ENTER THE WANDERING DEMON

Artist: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - Song: Awaken

The roar of the road and car horns blared, the afternoon sun beamed down on Kokuto as he walked down the streets of Karakura City. The road was filled with cars, with humans on their way home from jobs, with some of them coming home to a spouse and child. A small seed of envy stemmed in the demon's heart at the thought, briefly calling back to his mother, father, and little sister. He longed to see them again and live the life that he used to have.

Karakura had gone through so much change in the time of his death and imprisonment in Hell. What had previously been a simplistic modern-day city was now a futuristic paradise filled with neon lights, skyscrapers and electronic billboards featuring all sorts of advertisements, like the newest phone, or some other overpriced gadget that never worked as it was shown in the commercials. A small smile spread across the demon's face as he took in these sights. Some things never changed, no matter how far mankind progressed in technology.

So, as the man made his way to one of the many parks that were in Karakura, sitting and laying down, closing his eyes as he let out another sigh. The leaves of the tree above him blotted out the sun, allowing him to lay on his back, relax, and slowly drift off into a dreamless slumber.

BLOODY REBELLION

ICHIJOU

The Devil Went Down to Karakura [PRIVATE/Kendall] [Pre-War] 6EdIfMt

The futuristic landscape was something to be beheld in amazement when Karakura Town was concerned. In general, technology had truly advanced to a special level, which opened up many opportunities for civilians and those who seek to protect them. Even so, none of that really mattered to the petite girl roaming through the streets; surrounded by crowds of wild fans who were eager to get their pictures autographed or spend time with the young woman in question.

Ichijou Miura - the fang-toothed sensation who was rapidly developing a reputation as an adorable attraction with a talent for garnering attention and placing herself in the spotlight through any means possible.

Be it a movie, a commercial, or even interviews, the Sueki vampire had built a solid foundation for herself in Karakura.

She wasn't even insincere about the way she carried herself, either. With ash-blonde hair fashioned within two buns and a pair of enchanting yellow eyes, as well as her fangs, there was no denying that her features were irresistibly adorable.

Ichijou reveled in being the spotlight, and besides the few cases she may have encountered a few weird-ass men with ill-intention, she never felt it was wrong to interact with her fanbase, and so far she had been doing just that. She chose a select few who she seemed to be fond of - a group of young women - and brought them along to go shopping with her, as she evaded the hyperactive crowd.

They had offered to help her shop for her clothes but just as she was about to reply to them, an odd sight caught her eyes. As they crossed one of the parks a few meters before a strip that led to the mall, Ichijou spotted a man who happened to be resting on a picnic-table bench.

Man... was not exactly what she could call him, though. He was definitely of the male gender but his appearance was reminiscent of what one would gaze upon from a horror film or if someone within a metal band got very adventurous with their skin. She stared at him in awe, which happened to catch the attention of the young girls walking beside her.

"Oh, it seems like it might be a demon," said one of the girls. "I'm not sure if we should approach him. I hear they're not too popular considering recent events in Karakura. We should go shopping, Ichijou-chan. "

"I'm not letting the closest thing to Freddy Krueger himself just sit by and not engage in a conversation. Shopping is cool but I already have enough clothes. " She brought a generous amount of money from her pocket and handed it to the women.

"Here, you go shopping and I'll talk to the creepy-looking guy over there. If my body is found sliced and diced and floating in the sea, at least it'll make for a hell of a headline on the news. " With grim humor that made the group of women arch their eyebrows in disgust, they nodded and took the money, walking off while keeping their eyes planted on Ichijou.

Ichijou made her way over to the bench and respecting his personal space in no way whatsoever, she playfully poked at his nose in order to gain his attention.

"Freddy Krueger called. He said he wants his look back. "

ENTER THE WANDERING DEMON

Artist: Pokemon D/P - Song: Veilstone City

A light groan came from the man as voices from around him slowly brought him back to the waking world. While he tried to ignore them, it wasn't hard for him to hear what sounded like a group of females nearby. Turning over onto his side, he pushed the thoughts out of his mind as he took a deep breath in, then exhaled as he rested his head on his hand. Whatever they were saying, it didn't really matter. He just wanted to get some sleep.

But, as he was about to doze off again, he heard light footsteps approaching him, and soon felt someone poke his nose. Probably just a kid that was curious about why a homeless-looking guy was laying on a park bench, sleeping. But, regardless, Kokuto found himself slowly opening his eyes and rubbing them, sitting up as he took a quick look around him, his eyes gradually adjusting to the mid-afternoon light.

As his vision corrected itself, he found himself staring at a girl with blonde hair tied in two buns, with golden eyes to match, Kokuto had to do a double-take as he sat up and slung his legs over the bench, leaning back against the table as he heard the girl's comment, which...made him have to do another double-take.

'...Did she seriously just mention Freddy Krueger?'

Blinking several times as he processed the name, a smug-ish grin spread across his face as he turned his head back to her.

"Well, tell Freddy that if he wants the look back, he'll have to come and get it himself. I'll gladly get into fisticuffs with the Springwood Slasher."

His head lowered as he started snickering, the small laughter growing in volume into a chuckle, continuing it for a minute or so before eventually coming to a stop and sighing softly.

"Jeez...is Robert Englund even alive anymore? That's old stuff, kid. Almost five-hundred years back."

Chuckling once again, he tilted his body back even further.

"Though, it's good to know that classics like him aren't forgotten. The guy really knew how to act and embody his role. Modern-day stuff just feels...lazy, to me. Just cash-grabs to make awful reboots, terrible live-action...almost feels like the companies are intentionally trying to butcher the good oldies."

He turned his head back to Ichijou, a neutral gaze in the demon's blue eyes.

"What do you think?"

BLOODY REBELLION

ICHIJOU

The Devil Went Down to Karakura [PRIVATE/Kendall] [Pre-War] 6EdIfMt

"You have pretty much described every modern day horror-film remake, hunhun~ I am surprised you are familiar with the Freddy'. Wouldn't call ma' self much of an expert on horror movies but I am definitely a fan of the classics. Hearing you know so much fills me with tha' notion that the classics will never die. Jason, Freddy, the nutjobs from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, oh, and who can forget Jigsaw?"

Ichijou found herself chuckling as she went down the list of horror movies she had watched and looked over ever since she acclimated herself to Karakura Town and Japan itself.

In truth, part of why she even approached this demon - which she could easily discern from the spiritual signature and scent - was that he resembled a slasher who looked like a legitimate badass and could sell a good film without applying any makeup.

Judging from his demeanor, he was surprisingly quite welcoming despite possessing such a fearsome visage. She wished to converse more with this man.. and oh, she forgot to ask his name!

"For a minute, I thought you might've been rearin' to punch me over the head for interruptin' yer slumber. My name is Ichijou Miura. Former name was Rachel Mihela... but you can call me Ichijou. Mind tellin' me yours? Better yet, what would you say to takin' an adventure with me away from those idiots in the mall?" Smiling, Ichijou sat down beside him and wondered if he would accept the request and tell her his name.

Now they were talking. It was a bit of a relief to find someone who not only knew about and liked horror but felt the same way toward the terrible remakes that had been made of them over the years and even listing off some of the classic killers in horror. Jason, the Monster of Crystal Lake, and even John Kramer, the Jigsaw Killer. Thus, grinning and reaching over to ruffle the blonde's hair a bit, he stretched before responding.

"They won't die as long as people remember them. Maybe, at some point, the entertainment idiot-stry will take the damn hint and stop trying to milk this garbage."

Sighing and putting a hand to his head before his head slowly shook. There were so many of those pieces of garbage that it felt like there was no love or care for anything in the entertainment industry anymore. But, upon further recollection, the smile returned to Kokuto's face, as he remembered a certain silent slasher that Ichijou had forgotten to mention, turning back to her in order to continue.

"But, there are some gems in the rough, like the Halloween remake. That one was actually really good. Michael Myers...they really did the silent bastard justice in that one."

Keeping his eyes on her as she walked over and sat down next to him, telling him her name, Ichijou, asking him of his own, and inviting him for an "adventure". Chuckling softly, Kokuto shrugged as he leaned back against the table of the bench.

"Name's Kokuto. I, uh...don't remember what my last name was. But, sure, I'll join ya. Beats laying 'round here and get eaten by...ants or some shit."

Rising to his feet, he abruptly took her hand and yanked her up from the bench, and set her on her feet.

"Lead the way then, Ichijou~"

BLOODY REBELLION

ICHIJOU

The Devil Went Down to Karakura [PRIVATE/Kendall] [Pre-War] 6EdIfMt

All things considered, this Kokuto dude was pretty fuckin' awesome. Such was the singular thought resonating through her mind as she mused on how familiar he was with horror movies. To be sure, being born within the more modern period had never allowed Ichijou to see these movies when they first came out, and she grew tired of indulging in those piss-ass remakes which only brought shame to the original content.

Kokuto, on the other hand, seemed like he was very familiar with these iconic slashers, quite fitting considering he resembled one to an extent. She felt her excitement grow as her body shivered with glee. Thoughts of how their day would be spent dominated her brain as she had already begun planning various scenarios within her imagination.

Grabbing him by the hand, she hurriedly ran forward, hoping he would follow. This, of course, was to remove herself from the premise where the women were located at the shopping mall. Now, she desired to plan. How would they start the adventure? That's when a very fond idea bloomed within her mind. "Oi, Kokuto-san, since you're so familiar with horror movies of tha' old days, I know you must be familiar with arcade games. Last one there is a rotten egg!"

With a childish, giddy tone, Ichijou let go of his hand and shuffled towards the arcade nearby. It was filled with modern games and retro games alike, tracing as far back as Atari, to Nintendo, to Sega, and of course, arcade machines. There was also an area where one could go to if they were hungry and in need of food and refreshment. A twofold completion. Gaming and Food. Ichijou was a genius... or at least that's what her mind told herself as she awaited her demon companion.

ENTER THE WANDERING DEMON

Artist: Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F - Song: Frieza's Theme

Quickly being tugged from his position and pulled behind the little Sueki, Kokuto had no real choice but to follow. Not that he minded, of course. A soft chuckle came from the demon as he followed behind her, only for her to let go and dash off, racing him to the nearby arcade. Grinning and placing a foot behind him, Kokuto used this moment to tap into the power of Possessive Movement.

Kicking off the ground and instantly hitting near-Mach 1 speeds, Kokuto ran off in a flash, likely passing by Ichijou as he wasted no movement or momentum opening the doors for his vampiric companion and holding it open for her. A teasing smirk spread across his face as he winked at her.

"Looks like you're the rotten egg here, hun~"

As he waited for her to enter, he too would step inside the arcade. A wave of nostalgia washed over him as he did, bringing a smile to his face as he looked around. Almost half a millennium since the initial invention and popularization of video games and arcade cabinets, and yet there were still around. It was times like these where he was truly reminded of how much humanity enjoyed the classics, and how great of lengths they went to in order to preserve things like these.

Walking to one of the cabinets that held the programming of the all-time classic, Jumpman, Kokuto smiled as he watched the game's demo screen, with the red and blue-clad bundle of pixels casually bounding across the tilted, broken girders and leaped up to the next elevation in order to reach the primate at the top. Lightly patting the cabinet, Kokuto let these feelings of nostalgia be heard in the sound of his breathing as he let out a soft exhale.

Turning back to Ichijou and softly resting a hand on her head, he gestured to the concession stands nearby and beginning to guide her over as a hand slipped into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. It wasn't much, just some mediocre savings of his time as a Knight in Shadow Fall, but it was serviceable and enough for a minor day-to-day life. It got him fed and got him some level of entertainment. For him? That was enough.

"Well, the least I can do is buy us some lunch and snacks. It's on me. Order whatever ya want."

BLOODY REBELLION

ICHIJOU

The Devil Went Down to Karakura [PRIVATE/Kendall] [Pre-War] 6EdIfMt

Kokuto had already beaten Ichijou to the arcade, which made the adorable Sueki poutily accept defeat as the suave demon politely opened the door for her. She loved being treated like a princess and prince charming was definitely hitting the favoritism buttons correctly.

As the two entered the arcade, Ichijou’s eyes lit up as her excited gaze drank in the bright colors and her ears the sounds of retro and modern games, readily available to those who wished to endlessly indulge within this gratifying escape from reality.

Ichijou had been here countless times. It was one of her favorite locations in town. She welcomely endorsed it and advertised it in commercials and would never stop, hoping to keep this place in business for as long as she willed it.

There were so many games to choose from. Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Galaga, Metroid, and so many more. There were players who practically treated this as their second home and even reserved rooms to rest in, wake up, and resume playing the games that required longer sessions of gameplay.

Ichijou was fond of those type of people with that commitment but she was more fond of games that could be done in a day. Or fighting games. God, she loved fighting games. As she drooled over the kaleidoscope of colors and the booming sounds, her attention was brought back to reality as she was guided over by her demon companion. He had offered to treat her to snacks and meals.

Truth be told, Ichijou’s meal of choice was blood but she had taught herself to enjoy human food well enough. Her appetite was craving it too, as the aroma of burgers, steak, ribs, and other delectables graced her nostrils. Nodding happily, she wrote an order and placed it on the table for one of the servers to receive.

Directing her attention back to Kokuto, she curiously smiled at him. She had noticed him reminiscing as he gazed at the Jumpman machine. As she walked around, she smiled and offered to challenge him as they waited for food. “Before the food is ready, I want ta’ get payback for my loss of the race outside! I hope yer’ good at street fighter. “

ENTER THE WANDERING DEMON

Artist: Octopath Traveler - Song: Alfyn's Theme

Despite him mostly going to do his own thing, Kokuto was keeping up with his surroundings and keeping an eye on the little lady he was spending the day with. His smile grew as he watched her face light up at the sight of all the cabinets, glad to know that someone else was also a fan of the classics and their old-fashioned glory.

So, as the little vampire made her order and sent it in, Kokuto turned back to face her as she approached him. Her little challenge only brought a grin to the demon's face as he brought his hands up and cracked his knuckles. Fighting games were always a good time, especially the all-time classic fighting game: Street Fighter. A tinge of excitement washed over him as he simply nodded to accept Ichijou's challenge and made his way over to the Street Fighter cabinet, taking the right side.

He could feel the thrill of combat creep up his spine, a result of Makhai's influence over him, something that only created an even deeper addiction and yearning for combat in any format, even in something as small, simple, and silly as a video game. Sliding in a one-hundred-yen coin for each of them, Kokuto activated the machine and took the joystick with one hand and held his other hand over the miscellaneous buttons on his other side.

"No spamming Hadoken as Ryu or any of that cheap shit, a'ight?"

Grinning once again and playfully sticking his tongue out at her before turning back to the cabinet, selecting Master Bison, flexing his fingers as he eagerly awaited her own pick. Judging from her looks and the small fangs the girl had, he figured she'd pick someone with blades, like Vega. But, even if it had been a long, long time since he'd first played the original games, he still had some level of muscle memory and overall memory of the game and its mechanics.

Thus, as Ichijou would make her selection, Kokuto only had two words for her before they officially started.

"Game on~"

BLOODY REBELLION

ICHIJOU

The Devil Went Down to Karakura [PRIVATE/Kendall] [Pre-War] 6EdIfMt

"Hunhunhun~ I can easily kick' yer butt without resorting to such cheap tactics but if it happens, then it happens~!" Ichijou grinned widely, baring her fangs as they both turned towards the Street-Fighter Cabinet. It was a retro-edition so it didn't feature as many of the modern characters she was becoming fond of - Juri being the most superior amongst all her favorites - but it still possessed some of the characters she had a penchant for playing with.

Selecting Chun-Li, Ichijou began to engage in a match with the sinner, easily matching him blow for blow, but his skill with Bison proved to be superior as she lost the first round.

The fang-toothed Sueki would even the score with Cammy, defeating Kokuto in the second round and then they traded back and forth for a while, Kokuto would win one round and Ichijou would win the next with varying characters until it came down to one more match.

In typical Ichijou fashion... she... she... well she took the cheap way out. She spammed that Hadouken like a fucking psycho. Ichijou smiled and waved her hands in victory, dancing between a small crowd that had gathered as she made her way to the table to receive her order. It was rather large, with burgers, ribs, Chinese cuisine, and drinks. She would walk the table, hoping her demonic companion would follow and they could get to know each other over a large meal. She had worked up quite the appetite through her adrenaline.
