Mirja, The Mad Wolf

The World, was her oyster. Or something like that. Mirja never really understood what that phrase meant. Oysters were pretty small to be her world, unless there were a race of hyper gigantic oysters that made up entire worlds and she was just a tiny little oyster spec to be eaten by someone who liked seafood, and then puked into a massive intergalactic toilet later when they realized the oyster was not prepared properly. Still, she was really getting off topic here, and needed to get back on topic, stat. So she did. The topic she got back on, was the icy tundra in front of her.

The fight with Demonica made her aware that she needed more in the way of physical endurance. She needed to become stronger, more stamina...y, so she could use her Shining Ursa Empress form to it's fullest potential without having to rely on someone else feeding her to approach that. And so she had returned to Norway and had marked out a massive track of land. Roughly twelve point eight square miles of snow-covered wasteland, to be exact. And it wasn't technically wasteland, if someone ever managed to get rid of the billion tons of snow that perpetually hung over the place, it'd be nice. However, real estate aside - different from fake estate which was just a cardboard cut out of a house - she had some work to be doing.

Twelve point seven miles was not a random distance. It was how far she could run in a minute, at Mach Speed. She had flags set out at each turning point, and so now she could sufficiently train her Mach Speed running and subsequent endurance with sustaining that speed without worrying about going to far or hitting something she wasn't meant to hit. She had marked out a clear area, and was prepared to run. Of course, it wasn't just blithe running for the sake of, this was training to prepare for a style she had found on Caanan's computers. It looked like a style kept very much under wraps and only taught to people who could handle the strain needed to use it. It was called the Plus Ultra style, and reading the advanced techniques of it, she knew she would need a lot more than she had currently. Hence the mach speed running. And right now, she wasn't just going to run for a bit.

She was, despite the possible danger inherit in it, going to run as far as she could before her legs felt like jelly, her lungs felt like vices, and she could not sustain the Mach Speed any longer. Then she would recover, and do it again. There were other things on the way to help prepare her for even greater, her grueling runs, but they were custom made and so getting them wasn't easy. Which left her with the old school manner of just running. And so, she began.

Mirja, The Mad Wolf

With the wind in her hair, and the snow splattering across her face sharp enough to cause even Mirja's ultradense dermals to feel the chill and the bite, she was content. This, was were she belonged, this was where she was meant to exist. Speed was in her nature, and she embraced her nature whole heartedly. Running at Mach Speed across the Tundra, she paid no mind to what she was going to do to turn until the flag came rushing up to her from the distance. It then occurred to her that trying to turn at this speed would probably break her leg, so she slowed and stopped as she got to the flag.

It was a good idea to get into that rhythm. It would allow her to judge her remaining stamina every flag, and give her a moment to think. She couldn't think when she was embracing her destiny, it just felt too good. Tapping the flag, she set off for the next one. She could do two circuits before feeling the burn, and probably another two after that, if she pushed it. And pushing it was exactly what she was going to do. She wanted to be able to sustain herself at this speed, so she could go faster. Faster was her desire, faster was her life. Faster was what she was born to do.

She couldn't remember when she had started seeing speed as an emotional outlet, starting feeling content while smashing the sound barrier, feeling the world under her feet caress her as she blazed past. It was something that had always been there, and only come into fruition as she evolved to get faster than she had ever been, faster than she would have considered possible, before her personal evolution.

The ground crunched beneath her feet, as she soared on wings of fire towards her next goal. It was probably a good job she was not a car, or something that would produce sufficient friction to melt the snow, otherwise her runs would be an ecological crisis. As it was, she just plowed the snowbanks out of her way and ran unobstructed from some white stuff on the ground. It was no worry for her, no problem, it parted as easily as the air did. Which, wasn't really that easy at this speed, but still, it parted and that was the whole point.

Far too soon, the next flag rose it's head, and Mirja stopped at it, before carrying on with narry a moment to think. She wasn't in the mood to think right now, it was something she wanted to avoid for the moment and just feel, just be instinctive. Wash away all her troubles in the snow and the speed and the silence of super sonic speeds. She was being a bit childish by running away from her problems, that she would admit, but between Stefan and the Gotei problems and everything else, she couldn't handle problems right now.

Mirja, The Mad Wolf

Around, and around, did she run. Only stopping to turn at each flag. She was lost in the movement, lost in the beauty of her rut, a large, deep cut in the snow showing here form and running time. And it was beautiful. But eventually, she had to stop, her legs unable to sustain herself any longer. Food and rest, was what she needed. There was pushing herself beyond her usual limit, and then there was neglecting her health for this style. So, sweating even in the sub-zero temperatures, she returned to her house, and did her bed ritual before crashing.

She was woke the next day by a parcel being delivered. She was in one of her cabins in the middle of a Tundra, and had expected to have to go collect, but they were true to their word, and delivered to her doorstep. Which was pretty dam awesome. She opened the box, and put on the bodysuit that had been delivered. It was a bit hard to get into, she'd never worn a bodysuit before, and it was heavy - even to her - but not to a point that would damage her body. Just something to weigh her down and make it even better for long range endurance. She jumped a few times to get the feel for it, and then nodded to herself. She had done right getting them from the guy she went to. She wondered how Mach Speed would go down in this, and so she finished breakfast, and went out, fwoosh like a lightning bolt.

The bodysuit was restraining, making it harder to run, heavier to get going, but at the same time, she liked it. There was something about being held back from your potential and adding in what you needed with sheer guts and tenacity, that appealed to her. If she wasn't who she was, she'd restrain herself all the time, so she could push beyond it, become greater, a better Mirja who was always improving, and then stuffing their improvement under the carpet for more restraints, more improvement, more speed! She was kind of addicted to the speed, it seemed. Before, she had a handle on it because she didn't indulge, but now she was losing herself. Which was not a problem, since herself was a monstrous wolf girl that needed to throw away the relationships of everyone she had ever met or cared about to stand by an evil murderer in hope that his claim to have changed was a real one.

*tsk* couldn't she get through one training session without having a mental breakdown? Her instability was a nightmare at times. She needed to, at very least, just straight up talk to Stefan, make sure to really get to see if he had changed. Because if he could change, she could as well. She would throw off the mantle as a Demon Wolf, and stop being such a murderous bitch to all of Caanan's men. Throwing it to the winds, she ran on, and on.

Mirja, The Mad Wolf

A week later, after her constant running, increasing the distance she ran more, and more until she was clocking over forty square miles of tundra, several times over. It was quite the thing, but she had never managed to get away. The memories still haunted her, and so she decided to go do the third stage. It claimed that people died or went insane from the demands. They were weaklings though, humans could barely hold it together when they were put under stress. Also, she had so many things clawing at her psyche, what was a bit more between friends?

Aquatic Abyss, demanded submersion. The intense pressure, and the water being so much harder to move in than air. It would cause massive advancements in one's physical endurance. And the ability to hold your breath as well, unless you wanted to drown. Which was not a terrible thing really. Nobody would miss a poor wolf girl just vanishing into the darkness, never to return. But she was going to return. Fuck people who wanted her to die, or disappear. She was going to get stronger, grab live by the balls, tear them off and throw them at Ibiki. And then punch Stefan for good measure.

Her life had gotten so complicated these days, and this was what the week she had taken was to do. She found herself a deep, cold lake, and jumped in, her density and the bodysuit sinking her to the depths quickly, and allowing her to hit the lake bottom. The cold bit at her immediately, and she knew if she was anyone other than who she was, hypothermia would set in quickly and they would just be one more dead body at the bottom of the lake. But that was not Mirja's fate, so she began a fast, hard, and brutal martial drill, pushing the water aside with raw muscle power and focusing her muscles to deal with the pressure of the lake so she wasn't crushed by it. It was a unique training, she had never felt anything like it, a kick was, between the water and the bodysuit, was a nightmare to pull off, she needed much more force.

But her lungs stared burning too much, her vision began to dim, and so she threw herself out of the lake with sheer muscle, and landing hard on the ground, gasping hard. She could tell why people got dead or broken from this, but she was not going to let this go. Catching her breath again, she stabilized, and slipped back in. This became life for her. She spent a week in The Lake, fighting it, learning it, become one with it. And, of course, running in it. Mirja loved speed, and even underwater that could not be taken away from her. The problems she had swirling in her mind would not go away, but they became less relevant as the lake became more. When she felt as comfortable in the lake as she did out of it, she knew it was time to really begin the style of the Gods. Plus Ultra.
