Music has always been part of Ida's life. It was how she discovered her power, how she met a good majority of her friends, and how people know her by. Music is Ida's staple, and without it she would be nothing.

Which is why we now find Ida in Karakura. She was recently doing some street music, trying to get some money on the side when an owner of a dive bar approached her. Apparently, the woman had thought that Ida had some skill and wanted her to play at her bar. This would have been Ida's first gig so there was no way that she could turn down an offer like that, so she went.

The place was known as the Devious Devil, a dive bar that is catered to the more rich and powerful, having the prices be absurdly high but the quality matches. The entire place was roughly 3,000 sqaure feet, harboring 5 floors and an open space in the middle of the place and a staircase to either side. Right smack in the middle was a circle stage, where one would catch a glimpse of Ida, tuning her bass, her legs quivering a bit. She was nervous. Never having a taste of playing on a big stage like this besides back home, Ida didn't know what to expect. What if the crowd didn't like her? What if they just sat and stared at her the entire way through? What if.... she was only mediocre at best?

She abruptly slapped both of her cheeks, the sound echoing through the hollow building. No regrets.

She stood up and tapped the mic. All eyes were on her. "Hey. I'm Ida, Ida Kanzuki. I'm new here....well actually, this is my first time doing something like this. I hope you enjoy what I got."

The Devil went to Karakura [Open/Kai] Shiroe_from_log_horizon_by_r_set-d8lsuc5

"I heard that this girl is quite good from the owner and having been a regular at this particular bar for quite some time I can tell you that you can trust the owner when she says such things, Mr. Lowelen.", the rich benefactor spoke to him as if he cared for what he had to say about the bar they currently resided in or its owner. To be quite honest, Zunza really didn't understand why he was here outside of the fact that it was a rather significant favor to Johan, and even then he would rather be nose deep in a book listening to classical Sugiuran music. Still, this was an important meeting and he put on a faux smile as he put on act for the rich, fat, and deplorable human being in front of him. "I'm sure the owner is a lovely woman and thank you for extending this olive branch for a meeting. I myself am humbled that you would come looking for me instead of the other way around.", Zunza said lying through his teeth. He knew for a fact that this man only wanted to exploit the resources available by doing business with the Western Sugiurans and the Western Kingdom was vastly interested in branching out to the other species of the realm they were adjacent to.

This was of course his fault for suggesting that they start making alliances like the North did, trying to gain allies for when, and if they needed them. Johan, a Sugiuran supremacist to be sure, didn't really want to do that and prove the West's strength in his own way. Which wasn't a faulty way to look at things, but it was also what was handcuffing the West's hands from accomplishing similar, or more glorious goals. It had taken days of debate, days of petitioning, and days of factual evidence gathering for Zunza to get here to Karakura town only to be sat down with a man who had been hand picked by Johan as a potential ally. More than likely he had been hand picked to deter Zunza from further action to request aid from the non-Sugiuran people, and though Johan thought himself as cunning as Zunza....Zunza was more tactful than he might display when dealing with subjects of political or economical importance. So, he swallowed his pride as a Sugiuran and listened to the man blubber about his worthless trade deals that were clearly lopsided for his business and screwed the opposing company that he had metaphorically plundered out of important resources to turn himself a profit.

"All well and good, but what do you have to offer Lord Johan of the West other than currency. Your money will have little pull in our realm as we have our own currency and economy.", Zunza spoke with poise and dignity, something that the businessman in front of him lacked in spades. Yet, the man didn't stop for a second to let him know that his company had fingers in major textile production, weapon manufacturing, and pharmaceutical companies. All things that impressed him and if it had been from any other person would have persuaded him to start doing business with him right away, but being someone who could read a situation well, he could tell without a doubt that this man was a swindler. His stories painted a haunting visage of what would happen to his home land if he accepted any deal on behalf of the West. Forests cut down, wild life hunted, and people being exploited all for the all mighty dollar. Things that he just couldn't stand and things he just wouldn't accept. His vision of a strong Sugiuran Kingdom with strong ties to the realm outside of their own would not start with this man and that made him sigh. It would more than likely be a few months before he could persuade Johan to let him go out once more and find a suitable partner for their glorious nation. He was indeed, back at square one he supposed.

That is when a voice filled his ears and his eyes instantly moved from the fat, boring degenerate in front of him to the young woman standing on the stage looking out at the audience which was vast. She announced herself, a surprising thing as musicians were usually announced by an announcer of some kind. Still, he could see her jitters from up on the balcony of the second floor, and he instantly began to relate to her. "Everyone has to start somewhere...", Zunza said as he stood up from the table without giving the rich man the time of day and began to walk down to the bottom floor, walking past businessman and waiters alike. Watching her stand on stage reminded him of his first display of magical genius in front of his family, he had been a ball of nerves that day, and much like he had been she was too. He marched by, pushing his way through several people and taking a seat in the vacant front row, a table by his lonesome as he gazed up at her expectantly. He was intrigued to say the least, as he had never really paid much attention to this realms music as this was only his second outing here. In fact, if she had spotted him moving through the crowd, she might think he was some kind of cosplayer, as his clothes were mostly rustic, but yet elegant. A large cloak obscuring most of his body and a heavy looking staff in his hands, he might have appeared to her to be out of some kind of fantasy novel set in the middle ages, but in reality these clothes were common from where he was from.

Maybe not as elegant, after all he was the head of a household in the Western Kingdoms after all. He watched her in anticipation, wondering just what sort of majestic music she would play to make this dull trip at least somewhat enjoyable.

ENTER KAI LAM'S POST

With very little free time available to him, Kai regularly found himself spending it sleeping or doing Vanguard related paper work. Having long since been freed of the restraints placed on him from working for a private business, he at least was able to concentrate entirely on his new occupation: Northwest Warden. Though significantly different from his old career as a high-powered corporate business liaison, to say this new position had less paper work would be a lie. Between meetings and missions and teaching, much of Kai's time was spent signing documents and reading classified mission briefs. Tonight though was a bit special as he'd managed to find a couple hours to himself, the first of which he spent wandering the streets of Karakura awash with the glow of billboards and lights radiating from the interiors of buildings.

No briefcase, no work. Kai felt a fantastic freedom in walking aimlessly, his gaze flitting from restaurant to restaurant and bar to bar. It didn't take long for him to eventually settle on a large multi-story bar with the words Devious Devil emblazoned across the concrete above its doorway. Thankfully because of his significant personal wealth and current position in the Vanguard, Kai had no trouble getting a first floor seat without a reservation, albeit in the back. Almost immediately after taking his seat a waiter showed up and listed out a long series of specialty drinks and foods, though all Kai ordered was a glass of single malt scotch whiskey. Sitting back, Kai relaxed into his chair and occasionally sipped his drink as he waited for the music to start. The building's warmth, backdrop of chatter between friends and business associates, and dull lights almost caused the Vanguard Warden to drift away, eyes closed. Before he could though, a young woman introduced herself on stage and prepared to start the show. Leaning forward, Kai's burning green gaze set on the seemingly nervous musician and waited for her to begin.

Ida didn't wait to get right into it.

Granted, she's been planning out what she was going to play for the past 30 minutes or so. First impression are everything at a place like this, with people with a whole lot of money deciding if your skill could be good enough for them. A possibility for a big shot producer at a label being right here wasn't that low, so she had to go all out.

The main criteria for what she was going to play was if it was empowered or not by Bard. While she could use the reishi around here to make the crowd enjoy her music more, the fact that multiple people would notice squandered that idea quickly. She was going in with a more jazzy approach, as, surprisingly, she wasn't told by the owner what she could and could not play.

Cue music. [ OOC NOTE: That means play the link up top here. ]

She went away at the strings, with every tap of her foot creating a booming sound thanks to her Full Orchestra. This song, for it's time, was old. Washed away about 400 years ago due to modern tastes changing, but she loved it. Back then music was in it's prime, with a handful of gems popping up every few months ago. Anyways, Ida played, she played her heart out. Anyone around her could notice that she played with passion; every flick of her wrist filled with love, every shimmy of her hand filled with determination, every tap filled with power. And then she started to sing.

"It's not a game. I'm not a robot AI challenging you~" Her voice, while not sounding like a goddess or anything like that, it was good. It was soft on the ear while still having it's impact, especially when paired up with the music.

"I'm not a phantom. I'm in your face and, I'm here to see it through~"

The Devil went to Karakura [Open/Kai] Shiroe_from_log_horizon_by_r_set-d8lsuc5

The young Magus tapped his feet to the beat as the young lady played her heart out up on the stage and he couldn't help, but respect that to be completely honest. After all, if you were going to do something you might as well go for broke right? Her mystical music, an ability probably making her sound like a whole band while she wasn't, made Zunza cock an eyebrow. He had wondered if the outsiders had powers that were comparable to the powers of the Sugiuran people, but most of the individuals he had met during his travel here were nothing special. The majority were barely even spiritually aware! So to see someone flawlessly wielding a power that he had never seen before like this, it kind of made him excited. The prospect of seeing new and potentially incredible abilities on display for the first time was nothing less than an adventure into uncharted waters and in uncharted water knowledge could be obtained.

He found himself becoming more and more curious, not enough to disturb her performance, but enough for him to flirt with the idea of removing his coveted glasses to see just how she was managing to do this. He, however kept his glasses on. Refusing to reveal the fact that he was a Sugiuran this far out from his dimension and also to insure that her performance would not be ruined if she glanced at him with his eyes taking on their true form. Still, his curiosity was killing him, and the urge to ask so many questions passed through his head. At that moment, a waitress arrived, and placed a cup of water in front of him, though he barely noticed her arrival as he was so enthralled with the young ladies performance. "Sir, we have a wide varieties of wines and spirits here at the Devious Devil...can I perhaps get you something off of our menu?", the young lady said as she gave him the most courteous smile that she could possibly give him. More than likely she was a career waitress who had failed out of some college and was living check to check, but he couldn't tell from just looking at her.

"Ix vhek melat...motan whag?", Zunza said in his native tongue, unaware that he was no longer speaking the dominant language of this city or even this country. He paused, covering his mouth as the young waitress looked at him in confusion. "A glass of wine wouldn't be too bad...sorry.", he said with a nervous chuckle as the young waitress nodded her head and proceeded off into the distance to get him his drink. He silently scolded himself for speaking his native tongue, after all it was suppose to be hush hush that we was here, and he didn't feel like explaining himself to random people if somebody caught on. He turned his attention back to the singer, he found his head leaning on his hand as his elbow came to the table, and a content sigh left his mouth as he allowed himself to just be swept up in the music.

As the girl began her performance, voice singing out and fingers strumming the strings of her guitar, Kai was woken entirely from whatever weariness he'd been feeling. Something about the music she was playing, or rather how she was playing it, sparked an interest in Jian Yijun. Having never been a music or artsy type, preferring to study and work in silence, Kai was surprised by his reaction to this Ida Kanzuki's show. He had no clue if this was normal music or something else, or even if it was being played and sung by a professional or amateur. All Kai knew at this very moment was she certainly seemed to have a gift. Not much could make his foot tap and cause him to lean forward across a table on his elbows, yet Ida managed it.

In fact, the rest of the crowd seemed just as entranced by Ida's music. Kai didn't detect anything fishy, it really did seem like she was just this talented. Realizing how dark the building had become, Kai called over a waitress and asked if they had any candles, to which she replied yes and quickly grabbed one from a back room. Once placed on his table, Kai created a small green fire at the tip of his index finger and lit the candle's wick, washing him and his table in a vibrant light not quite large or bright enough to distract anyone or disrupt the performance. His eyes matched the green brilliance of the flame, and his gaze remained trained on Ida as she sang and played her heart out. After everything he'd been through, Kai almost forgot this level of passion and strength could exist outside of war zones. The show was impressive indeed.
