Piano music filled the surrounding area of the lake. It was bight and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. A gentle breeze blew through the small valley withing the forest that contained this lake. IT had been so long since Zen had been here. He stood in the middle of the lake, eyes closed as played a simple song on prismatic piano keys that hovered in front of him.

It was his day off from paperwork and training others on how to use kido properly. He wore a white, long sleeve, button-down shirt, black semi-formal pants, and black shoes. A slightly odd choice for someone that was planning on training fairly soon. He chose this place to train at because he knew no one lived nearby, if the training got out of hand there would be minimal damage.

He didnt know what was so special about this area. It felt so full of energy to him, it had great acoustics, you could hear his piano from miles away. Then he remembered, this is where it happened, not only once but twice. His Shikai, his Bankai, this was where it all happened. It was nearly 500 years since he got his Bankai, yet it felt almost like yesterday at the moment.

His mind wandered as he stood in the middle of the lake. Bright wisps of light floated around the surface of the lake as his spiritual pressure started to flood the area. Those that entered could definitely tell this was the pressure of a captain, well a former one.

58 - Shocking Training! Young Captain vs. Old Captain: Can an old dog learn new tricks? JCRrxmK

Artist: Poets Of The fall - Song: Carnival of Rust - Word Count: 473

Whistling lightly to himself the young Captain made his way down the lake front path, he had given the duties for today over to his Vice to handle so she could build relationships with her squad mates and honestly he needed a few hours to himself, what with all of his new duties stopping him most days to actually go out and enjoy the nice weather. Today though the paper work would wait for him, his temple throbbing slightly from the thought of the mountain that piled up each day when he woke up until when he went to sleep.

exhaling lowly the young boy released his tension from the daily stress of his job, he had signed up for this knowing it would get this way and a lot of work would need to be done before he could actually make a change but he felt like things were starting to click. His squad had all come together, admittedly it was rough at first with so many egos in one small space accepting a young boy as their new boss but in the end Carter had rallied the troops and felt his squad was closer now than it had been before he came.

Without missing a beat or tripping him up the wave of spiritual pressure washed over him, the source was a man standing in the middle of the lake he was walking beside. He was standing so resolute and stoic he almost thought the man a statue or was meditating but if that were true his pressure wouldn't have rushed out like that for no reason. As soon as he made this realization he heard the soft noise of a piano being carried along the wind toward him, the wordless song vibrated the air around him before drifting onward. It was more than enough to peak his interest into what this man was doing out here, almost at peace unconcerned with the world. At first Carter was concerned for the man releasing his spiritual pressure but he remembered why he himself had come here, no one around for miles. The man was most likely training in some way and needed space so he wouldn't possibly harm others.

The white haired boy could respect that, so he stopped in his tracks and looked out toward the man, the boy's white captain robes swaying in the light breeze. His right hand came up in greetings before he hollered out to the man to make himself known, knowing the man wouldn't have noticed him unless he saw him because the angelic shinigami didn't give off a spirit pressure like every one else. He appeared almost to be a normal human, "Nice day we're having out isn't it?" he yelled out, making himself known.

Zen kept playing as he heard someone great him. He didnt respond at that moment as he was still playing, a piece of music shouldn't go unfinished, it would be disrespectful for the one that spent so much time working on it. He did find it strange the he couldnt feel the person in his area. Well now he felt a very faint disturbance, but something that if he lost sight of them it would disappear again. The man was wearing a captain's uniform, maybe it was the new captain people were talking about

When he finished the song the lights and music stopped, as well as his spirit pressure. He wasnt performing, so he restrained it closer to his body. He walked calmly towards the other male, his steps causing ripples on the lake's calm surface. His demeanor was calm and peaceful, it fit nicely with his attire, formal yet inviting. He stepped onto the ground, taking a look at the young captain.

He smiled at him and bowed politely at the young soul "It is a pleasure to meet you Captain. My name is Zen, I am the 3rd seat of squad 3." he said as he returned upright and looked at him. He was indeed very young in appearance, he probably die at a young age, which was fairly sad. Though he couldnt feel his spirit pressure, he also assume that he couldnt be that old. Zen was 650 years old, he had seen so many come and go, if someone like this kid had the ability to become captain and was fairly old Zen might have heard about it.

"What brings you to this place captain? Very few knows this lake is here, and even less stumble upon it." he said with a genuine curiosity at what such a fresh captain was doing out here, so far from the Seretei.

In all honesty the young captain was happy when the music stopped. It was beautiful, in no way did he dislike it but it made him sleepy. With the quick blinking of his eyes and a rub to his cheek he managed to wake himself up a bit, pushing the drowsiness from his mind, defogging it. With that done his right hand would come away from the cheek, brushing the still red and puckered scar he had obtained from the war in Iceland when he killed a demonic commander. The scar still throbbed with the demonic taint captured inside, his angelic body purging the last remnants of it slowly.

That was the only mark able to be seen on his being as he stood there, looking up at the former captain. He was currently the 3rd seat of squad 3 but in decades past he was the captain and he went by the name of Zen. Carter had read his file as well, proficient in noise based attacks hence the noise of the summoned piano. He was asking why carter was here, how he had found such a secluded place and the small captain smiled, a flash of bright straight white teeth shining for a moment before he answered, " Well..... To be frank I'm avoiding work. It's just been so much paper work since I started that I gave myself the day off and I decided to get lost in the forests before going back to the grind so I guess the honest answer is that I found this place on mistake." he answered, nodding his head in a sagely manner as if he had given some profound advice, the boy could be quite quirky at times without even knowing it.

" Erm.. Excuse me Zen I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Carter, new captain of Squad Seven. What brings you out to this place?" he asked, hoping the man would answer saying he was training in private, Carter would love to train with an ex captain, to show his own skill and learn something from a former great. The possibility to train was always a good one for him, his golden eyes gleaming with light for a split second before he calmed himself and waited for the man to respond.

Zen chuckled at the way the young captain spoke and acted. He acted as if he was wise beyond his yeas, which could be true, age is merely a number and wisdom doesnt always follow the aged. It was nice to hear that Carter was taking a break from all the paper work one would think that shinigami get to go on all the cool missions and kill hollows and demons, but it wasnt like that all the time. There was so much paperwork. Now that there was more technology there isnt so much physical paperwork, but in the past there was.

"I remember. Back in my day we had to carry so much paper. Now with technology that has been drastically cut down. No more 200 pound stacks of paper." he said with a chuckle. "And I wouldnt say that you found this place by mistake Captain Carter. This lake has a history of drawing people to it." Zen reached down into his right pant pocket and pulled out a long, deep blue conductors baton. From the feel of it Carter would know that this was Zen's Zanakuto. Zen turned around, his back to Carter, holing his Zanpakutō in the air smiling at it.

"This is the place where I was finally able to listen to Aurora. Not once, but twice. Im sure you know what that means." He was clearly referring to achieving his Shikai and Bankai here. It was quite odd indeed. One would say that it was probably just coincidence, but to Zen it couldnt have been pure chance, there was something about this lake that was connected to him and his Zan, but he needed to figure it out.

With his back still turned to the new captain he looked at the lake as he spoke "The lake probably called to you as well, perhaps to make both of us stronger." In the blink of an eye he flash stepped away, back to the center of the lake, looking at the captain on the shore. He hovered his Zanpakutō in the air before lightly tapping it, causing it to spin in the air. He lightly grabbed it stopping it, as he said "Hadō #58: Tenran"

As he finished those words a widening blast of wind was fired from his spot. As it went over the lake, it picked up water from the lake, creating a swirling storm of wind and water.
