"Yeah, I'll be good, Ma."—Solhammond» Family Loyalty:
If there's one thing about Sol that's true it's that he cares deeply about his family, he values them above all else and just wants to see them taken care of. The fact that his family have a substantial debt only adds to his worry. In his views they are the one bastion of goodness in the world, and he'd do anything to protect them. He'd even hurt others, badly if needed, so long as his family was safe. » Get Rich or Die Tryin':
Due to the one above Sol understands that the world turns on money, that his father death had left them unstable. He vows to never let that happen again to his family, due to this he's willing to do just above anything to make sure his family stays in the green cash wise. But the truth of the matter is he's seemingly on the verge of trying to stay legit for his dear mother sake, or going down a darker path. One thing is certain though: He's going to make sure whatever he does he's set for cash.» Melancholy:
There is a deep sense of darkness within the young man, in the sense of depression even. His life hasn't been easy and he's rarely had the time to talk about it with people, but for years he's viewed the world through almost a grey hue. He fails to see what goodness there is in the world save for family, his only release for this is one of his pets. But often times people can see the young man staring in the distance, a sad look on his worn face and tired eyes. Every day it feels like he's struggling against an endless sea seeking to drown him, and sometimes he just wants to let it happen. It is only through his affection for his family he doesn't.» Knife's Edge:
With all the above being noted this creates a position for the man where he's one step away from doing something bad. Like really bad. He's walking on a fine line trying to make it day by day, budgeting and surviving. But yet others get fat and full of money, meanwhile he goes to sleep hungry. Rent doesn't get paid, and mouths don't get fed. It is only by the fact that he hasn't grown so desperate to start breaking the law for the cash needed to live, but he's at the point where he either needs to die, get arrested, or make it. There is no other choice.
I. Character History» History:
"Holy fuck life blows."— Solhammond, but many people throughout history.
Life ain't been too kind to Solhammond, otherwise known as Sol to almost everyone in the world save for his mother. He's lived in the great nation of Somalia for just about all of his life, born to a dad who was far too old to be having kids and a mother working as a secretary at a local church life wasn't exactly filled with wealth. There was nothing particularly outstanding about the young child Sol was, the youngest sibling out of four an expected 'miracle' as his mother claimed. But his father was already old enough to be nearing retirement, which led to an unfortunate event when Sol was eight.
Sol's father died. Rather, Sol's father had collapsed while working the docks of Ethiopia having suffered a heart attack. It wouldn't be till years later he found out this was brought on by financial woes. The death of his father hit the family hard, emotionally and from a stability standpoint. Bare in mind this was before the formation of Vastime, between the hollow attacks increasing and the general lawlessness of their region it was hard to get by. But perhaps through sheer grit and determination his family led by his mother was able to stay afloat, and keeping him in schooling at that.
That time was a rough one for Sol, his first real experience with the harsh reality of life. That if you didn't have money, that if you didn't have support, you would fail in this world. It still amazed him how his siblings and mother where able to endure that storm of their father passing. It was.. impressive. It left a mark on the young man, he wanted to provide for them as they did him. He felt like dead weight to them, that young and a drain on resources.
So his teen years where spent between school and part time jobs, trying to bring in enough money to float the family. It was never enough. To Sol's eternal credit he managed to maintain decent grades, not by studying but raw inclination towards his studies. He picked up things quickly, perhaps a bit too quickly at times. With his studies often not being a bother for him that left more time to devout resources to more impactful ventures. It was at the young age of fifteen where he watched through a window the shady underground fighting establishments which littered the town. It seemed men liked to bet money on fighters, and men who needed money liked to fight. Needless to say, it was a lucrative idea.
It was through sheer happenstance that the gym Sol went to, to learn how to fight, that it doubled as a pro-wrestling establishment. Meaning guys where both learning how to fake fight, and actually fight. The scrawny kid paid his dues and that began to long journey he was currently on. Thus he was balancing work, school, and learning to be a.. mixed-martial artist... pro wrestler. These things just sorta happen. Once his family found out they joked about it, his mother chastised him but ultimately let him go through with it. He did keep under wraps the whole 'wanting to fight illegally for money.'
And that's what his life was for the longest. Until he turned eighteen, which he didn't have the money to go to college. He had the grades to maybe get a scholarship but truthfully he didn't want to. He was making a decent amount of money, enough to get a car. This was right around the time that man named Desmond Hayden started forming Vastime. The effects of Vastime didn't change the circumstances much for Sol other than making fights a lot easier to get, and less crime for him to worry about. But, he still struggled. He still needed money.
So here we are, four years later at twenty-two. Living in his faithful car working the occasional pro wrestling gig, and fighting for money and giving that money to his family. Lying about living in his car to top it all of. If there was ever a lower place a man could get, well they might just be in the dirt at that point. Thus our story kicks off here, Solhammond Palliser, the guy with nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I. Equipment» Equipment: » 2009 Ford F150:
His old trust girl affectionately named 'Becky.' This old truck was something he bought on the cheap on his eighteenth birthday. It's a wonder the truck hasn't broken down, so many parts have been replaced hard to know the exact origin of it. But it soldiers on through that all making it the most reliable thing, and only thing, he has to his name.» 2150$:
His cash. Roughly enough to make it the month if he's lucky.
I. Natural Abilities & Skills» Skills: » Trainer Fighter:
In his own right the man did recieve some years of training professionally and does fight relatively better than most people. Therefor he does have the training to be considered someone who could defend himself, and move with grace. At the very least not someone who couldn't protect themselves in a bar brawl. » Intellectually Inclined:
Sol definitely has a brain in his head, and a knack for picking up things quickly both physically and mentally. Once he sees something he can usually commit it to memory almost photographically, and enough body function to reasonably perform any physical action he see. This means he tends to pick up fighting techniques quickly, but this has translated in an assortment of life skills ranging from lock picking, hot wiring a car, or card tricks. Of course the former two are from having lost his keys.
I. Other Supernatural Abilities» Techniques:Weaving Stance:
Sol signature fighting style or stance pays homage to one of the greatest human fighters, a boxer by the name of Mohammand Ali. Instead of relying on blocks he focuses more on movement, and unconventional dodging. It is as entertaining to watch, as annoying to deal with. Head movements, and footwork are a constant with Solhammond allowing him to perform impressive dodges and positioning.
A fairly simply technique save for when you put Sol's signature spin on it, due to his high mobility fighting style his straight jab is thrown rather loosely. It's more akin to a whip in it's speed and power, producing them in rapid succession. Typically he'll flow from a dodge into a series of straight jabs.
Unlike the straight jab, this one is a firm strike. Solhammong due to his dodging ability has the unique chance to gain a bead on his enemy quickly. Upon dodging a strike perfectly, usually with a prediction, when he throws this firm strike out it is with his weight behind it. This leads to the technique being a powerful, but risky strike.
Consistent with Sol's theme of high mobility defense, weaving and bobbing, his hook was invented to help when he's on the ropes. Any experienced fighter will tell you the key to a proper hook is landing it perfectly, and good hip rotation. When weaving about Sol can throw a quick hook out with surprising speed, usually intended to break his enemy's tempo or to land a quick effective strike.
One of the hardest moves in conventional fighting to land is a properly executed liver punch. But if landed it can completely immobilize someone, Solhammond is particularly skilled in landing these punches. Due to his slippery fighting style, he can often throw these punches with devastating power and quickness.Feigning Punch:
What would a fighting style be without some type of feints, for Solhammond his feigning punch can be mimic'd as any of the listed strikes. For those with exceptional reflexes they may find themselves fool'd if they don't predict these feigning punches. The real effect lies in how he can mimic any of his punches, and proceed to do something else entirely.
These strikes are specially designed, to be combined with his eyes of the struggler ability. When a disabling strike is thrown, it is usually one of the techniques listed. But what makes them different are they are targetted usually intended to cause massive pain, disabling, or energy disruption. A properly executed one could easily cause great distress to someone. Snap Kick:
These kicks are some of Solhammond's bread and butter, exceptionally strong kicks which can be performed with little indication. They can be performed in stationary position where he raises his knee and straightens his leg; striking forward. Or for added power he can take a simple step or reverse his stance to throw the kick with more power. What makes these kicks unique are their explosiveness, and surprise factor.Brazilian Kick:
An interesting kick, and one of his crowd pleases. This kick is initiated as any lower body kick, before he brings it upwards and performs a high angle kick to the head or arm area. Naturally this has a feint build into it, one of his slower kicks which rely upon misguiding his enemy but if it lands can easily knock most normal people out.Feigning Kick:
Naturally, like his feigning punch this is just a naturally incorporated feint in his weaving stance. He can mimic any of his kicks, and end up performing an entirely different motion.Disabling Strike(s):
These strikes are specially designed, to be combined with his eyes of the struggler ability. When a disabling strike is thrown, it is usually one of the techniques listed. But what makes them different are they are targetted usually intended to cause massive pain, disabling, or energy disruption. A properly executed one could easily cause great distress to someone.
His signature move, his finisher, his show stopper. A recently developed technique combining his eyes of the struggler. This move focuses directly on landed two strikes, a powerful uppercut to the jaw followed by a snap kick to the liver. This technique must be performed in this sequence, for the first strike is intended to interupt someone energy and the second to cause massive pain. The end effect: The lost of bodily control/balance temporarily. Naturally this can be overcome through an assortment of means, but the shock to the system is drastic- and provides the opening to finish a fight properly.
