Colin Washi

Well this isn't good.

The man had tripped, flatly falling onto his face. This may end up being problematic. The left side of his mouth twitched as he stumbled about, his head shifting from side to side as he tried to locate his glasses, knocked away into the desert sands. Awesome. ...Ah, shit.

He felt the ground rumbling beneath him, the desert winds picking up. A craaaash rumbled through the air, a centipede-like hollow with blade like arms towering over him. On his other side, another Hollow had quickly appeared, with wings and claws that could do awful things to a man's unprotected skull.

If one were to look closely, they were incredibly focused on the red-cloaked man with the sharp blonde hair. Even as they loomed, preparing to strike, his hands were still sifting through the desert sands. Searching, searching..

Welp... the view doesn't change much, at least.

Honorable Vizard

Laskt Matiche

Shouting a battle cry, Laskt cleaved through the Hollow with a mighty sweep of his blade, splitting the corrupted soul from hip to shoulder with a powerful slash. He then pivoted on his heel, channeling enough energy into his blade to cause it to glow with an unearthly bluish white light, allowing him to easily dispatch the two other Hollows sneaking up behind him with a vicious backhand cut.

The Shinigami had been fighting the waves of Hollows for about thirty minutes now, utilizing the large amount of corrupted souls within the wasteland as both an excellent way to train his swordsmanship and a good way to let off some of the steam that had been building up within the former knight for a few weeks now. After all, one did not knock on the doors of some of the world’s most powerful Vizard’s and beg for training without stressing out about it, especially if said person was a staunch perfectionist and put great stock in correct manners. Besides, it felt good to actually do a Shinigami’s duty for once, bringing peace to corrupted souls and to help protect the innocent from their mindless savagery.

Breathing heavily, Laskt flicked his blade to clean it of the grime that had collected on the weapon, then sheathed it and drew a flask of water from his belt, drinking deeply. Stoppering the flask, Laskt cast out his senses, searching for the next group of Hollows moving through the endless wastes.

Instead of finding said group of Hollows however, Laskt stumbled backward a few paces as a massive spiritual power registered, rivaling the greatest he had ever sensed, Ulv, Stefan and the whole of Soul Society included. With a blur of motion, and without a second thought, Laskt utilized a Hoho to rapidly transport himself to the signature, leaving the few droplets of water that he had spilt to evaporate on the endless sands of the Wasteland.

Even as the two Hollows converged on their prey, a glowing blade would sprout from the winged Hollow’s chest, causing it to screech in agony and disintegrate by the power of Laskt’s Zanpaktou. The Shinigami stepped between the man on the sands and the massive Hollow, his longsword carving a furrow in the blistering sands of the Wasteland as he trailed the tip across the ground. “Need help sir? You seem a little indisposed at the moment, despite your power.” The warrior asked politely.

Colin Washi

The satisfying sound of a zanpakuto running through a hollow echoed through the air. The man on the ground visibly relaxed, continuing his search as he fumbled around. There was now a guardian between him and his assailant. But even so...

There was a Hollow that was crashing down next to his body, a blade wound in its chest. One of Colin's fumbling hands squeezed two of his fingers together as he moved past the creature's descendinf head, shattering its mask from one corner. There. Would kinda suck if he got attacked from behind while acting all cool... His brow relaxed a bit, turning his attention back to the emergy that had taken. His cycling energy rushed back through his body, looping and slowing as he manipulated it into a stop. He wondered if the man would notice. The action had given off virtually no sound, the hollow's body hitting the sand drowning it out. Maybe he would think it was his blow that did it..

That's... different.

Colin was glad his hand had only touched the creature for a moment; he realized that it had begun to disintegrate from the point it had been struck. Guess that's what I get for underestimating him.. huh. Maybe I shoukd just let him handle this other one, too.

His attention turned back to the man, taking a listen to what he had to say.

Another polite one... but this guy... doesn't seem particularly stressed. The man laying on the ground could only let out a chuckle, his hands fondling the desert sands, kicking it up as he searched.

"What can I say? It's a long way to the ground when I trip. And I've lost my glasses." The nearly seven foot tall man explained with a waving hand, still not giving Laskt his full attention. "Can you believe they used to have me running the Stealth Force? Gotta say I'm kinda ashamed." With that confession out of the way, Colin's fingers at last wrapped around... something. "Ah."

"AH!"

It was not the frame of his glasses he discovered... but a scorpion's tail, which he promptly flung as hard as he could in a vertical direction.

Colin did not particularly like bugs.

"Some help would be neat, though. Can't even trip in my own territory without every beast who thinks he could be cool trying to jump me."

PREPARE TO ENTER THE VIZARD'S POST

Laskt glanced back at the abnormally large man lying helplessly on the ground behind him, a flicker of recognition entering his eyes. “Colin…Sashi right? You must forgive me, I am terrible with names.” He explained, still eying the giant centipede like Hollow.“Haven’t seen you since the academy, scuttlebutt says were some big shot in the Vizard Corps right?” He asked.

The centipede struck, hissing like a jet engine and lashing forward with it’s pincer-like appendages that dripped with oozing venom. Laskt grunted, dodging left, then right, avoiding the monster’s attacks and just barely staying ahead of it. His sword-arm lashed forward, taking off the monster’s forelimbs, his sword glowing with a ghostly white fire. He then pushed off the ground, jumping several meters into the air before bringing his blade down in a two-handed slam that easily cut through the beasts’ armor shell, cutting its head clean off.

The warrior rose from the half-crouch that had completed the sequence, his shoulders slumping in relief that he had managed to slay the Hollow without putting his blinded ally in danger. In truth, Laskt knew that he could smash his sword into Colin’s head until the sun sank below the horizon and he wouldn’t leave as much as a scratch on the tall man’s head, but the former Knight still felt responsible for the helpless man, regardless of the logic of the situation. Despite his long centuries of dwindling power and exile, the man still had some pride!

The Knight of the Detention Unit’s peaceful ruminations were then abruptly shattered by a loud yelp emanating from behind him. In an instant, Laskt sprang into motion, spinning on his heel and lowering his body into that familiar half-crouch, his blade pointed towards the source of the noise, the tip shivering slightly as adrenaline pumped through the Vizard’s veins. However, instead of another monstrous Hollow, there was Nothing? But I was sure I heard a- He thought, only for his eyes to widen as a scorpion shot past his face at a ridiculously high speed, splattering against a distant sand dune.

Laskt slowly turned around, staring at the pulp of the scorpion’s remains, then staring back at Colin. What crazy power, it’s almost on par with Ulv’s! He thought to himself, amazed. Laskt shook his head slowly, bending to the ground and scooped a pair of glasses off the ground, brushing off the scorching Wasteland sands. “Here.” He said simply, holding out the glasses to Colin.

Colin Washi

"Eh. Washi. You did close enough. Sorry but I'm not great with names and faces. Awesome you remember me, though." Colin explained to his apparent ex-acquaintence. Colin did not keep in touch with any members of the Gotei from his time there; Vizards had not been quite so welcome at the time he was infected. As for his role in the Corps... "Ha, well, I just stepped up before anyone else did. And between you and me... I'm kinda glad that's all done."

Those are some pretty nice moves. Colin thought to himself as he observed the man's footwork. The way he navigated the incoming strikes showed he could handle himself under pressure. He also had some kind of burning-white fire. Colin could not help but be reminded of his brother.

With a spectacular flourish, the hollow was slain, its limb body crashing into the ground. "Nicely done." In all honesty, Colin was rather glad that his savior did not feel like turning on him. Power though he had, his outer shell was not incredibly durable.

Colin blinked at the man in front of him, his glowing emerald eye sockets apparent as he took the opague lenses back. They fit snugly back over the bridge of his nose, not bothering to clean them off any further. Apparently he was quite content with the job Laskt had done.

"Ah. Much better, thanks a ton." He told the man, a satisfied smile having taken the place on his face. He walked over to the slain hollow, the height of his body much clearer as he stood nearly a head taller than the Knight. "To be honest, I'm starting to lose the heart to outright slay them, especially with that kind of ferocity." He explained, his eyes examining the corpse. "And anyway, you wouldn't get any practice if I killed them all myself, would ya?" He asked with a great big smile, clearly enjoying himself and the situation at hand.

About a two weeks ago, Colin had stopped slaughtering the hollows in his territory. They had started to become bolder and bolder, trying to come after him any time the Eagle Man tried to take a rest. "Walk with mr a sec." He told/asked the man, his long legs taking strides directly toward the massive dunr where he had smashed the scorpion. "So here's a follow-up question. Would you feel prepared to fight two hundred of them? How about a Vasto Lorde?" Each step buried the man deeper in the sand, his slender legs struggling a bit to scale the scorching pile of desert heat. Hopefully Laskt wore long pants.

"So how's this sound... You're already good at cleaning up monsters. I could use some help around here, you could pick up some more practice..." He explained, reaching the top at last, gesturing with his hand. Once Laskt reached the top, he would conclude.

"You work with some experienced teachers, give some pointers to others, and become a student of the Wasteland Campus."

Hidden behind the dune were several buildings. A dinky little house with a magnificent patio, a dug-out lake with a cabin, a massive lecture hall, a large rectangular building with stairs going down, and another simple big building.

A full campus, hidden within the sands.

PREPARE TO ENTER THE VIZARD'S POST

A Beginning

Laskt nodded absently as he engaged the centipede, “It is fine, I wouldn’t expect you to remember moi. I am Laskt Matiche.” The Vizard explained, ducking as one of the centipede’s legs lashed over his head. Laskt had admittedly not been that notable in the Academy, as the only class where he had truly excelled was swordsmanship and even then, he was only slightly above average. It had all been a bit overwhelming for a Plus that had lived a sheltered life up until that point.

As the monstrous Hollow crumpled to the ground, Laskt sheathed his sword a trifle self-consciously, aware that the finishing stroke had been a tad more theatrical than was wise. The Vizard flushed slightly at Colin’s praise, scratching the back of his neck. “It was nozing.” He said simply, “Given how long I have been a Shinigami, zis should have been child’s play for me.” Laskt pointed out, tapping a forefinger on the sheath of his weapon. Of course, he was only this week because of Chikai’s imprisonment, but that was no excuse in the mind of the Knight of the Detention Unit.

Laskt allowed himself a small smile as he handed the glasses to the blinded man, though the smile slightly faded as the man admitted to losing the drive to kill Hollows. If a Shinigami was not killing Hollows, what else was their reason to exist? He coughed, “Zat is true Mr. Washi, I have a feeling zat you do not need practice against such low-level Hollows.” Laskt said, diplomatically avoiding speaking about Colin’s dereliction of duty, at least in his eyes.

The Vizard would accompany Colin as the Vizard gestured Laskt to accompany him, curious as to the other Vizard’s purpose for bringing him this way. Laskt eyes roamed the dunes, wary of more Hollow emerging from the sand, “I could fight two hundred of zem, but I doubt I would triumph. I do not possess ze skill set to defeat zat many before growing tired. As for a Vasto Lorde…I zink zat should be fairly obvious considering my strength.” He finished; his voice brutally honest. Laskt had never had any illusions about his combat strength, and felt no shame in telling the abnormally tall man this fact.

Perhaps that was why he was so surprised when Colin offered him a place in his Wasteland campus. Laskt stared in shock at the magnificent compound, seemingly arising from the very sands themselves. He dropped to one knee, bowing his head. “I would be honored to join your campus Monsieur Colin.” He said simply.
