So today, Obama announced his endorsement and support for Same-sex Marriage, and it's really quite odd. At first the man didn't support the claim and when he was elected back in 2008, he stated he supports civil unions, but not same sex Marriage. Now he supports it...

Now while I do as well support same sex marriage and believe it to be a fair way for ALL couples (lol yes, I am conservative and I believe in gay marriage, lololololol), I find it odd that Obama changes his claim this late in the game that it forces me to believe that this is all in support of his Re-Election campaign...

However, it is strange that suddenly in the midst of a re-election campaign he changes it to a position more favorable to a growing minority of Americans, specifically the undecideds.
I, personally, don't see a problem with same-sex marriage now.
When people quote the Bible about how "homosexuality is a sin" just quote them back Deuterotomy 22: 20-21

21: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you."

Basically, it's saying that if you're wife isn't a virgin, then she should be stoned to death.

That's my argument to those claims.

Honestly, considering the fact that those who quote the Old Testament (IE the famous "anti-gay" book Leviticus) tend to only go by the New Testament in every other situation, an opposing argument really isn't needed. Their own hypocrisy is their strongest enemy; that, and maybe the color pink.

I'm not surprised Obama "changed his mind". He's never seemed anti-gay anyway; besides, hes a democrat, so he's more likely to be for equal marriage than against it. Besides, he's not nearly as bad as Romney; Romney went from supporting equal marriage to being against it. Which change do YOU think is better?

In all honesty... he's trying to "cling for power". He's done nothing significant for us to admire and look back on; he's not done anything dynamic during his presidency, and now he's trying to stay in his spot (Just... why?). Here's some evidence that when taken from my view just brings this all into perspective, take of them what you will; I'm not an expert, but nor am I stupid:

1. Stopping the Mexican Wall being built: Guess what? Whites are becoming a minority. It's just fact. And while I may not know the Real Reason why there is support to stop the wall, I do know that it is a direct benefit towards Obama's campaign... while he's campaigning. Let's wait and see when he's reelected if it stays that way.

2. Stopping the Pipeline: It's coming. We all know it is. And it's being postponed; bad luck for it to be presented during the electional season. -looks at environmentalists- -shrug- take of it what you will.

4. We've always had our thoughts towards the race card; but that's about as overused as a turkey for thanksgiving.

Honestly, I never quote the bible when it comes to Gay Marriage. I am christian, and I am republican, but honestly, I am against taking away equal rights to any citizen within the untied states. If a Mexican gay man next to me wants the same rights as me, then who am I to deny him? HOWEVER, I want the same rights as him. More benefits in College grants, and no "Handicap" in college admission test scores. If one side needs to be equal, then ALL sides need to be equal. We can start this by removing the "Race" section in the forms we all fill out for applications and whatnot. Remove diversity by removing the claim.

Anyways, I personally feel that the way to make everyone happy is the Let the gays have their Marriage, just give it a different name. Call it civil union or what will you, but allow them access to the same rights as any other couple in America. Thus it's not "Marriage" and the Christian radicals have nothing to complain about, and the Gay/Lesbian couples get what they want...

Obama can suck it. I'm not saying this as a Republican, I'm saying this as a Military man, since he cut our spending/pay. My checks got smaller because of him...

In my opinion i think he changed it just because of the re-election.. It's only now that he started supporting it, it's not like there was a major change in his way of thinking... Maybe he got like a bunch of letters stating why people of the same sex should marry and what not, but i support it.. My aunt is lesbian and she told me the most logical thing why she and her partner want to get married.. Basically because of her own child.. She doesn't want her child to go live with her Dad or anyone in our family, they would rather have her live with my aunts partner so that my aunts partner can raise them in case my aunt dies. That's a very good way to think about it in my honest opinion.

Also yes, i do agree with Matthew on the whole issue of removing the whole race thing on applications and such because that right there is giving Mexican s and people that come from another country without much money to them having more money. IE Foodstamps that are given to Mexican families that have like 15 kids per household, which is a whole other issue within itself and can be debated on if we should have them or not.

Sorry JJ, but Imma have to correct a few things.........

White Americans are not a minority, and I doubt they ever will be in the foreseeable future. As a matter of fact, only about 12% of the American population is black. So, thats a poor reason.

Also, the "Mexican Border Wall" Would A. Not be cost effective, and B. Not. Work. Walls are just flat objects......they arent exactly difficult to get around.

The pipeline is extremely dangerous to the environment, and I doubt Canada would be too happy about it. (FYI, Canada hates American business; thats why its illegal for American companies in Canada to have embargos with other countries). What would happen if there was a leak in the middle of the wilderness, and BOOM, everything is covered in oil, thousands of living beings die, and the entire local eco system is destroyed? Exactly.

Also, Moose, considering the fact that America spends roughly 600-700(+) billion dollars on the military, while the second biggest military spender, China, only spends between 100 and 200 billion a year, the military DESERVES to lose some money. Thats a BIG reason why we have such a large deficit and why our economy began declining when Bush Jr. came into power.

One last thing, I agree @ Moose and Kenny. Remove things like that, and people will think less about race. I honestly don't see why there is a Black History Month, and no Asian History Month or Native History Month. Don't say its because of "what blacks have been through", because right after Pearl Harbor was bombed, hundreds of thousands of asians in America were round up and put in "internment camps", essentially concentration camps, American-style. I say we get rid of black history month, and every other holiday, or whatever, similar to it.

I agree with whoever says that Obama is just trying to get re-elected, but really if he gets same sex marriage approved by the law of the nations who gives a fuck?

We wanted a whole dug and if a grave digger wants to do it, let him he hasn't done much WRONG he's just kind of a sell out pussy... But thats the cynic point of view

CANADA
netherlands
Belgium
Spain
South Africa
Norway
Sweeden
Portugal
Iceland
Argentina

Several other countries afford some rights or protections in the form of civil unions or registered partnerships, including Denmark, the UK, and Brazil.
