I. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills

» Racial Attributes:

»» Low Reiatsu: For all intents and purposes, Box is not a very powerful Shinigami. Most of his peers, especially those who out rank him, all vastly outstrip the sheer quantity of Spiritual Energy that Box is capable of producing and as a result, there are many things that Box is simply unable to do or require considerably more time and effort for him to do than it would for other Shinigami.

The first and most damning weakness that Box's unfortunate genetics provide is that Box will not, under any circumstances, be able to produce a Kido spell whose base is numerically more powerful than 60. No amount of control on Box's part is able to supplement the sheer energy requirements for the higher level spells. He is simply too weak to properly accomplish this feat regardless of how fine tuned his control of his energy may be and escaping from binds that require you to overpower them with Reiatsu are typically ironclad for holding the boy.

In addition, it is much harder for him to accomplish Shinigami benchmarks than it is for his peers, such as Shikai, Bankai, etc, causing Box to have to ascend two more sub-tiers to achieve the same effect. For example, if an average Shinigami needs to reach 3-1 in order to obtain their beginner Shikai, Box will have to reach 2-4 for a similar result. As such, Bankai is going to be a massive accomplishment for him and Shikokai is virtually unattainable through any natural method.

»» Immaculate Reiatsu Control:

Fortunately, Box's weakness is not a complete death knell for his prospects as a Shinigami. While he will never be as naturally strong or powerful as most Shinigami, Box's capacity for control dramatically outstrips every Shinigami at his level that he has yet met and from what he's been told, outstrips many of his superior's as well. This aids Box's primarily method of fighting immensely as he is capable of Kido that, while not awe inspiring or dramatic in their power, require much finer control of energy. Allowing him to perform Kido that are far outside the purview of the traditional school and cause considerably more wild and unpredictable abilities and Box is capable of doing this seemingly effortlessly, performing these wild but subtle techniques with considerably less effort than someone else would. For a more mathematical representation.

Hypothetically, if Box and an equivalently tiered Shinigami repeatedly fired Hadō #33, Sokatsui at a target, Box would have an additional thirty or so shots than his peer, despite said peer having considerably more Reiatsu than Box. The inverse however, is that while that Shinigami could fire a considerably more amount of $54 Haien, as Box is completely incapable of it. Effectively allow Box to substitute the raw power he lacks with a frankly absurd amount of stamina for the limited amount of energy he has.

»» Amplified Analysis Processing:

Due to his deficiencies, Box could do very little in the Shinigami world off of natural talent, because he had none. The one skill he DID have however was an innate and uncanny ability to process and understand the underlying system, philosophy, and techniques that go into Kido and, by extension, most other magic abilities. His talent in understanding the fundamentals of magic are so great that it does not take more than a few casts and often no more than one cast of a spell for Box to comprehend it enough to replicate it or at the very least a convincing facsimile of it. Of course, the more complex a spell is the more views it will require and magic of different races present a similar difficulty, but enough immersion to it and Box will be capable of analyzing, diffusing, and often replicating the spell.

Of course, the same limitations that apply to his normal capacity for Kido apply to this as well. Box is not able to replicate any spell that is numerically above #49 or equivalently powerful spells of non-numbered races and he is subsequently relegating to simple analysis and possible diffusion if he is not overwhelmed by the sheer Reiatsu involved.

»» Thief-Taker General:

Box has two, albeit truncated, lifetimes of experience being a dastardly thief. He's picked pockets, crept across rooftops, trailed marks, and performed all sorts of acrobatic feats to get to those juicy valuables that would be so much more useful as bread. As a result, Box has an uncanny sense of balance and acrobatic ability that allows him to perform various feats of balance and flexibility that would otherwise be impossible for the average Shinigami. This affords him the ability to, when forced to fight hand to hand, overwhelm his opponents with a barrage of ridiculous off angle attacks that are difficult to keep up with. In addition, and more often utilized, is his ability to beat a fast retreat or escape from traps that he probably shouldn't be able to off of sheer, mundane, flexibility.

» Kido Abilities:

»» Kido Incantations:

The Incantation is an important attribute of Kido and is typically a requirement and while Box is perfectly capable of a standard Incantation, his true strength comes in his ability to excel at the advanced forms AND his ability to adapt them further to create entirely new methods of incantation.

» Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄, Incantation Abandonment): A class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner forgoes using a spoken incantation at all. While it decreases the time needed to release the Kidō, it drastically weakens the spell. While anyone well versed in Kidō can use this technique, it is most effective when done by a skilled practitioner, otherwise the spell could utterly fail (e.g. explode in the user's face). The most skilled experts are capable of using this technique to amazing effect.

»» Idō Eishō (Kinetic Incantation): While the Eishōhaki is something that presumably most Shinigami are capable of, it was not enough for Box. He did not have enough power to be able to afford to completely forego a full chant and rarely had the time to fully recant a spell nor was it especially suited to burglary to be announcing everything you're doing. As a result, Box developed his own, personal shortcut by breaking down what the Incantation provided in your typical spell cast and finding a substitute. To fully channel the power of Kido, it requires a medium and while that medium has historically been an incantation, if it was possible to truncate it, it was possible to substitute it. As such, Box developed a way for kinetic movements to serve as the medium for his Kido. While it does not quite reach the fully potency of a fully canted spell, the drop off with the medium substitute is drastically less than a full Eishōhaki. If an Eishōhaki was only at 50% potency, an Idō Eishō spell would be at 85%, allowing a silent and occasionally quicker means to perform Kido. The movements required vary with the strength of the spell, the lower numbered spell could be as subtle as a nod of his head or a snap of his fingers, while the higher numbered spell would require more in depth movements akin to a Tai Chi routine, Box thankfully being spared most of the more ridiculous calisthenics by not being able to exceed 50 anyway.

»Nijū Eishō (二重詠唱, Twofold Incantation): a class of Kidō Incantation where the Kidō practitioner mixes the incantations of two entirely separate Kidō spells together to simultaneously save time and confuse their opponent.

»» Fukugō Eishō (Composite Incantation): Whereas the Nijū Eishō mixes the Cants of two spell in order to truncate the cast time and to send mixed messages on the spell itself, the spells remain functionally separate from each other. Feeling that could be improved upon, Box developed a means to layer the effects of one spell on to another by simultaneously performing the cast, typically an impossible feat as someone is unable to speak two words at the same time, but Box's ability to perform different types of incantations opens this possible box for him. While he still cannot make a spell stronger than his threshold, he is capable of augmenting a base spell with another spell.

For instance, if he cast a #9 Horin as his base spell and then layered a #4 Byakurai over it, he could ascribe more "lightning-esque" abilities to the Horin's tendril, making it faster and more difficult to evade while augmenting the type of damage the spell is capable of performing, in essence adding an electrical current to shock the captive victims.

»Kōjutsu Eishō (後述詠唱, Spoken-After Incantation): A class of Kidō Incantation where the incantation is recited after initiating the spell in order to power it up, allowing the caster to repeatedly chant the incantation to bolster the potency of the spell further and further.

»» Chien Eishō (Time-Delay Incantation): The inverse of the Kōjutsu Eishō, instead of constantly reinforcing an existing Spell, the Chien Eishō allows the user to allow a spell to trigger a time after the incantation at the caster's choosing, effectively allowing the user to cast spells and have them appear in to existence at as opposed to immediately on the cast. There are limitations however. The point of origin of a spell cannot suddenly be changed at the users whim. For instance if Byakurai is cast at Point A and the Caster moves to Point B, the point of origin of the spell will always be where it was originally cast at point A, that is not capable of being changed. This allows the user to attack from various angles, but in a straight forward fight it is easy to avoid and position away from the original trajectory to not get hit by it.

» Personal Kido Spells:

» Kido Spell Name: Speed Augment
» Kido Spell Type: Erudo - Augment
» Kido Number [Optional]: #25-X

» Kido Incantation: Fleet of Foot, Fast to Fall

» Kido Spell Effects: One of Box's Augmentation Erudo, after the incantation, the caster will place their hand on an object of their choice. Once contact is made with a direction and speed in mind, the object will jettison along that path and at that speed until it is impacted upon by an equal or greater force. The speed gained is proportionate to the amount of Reiatsu put in to the spell. At #25, the speed gained is equivalent to the top speed of a speed Adept and goes up each rating with every 25 ranks added to the spell.

» Notes:

» Kido Spell Name: Mass Augment
» Kido Spell Type: Erudo - Augment
» Kido Number [Optional]: #25-X

» Kido Incantation: Burden Breaks the Back, Weight Upon the Shoulder

» Kido Spell Effects: One of Box's Augmentation Erudo, after the incantation, the caster will place their hand on an object of their choice. Once contact is made with a weight in mind, the mass in the object will change dramatically. Defying physics ever so slightly, once contact is made the Kido alters the object momentarily so a mass equivalent to up to 60kg can be added or removed from the object without affecting the structural integrity of it. For instance boosting the mass of an arrow would not cause it to snap under its own weight, nor would it cause someone's arm to fall out of its socket. The spell only affects the ease at which the object can be moved or the amount of force it is capable of delivering. With every 25 ranks applied to the Kido, the threshold is increased an extra 60kg. The augmentation lasts for 3 posts once it is cast.

» Kido Spell Name: Density Augment
» Kido Spell Type: Erudo - Augment
» Kido Number [Optional]: #25

» Kido Incantation: Strength of an Ant, Lift the World

» Kido Spell Effects: One of Box's Augmentation Erudo, after the incantation, the caster will place their hand on an object of their choice. Once contact is made with a density or size in mind, the caster is able to shrink or grow the size of an object up to three times its original size in either direction. This can turn an object into a much larger shield covering a wider area or shrink down a small object to shrink its surface area and point of impact. The augmentation lasts for 3 posts once it is cast.

» Kido Incantation: Stillness of the Void, Nothing unto my Breast

» Kido Spell Effects: One of Box's Augmentation Erudo, after the incantation, the caster will place their hand on an object of their choice. Once contact is made all external forces upon an object cease to affect it. Gravity, a kinetic push on the object, etc. The object will achieve perfect stillness, simply floating in place. This stillness will remain until a supernatural force acts upon it again, at which point it will be able to freely be affected once more. If no external supernatural force acts upon the object, the effect will last three posts.

I. Sealed Powers

» Zanpakutô Name: Oya-Main

» Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance: Oya-main, despite not truly being a dual soul Zanpakuto despite their sealed form being two swords and Box's internal, perpetual insistence that his Zanpakuto IS his parents, manifests as a pair of Suns hovering on the horizon and casting their warmth upon the inner world.

» Zanpakutô Appearance: Oya-main appears as a pair of black, rectangular, blunted tanto that are rested upon a dual back harness. They are rarely seen outside of their sheathes, but the pair are an intense, pitch black obsidian.

I. Shikai

» Shikai Release Phrase: Rear, Oya-main.

» Shikai Release Action: Box will layer his Zanpakuto over each other at a perpendicular angle, as if one sword were the bow and the other the arrow, as he speaks the release phrase.

» Shikai Abilities: [What abilities does your Shinigami gain when releasing?]

»» Masterful Archer:

While released, the Oya-main affords Box skill with a bow and arrow well beyond what he would conventionally be able to achieve. The boy is able to hit a moving target at up to fifty meters away. Oya-main's Quiver holds sixteen arrows. When the arrows are expended, the quiver requires two posts to replenish its stock.

»» Spirit Diffusion:

As soon as Oya-main is released, a torrent of spiritual energy will pour out from Box over a 100 meter radius creating a haze of Reishi particles across the area around Box. This Reishi haze is effectively a palpable mist that. The mist is capable of being cleaved and pushed aside by a sufficient outburst of Reiatsu, but also appears to be entirely self-sustaining, making this a poor rebuttal outside of specific bursts. This mist's primary offensive application is to limit the unassisted range of visibility for those stuck in the mist to approximately twenty-five meters.

The primary function of the the Spirit Diffusion in and of itself is two-fold however. The first and most immediately obvious to the victim is that it makes Box nearly impossible to detect through conventional energy sensory skills. Due to Box's relatively meager Reiatsu, which the Diffusion is spread across an area, it is Reishi in and of itself and Box blends in to that sheen of Reiatsu almost effortlessly. The ability does nothing to impair ones ability to hear or smell or even taste Box moving through the area. Given that Box's reiatsu being relatively pathetic is the reason he can hid so successfully, this does not provide any sensory shielding to others in the field. So allies and enemies would be able to sense the different energy signatures with very limited impairment.

The second and less immediately noticeable by the victim is in the inverse. While the Spirit Diffusion denies his opponents information, it grants it to Box. Because his opponent is, ostensibly, moving through Box's field, their own energy will push through Box's field and disturb the Reishi particles. As a result, Box is able to detect any physical objects, most notably moving ones, inherently while they are inside his field. Unfortunately, as the ability only gives positional and vague size and shape information, once it is clear what it is doing it is easy to trick, by creating other physical objects through the field or using the cover of other objects to hide from Box's diffusion.

»» Ten-za: Ten-za or Translocation, is the secondary ability of Oya-main and specifically its named one. Box is able to relocate an arrow fired from Oya-main to any other location within his Spirit Diffusion, effectively allowing him to change his angle of attack in the field at a whim. There are, however, several restrictions.

The first and most obvious, is that the Translocation is restricted to the mist created by the Spirit Diffusion. As a result, Box is not able to position an arrow to close to another Reiatsu signature, as it is by its nature repelling the mist around it. As a result, Box is only able to position an arrow no closer than five meters away from a target. Giving most twitch happy spiritual beings the opportunity to evade it.

The second restriction is that the Ten-za itself does not actually alter any of the physical forces that are action upon the arrow, it is only changing its exact position within the field. The translocation cannot add, reduce, or change the velocity of the arrow. So any speed or force the arrow has must have been built up before the Ten-za is activated and any speed and force lost from air resistance or from hitting a target will remain lost afterward.

The third restriction is that the Ten-za can only be used once per post and may only affect one arrow at once for the time being. Limiting the different ways that Box may attempt to use this ability.
