The Flame Of Hope
Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road
No response to the short quip. Well, if Ulv was that small, she too would not like people pointing it out, so she let it go. Ibiki had enough to deal with, considering her roster of Captains to keep on line. An over-friendly muscle girl making jabs at her lack of height would be so unappreciated, Ulv felt bad even saying it. And besides, Ulv was flattered and elated by the fact that Ibiki had such passion and faith in Mirja, to speak such even after her death. This pride and this praise made her heart soar and she could grasp that feeling, use it as a kite uses an updraft.
"She does live in me. Her passion, and drive, her determination and her friends. They have been inherited, and I will put them to the best use"
Ibiki's next line was a confirmation of Ulv's thoughts. She knew that the saving of everyone was impossible, but it was not going to stop her simply because of something that minor.
"..." Before Ulv could speak, however, Ibiki carried on, and suggested an alternate path. Do not save it, but instead improve it. Do not strive to make everyone's life perfect, but strive to make everyone's life better. It was truly an enlightening thought that only Ibiki could make. Or so said her mind that was probably a little sycophantic to be trusted...still, it was a good point. The ability to better one's self by sending your ideas to another for refinement was the best part of existence. Nobody could ever perfect themselves, by themselves.
Hearing the order to mingle her energy with the warmth that comforted her as Ibiki released her own, she indulged in a few seconds of enjoying the power that Ibiki was putting out. it was familiar, because of it's signature and her own Resolve Flame. But also because of how she was always there for Mirja, even when Ibiki didn't know how Mirja felt about her. But this indulging wasn't going to last forever, and so eventually she reached inside her and cupped the flame of her soul. She stroked it, whispering and asking. To connect with her, to feel her resolve towards this goal and to ignite! To light up the darkness and burn the despair away! Feeling it, and being awashed with it's power, it was hard to remain calm. She couldn't help but get fired up and release all her reiatsu intermingled with her Flame.
The result was quite magnificent, as her energy took on a flaming appearance, flickering and crackling as the cave lit up like a sunny day and an intense feeling of Hope filled it. A drive to not only see tomorrow, but to make it the best tomorrow that had ever been. With Ibiki's energy as it's mother, the energy did not shy away from rushing in the Devil Girl's direction, wrapping around her and intimately caressing her own energy output. Such synchronicity would usually be impossible, but this power was pretty much just a proxy from Ibiki, so it was almost as if she had spawned it herself. Were Ulv to explain what her power did, the description would probably ramble, say how she wasn't so sure, but how it made her feel good and so others too would feel good.
The Flame, brooked no such rambling round-about, and boomed it's power with every drop. It's ability to burn away negativity, to suppress the dark feelings of a soul and to give the feelings of progression and hope. Most people inside the Flame would be overcome with a desire to become better than they were, regardless of how good they were. For a woman with such a drive to speak a great deal, the silence was as heavy as her spiritual pressure. But at this point, she did not need words, for the flame said everything she ever could.
