Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind! Empty Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind!

Wed Jul 29, 2015 1:38 pm

Lex stared up at the night sky from the base of the temple steps, his eyes fixated on the stars above him for quite some time as he tried to take in what he had felt only half an hour ago. All that power, all that strength; it was now his and at his disposal. He had seen many visions of his previous counterpart using the sword, so it wasn't too hard to actually imagine, but to feel it himself, that was on a different level, a different outcome entirely. He had seen what the other Lex could do before he finally settled down from his exciting lifestyle and just enjoyed his comfortable position as leader of his empire. A lot of people still swore their allegiance to King Arthur over time since the previous Lex's passing, so it came as no surprise to him that the sword was even stronger now than what he even imagined. It almost frightened him how much his strength and endurance had increased since his 'reunion' with the Catalyst blade, but he was sure that with time, he would be able to restrain himself from making any mistakes with his power.

Unfortunately, that wasn't something he cold practice on right now, not having the set tools at the moment to properly gauge just how strong he was without causing any trouble. He was still in Eldrazi after all and the only way to immediately get any results from his strength and endurance was to use actual force on something. With practically nothing around to test it on, this only left the land itself and actual landmarks, something he wasn't planning on destroying just to guess his own limits. No, instead he was going to focus on something else to pass the time. Lex's eyes trailed from the starry skies and towards his biplane, where his current 'tag along' was sleeping soundly within one of the seats. Minerva had mentioned being tired and he offered to let her sleep before he headed off for his next destination, this left him with the task of staying up to protect her though, but he wasn't too bothered by it, having his various spells to take away any sleep deprivation that he would have later on within the next few hours.

So what would he do to pass the time? He started making his way towards the biplane after coming up with the answer, not taking him long at all to figure out what he was about to do to optimize his skills. He would reach into his cockpit and fumble his hand around the flooring of the plane, taking a few moments before grabbing for a small tome and leaving the plane's confines again. Here was the Niosha Tome, a collection of recorded magical spells that was related to a magic system on the planet Nadira. After learning the various spells that he felt were of primary concern, he had taken a break from learning from its pages for quite some time. But he figured now was the best time to get back into brushing up on some new spells and further strengthening his arsenal. He started flipping the pages to the tome, his eyes glued to the parchment as he slowly made his way back to the base of the temple. A few moments later and Lex would find what he was looking for, a perfect section to pick up and implement it into his work; wind spells.

Despite the black color code having every element at its disposal, Lex didn't find it too wise to delve into this color code too often without being absolutely certain he could handle the last one he learned. It just wasn't the fact that he wanted to learn these elements and cast simple spells dealing with them, he wanted, no, he needed to be precise and swift with each and every spell he used. Earth and metal were very hard to get accustomed to when it came to this, agility with solid structures? Precision with materials that weren't exactly light to control? It took him multiple tries to get used to this with such elements, but he was sure that wind would be far more forgiving in both control and the amount of pressure it could project. Lex put the tome down onto one of the stone structures next to the temple's stairs, now ready to begin his training.

Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind! Empty Re: Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind!

How did he approach this first? There were so many angles to go about this, and luckily for him, all of them involved things that didn't have to disturb the earth beneath him or any of the landmarks within the area, so at least he had plenty of options to try out. After contemplating it for a bit, he finally came to the conclusion of practicing a pretty basic technique, a wind shield. Like every other magic spell dealing with the color coded system, he knew that he would have to properly imagine what he wanted to do with the wind around him before it actually happened within the realm of reality. So, how did he go about imagining it? A spherical design would do for now, figuring it was the easiest to imagine on such short notice. He put some thought into it, imagining that a barrier of air would begin to 'thicken', despite it still showing no physical appearance around him. He would suddenly begin to hear the swirl in his vicinity, feeling the breeze shift around him more and more. This was an interesting development, wondering just how strong this wind shield would be in place before it started to waver in its longevity. He waited a few more minutes, wanting to see if it would wisp away on its own. Seeing that it didn't, he decided to give it a form of test, looking around the area for something small to throw before finding a rock. Picking it up, he tossed it up very lightly a few times to test its weight before suddenly chucking it as hard as he could into the open grass area. He watched the rock zoom past the wind's barrier and through the air before watching it skid across the ground a few times.

Interesting, but he needed more, a lot more. He bent over to pick up another rock, humming in thought about what he would do to test it out again before tossing it up high into the air. He watched it pass the wind shield's barrier again before continuing to rocket through the sky, right before it started plummeting back down due to gravity. He waited for the impact, a bit nervous that the wind would not hinder it whatsoever and he tensed up to embrace for it to crash against his head. But he would be rewarded with the sight of the rock bouncing off against the swirling wind around him, watching it skip to the right before hitting the ground next to him. So, he could make objects go through the shield, which was what he wanted, and it even blocked out any physical attacks that came his way from what he had just witnessed, which was perfect. 'I'm going to have to amp this up though if I want to actually hone the wind around me though... a wind shield should be pretty basic to keep up, but what about actually holding items in place?' he pondered, glancing around the area for a moment to find something to truly test himself on.

Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind! Empty Re: Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind!

His stun rod, his soul rod, his pistol, the Catalyst, and his Niosha Stone, that's pretty much all he had on him that made sense to try and test this theory out. He wasn't keen on trying anything on the stone though, since it was the only source in which he could use his magic in the first place outside of Niosha Village. And he surely wasn't going to use the blade he just excavated in any of his tests such as this, so he figured he'd just go with the three weapons for now. He detached both rods from the clip on his belt and set it onto the ground in front of him, releasing the wind shield spell to further concentrate on the task at hand. Once he finished that, he set his magnum onto the ground as well before backing up several meters, wondering if he could in fact lift it up from a distance instead of having to be right on top of it. The idea here was to try and levitate all three pieces of equipment into the air and then suspend it for over two minutes, seeing if he could accomplish this task on his first attempt. With a little bit of imagination, he began thinking of having the items rise into the air, wanting them to at least get to about fifteen feet before he would have them levitate in place. And it worked, for the most part, the magnum wavering a bit as it slowly rose up into the air as Lex actually closed his eyes to put more concentration into what he was trying to do.

After a little bit of putting more mental thought into the image, he opened his eyes to find the handgun floating in place with as little to no disturbances, not even seeing it twitch or spasm and instead watched it calmly rise and fall slightly from its current position as if it was bobbing up and down in water. Quite a feat indeed, Lex was rather impressed at the sight of it all, but he wondered if it was optimal, trying to think of a way where he could make the spell even more useful after suspending the items up into the air like that. Perhaps he was getting ahead of himself though, quickly remembering that he would need to activate the weapons in the air if he was going to make the technique useful. Seeing as the two melee weapons weren't exactly ideal to test right away, Lex decided to go with the most optimal choice to test out; the magnum pistol. With a little concentration, the pistol's trigger would slowly begin to get squeezed harder and harder before finally the handgun would ring out with a devastating crackle from it discharging, the bullet whizzing randomly into the gathering of trees around the temple.

Lex couldn't help but smile, this was certainly a good start, but he knew that he was going to have to be faster when it came to battle, a whole lot faster. He had the whole night to practice this, so he wasn't exactly in a rush. He was however worried if the shots would draw unwanted attention from someone, hoping that the entire area around the temple was as abandoned as the scouter proclaimed it to be. Of course, things changed at night, and Lex was quite aware that people had the strangest habits of using some of the most unorthodox places for shelter. He'd just keep that in mind as he glanced around a few times before continuing with his training, focusing on pulling the trigger as quickly as he wanted rather than trying to repeatedly pull the trigger at all. After all seven bullets within the clip were exhausted, he let the handgun drop from the sky before grabbing it, pulling out the used clip before putting in a new one. As he used the spell to let the magnum slowly levitate into the air again, he started thinking about just what he was going to have to go through in order to make these spells relevant during combat. This was certainly going to be a long night, but he was willing to get this right for when it really mattered.

Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind! Empty Re: Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind!

He kept this up for quite a bit, repeating the amount of times that he would shoot the magnum pistol into the open air before the clip would run out of the magazine. He would do this for at least eight more times before he felt he was confident enough he could be precise enough to squeeze a trigger during a technique without any problems. There was no question that such a waste of ammunition was rather uncalled for, but Lex didn't like taking chances for anything, one of his strongest suits and his greatest weaknesses. He wasn't going to stop something dealing with training until he was certain that he was well-versed in the aspect of it before moving on. And in this case, he was sure that if he added several more guns to the equation, he should have been able to adapt to the situation rather swiftly if the time called for it.

For now, he wanted to train another technique, something that had less to do with endurance of wind spells and rather had to do with it feeling completely natural, as if it was second nature to him. He would activate two spells at once for this specific section of training. One spell was meant to pressurize the air around his body, his frame being the focal point while the air seemed to pull in towards his position and then condense itself over time. The other spell would create several hands that seemed to connect to his back and reach out to about two meters. He was sure he could extend the range, but for now would be good as far as his training. This was where things got pretty tricky, he needed to maintain spells like these during the entire duration of a fight if he wanted to make it useful, there could be no taking a breather if he was fighting over ten to twenty strong and capable fighters.

He glanced over at the nearby forest and slowly walked over there, glancing back at the plane for a moment to see if Minerva's state of being asleep had changed for any particular reason. Seeing the clone of her still keeping an eye on him like a watchdog, he felt it was alright to go ahead with his next phase and head towards the forest. He could do two things at once actually, training more of his earth spells and keep this wind one intact while he did it. It didn't take him long to reach a good distance within the forest so he wouldn't do any true visible damage to the area around him. Nozomi was probably watching him at that very moment still, but at least he wanted her to see that he was trying to be respectful by not leaving marks and scuffs across the grass or broken trees within plain sight whenever someone else tried to visit the temple. And with that in mind, he would quickly use one of his new earth spells right away, causing several chunks of earth to form together to present a loose representation of himself. This was certainly going to be interesting, to say the least, not doing something that was on such a level before. But he was well-versed in earth techniques already so this wasn't too much of a problem for him as long as he kept his focus the entire time.

Earth clones, separating sound with wind, amplifying sound with wind, distorting vision with wind, creating miniature earthquakes and then nullifying them just as fast, Lex had done quite a bit within the eight hours that he had to train his magic. He didn't even realize that morning had snuck up on him until he started hearing various birds chirping loudly and the feel of the morning air around him, that wet mist feeling that one got especially within a forested area. He had learned enough for now he felt, at least enough to keep himself alive during a fight if he ever got into one during his next phase of travel. By now Minerva must have been awake and was probably ready to go anyway, something he had no qualms with since they had been in India for at least an entire day now. It was time for them to go and search for his next artifact, something that would allow him to keep both Minerva and himself in control in case anything got out of hand.

The prominent martial artist made his way out of the forest depths and into the open area again, rubbing the back of his head as he thought about what his next move was going to be. He slowly made his way to the plane, wanting to see if Minerva was up. Before he fully reached the plane however, he would already call out to her, wanting to see if she was perhaps undressed or anything so he didn't cause any awkward situations. "Hey Minerva, are you decent? I'm done with my training, so I'm ready to go whenever you are." he called out, still making his way to the plane but slowing up his walking speed. In case she was just getting up, he wanted to give her the chance to get ready to disembark on their new journey. They had a long way to go before his adventure ended, and to start things off, Lex was going to have to go back to the floating city in the sky to give a message to Nozomi, the handler of this section of the world.

Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind! Empty Re: Niosha Training: Affinity of Wind!

Minerva had been awake for a couple of minutes now. She yawned, stretching out her arms and legs while still lying down. She felt much better after some much needed rest. She listened to the birds chirping and the sound of a light breeze passing over her. She had a weird dream last night, but she couldn't remember any of it. She looked up into the sky to see where she originally left her clone, holding up her hand to block the bright sunlight from shining into her eyes. She telepathically summoned the clone to return to her and dematerialize and absorbed the clone into her, giving Minerva the memories of the clone which consisted of Lex's training. Through this she was able to gain a better understanding of this person she was with. But now wasn't the time to dwell on such things. It was a new day and she should get ready to go.

Just then, Lex began to approach the plane from out of the tree line. When he called out to her, she stood up to see him as he was only a couple of feet away at this point. She was still in her white nightgown. After realizing this she sighed to herself and jumped into a portal. In a couple of seconds, she appeared out of exit portal five feet to the left of Lex, wearing her trademark dark blue dress and bonnet with parasol in her right hand. She faced him and performed a curtsy.

“Good morning!” she said with a cheerful smile. “What is today's agenda?” she asked.

A silly question, They already discussed where they were going and that they would be traveling in the morning. She looked him over for a second before continuing.

“Well now, you look exactly like you was last night. You don't look exhausted at all. Did you really train like you said you would?” she asked with a doubtful look, pretending not to know that she knew all along about his all night training.

Another silly question. Perhaps she just wanted to see what he would say.

She seemed rather cheerful something Lex found quite pleasant as the first thing he would see in the morning. Her questions were warranted as well, despite him telling her the day before. He figured she just wanted to know what they were doing, task by task, to see if she could help in some way. Once he saw her teleport next to him fully clothed, he would still be making his way to the plane before slowly hopping into it. "Well, first we're going back to that place where Nozomi is. I'm going to be leaving her a recorded message thanking her for basically not interfering; she easily could have after all. Then we're heading to Japan after that." he informed, waiting until Minerva made her way onto the plane as well before he decided to start it up.

He watched the blades turn before thinking about her other question, chuckling to himself as he put on his aviator gear to keep the wind out of his eyes. Finally he glanced over to Minerva before answering her second question. "I did quite a lot last night, I didn't get any sleep actually, but if you want to test out my merit when we get the chance, I'd be happy to oblige." he said with some more chuckling. He wasn't sure that she would take him up on his offer, but he figured that he would at least spice things up that morning. It didn't take long for the plane to take off, where he would make his way into the sky and towards the city. It wouldn't take him long to get there, maybe an hour or so. He had already made a message with his scanner, recording himself telling Nozomi that he was grateful for allowing him to get his sword, that they were successful of getting it, and that he would be out of her hair from this point. He also added in that Minerva would be following him from this point so that way she didn't need to worry about her causing any trouble in her utopia either.

Back to Nozomi? Well she would make sure to behave herself. She didn't want to give an excuse for her to arrest them. While Minerva was interested in meeting new people in exotic places, perhaps moving on to another country would be a better idea.

“Do we have to go back to Nozomi? Is it wise to visit her? How much do you trust her” she inquired while climbing into the plane.

She raised an eyebrow at his comment. He sounds like he was itching at the chance to try his powers. Typical of a fighter. All they can think about is the lust for battle. She stopped to think for a moment. Maybe she was judging to quickly, she would probably feel the same. She often felt the urge to try out new spells whenever she acquired them.

“A test eh? You would control yourself wouldn't you? You wouldn't do something reckless and hurt me, a small and delicate girl, would you?”

They took off and were back in the air. She wondered if a spar would be a trap. Maybe he is trying to lure her into showing more of her magic. Maybe he can steal them she thought. At the same time, he would be showing her what he possessed. Or perhaps she was over thinking things. Only time would tell.

As the plane began its ascension into the sky, he could hear the concerns of the woman behind him, questioning if they should return to ruler's presence and if he trusted her. The truth was, he didn't trust her, he also didn't trust anyone else; there had been no reason to as of yet. Even if he wanted to believe that Nozomi meant well, or even Minerva for that matter, so far all he had seen since interacting with just these two people were bureaucratic tactics and the run around in just about every situation. He liked things straightforward and honest, and quite honestly, in Nozomi's case he had a feeling she would kill him faster with a smile on her face and claim it as her 'cause' rather than discuss things out. Minerva was a different matter, not giving off the vibe that she was a sociopath, but still presenting a current dilemma of seeming too coy and playful. He had to admit, he could certainly use some lightening up, but Lex wasn't keen on too much silly antics; he left that behind long ago in his past lives.

He tried not to be too harsh on the new girl, humming in spiraling distraught as he wondered why he tended to be so hard on people before he finally let it fade from his thoughts for good for the time being. "Yes, we need to go see her, it's to make sure we cover our basis and keep her from trying to kill us later. Technically, nothing's stopping her from doing that even after I send her the message, but I'd like to believe when you show some gratitude to people, you're more than likely to be spared. And I highly doubt your delicate, you wouldn't show up in such a dangerous place like Eldrazi if that was the case." he exclaimed, adjusting his goggles on his face as he steered towards the floating island in the sky, thinking about Minerva's words that seemed to only confirm what he was just thinking a few seconds ago. 'I need to do something about my attitude towards her playful manner... she might get the wrong impression if I'm too harsh to her...' he thought. He was sure she was a smart woman, she would understand quickly that he wasn't really the one to 'joke' around, but all the same, he made a mental note to keep from being crude, after all, she opted to help him.
