» Name Of Character: Anenokouji Hoso

» Upgrading: Hoso has finally unlocked her shikai after 1,194 years of roaming the Soul Society, trying to just get her Zanpakutō to talk to her, to no avail.

» Why: Hoso is upgrading this because while she was traipsing the Wastelands, the Shinigami in search of carnage and bloodshed, met a new face; the face of a demoness. The two tangoed, showing off their particular "skillsets" to eachother, and they essentially bonded. Of her own volition, Hoso agreed to join the demoness in her occupancy of the dark, something she knew the Soul Society would frown upon, but that was merely fodder to her; which meant that she would need more power... The demoness offered her wrist to Hoso, testing her, to see if she could handle the black, acidic sludge like blood that flowed through her veins... To see if she could even survive the journey it made into her mouth, and down her throat. She survived. Given that Hoso seeks to avenge her mentor Retsu Unohana's death, and honor her former title of Kenpachi, she will do anything in order to do so. To Hoso, this is a wrung in the right direction.

» Extra: Given that Hoso has just now unlocked her shikai, she will be training in future threads to become able to wield such a newfound power, atop of the power gained from ingesting the blood of a demoness. All she knows now is the phrase to awaken her Zanpakutō, and what its Zanpakutō Spirit looks like. That phrase is "Puncture, Reikonshoumetsu."

» Zanpakutô Name: 霊魂消滅 Reikonshoumetsu

» Zanpakutô Appearance: The blade of Reikonshoumetsu is 137cm in length, with a tang length of 50 cm, and tsuka length over all of 50.8 cm. The blade’s polish is light, white, and its tsukamaki was onyx, with the hishigame being silver to match the tsuba. The kinko tsuba of the sword was silver, with cut outs on either side of the blade following traditional sayagata; the sukinoshi-mimi was raised above the blade plate, and its tang was kijimomo, tipped with silver kurijiri.

» Sealed Zanpakutô Power: When sealed, Reikonshoumetsu siphons some of Hoso's Reishi off of her, where it then essentially releases it at a high concentration, ergo "sharpening," the blade itself with the particles of Reishi. This causes the laceration damage of the sealed Zanpakutō to increase; a handy feature when the sword is drawn against enemies, or in close quarters combat.

» Shikai Release Phrase: "Puncture, Reikonshoumetsu."

» Shikai Appearance: Reikonshoumetsu's shikai is activated when Hoso vocally activates it. The blade of the nagamaki begins to pulsate, and Hoso's deep crimson Reiatsu begins to swirl around her, strangulating her figure like a boa constrictor captures its prey. This manifested Reiatsu then begins to take the form of a large serpent, with scales as black as night. For every black scale of the serpent, there were two of genuine, pure elemental silver. The onyx serpent, coiled around Hoso, rests its large head upon her left shoulder, with its mouth open, baring its black-stained fangs, from which virulent venom drips. As the Anenokouji woman is a strange one, her shikai is also: for when she speaks, it echoes her speech, in a deep warped tone.

» Shikai Abilities: Reikonshoumetsu's affinity is melee. Its techniques are labeled as "bites," considering that the manifestation of the spirit itself is a serpent. The primary ability of Reikonshoumetsu is lacerating (bleed damage), and toxicity (to be shown below). Given the length of the blade's tsuka and tang, the range and area of effect increases due to the overall reach of it in combat.

一度の噛ま・痺れ "Once bitten, paresthesia": {Duration, 2 posts --> Cooldown, 3 posts} Hoso's spiritual pressure squeezes and constricts the muscles of her foe; inhibiting the stimulation of the nerves beneath them, and narrowing the openings of arteries. This causes temporary numbness of the limbs and muscles of the body for 2 posts, with a cooldown of 3 posts. This ability is not paralyzing, merely numbing, meaning that while the opponent of Hoso feels no sensations, they still have their full range of mobility.

再度の噛ま・神経毒 "Twice bitten, neurotoxin": {Duration, 1 posts --> Cooldown, 4 posts} This ability affects the neurotransmitters in the brain, when Hoso manages to slice or impale her opponent. The blade of Reikonshoumetsu channels some of the Reishi it has stored into a dart like entity that is released on contact with blood and flesh. This entity finds its way into the bloodstream, targetting the dopamine pathways that regulate and modulate the perception of pain, creating a pseudo-endorphin instead, causing the opponent to be free of any pain they had been feeling. This ability is dangerous because it potentially causes opponents to become reckless in their endeavors, becoming the catalysts of their own demise, as they begin to bleed profusely. It has a duration of 1 post, with a cooldown rate of 4 posts.

三度の噛ま・細胞毒 "Thrice bitten, cytotoxin": {Duration, .5 post --> Cooldown, 30 posts} Hoso activates the third bite vocally. She gathers her Reishi, condensing it specifically at the tip of Reikonshoumetsu, like a viper's venom. This condensation also enables the length of Reikonshoumetsu to be altered at Hoso's will; shortening by 10 centimeters, or lengthening it by 10 centimeters depending upon how close Hoso is to her opponent. As she would with a surgical lance, or an intravenous needle used for injections, she pierces her target, and anything within the immediate vicinity has Hoso's venom spreading beneath the surface of their flesh, into the lymphatic system. This venom briefly disables the metabolism, penetrating the cells and causing temporary necrosis; while also inflicting immense pain. The duration is .5 posts, meaning that it lasts for no longer than 30 seconds, before it's attacked and dissolved by the antibodies in the immune system of the opponent. It then has a cool down rate of 30 posts, meaning Hoso can only use it sparingly.

I'm fine with the upgrade itself since you earned it, but I'm just wondering where is the actual Shikai? I mean, I understand you are trying to steadily have her fall into it, but I'd recommend having something written up as I think she deserves it. And are you also applying for any tier upgrades?

Approved. I'll give this character a boost to 3-3 and they can train up their shikai in some threads until they reach 3-1 and get an actual, usable shikai. As usually shikai is approved at 3-1, but since you are training for it, I'll allow for a period to adjust and get used to it.
