She even closed her eyes momentarily seeming quite soothing. The look would change rather quickly to a rather upset and vexing one. Real fast.

”A few hundred years??? Are you serious?? What kind of person even goes that long without talking? What are you, a nun? A tree?? Learn to speak to people and don’t be such a little quiet child, you! Niño!”

With a forceful smack, Sofia would try and hit him on the top of the head. It was nothing strong enough to break anything really. Despite her amazing power, she wasn’t the strongest one as far as physical might was concerned. Still, the hit should have been enough to either cause a lot of pain to most, or at the very most be annoying and irritating enough to be noticed rather easily. And she was actually holding herself back too. She wanted to jab him a couple of times, perhaps even punch him too. But although she kind of wanted to get her point across, doing so would simply verge on torture and abuse. She simply couldn’t understand how people could go so long without talking. Life was a wonderful experience and many treated it as if it was a burden. It was truly sad that some who wished for life could not attain the gift to truly live it, and those that had their life had the audacity to waste it and not enjoy it.

”Yea, that explains a bit. I’m Sofia, a Quincy.”

She wasn’t sure whether he still didn’t know of her nature. Clearly she wasn’t going to kill him, not quite yet anyways. He had not given her any reason to warrant such a thing. He did infuriate her earlier but that was well beyond the point. If he was a Shinigami, and a hybrid, she had a good guess the other energy she felt was that of a Demon. It kind of explained his look. It wasn’t until after she hit him that she saw the scars. Quite unfortunate really. While there were plenty of ways to heal such wounds, one would think he would have tried plenty already. It only spoke to the kind of atrocities he must have endured. But, on such day and age, those things were tame in comparison to what went on daily. She did have medicine she could hopefully help him with, but she simply assumed it would do no good.

”Come in and get a chair kid, I have more stuff to offer you.”

Food didn’t abound, but she had a few things. Right after shaking his hand, she would lead him to what looked like a wooden sofa of sorts. Farther away there seemed to be a different room to which she would head to in order to get things for him. As she walked, even on the darkness of the night, one would have, with ease, seen the way the dimness of the light accentuated the shape and the curves of her body, and how her blue uniform tugged nicely at them.

THE INSANE RAVEN

HENREX ASTILLON

Well, she didn't take that very well, did she?

He wasn't exactly lying when he said that. He hadn't really spoke to many people in a "formal" matter in a while. By that, he had meant that he hadn't really introduced himself to someone, and spoke with them. For him, he was always sort of afraid to speak to people, for fear that he woulds say something stupid, and get punched. Or slashed at. Or slapped. Or...really, any kind of bodily harm to him. Yes, it was pathetic, but after enough hits from Mirja, he learned to just keep his mouth shut. However, even before then, he was never very talkative. So, once again, talking in a formal manner was something that he wasn't entirely used to.

But, what came next was even more odd. A quick smack to the head. While it didn't have any sort of initial pain, there still was the aftereffects that came from it. A small throbbing in his skull, and the vibrations in his head. His hands rose to the spot where he was hit, and blinked multiple times before shaking his head, and sighing gently. It wasn't really something that surprising to him. He was just...not a social person. On most days, he'd spend his time locking himself in his room in the Soul Society, trying to cope with all of these strange thoughts and emotions that came to him from what he had gone through with Arianda Vael.

The male sighed as his shoulders slumped. Those days still continued. Although, nowadays, it was less of a defiance, and more of accepting the fact. He had to live like this now. However, his mind soon returned to reality. His sullen eye stared at the Quincy woman in front of him, sensing the violent, and angry aura that she emitted. It seemed that she wished to repeat the action that she had executed mere moments ago, but on a more...injuring scale. Another sigh, and his head lowered for a moment, before raising again, his hand gently drifting towards his weapon in response to this aggressive aura. But, she soon found a moment's peace, said her name and race, and asked him to come inside. Closing his eyes and nodding softly, the male did just that.

Eyes opening as his stepped inside, and gently moving around in the sockets to observe his new surroundings. Quickly taking in what was around him, and following Sofia to the wooden sofa, the boy quickly sat down, and his eye remained on her as she walked away, into another room. His mind soon became clouded, as he could see the tightness her uniform, as well as the Quincy's curves, causing the boy's cheeks, as well as the rest of his face to turn the color of red, and he furiously shook his head to get his mind off the subject, before taking a deep breath, and closing his eyes. She said that she had things that she would..."offer" him. It made him curious, but also wary. Opening his eyes once again, the male pulled out a container which...well, was just what it sounded like.

Tapping on a button on the storage unit, a blue user interface popped up, and his fingers skimmed the screen, before letting the UI fade away, and tucking the item back into his shihakusho. Everything was quiet once again. He wondered what she was offering him. He would just have to wait.

As she talked to the boy, she had to admit there was a certain feeling of uneasiness about the situation, albeit quite frankly, in the best of ways. While it was far too early to say with utmost certainty, there was potential in the young man. There was no telling what said potential would lead to or rather what it could manifest into, but alas, he seemed to have a lot in store for his future, if he played his cards right. That was in it of itself a lot to ponder about an otherwise stranger she had barely just met, and whose names and pleasantries they had just started to share.

”Hmm, I’m sorry.” She added while shaking her head and retrieving a basket full of what seemed to be fresh bread, fresh cheese, and even a bottle of mildly aged grape wine. It wasn’t all that often that Sofia had the chance to congregate with a Shinigami, even if this one was enough of an enigma of uniqueness as to allow him as to skirt the very definition of a Shinigami. Not like she was one to be able to lay fault on him however as her more recent encounters had left her though more balanced in her views of light and darkness, certainly more apt and accepting of darker and more violent methods to achieve a desired result.

The rest of the night should have ideally gone without hiccup. The two would have had enough food to be satisfied, and should he have chosen to stay the night, he would have had a place with a sort of roof to sleep under. Rustic as it was, the alternative to it was sleeping outside in the open, under the treacherous cold of the silent night. Regardless, early that morning, very early actually, Sofia would be nowhere to be found. Had he chosen to stay he would have awaken alone, and had he chosen to leave, he wouldn’t be able to find her at the same location or elsewhere for a very long time.

Nearly a Year Later

For the greater part of a year, the Quincy prodigy had placed herself in a form of self-imposed and isolated exile. It wasn’t specifically to keep her from an area or a country however, but rather to keep her away from all that she was. She had taken a temporary leave of absence from the Wandenreich and even from the missions and tasks she was dedicated to back then. In essence, there had been quite a lot of motivational and a lot of quite not so motivational encounters that had led her to rethink her place. From the all-out battle against the giant Goliath Shell, the powerhouse and bringer of destruction for the Demon Queen, to the seemingly righteous Hollow in Yaksha, Sofia had been through quite a lot. The encounter with the Shell and her motivation to push on and to fight for the demonic scourge had certainly left its mark on her. On top of that, an interesting encounter with the demon Arianda resulted in much more than shared pleasantries and pleasures of the flesh. From that fateful meeting, Sofia had received the Seal of Eris.

Fortunately for the Quincy, the way her mentality and disposition had been prior to that occurrence had likely been her saving grace. For unfortunate souls that met with a fate akin to hers, and whose convictions and viewpoints had them stray into the gray areas of justice, and even to those with some levels insidiousness and of malice, the Seal would have been devastating. After all, it has the peculiar ability to enhance the darkness and evil within that to whom it marked, among many less detrimental and more favorable aspects. As for Sofia, the way she had been before, a stalwart advocate for justice, devout to the Quincy cause and with a strong dislike of certain spiritual races likely became her safety net. Instead of succumbing to the effects of the Seal and being drowned, she was strong enough to make a stand, and her personality enough to be of noticeable effect. However, the effects were still obvious. And the result turned out to be a new and improved Sofia with a newfound understanding of the world around her. She had a balance she believed she had been lacking for a long time. For instance, while she still believes in justice, in the Quincy, and in the advancement of power and success through strong and artistic endeavors, she’s much more likely to indulge in a bit of foul play. After all, the end results are the most important, and now she has come to terms with the fact that the end does indeed justify the means. And besides, there was nothing wrong with enjoying what she already did…

Eventually, Sofia had finally decided to come out of hiding. There was no reason to stow herself away in the darkness, when she could work from it, and thrive within it. On that very evening, as she walked through the once valleys of death, now simple woodlands almost waiting to be ravaged, her attire was not indicative of someone that was wanted to be found. The Quincy sported a long blue hooded robe that extended all the way down to her boots. It was closed at the front with the only visible traces of her appearance being the silky smooth look of her skin and the dark bangs of black hair. As she walked on, mingling the whistling noises of the uneasy forest and her own careful delicate whispers.

“It’s only just begun.”

CALM BEFORE THE STORM

Artist: Skillet - Song: Brave - Word Count: 602

A year. Had it really been that long? It felt like it had only been a few days. Time had no mercy for the world. A soft sigh came from the lips of the Hybrid as he stepped in the foliage of Karakura. A hand rose to his face, his fingers spreading as he peeked through his fingers. It really had been a year since he had been here, talking to the Quincy, Sofia. Gods above, it had been quick. Henrex could still laugh at most of his actions back then, his choice of words, and how anxious and nervous he was around her at the time. Now, he had changed. He had gone to the Iga mountains and into the ninja's hidden camp a shy, scared child.

Now, he left the Iga mountains that he could call home a complete ninja. An even further experienced warrior, now possessing the skills of a samurai and ninja. Having matured in mentality, as well as his powers maturing.

Now, he wandered the world on a musha shugyo -- a warrior's pilgrimage -- which lead his travels to Karakura Forest once more. The year that had gone by had been...eventful. He had clashed with the Sword God, Stefan Soan. While he had lost, he had by no means not improved or bettered himself as a result of it. And secretly, deep down...he hoped for another fight like that. A fight that challenged him only the realm of swordsmanship -- a fight that would require him to bring everything that he learned over his eight-hundred years of life to the table.

A light smile came to the face of the ninja as he hoped for a day like that. His hand gripped the handle of his ninjato tighter as he stepped through the forest. The eerie, yet calm sounds of the forest softly sung out to his ears as the avian moved throughout the forest, leaping from tree to tree, silently drifting through the air current that flowed in his favor.

The Stealth Force Captain yanked the ends of his haori around his person as he came to a stop, silently landing on the ground as his landing was further silenced and made gentler from his wings unfurling and spreading. But, there was something that caught his eye.

Or rather, his ear. The avian's hearing heard a light whisper not too far away from him, which -- in response -- his body disappeared in a flicker, using Shunpo to travel instantly to the location of the whisper, reaching out with his senses in order to also locate the energy signature that the whisper came from. Materializing a few feet away from the origin, Henrex's eyes had a slightly difficult time trying to put a name to the face that he saw.

But, the memories came flooding back. The light smile on Henrex's face returned as he was finally able to figure it out. So, approaching the Quincy, his hand would drop to his side, away from his weapon.

"You look nice." He said, his soft voice mixing well with his light smile and the bleakness of the night.

If Sofia were to take a good look at his face, she would see that the scars that previously littering the left side of his face would no longer be there. But, the grey, broken eye would remain, now containing ripples and seeming to be useless. But, Henrex could still fully see out of that orb.

"Nearly a year...it's been quite a long time, hasn't it, Sofia?" He finished, a small glint in his eye as he released his haori from his hands.

The Dark Hero

Sofia Montero

Song: N/a STUFF - Artist: N/A STUFF - Words: N/A

It wasn’t very long at all until Sofia noticed the obvious. Someone was there. Someone that mattered in the sense that their spiritual pressure was alike to her own in level and well beyond that of those around them. However it took her up until she turned after hearing the newcomer’s words to realize just who it was.

”Hmm?” said the hooded figure as she analyzed the male before her, almost as if trying to figure out who it was. Then, after he called out her name and spoke for a little longer it finally dawned on her. ”It's you!” The way she said it almost seemed as if it wasn’t possible. The boy had indeed changed a whole lot. The last time she saw him he seemed timid and frail of spirit, even if his potential was great. He also frankly looked kind of weak and maybe even a little extra feminine, and with a lot of scars to boot. The Henrex she saw before him stood upright without hunching. He had a stronger presence, let alone a stronger spiritual pressure than the last time they crossed paths. In fact, last time they met, Sofia was a fair bit stronger than the shinigami but not this time. It wasn’t by too much but there was some statistically significant difference between the heft of his spiritual pressure and hers. And it wasn’t all that often she was around people as strong or stronger than her. More importantly however, it seemed as though his scars had disappeared; at least the visible ones she was aware of.

”What did you do? You look great,” she continued, mesmerized at his change, and even walking around him in circles, trying to figure it out. Though the Quincy was certainly much darker than she had been a year earlier, there was only playful malice in her actions, and there was no real or grievous harm intended for the shinigami. ”I knew you had a lot of potential. I knew I was right.”

With a big smile of victory and satisfaction, it almost seemed as if it was her that had accomplished all that. Regardless, seeing no reason to hide herself away in the robe now that she had been found, she simply pulled it up and tossed it over a rocky surface not too far from them. The attire she sported was very reminiscent of the Quincy uniform albeit with her own twist, and a much darker and insidious tone that bordered on sensual. It was a largely white set of clothes, offset only by the black of her fishnet stockings, gloves, and straps.

”See? I don’t look much different, buuuuuut, appearances can be deceiving.” Leaning forward as she spoke, the shinigami would’ve been able to notice a sudden change in her look besides her attire and the much more forward and direct approach she took while talking. The color of her eyes had changed from a medium brown, to a ruby and crimson red. Sofia did have a few new tricks up her sleeve that she had managed to iron out before she went on her self imposed exile.

”But it has been long.” With that she moved forth and hugged the man, arms stretched out below her as even for a relatively short girl, she was still much taller than he was. ”You even feel different. Gee idk if I should hug you or kiss you Mr. Don Juan.” She was much more direct nowadays thanks to her balancing out her persona with the help of the Seal. However, she still wasn’t very good at jokes or witty humour, a stigma from her more serious and righteous times. If it wasn’t completely rude, she would definitely challenge him to a spar later on that evening, but at the current time, she didn’t think she would win.
