Minerva

Song: Internal Flight - Artist: N/A - Words: 917

"Such quiet..."

The words that the Arrancar spoke were nigh emotionless, save for the hardly apparent disappointment in her voice. The only thing she could hear was the slight breeze, and the only thing she could feel was the quiet breeze that made her long, bright pink mane flow impressively like a stupid cape. At least, Minerva thought it was stupid. She had been told her hair was very elegant and impressive, but she didn't think so. It reached down to her thighs when it was still, far too long for her. At least, Minerva thought it was too long. Other people might not though, but she wasn't quite around other people all that often. She could hardly recall the last time she was around someone else, and even then, that was with another Hollow. This time, she was bound to be around some humans. Something other than her own kind for once.

But how did she get here from Hueco Mundo? The girl had been in the world of the living for about a month now. She wasn't entirely aware of how to travel from world to world, and so she was stuck in the realm of the living as a result. Minerva had more or less forced a weaker Hollow to take her to this world when it was looking for food. The only issue was that she couldn't find a way back now. Well, as a result, she managed to find her way into Karakura for the second time in her afterlife and refused to leave now. Humans fascinated her, as she hadn't seen them in forever. Approximately 500 years or so, give or take about a dozen and a few more or so. It really was nice to be around something she was familiar with.

Speaking of which, she was aware that most Hollows didn't retain their memory? Or was that Shinigami? Or anyone who passed away in general? The pink-haired wanderer wasn't exactly sure anymore. Maybe she could ask someone who passed by. It was fully possible they would know, but perhaps asking a random stranger about the afterlife wasn't exactly the smartest. Maybe she could find someone who specialized in dying? Yes, that would be preferred, if such a thing existed. Maybe it would be slightly less absurd than asking about how an individual retained their memories after dying. Yes, it sounded much less... crazy, than that. At least, Minerva thought it was less insane than that.

So the girl started walking down the deserted streets once more. She wondered if it was usually like this. Then again it was almost midnight, and a strange pink haired girl with 5 masks floating around her like they were didn't exactly look the most normal. If anything, Minerva felt it made her look a lot more suspicious. Or at least like she lacked some kind of common sense. If anyone had strange powers like she did, which she was sure there were plenty of those, then it would do them good not to have them floating around you at all times while you walked around in a pumpkin-esque dress with face shaped holes at various intervals in it. It didn't help that when you stared directly at those holes, occasionally a pair of glowing yellow eyes would open up and peer back at you momentarily before vanishing a swift moment later.

Well now she just looked creepy.

Perhaps she could try and look less harmless? Her face was about as harmless as it could get. It didn't stare creepily, just confusedly, as if the person staring back was something strange that she wished to know how it worked, or what it was like. They were oddly calming, despite the fact they held no emotion. Or so she was told. There was no hostility, and her masks didn't really move too fast or strangely. It was as if each one had a mind of their own. They would float and look at different things individually, almost as if they were admiring the scenery around them, even if it was just old and decayed buildings.

But for the most part, Minerva didn't really look all that threatening. Just a little off is all. Well, a little may be an understatement, but the young looking woman didn't really put too much thought into it. That wasn't exactly what her train of thought was particularly about right now. Rather, it was about the memories of those who passed away. When someone died, they lived on. Just in a different fashion. Minerva remembered her life when she initially died, but having lived 500 years made her mind slowly push those memories to the back of her mind. She could pull them up, but it took a lot of effort. They were all she had to cling to in that purgatory she was stuck in for almost 500 years, but they were a lot more messy and Minerva wasn't exactly sure if those were the exact memories she developed when she was alive. Given time though, she was sure she would remember them properly. Maybe finding some of the people that were in her memories would cause her to remember properly? Who knew. For now the eternally poker-faced Arrancar just walked casually through the streets of Karakura's slums, searching for someone she could hopefully ask these questions and receive at least a hint to some kind of answer. If not... well, she could always just eat them. Minerva was feeling kind of hungry, after all...

THE BEGINNING OF AN ERA

SAISEI
フェイクガール

The young man's black stare continued to focus on the tiny screen that plastered tiny words across his face. Saisei had seemed to have found himself lost within Karakura for seemed the third or forth time now since his arrival to the Human Realm. Being without his adoptive Father, Sagumi, seemed to leave him in quite the pickle now. Currently, the tiny words that continued to circulate in bright lights were a lackluster attempt at finding his way from the slums. However, this seemed a tad too... difficult, for someone so young. Huffing and puffing at the cellphone's glass surface, Saisei stretched and flopped backwards against the rough roads of Karakura's Old Slums.

"Hoooow unfortunate." A silent stretch met the gentle breeze of Karakura's late-summer weather, the boy's bright pink hues shaking violently despite the gentle wind. Flinging himself upward once more, he turned and took in his surroundings before letting loose yet another sigh. It seemed to Saisei that with each step he took through Karakura would leave him in an area he wasn't entirely too fond of. First it was the abnormal parks that seemed out of this world, now it was a slum that saw little attention ever since the main portion of the city was altered. Those that lived here were either of a long forgotten age, or, had no chance of keeping up with the economy in the heart of the city. Of course it was sad, but things were bound to happen.

For Saisei, the slums were a place that worried the young child. Knowing nothing of the world make it quite easy for someone to fall into the wrong crowd, let alone connect with others that may be in his own shoes. Nevertheless, it seemed that he was here for the time being given the midnight hour and lackluster cellphone searching that the Chi Human had attempted. Taking a long breath inward, Saisei laughed and shook his head before letting the situation quickly unfold. "I give up. Let's leave it at that." The happy go lucky boy turned and found himself moving down the empty street of the quiet slums.

Of course, this was what Saisei was hoping for. Nothing usually went the azure eye'd boy's way, so of course. Why would something as simple as walking down the street alone go the way he wished for? Unable to make it even meters forward, Saisei was met with a long figure that slowly found her way through the street, leaving the longest of pauses between each step that she took forward. The long-haired girl shined awkwardly under the faint street lights that intended on keeping the smallest of the population safe, a set of masks continuously circling around her form without end. Blinking, Saisei took a long look before rubbing at his eyes, making sure that the things that appeared before his eyes weren't entirely fake.

"No, no. She's real. This is real. Of course, right. Makes sense. Pink Haired Girl walking down the streets of the slums during the midnight hour. Totally safe." Though the poker-faced girl showed no real hostility towards to Saisei, the faintest of feelings began to itch away at the depths of his mind. She wasn't scary, but the scenery and time only furthered ones worried thoughts when it came to those they met in the wild. Even the cutest and smallest of girls were no exception at a time like this. Taking that into consideration, Saisei jogged forward before coming to an abrupt, jerking at his jacket awkwardly now that he was given a moment to think.

"You look lost. This isn't the nicest of places to be, y'know." Stumbling over his thoughts, Saisei smile beamed towards the girl despite the late hour and worrisome environment. The human was one of the last that would judge a person among the populace, he had no room to talk anyways. He was meant to be dead, he wasn't meant to be in such a place. Despite all of this however, Saisei lived while his parents had passed. The world was cruel, but he was given a second chance as a young boy. He needed to take it.

"Not that I really have room to talk... I'm not sure how I got here, but you know. I'm here. Do you need some help, or something?" The bright expression continued to linger as he questioned the odd girl, his fingers interlocking against his waist as he waited for her likely quiet response.
