THE RAKSHASA

Name of the Race: Rakshasa (Hell’s Demons)

Summary: Rakshasa are the demons known that inhabit Hell. These beings are shown to have incredible power and affinity for Hell, very few of them ever being born. After the occupation of the original Hell by Deveta, Ender had peaked into Hell to find that the guardians were no longer the assumed Kushanāda, but rather they were replaced with these new forms of demons. Unlike the earlier guardians, these beings have been shown to have free will but be very scarce in number. There is only said to be one Rakshasa that occupies each realm of Hell, once that is filled, the production of Rakshasa will stop. Equipped with their own unique set of traits and powers, the Rakshasa proved to have an absolute ‘devil’ psychology, being extremely prone to angelic and similar purification attacks. They are driven to the point of madness when constantly thrown into the presence of Angels or Angel Iramasha, and vice-versa for the said Angle Influenced.

How long have they existed?: These beings have been said to exist for over four hundred years, if not longer, however kept themselves confined within the likes of Hell. These demons have existed since the eradication of their predecessors known as the Kushanāda much earlier in the cycles of Hell.

Sub Race of: Demons
Secondary Sub Race: N/A

How to become one: There are very few ways for a person to become a Rakshasa, and the likelihood of achieving said transformation is nearly zero. Most of these Demons have either existed for hundreds of years, or had their potential hidden within the Demon World’s race of demons.

  • Method One: Soul Linking
One of the methods to become a Rakshasa is Soul Linking. As one might assume from the name, the demon (only Demons can use this method) must have a personal interaction with Deveta or Death themselves in some form. Beyond this interaction, the demon must also have established some form of relationship with Deveta and the Embodiment of Death itself, having struck a deal in which their souls would be linked for all eternity. Once their souls have been paid and linked to either Deveta or Death’s Embodiment, they have been found to instantly go through the changes in which they grow as a Rakshasa. This method is near impossible to reach, and due to needing a relationship with one of the two Gods, it is highly unlikely for one to find a way to develop themselves into a Rakshasa. However, by using this method, their power as a Rakshasa can also have their status as a Rakshasa demon revoked at almost any instant. If their plans go against the likes of Deveta, then one might find themselves absolved into a normal demon in which their souls remained linked and consumed by Deveta, a possibility also remains that their own bodies will be consumed along with the remnants of their linked soul.

  • Method Two: Natural Selection
Once every blue moon, a Rakshasa can be born from the likes of a normal demon. The best way to understand this is to think of it similar to how a mutant might be born, or someone with a birth defect even. These demons can be born into a being such as a Rakshasa, their genetics and entire bodies being mutated into a demon that is considered “the Demon of Hell” and draw power from the said realm. People whom have children that turn out to be Rakshasa are sent to the likes of Hell instantly, these children are then brought up by either their fellow Rakshasa or instantly thrown into their respective position of being “guardian” of each separate world or layer that exists within Hell.

  • Method Three: Embodiment of Sin
This method is the most common way someone of any race may become a Rakshasa demon. “Embodiment of Sin” recognises someone whom may be living in extreme sin and materialises into them. The person of any race may find themselves implanted with an alter ego inside their heads, some even gaining a Ziamichi through his process. After a long period of time, these ‘voices’ or ‘alter egos’ that manifest within a host are capable of corrupting their mind to the point of physical change. These voices have been said to push the host towards one of the deadly sins, over time, becoming so corrupt with these thoughts that their physical body continues to change and their entire being is now devoted to that original sin. For example, if one were to be infected with the alter-ego of Lust, the person would undergo extreme pressure from the voice constantly sitting in the back of their mind, almost like controlling the host. Once this has been achieved, and the host wills it, they can transform their bodies into a Rakshasa of Lust, or a Rakshasa of Wrath - Whatever the individual “Ego” implanted in them represents. It must also be stated that the only way to obtain one of these “egos” if for an existing Rakshasa to implant it, purposely, into the person of their choosing.

Associated Organisation: Shadow Fall - However hold no allegiance to them and will act on their own accordance if provoked or even fight Shadow Fall members.

Orientations: The Rakshasa spend most of their efforts to make connections and friendships with the Demons of Demon World. However, as mentioned, they are not adverse to killing or destroying individual demons if opposing Hell or trying to break through each layer.

Aesthetics: Whilst most demons of Demon World take on appearances such as shifter forms, the Rakshasa have no such form. It is said that these demons are forced into their true form for all existence due to the overwhelming, assimilating and forceful nature of Hell. However, due to this, they have taken traits that are more akin to that of actual demons that have been recorded through scripture. For example, one might take on the traits of multiple heads, or one might take on the trait of Ifrit’s scaled, demonic skin and tufty horns. Given all the appearances they can take, there is not a single piece of a Rakshasa’s appearance that doesn’t reflect something of them, be it a power or a reflection of their personality. The most common traits are as followed:

  • Tainted Skin - Dāgī Tvacā
As one might assume, for being of constant pressure and exposure to Hell’s Energy, the Rakshasa demons have been told to take on reptilian like scales, similar to what one might see on a lizard or perhaps a snake. These tainted skin pieces do not largely have to be of reptilian or scale like structure, but rather all it requires is some ‘unique’ attribute to their skin in one or more locations. This can range from such things as pillars of metal covering locations of skin or even minor details. The “tainted skin” attribute is also said to have it’s own effect on the demon and allows the demon to use a distinctive power. For this reason, it is best to think of the ‘tainted skin’ of Rakshasa to be something like a Iramasha’s Seishin Buki.

  • Aspect of Death
Each Rakshasa has said to take on an aspect of Death itself. This is one of the few things that make each Rakshasa unique in their ability to guard each section of Hell. The Aspect of Death has said to take on of the more obvious physical attributes (not only pertaining to genetic appearance) but can also extend to such things as exterior aesthetics, such as accessories on items they can wear. The best example of this ‘Aspect of Death’ might be the fact that they wield a large, reaping scythe (as seen in most written scriptures of Death) or even that sections of their bodies have the flesh eaten away and show a portion of their bodies to be nothing but rotten flesh, to the point where it reveals most of their skeleton for that specific area.

Additional Information

Hierarchy System
The Rakshasa don’t have many laws or boundaries placed upon them, nor are they essentially considered part of an ‘organization’. They are simply the guardians of Hell and it’s inhabitants. Despite this, each Rakshasa has been found to be the guardian of a single layer of Hell. This means that the deeper you get into the layers/worlds of Hell, you are much more likely to find higher tiered Rakshasa. Right at the deepest possible pit, right before the Embodiment of Hell, rests one of the strongest of the Rakshasa and is considered the Guardian of Death’s Embodiment. Whilst the Rakshasa at that depth is not there to specifically protect Death’s Embodiment, but rather is there to keep the realm free of ANYONE who tries to enter. The only exceptions he would be to make are, on some occasions is Khala Asthavon and her family. Even with that in mind, the Rakshasa are under no obligation to open their layers of Hell and let them through. It is much more common to find the lesser experienced Rakshasa in the above layers, however there is no such requirement, meaning any Rakshasa can be in any layer.

Free Will
Unlike what many people might think, and contrary to their predecessors known as the Kushanāda, the Rakshasa were created with their own personal ideologies and free will. Whilst they have their duties as the guardians of Hell set in stone, they are free to wander into whatever realm they wish or have their own set of beliefs. All Rakshasa do share one thing in common, as mentioned, which is the Guardian of Hell aspect, but they are free to sit on their throne in each realm in any way they wish. They can rule over their own layers of Hell in whatever way they wish, free to do their own thing and think whatever.

Absolute Demon Psychology
As a cause of being the Demons that have originated from Hell, the Rakshasa have taken upon the idea of “Absolute Demon Psychology.” This basically means that they are the essence of demonic energy, they are the embodiments of Hell. As a result of this, these demons are highly prone to purification based spells or attacks - if a character that is associated with the ‘angel psychology’ approaches them it is likely they’d grow sick or even be filled with an array of emotions, the first usually being wrath or despair, but it ranges for each individual. Basically, the presence of their ‘angelic’ counterparts are capable of throwing their bodies and minds into a frenzy, if not this. However the same can be said in reverse, when in the presence of Angel like figures, it is said that their minds can also be thrown into array and their very bodies filled with emotion just like the Rakshasa does.

Reality Morphing
On most of the layers of Hell, 1 through 665, the worlds are capable of being morphed to the Rakshasa's will. Once a Rakshasa has been assigned their own layer of Hell to stand as a guardian, they also inherit the power known as "reality morphing". This means that at any point in time, they are capable of shifting their respective layers of Hell to take on whatever appearance they desire. Whether this be a fiery furnace where everyone on their level of Hell burns and continuously crumbles, or a field of never ending hills and planes, filled with darkness. In the end, this is purely up to the individual demon. They are given free-reign over their layer of Hell, so if someone decided they wanted to fight a Rakshasa in their layer of Hell, they could find themselves in a constantly shifting landscape and even attacked by this shifting land. This also means they are connected to their layer of Hell, constantly being capable of keeping tabs on the happenings in it.

Additional Racial Powers: As mentioned briefly, none of the Rakshasa’s appearance is without a purpose. Whether it’s a reflection of their personalities or it plays a part in their powers, all Rakshasa have something in common - The Dāgī Tvacā.

  • Dāgī Tvacā (Tainted Skin)

The Rakshasa’s Dāgī Tvacā is said to be one of their first and foremost powers in which they can access whilst in Hell. Most Rakshasa have said to use this as one of their most powerful ‘buffs’, however also shifts to each individual Rakshasa Demon. The best way to envision the Dāgī Tvacā is to compare it to a blessing that allows them their powers. Typically, however, it is something that is natural to their appearance and is attached, in some form, to their skin. When in practical use, however, Rakshasa have shown to be able to summon upon this tainted section of skin to activate their own personal attributes and powers.
The Dāgī Tvacā allows the Hell Demon to gain strength in ways that other could not imagine, which is something treated like a seal on their bodies. This “seal” can be lifted by the Rakshasa literally tearing the Tainted Skin away from their bodies, not revealing underneath a bloody mess, but rather the colour of their normal skin. Each Dāgī Tvacā is different in every aspect, one might simply allow an incredible boost in physical strength and defence, whilst others might literally contain their powers that could wipe out a large portion of their respective levels of Hell.

There is generally no limit as to what their Dāgī Tvacā might attribute nor what form it could take. One might have it simply glow when used as a ‘buff’, or one might have it turned into a form of a weapon, or some form of power to be used as a weapon. The Dāgī Tvacā, however, has said to be only activatable in Hell. Due to the amount of demonic energy that is needed to activate it, it is only possible for one to use it there. And when it is activated, if used correctly and to it’s full potential, they have shown to able to use enough power to nearly obliterate their respective layers of Hell. Typically such a feat is only possible when the tier of the user exceeds 0-2.

  • Astitva Kī Baṛhata (Edge of Existence)

Astitva Kī Baṛhata, otherwise known as Edge of Existence, is the transportation method that Rakshasa use to travel between realms and/or layers of Hell. The Rakshasa’s body beings to illuminate in a dark red tone, before scrambling like a disrupted television, soon followed by their bodies disappear in a similar fashion. Like turning off a TV, their bodies collapse upwards from their feet and downwards from their head, meeting halfway in the middle and disappearing into an ‘external dimension’ which instantly allows them to pull the string on which dimension they wish to land in. This “Edge of Existence” is an instant teleportation, something that also works like a shinigami shunpo -- however considered to have twice the distance possible of being travelled. They can use this to cover great distances in milliseconds, or switch between Hell, Demon World, Soul Society or Earth Instantly. Their skill level in this determines how well they can succeed in this endeavour of travelling and how straining it is on their bodies.

  • Naraka Jānavara (Hell Beasts)

Otherwise known as “The Hell Beasts”, the Naraka Jānavara are seen as the “partners” or “assistants” of the Rakshasa. These Naraka Jānavara do not have a typical form, nor do they have a typical personality - it is unique for each Rakshasa. These Hell Beasts can take almost any appearance, from the appearance of a demonic mutant to an animal or an insect to a humanoid figure. These Hell Beasts are generally free to roam, but mostly they are seen by the Rakshasa’s side. They have their own set of unique powers and even their own ability of free will. The best way to think of this is to imagine these beings as an extended power of the Rakshasa themselves, that they are beings they are dedicated to having by their side. These Naraka Jānavara are said to be linked to the Rakshasa, as well, meaning that as long as the Naraka Jānavara still exists -- the Hell Demon cannot die. For this reason, many people leave their familiars/Hell Beasts away from danger as it takes away their source of rebirth. This rebirth, however, is not a clean process. When someone is reborn through a Hell Beast, the Rakshasa loses partial moments of their memory as well as go through intense agony on rebirth. If it was a normal human going through the pain, the agony the experience could be akin to having you skin melted off with fire.

However, it should also be noted that the Hell Beasts are capable of storing, within themselves, a portion of the Rakshasa’s power. If an individual Hell Demon decides that they want to store their powers into their Hell Beast, the beast itself can become a rather strong individual on their own, but the Rakshasa loses a portion of their power. To gain this said portion back, some Rakshasa have decided place their ascended states into their Naraka Jānavara, meaning that only by fusing or combining with the said beast they can access their scended state of forms. These can be played by characters or as NPCS in the profile. For the skill sheet, the "rebirth skill" determines how clean and easy the Hell Beast can regenerate and rebirth their Rakshasa. Magic skill determines how adept they are in Demon Magic. And just as normal demons, they can use Za Koa in a variety of ways, the skill in the sheet also referencing that, similar to how they can also have their own Akuma Kyodo field.

  • Demon Magic

Just as the natural race of Demons can use the in depth and powerful magics of Demonic energy, the Rakshasa also have access to the said sources of magic. In this regard they also have a very similar skill-sheet for Demon Magic and Za Koa. Rakshasa have said to be peaking with Za Koa and are mostly naturals in the aspect of Demon Magics. One of the differences in their magic use is the potency whilst in Hell. Just as the aspects of Demon’s grow stronger once in Demon World, Rakshasa’s magic is FAR more powerful when fighting on their home turf of Hell. As they have access to Demon Magic and are quite adept in it, these Rakshsa also are quite advanced in the area of Death Energy and can combat people even in the Asthavon family in terms of Death Energy battles.

Additional Racial Forms: Just as there are demons which can call upon their full potential as a Demon, the Rakshasa are capable of doing something very, very similar. The ascended state is known as Tukaṛā Saitāna, literally translated to “piece of the devil” in Hindi.

Tukaṛā Saitāna (Piece of the Devil)

For most Rakshasa, this is their first and only ‘ascended state’ they can access. In many way this is more akin to the final release of a Shinigami or a Arrancar, meaning that it can rival even those whom choose to activate their Shikokai or Segunda Etapa, or equivalent powers. For this is considered the pinaccle of the Demons of Hells powers, one should take note that their powers amplify by 50 to 100 percent when activated. Not only their existing powers, but even such areas as their strength, speed and master over Za Koa. When this said form is activated, their entire bodies are filled to the brim with demonic essence. They can no longer speak English, if they speak at all, all of their words are in the ancient and incredibly complex demon language. For this purpose, this is the form only activated when their desire is to truly obliterate their opponent. No diplomacy, no waste of English or Japanese words on their opponents - just the fight and humiliation of their opponent.

With this powerful state activated, the Rakshasa’s Naraka Jānavara (Hell Beasts) also go through intense change. If the Rakshasa had decided not to slot a portion of their power into their Hell Beast, the beast itself will change form into it’s ‘true’ appearance. For example, if a Hell Beast took the appearance of a normal human being -- when the Rakshasa activates their Tukaṛā Saitāna, the beast could take on the appearance of a hellhound, or perhaps a large demonic monster that is akin to the size of Godzilla. It varies from individual to individual. However, if the Hell Demon had decided they did wish to combine their bodies with their Hell Beast, the Rakshasa themselves undergo far more radical change than those who did not. Rather than the Hell Beast changing, the demon merges themselves with their familiar and then themselves grow into their true appearance, usually a mixture of demonic and human entity.

The outcome of the Tukara Saitana, in the end, depends on how you became a Rakshasa in the first place. If one became a Hell Demon through dealing with Deveta or Death’s Embodiment, it is likely they will transform into something either akin, in appearance and powers, to Death or Deveta. Although it must be noted that they do not take on all these appearance or even a fraction of their powers, they just influence the type of Rakshasa they may become. Next, if one became a Rakshasa through birth, then it is completely random. As there is no known reason as to why these demons are born as a Rakshasa, the concept behind their powers can be completely randomly chosen, not tied or referenced to anything. And finally, those who became a Rakshasa through the Embodiment of Sin. Upon activating their ascended state, the Rakshsa will more than likely find themselves to become the living embodiment of that sin. For example, if one were to be influenced by the idea of wrath, the Rakshana is likely to have their appearance changed accordingly to Wrath and have their powers based around the same sin. The same goes for Lust, Gluttony and etcetera.

Race History: Over four hundred years ago, this race did not exist. Only for a very short period in time, these beings have been brought into creation and now stand guardian over the likes of Hell. Before the Rakshana were present in Hell, Deveta had created another type of guardian, that of which wad dominated by the idea of being slaves to his will, and that would guard the realms of Hell for all eternity. These beings were known as the "Kushanāda" and witheld incredible power to destroy anyone who had tried to enter into the realm of Hell. However, the exact time these beings were destroyed and replaced is unknown. When Ender had peaked into Hell during his invasion upon the Soul Society over 400 years ago, the likes of "Kushanāda" had disappeared, these new guardians with the title Rakshana had appeared and emerged out of the ashes of their predecessors. Ender had not known what happened to the originals, nor why they were replaced, however what is known is that these beings were now seen as the guardians.

For a long period of time, people had not grown to understand why or how they existed. In fact many people, outside of Ender (whom nay lays in Hell anyway), did not know of their existence, let alone the existence of a new Hell being formed by Deveta. It is said that the first Rakshasa was born from the blood and bones of all created Kushanāda, their former guardians. The first Rakshsa was said to be the strongest of them all, even to this day, has been said to sit at the lowest pits of Hell and guard the gateway into the Embodiment of Death. However, people slowly found these beings more prominent within Demon World. At first, the Rakshasa newborns were considered blessed as being “Deveta’s Vessle” or “disgraces to the demon race”, which was a common view among the people as abominations and ‘impure’ demons.

Due to the lack of these demons, not many considered it a problem. Even from the point of their existence up until modern times, the Rakshasa had only two births that sprouted, one implanted as an Embodiment of Sin and only the original to have struck a deal with Deveta and Death. However the total number of Rakshasa, in current times, was impossible to know. There could have been ten or so more that they didn’t know existed, what mattered at this time was that they would finally begin to fill realms of Hell. Slowly, they would come in. However they were not common, making the ordeal of ‘recruiting’ a hard task for the Rakshasa demons. It was not until the Rakshasa were placed in Demon World that they found their Hell Beast counterparts, or rather developed them.

As soon as Khala broke the existence between Demon World and Hell, summoning the gates, the original Rakshasa had emerged and shown himself to Demon World. At this point, the two newborns or kids despised as a Rakshasa were either forced into Hell as a guardian or seemingly came without any problems. Each Rakshasa was assigned a layer of Hell in which they would be the guardian of. Their powers were gauged in combat with the original Rakshasa, and from there he had assigned them their positions and which levels they were guardians of. For many Rakshasa, it was a great honor to be assigned their own realms to guard - for some, however, viewed it as a curse. To be forced into being a guardian of Hell. This was the result of allowing the guardians free will in Hell, that they could make their own decisions and even travel to Earth. Many were abandoned or destroyed within their first few trials as a guardian, however. As of right now, there only exist two guardians right off the bat - both of which currently occupied the two lowest pits of Hell.

Why Should we add/play this race?: This race takes a spin on the usual Demon found within Demon World and shows it’s Hellish equivalent. There are key differences between the two, they are assigned the direction as Guardians of Hell based upon their affinity and strength whilst on Hell’s soil. This race shows a truly exclusive side of the demons which can emerge from Hell, something I truly believe has a potential to be a feared race of protectors. When one envisions Hell, they see truly demonic things. They see bodies being ripped apart, eternal flames of damnation to those who deserve to suffer. These demons and their Hell Beasts represent that destruction and widespread chaos, they express the fear that is needed from the inhabitants of Hell.

THE RAKSHASA DEMON TEMPLATE

BASIC INFORMATION
____________________________________________________

» Name: (What is their name?)
» Titles: (Does your character have any sort of special title rank, nickname or alias?)
» Age: (How old they look and their real age)
» Gender: (Male, female or none?)
» Affiliation/Rank: (What Group are they apart of or are they rouge?)

» True Appearance Written: (What is the appearance of your Rakshasa? They do not have any form of shifter appearance, they are always in their true form)

» True Appearance Picture: (If you have an image, feel free to post it here. If not, remove this)

____________________________________________________

PERSONALITY INFORMATION

» Personality: (Everyone has a general personality. Please make sure it at least 2 to 3 paragraphs)

____________________________________________________

BACKGROUND

» History Three paragraph minimum of your characters history. Also include how they became a Rakshasa as it is very key to the powers and appearances they can take.

____________________________________________________

THE DAGI TVACA (Dāgī Tvacā)

» Dāgī Tvacā Name: (Does their tainted skin's power have a name?)

» Dāgī Tvacā Appearance: (In what form does their Dāgī Tvacā appear? This can be a patch of reptilian skin, a large metal arm, anything that effects their outer appearance.)

» Dāgī Tvacā Release Appearance: (What happens when your Rakshasa uses their Dāgī Tvacā? Does their tainted skin simply glow, or does it gain an effect like being entailed in death and blood? It's up to you.)

» Dāgī Tvacā Powers: (What type of power or buff does your Dāgī Tvacā give you? For some, it can be a simple as an incredible speed/strength or even intelligence buff. For others it can be a weapon or a personal power)
____________________________________________________

GENERAL AND NATURAL SKILLS

» Natural Abilities: (What are some of the natural attributes and general things your character is capable of doing? This covers things such as intelligence, demon magic and their levels of strength/speed/agility, etcetera.)

____________________________________________________

SIN/DEVETA/UNIQUE ABILITIES

» Sin/Deveta/Unique Abilities: (Those Rakshasa born of a Sin implanted in them are capable of having powers related to their Sin. Those born of Deveta and Death can take on traits that would be associated with him, and the unique abilities are born from the "birth" method. Depending on how your Rakshasa was made, this could highly influence their unique power-set)

» Merged with Rakshasa?: (Is this Hell Beast holding a portion of the Rakshasa's power or is it only holding it's own? Depending on your choice, it may make your Hell Beast stronger than others, but other Rakshasa of equivalent tier stronger than your character until merged in their final form)

» Naraka Jānavara Abilities: (What sort of powers can your Naraka Janavara use? These can be basics things or indepth explanations, it's up to you. Note: those who hold a portion of their Rakshasa's power are likely to have more abilities

____________________________________________________

TUKARA SAITANA

» Tukaṛā Saitāna Name: (Does your Tukaṛā Saitāna have a name?)

» Tukaṛā Saitāna Appearance: (what does their appearance look like? For Rakshasa not storing power in their Hell Beast, their appearance usually remains far more humanoid shaped. For those with power in their Hell Beasts, once merged, the appearance is usually much more demonic and frightening)

There really isn't much feedback to give because this race seems so well put together. However, with the addition of the "Hellverse", might I suggest that some : The Rakshasa in Layers 3 through 665 be able to morph the dimension of hell they control? That way it can kind of be personalized if possible and make it easier to track these realms

Even if it isn't added, though, you have my seal approval for this race.
