ENTER THE DEPTHS

His feet slowly trudged through the area making note of everything. It was a perfect experiment area to test things. Hollows seemed abundant here and useful enough for him to conduct and see what he could locate. So far the design of the Runic based spells or perhaps magic was a better word. He'd figured out that he could, in the end, activate most of them easily. Creating them from memorization of the symbols. So the question was what kind of effects could he design here. Ghislain's body gave off the dark matter as the area around him constructed a building around his frame. He'd be hiding here and conducting his experiments for a while. Matter constructed something small yet comfortable for him as he drew sigil in the air with his finger. The effect would alter the light around him creating a concealment Rune. The effects had been tested slowly but it would take time. As he drew the sigil quickly and effectively. Ghislain's home quickly became part of the landscape and seemed to vanish. This building was a single room with equipment forming around him. He pulled out a small bit of paper and began scribbling notes down. The first test had been marginally successful. The rune he devised did the effect desired with the alterations brought to it. Concealing by bending the light and creating an illusionary effect of hiding. He hypothesized it could be broken through. With enough skill, someone could remove or even see through it. The question was where did the thresh hold for this begin. The house was the first test as the illusion seemed to make things believe a structure of equal value was there. He could see through these walls to give input as he wrote each note down neatly. The hollows seemed unable to comprehend or notice the surrounding effect. He rubbed at his chin not sure what else he could attempt the rune on. So the concealment rune did seem effective in a design capable of hiding a person similar to combat camouflage. There were no perfect or absolutes so it would depend on the user.

The Rune could work with Ginto allowing for another means of creation in that. He rubbed at his chin a bit as he observed further. Drawing the sigil of the rune again in the air making the mark quickly. He applied a dark matter bubble and sent it outside floating with the concealment rune. The movement did seem to do the trick as the hollows seemed more aware. Meaning that movement displaced the concealment at the moment. So it would be best used with something still and unmoving. Ghislain glanced outwards and spears came from the ground around the hovel. They were quickly concealed with a sigil of such as he ran his tests. The spear's appeared no different from the ground. The hollows impaled themselves on them but backed off. He'd not set out to kill the mindless beings here only to test. So the rune would work on still based weapons or structures. This was a handy bit of information to hold in the long run. They could conceal the home Vandenreich base with a rune. From what he could tell the rune could be put to a different energy source than his own.

Allowing for a form of customization for it. Ghislain enjoyed moments like these where he could sit and tinker. He studied many fields and tended away from damaging things. The Sigil of Concealment was a successful rune and could likely be used effectively. Writing his notes down on the topic slowly he ran his digits through it. Deciding he didn't want to overdo it here in terms of the experiments. The next one was a summoning based Sigil. It would allow him to summon things with the mark through a means of transportation. Himself included in this through the mark was required. Prior experimentation showed it only lasted a short time and wasn't effective for the long term. That was the case for summoning one's self but equipment and gear. The storage method of this rune acted very usefully. One hundred miles plus in distance. Though size did make a difference in the cost of energy. Meaning the larger the object a person would spend on summoning it. Certainly was a handy thing as he drew it into the air forming his lab-based equipment around him.

This was a promising Rune for it's the purpose of merely creating possibilities. He had a few others that were of course interesting. But the tests had only begun after all. Couldn't forget the science of it all and see through the continued tests. How much time could a concealment last drawn? It depended on a large part of stillness and energy output. The person could, in theory, remain hidden so long as they continued fueling energy. As for his use, he was using the energy of the world around him to continue fueling it. This place had excellent reishi and different types of energy swirling. So in the effect of this case, he could keep this up for a long time. Ghislain made a knight of Dark Matter appear as he drew the sigil of transportation or summoning. Before moving and drawing his sigil over outside the building. Making the creature vanish in an instant. It was akin to teleporting if he were to take a guess. But not perfect given you could see it coming and concealment was useless. Writing down in his notes he would need to continue these tests here. The concealment did seem to cut off the power to detect the target's reishi. Allowing for a true concealment but he did deduce that some could detect despite that. Nothing was perfect in that sense as he observed from his custom lab for now. To see what sort of experiments would allow him to continue.

The knight's formation did draw the attention of those beings. It didn't take long as he rubbed his jawline. One was ready to fire what appeared to be a cero which gave the chance to use the other rune. Ghislain had been working on a technique to disperse energy that he came into contact with. Being able to put all the energy back into the air around him. Not cleansing but more a sense of causing the energy to disperse around him. That wasn't the correct method as he observed the creation. Ghislainwatched the ceros and noted it's composition carefully taking details of it. The energy build-up and the way it was comprised was interesting enough. So the ideal method would be to cause the energy to do that if done correctly. Depending on how he handled it a rune could have been used. But he suspected that the runes weren't going to be useful in this situation. So it would require a more direct approach and method for using this technique. Ghislain's form appeared before the cero as he studied it's composition further. It wasn't slow but he had time to observe and consider. This was going to be problematic if he was wrong about how to perform this. One issue was he couldn't do anything else when performing this technique. Dispersing energy required a rather tricky method as he could already do it to kinetic force. It was best to experience this method first hand as he touched it. The energy hit his hand as he exhaled causing the energy to break apart at its core level. Ghislain was applying a pressure to it and channeling his power carefully. This in effect lets him deactivate energy attacks to an extent. Though the backfiring was he couldn't use any of his either at the time. Ghislain's eyes closed for a moment before drawing a symbol on the creature. The Rune of choice this time was binding. Chains shot from around the area around the rune impaling the creature on all sides. Ghislain's eyes observed calmly as the binding rune did work. Though it was only a single one and could be applied several times.

Intriguing was the best form of the word for this sort of experiment. Ghislain turned away before phasing through the wall of his building. Snapping his finger the binding broke as he sat down. Pulling out a journal making notes of the progress made. It could be indicated successful for the most part on the path fo four of them. The Sigil based system would certainly require a larger sense of depth. It was clear that combining certain symbols different results were possible. Bindings could perhaps be used as a trapping method. Even the type of binding, in theory, could be altered by combining the correct Sigils. His pen strokes continued making notes as his findings were more interesting. He'd certainly make a trip to that place in the future. He needed time in a sense in order to make out everything. Testing here was ideal but the question was what kind of runes could he stand to use. The trouble wasn't with execution or perhaps even the amount of them.

They held a versatile nature as they combined with his normal power. A thought seemed to strike him as he thought about it finally. What if the runes were designed around his dark matter capabilities. Presently he'd been designing this sigil and system for his people. But perhaps it was best to not do so just yet. Ghislain couldn't really say they could manipulate energy this way. So what if the runes were things he could do from his own body. He could activate them without the symbols being drawn. Or even set delay timers on some to go off at different moments. Manipulating the structure of them to bypass the issue of being detected. Ghislain knew for a fact this could strategically be very useful. Dark Matter was in its essence an unidentified kind of matter. So what if he could, in theory, do something with it allowing him to use his own skills more. Ghislain's theory went down on paper rather instantly. The only thing keeping it as a theory was him not putting it into practice. He could do all these things naturally through his power.

He began writing down the runes and sigils designing them as he got to work. It was time for him to begin the process of creating the beginning set of them. It wouldn't be done overnight nor would they be perfected. No such word existed as he paused for a moment. Regalia was a rare piece of equipment the Quincy could wield. But the truth of the matter was that he could do more perhaps. In fact though by combining the Runes he could allow himself to use a form similar to those Ginto. Ghislain had notes on the subject as he pulled out a set gently ran his fingers along the cylinders and put small bits of reishi in them. They began to go through decomposition and turn to ashes slowly as he glanced at his fingers. The trouble was his power acted as acid against these things. Making him different from the conventional beings. Ghislain leaned back in his chair studying the runes with a stern expression. Finishing one he extracted the rune from the paper forming it in dark matter. This didn't require drawing as the thing hovered above his right appendage's palm.

Slowly little purple orbs with black outlines came from it. Spiraling around the area as he smiled a bit. They were similar to fireflies in a way but seemed almost like wisps. His hand closed absorbing the sigil into his body allowing for later use. As the Anomaly perhaps this would be his power. To create these runes and sigils to release in combat. But not everything would be so simple as this was a trial and experimental phase. Learning things and studying them was important. One had to learn to crawl before they could walk. That was the law of this universe and many. The beginning was far more important than the end. This was a rather fascinating test as the wisps landed on his body. He looked outside at the hollows roaming around. His knight had long since disappeared so the next test. Was what kind of destructive potential did this sigil have?

Those little wisps moved through the air at a rather easily noticeable rate. Though they could go through objects and seemed to be rather quick. His notes continued as he made a deduction that the wisps would cause a minor explosion upon contact. But instead, they seemed to await a signal or input of some variation. Curious was the only thing that came to mind as he put out a soft pulse of energy. They started to hum giving off a buzzing noise similar to that of bugs. It wasn't until he brought his hand up and gestured in a certain way they imploded. The small explosion didn't do it justice. They sent pieces of earth and even his home flying into the winds. His rune of stealth had been shattered. The bugs themselves were fairly potent things capable of rather intense explosions. The question was what caused them to pass through solid objects. Upon further inspection, it would appear they could go through the ground and objects around him. But energy based fields brought them to a standby of sorts. Meaning a simple barrier could prevent them or even using one's reishi to form such. His frame stood still as a reishi of black and purple color formed around him. Ghislain's hood of a hermit almost like state remained upright. This was a problematic issue as his home had been destroyed for now. His study since departing from Angel to focus on the problem at hand. Had brought with it a level of discovery in the runic arts. Upon finishing his studies it had come into the understanding that presently things were effective enough. Ghislain knew runes pretty well and had a feeling advanced healing was possible. Past what even his stolen Medallion was capable of. This was a problem though as he considered this device as holding on to the past. Baskerville was a name he often times wrote on things. He would need time before he could complete anything out here. The runes were promising but would require a building block. Test runs among other things were needed to even get started.

This was perhaps a good place to start and walk away from the current process. Ghislain's digits ran along his lips before he sighed. The building began rebuilding around him as he implemented the seal again. His hands went to the papers of things he had concluded in the current situations. Quincy was certainly fading out of present possible outcomes. Rune possible outcomes seemed to be the only capable thing. Angel's designs came through his mind again they were far too complicated. Replication wasn't possible as the two scientists who built her were skilled. Ghislain had gained some data and remembered a previous thing. Something built long ago in a way that the Quincy held. Technology at present would require him to find things. Did he dare take a country for his own in order to get resources? Did Ghislain follow suit of the previous problems? No this wasn't required at the moment since he could create his own. But the trouble was figuring out how to do it secretly. Ghislain didn't know how to do this sort of thing secretly.

Some things were best left to the authors of their own journies. Ghislain leaned back slightly in the spot he sat at. This didn't require an immense amount of effort or gauge for most to see. His hand closed the book of notes as it vanished. The book seemed to turn into a black mist. Appearing to flow into his body almost as he rubbed his chin. This problem did require a more indirectly solution. The Vanguard could use his services if they selected to do so. But the matter was, of course, getting people ready. The creation and details were always a bit of a pain. But he could focus on the battle process at another time period. For now, it best to focus his intention on the Runes and perhaps the cultivation of something new. Awakening the technique of channeling energy efficiently for others. The mark he wore on his head to store energy to release at a later time was handy. But he felt for certain perhaps he could find something new.

The Mark of Eris had been fascinating to confine and study. It was a powerful corrupting mark the ate away at the user. Perhaps a similar mark could be created. But not in a way that harmed the user so much as acted as a focusing lens. Though that may have been harder to accomplish in the long run. Ghislain could figure things out as he stood up from his home now. It slowly being absorbed back into his shadows. This was perhaps the best way to go about things from here. It was time for him to journey and find a use. Containing the Seal of Eris though pretending to destroy it before Sofia. The mark's power didn't interest him so much as its functions did. He kept in a sealed device at the moment for studying purposes. Sometimes enemies had to be studied in order to truly understand. What did the world understand the situation as a whole? Did they truly comprehend the Queen of Madness? Or was she something similar to Yhwach that remained in the realm of fantasy and mystery. That was what one had to consider when discussing her.

He couldn't have his people build military or help them in that regard. The truth was the Quincy were on there own at this point. The Emperor while he belonged with them truthfully. He knew it and so did Sofia before she'd vanished and had often asked him such. But this wasn't the time for such a thing as the true battle was coming. His Rune testing was complete and the old sigils worked fantastically. They would be his form of the offensive against things. Perhaps even defensive in a way as this allowed him to channel his power. Dark matter was an Anomaly in of itself unknown forms never seen. But it did have promise for something could be done. Ghislain knew this much better than most. So perhaps it was time to begin working on his plans. To make something formidable enough to handle small situations. It was time for him to begin the next steps of evolution for things. If the Vanguard declined his return he'd been left some tools by a former man. Someone who'd been building things and got the materials he required. Factories and other such constructions existed within Thailand where he'd set some private things up. Tsubasa Unabara and he'd met on travels and the ladder left him information. Things he could use to begin constructing something to handle Mana and her forces. Ghislain's breath stopped for a moment as he glanced at his hand. Dark Ginto was an idea or concept but he had something more in mind. Operation Valhalla would be the name of it and it would be hard to complete. He'd been building and constructing it slowly off the grid. But perhaps he could unveil it soon. Nozomi, Nif, and even Yhwach to an extent. He was following an example he didn't care for. But it would have to work for the moment as he would slowly begin it's construction privately. The Rune's were complete and this process wouldn't be easy to finish. But perhaps in some ways, it would be fine so long as he believed in himself. The journey was the most important part of anything involving this as he glanced at his medallion for a bit longer.

Designs for a specialized type of military unit known as a form of robotic form and the other thing. Ghislain could use his bankai to give them something or perhaps he'd use it to complete the city. That place required a potent spark of former technology. A way to build a city capable of going into the air and see and building from there. That was his objective to create a different world of his own design. It was time for him to begin the operation and prepare things in quiet. The Quincy would need to play a role in the next thing to come. So Ghislain's first duty and occupation were to make the most of what he had. The Nomadic Quincy didn't resemble the Emperor any further. He could teach the young and show them the path. But outside of that, he wouldn't be able to give much more. Ghislain could teach them and gather them up to prepare. They'd been exterminated and wiped out over and over. Did he have the heart to bring Quincy children to harm against Mana?

No, it didn't exist within him to carry that burden anymore. He could educate them and show them the path. Teach them what was to come and had happened previously. War's had come and gone over and over. So Ghislain had stepped into battle time and time again. Against his will, as he gripped his pendant and softly closed his eyes. Before stepping back into a vortex of Dark Matter. Vanishing from this place having discovered the sigils needed. To develop a Runic Dance that would empower the coming journey. Something to help them rebuild a culture and teach them. Education and growth could be obtained away from the Vandenreich. Ghislain knew this to be a fact with his old skills. But he needed a place to refine and grow his talents further. He wasn't nearly skilled enough to do battle against the likes of Mana again. Ghislain's power remained undaunted and changed through the years. Time was the only thing left in the essence as he would search for someone to help him.

To help him overcome and knock down these walls blocking his dreams and ambitions. Ghislain still had a fire in him to show himself as something capable. To come out of where he needed too. To bring about his desire for growth and perhaps more so something to show himself still alive. Fading from this test site his power slowly faded. Leaving the runes and such to disappear from him being too far away. He could accomplish his goals and teach those of the next generation that wanted to learn. His hood going up as he departed this scene to move to the next. Perhaps in order to grow completely, Ghislain could truly become something more. Abandoning his Bankai Medallion for this cause made sense. It was time for the Quincy to leave behind the bitterness of that era.
