Appearance Description: Aya stands at five foot five, and weighs 109lbs. She is always dressed in functional clothing that she doesn’t mind getting dirty, even on her days off. Her black hair is tied into a single sideways pony tail. It falls down to her waist when unbound. Her eyes are a dark green and her skin is pale white. She does catch the attention of the opposite sex quite often, but her severe expression often makes them think twice before talking to her. She often has her hand resting on the hilt of her blade, which only increases peoples hesitation to talk to her.

She wears the typical Squad Four uniform with a few alterations. She wears fingerless black gloves on her hands instead of leaving them uncovered. The second and for more obvious alteration is that she has a Zanpakutō, which is rare for many Squad 4 members. It causes many people to forget she is a member of squad four until they notice the Squad Four insignia on her uniform. Outside of the sick ward she constantly wears a severe expression making her seem angry all the time. Inside the sick ward she is all smiles. She does this to comfort her patients since no one wants an angry looking person taking care of them.

Personality: Aya is generally serious about her work and rarely jokes around. She will entertain her patients if she feels the need to and will relax when she takes those rare opportunities to go drink with comrades. She isn’t an angry person and feels bad when people perceive her as such, just because of her normal facial expression. She is a bit quick tempered when she catches people goofing off or shirking their duties, and will sit there and yell at them until the either run away or go back to their jobs.

Aya takes failure exceptionally hard and dwells on the failure until she can rectify it. If she can’t it will stay with her and cause her grief for many years. She still dwells on the mistake she made when she was still living and the lives it cost. This is the reason she is so determined to help others and attempt to somehow make it up to the dead.

Likes: Kidō, aiding others, sake, singing and thunder storms.

Dislikes: Disorder, unnecessary violence, failure, singing in public, and leeks.

History: In life Aya was about the same as she is in death. Serious, driven, and with a single minded determination to achieve her goal. She wanted to be a doctor and worked in an ambulance, while taking classes at a University in Tokyo. There she had a good life, even if it was hard to balance school, work, and leisure time. She managed though and even had time to be in the Kendo and Hiking clubs at the university. It all ended one clear blue summer day while on the job.

She was responding to a routine call about a woman passing out from the heat when the hollows appeared from out of nowhere and started to destroy everything in their path. She put the patient and her three young children in her car to take them to safety. She thought they’d be safe from the hollows by taking the less crowded back streets and avoiding the battles between the Hollows and the Shinigami. She was wrong to try and avoid the battlefield, for at least there they would have had the protection of the Shinigami. Yhey were smacked into a building by a Hollow that had chased them down. As Aya crawled from the wreck she witnessed the Hollow eat the children in front of their mother then the mother. As it turned to the injured Aya a Shinigami engaged it in battle, but it was too late for all the them. Aya bleed out from a wound from the crash and the woman and her children were eaten.

After what seemed like an eternity she woke up in the soul society. Well, woke up is a bit of a strong term. For ten years she was in a state of depression since her decision caused the death of a mother and her three children. Aya barely did anything other than the basic necessities needed to survive such as scrounging up food and water. Other than that she just sat and stared at the sky contemplating suicide. Finally one day she was wandering listlessly about when an accident happened that injured several souls.

Without really thinking Aya walked over to the injured souls and immediately began to work on them and kept them alive till members of Squad Four arrived to relieve them. The victims thanked her many times and Aya finally came out of her depression with a new sense of purpose. She decided to go to the academy and join the Fourth Squad in order to make up for her past mistakes and aid her fellow soul reapers. She now serves in Squad Four with a passion for her work, regardless of how menial the task may be.

Phantom Tech Abilities: X-ray vision, Increased Senses, and Vital Monitor. To use the vital monitor she has to touch a patient’s body for a moment for the tech to register the person’s vital signs. Aya’s sense of hearing is increased, as well as her sight and ability to sense spiritual pressure. It helps her in combat to keep track of her opponent. The X-ray vision is used for medical purposes, but can be used to see through walls and other objects. All these abilities are controlled by the chips implanted in her brain and there are no visible components on her body. Her eyes glow a bit when the X-ray vision is activated.(What can your character do with his or her's add-ons? This applies to any upgrades your character has gotten from places like The Cybermind as well.)

Roleplay Sample: Shena was in a battle that she had no business being in. She had tried her best to aid her Hyuuga team mate, but her efforts were in vain against the target. She had driven away one guard and killed another, but they were nothing compared to the strength of the target. She was unable to even scratch the leader or his now destroyed golems. Her Hyuuga team mate had been putting up a valiant effort, but the man's earth techniques seemed to be the perfect counter to the Hyuuga style of fighting.

Then the stranger had appeared as if by sent by the gods themselves to aid them in their time of need. He had effortlessly defeated one of the golems that had given the unfortunate duo so much trouble, impressing the inexperienced genin immensely. There was something troubling her about the man. He seemed so familiar, but she couldn't put her hand on it. Then it hit her like a freight train. The blood drained from her face as she spoke in a strangled whisper. "Enryuu."

Her last memory of the man flashed through her mind as she continued to put distance between her and the target. Shena had witnessed the man's power before, albeit from a place of relative safety. He was a force of nature on the battle field and the way he wielded the blade had awed her. It was like watching an apocalypse of flame and terror unfold before ones very eye's. It chilled you even if you where on his side. If you weren't well, you didn't have much time to worry before the end washed over you.

Kaede, the previous Hokage and possessor of the Kyuubi should be dead by all accounts. Apparently, those accounts were dead wrong. As she finished her little flash back another realization hit her. Akuma had willingly given the blade to the man, with no hesitation. That meant they knew each other. Her team mate knew the man who was supposed to be dead, and had even taken an order from him. Her body seemed to move in slow motion as she turned to face Akuma, who thankfully had a long distance between them. The look of utter malice and hate did not improve the Yamanaka's outlook on the situation. I've got to warn the village!

This did not bode well for Konoha and it boded very ill for Shena who had just figured this out. This mission's success no longer mattered anymore to Shena. She had to tell the village what she had just witnessed, but first she had to escape from this battle field, avoid capture by Kaede and whatever forces he had mustered, and whatever else the long road to Konoha had to throw at her. It was a daunting task that had to be done by one terrified experienced kunochi. To say the odds were stacked against her were the understatement of the century.

However, if she wanted any chance of survival she needed to leave right now, while the target still offered some opposition to the combined forces of Akuma and Kaede. The blonde kunochi, who was already running from the target booked it to the forest, leaping over and dodging various merchant stalls still standing. Her heart was beating like a drum hard against her chest, causing it to ache a bit, but she didn't really notice. She was too afraid at the moment to notice the mild discomfort. She held on to the vain hope that they duo of death dealers would be to busy with the target to chase her for a time. Perhaps, that would give her the time she needed to escape.
