Pain had dominated her world. It had reshaped her, and brought perspective to her life. What was important, what was irrelevant, and what was worth fighting for. The sadness that came with that pain still plagued her, the sickening noxious cocktail that lay in her gut only serving to further the resolve that lay within her breast. She would change this world, with all it’s sickening irregularities.

Inami Asthavon, Sovereign of the Kokuryuteshi Empire, had over the past week had been tracking down intel on a particular individual that she felt would understand and seek to join her. Ghislain eberheart, fallen emperor of the Quincy race. She believed that he of all people would understand what she wished for, what she was trying to accomplish for this world, and that was why the queen now lay atop the frozen tundra.

”I wonder if he will join.”

Inami thought to herself faintly, her lips parting as blackened smog billowed forth and dispersed into the realm surrounding her. The blackened undulations of her very nature staining the realm immediately around her with her chaotic color. Inami’s emerald eyes glance across the frozen tundra, scanning the permafrost for the individual who had brought her to such a cold and unforgiving land.

On the way here many thoughts had flown through the Queen’s head. Thoughts of her family, of Calypso who she had failed, Of arianda who had given her a chance for redemption, and Ulv, who had shown her how to let go of her reservations and follow her heart. She needed to change for them, and she needed to change for herself. To fulfill her desires, to do what needed to be done.

She knew that many would not understand, and that many would try and stop her. She knew that she had chosen the longest, most difficult path possible, but that honestly did not matter to Inami. Even if this was a path of blood and bones, she was willing to see it through to the end.

Once Inami had finally found ghislain, The queen stopped her flight, her emerald gaze looking down upon the man who she had come so far to meet. If ghislain looked back he would most likely notice the glimmer of resolve in the eyes of the queen, that lay intermixed with the queen's characteristic amusement.

”You’re a hard individual to find, Ghislain.”

Inami’s voice was soft, ancient, and yet had a soothing musicality to it. The resonant motes of power that rolled from the queen's tongue dispersed her statement to the realm surrounding her. This made it so that while Inami was obviously some distance away from the man, it sounded like she was whispering directly within the man's ear. As if she was all around him, rather than in front of him. Her voice clear despite the howling wind, or the snow that was being blown past them in a fantastic blizzard.

”I have not come to harm you. “

Inami said as she moved her hand and the snow surrounding them was blown away, the forces of nature casually being bent to her whim due to her control over the world around her. A bubble of calm now dispersing around them as she said softly.

”I have come instead to offer you a home, and a purpose.”

Inami’s voice was full of honesty, and strength. It was clear whatever the queen had come to offer him was something she believed very strongly about. That it was something she was resolved to see through to the end.

”If you so choose to accept that is. “

ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: 1901

He'd spent a lot of time disappearing from the world. His people no longer wanted him or cared about him truthfully. He was a blemish to them of a darker age. A remnant of the past they desperately wanted to disappear. His youthful appearance didn't hide the years behind his eyes. The countless decades and hours spent. His eyes were an azure blue like the sky.

His clothing were those of a hunter, someone who'd spent his days among the wilderness. He sensed her presence the moment she got into the area. His sensory and Energy skills were top notch. But in the end, he decided to remain. Had she come to kill him perhaps? Doubtful, a Demon of her level had better agendas to fulfill.

He knew her at a glance, he didn't show hostility as he sat at a wooden table. His home was rural, all crafted from wood and gathered. He'd built this place by hand and lived off the land. Showcasing a skill lost to most of the generation around. He didn't need technology or powers to survive. Ghislain was a frontiermen from a time forgotten.

"I must admit I intended it to be, but I'm curious. What does Inami Asthavon desire here?" He said not as a question, more as a statement. He knew well enough she would lay her cards on the table. He raised his eyebrow at the mention of purpose and a home.

He closed his eyes for a moment sending a pulse of his energy out, giving away his location entirely. His energy was still potent, almost like a beacon. The Quincy hadn't lost his power by any measure from his time here. He made a choice not to show signs of fear.

Because she didn't give him a reason to do so, no malicious intent existed on her energy. If she intended to fight, there wouldn't have been words. Only a crater where Alaska was once upon a time, or at least his own home.

"I see, home and a purpose is it? Very well, you've obtained my interest, I suppose your highness would be the correct form of address in this situation?"

He was sure she'd be here soon, given he answered her invitation with one of his own. He'd not merely nod his head yes so readily. The Quincy had done that once before, it leads to the extermination of their species. "I wait to hear more on your proposition at my home, food, and beverage await your arrival."

He did have food and beverage, deer that had been seared and cooked. With fresh spring water that had been properly purified using old huntsmen techniques. His eyes opened watching the opening to his humble hut. These two both had lived long, far longer than most. The meeting promised to be interesting at the very least.

This man was comfortable in his own skin. It was clear with how he sat atop a table hewn and crafted by hand, clear with his eyes--which did not fit a man than looked to be not a day over 20. Those eyes held stories and memories, both good and probably bad. This man had a history, one that had lasted him far longer than Inami had been alive. Inami’s lips curved faintly as the man had finally decided to speak.

"I must admit I intended it to be, but I'm curious. What does Inami Asthavon desire here?"
Ghislaine asked, and Inami couldn’t help but allow the faintest of giggles to bubble up from her tummy, and spill out from her full lips. There was nothing mocking or condescending by the musical, bell-like peals of laughter that seemed to resonate everywhere, instead of from only her lips. The queen gently wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes before she leveled her gaze upon ghislaine, Allowing her amethyst and onyx eyes to study him.

”Inami Asthavon, has no interest in you Ghislaine. I haven’t come here for my family, or their desires.” Inami said with a lazy, drawling, sugary tone. The facade one had come to expect from the mighty queen, whose power was second only to her whimsical, mischievous, and often apathetic moods. She made sure to accentuate asthavon, as the words rolled off her lips, making it clear that she was not here in any capacity as an Asthavon.

”However, if it’s just Inami, i’d say that she has a great deal of interest in you, a man who led his people benevolently, and justly. “

Inami said, as she stuck her tongue out, catching a thick, fat, snowflake upon its surface--enjoying the biting cold that assaulted her senses in result. After she simply accepted Ghislaine’s hospitality with the faintest of smiles, nodding faintly in an “after you” gesture before following him to his hut. After all, despite all Ghislaines power, Inami was far from defenseless. After entering the huntsmans humble abode, the queen sat atop the table, letting her legs dangle off the edge as her eyes peered out a window at the thick, fluffy, drifts of snow that lay beyond it’s borders.

” I’m sick of this world ghislaine, but probably not for the reasons you assume.”
Inami’s words were candid and true to her thoughts, the queens beautiful two-toned hair spilling out over her shoulders as she reached up to absent-mindedly tuck the stray locks behind her ears. Her voice full of weariness and pain, but also hope and conviction.

”I’m sick of the endless cycles of war, betrayal, and false peace. I thought that you of all people could empathize with that sentiment Emperor Ghislaine.”

Inami included the mans former title in the end of her statement, partially as a dig to gauge how he’d react, as mischief to her was easy as breathing. However it was also to remind him of his past, of his origin. Inami’s legs swayed faintly even though her thick leather boots failed to touch the ground.

”I joined K-world because I believe that a future without genocide, without senseless death and violence is a very possible truth.”

Oh where was the riddles and catty behavior? Inami often would wile away the days with such useless and thoughtless banter. However she had decided that right now, there was no need to be anything other than who she truly was. That was why despite the undertones of mirth, there was a prevalent aura of conviction, strength, and purpose within her voice.

”I’ve come to offer you a home that won’t reject you simply because you are an outdated truth they wish to hide, like skeletons in an old dusty closet. “

Inami said, her voice soft and kind. Honestly she understood better than most the pain that a stigmata brought to bear upon one's name.

”I will find that truth Ghislaine. Just like if you choose to join, you will find a home again.”

Inami spoke, as she glanced at ghislaine to see what he’d say. She had spoken her mind, and kept to her convictions. Now it was time to see what Ghislaine would say to something as odd as a demon queen that wished for true, lasting, eternal peace.

ENTER THE DEPTHS

He listened respectfully, the truth of it was he'd grown tired of them all and their power grabs. The political intrigue and betrayals brought him nothing but anger. The Quincy were prideful and ungrateful for anything he did. Not content was they with demands, but they would banish him from their cities. Banished from them and abandoned by the people he swore every last breath too. He had no place in the Lux Orior either, they had the same questions his people did. And thus it became a former Emperor, an errand boy, and tool to be discarded.

"So no schemes of that table, I detect a purity and truth behind your words." He said the purity word with a smile, knowingly. Calling a demon pure was like calling the devil a choir boy. They both knew it but the conversation could carry on.

He listened to her as his voice and eyes gave way to it. He wasn't just tired, he exhausted by every aspect of it. This world marched towards a cycle of destruction, revenge, new leaders same policies. His voice came out now, not timid but tired of it. Just the general fruitlessness that mankind and these powers wrought.

"I've seen ages come and go, watched power grabs military overthrow kings and dynasties die. All with a promise that is forgotten when they get there. I've lived a long time Empress Inami, seen horrors wrought by Yhwach and Hulderic Hylham both. " He paused for a moment, his mind not racing but slowly going over each thing.

Considering the practicality of it, the fruitlessness that he'd seen, and finally the last thing. that came as he spoke the truth.

"In a lot of ways, we are alike you and myself Empress Inami. We've both been but conduits, toles used by the most precious to us. They dig their daggers deep, loving them hurts so much. Yet I cannot bring myself to condemn them or hate them. Loving them is hard, harder than anything this world offers. I feel as though a blade, I'm picked up when needed and discarded when my usefulness is at an end."

Memories of Sofia and Nif, all the Quincy he tried so hard to protect and put everything there for them. He went and bargained with K-World to get them to forgive what Hulderic did.

He slowly pushed off the table a sad yet weary gaze still upon his face. It seemed that his time here had come to a close. Not because the people he sacrificed everything for came. No, the person they chastised and threw venom at did. The world focused so on appearances, they never saw his age.

"I accept your offer, my home long ago burned and those I cherished have long since departed this world. " He didn't hold a wistfulness but an understanding. That the betrayal, power grabs, and nature of this world were out to fight.

Everything was battle, everything had been so ready to go to war, fight the demonic threat. Band together with humanity and deliver divine justice.

They were no different from the false prophets or those so-called people who reincarnated into divinity. It pained his heart, but sometimes the only way was to let it go.

"What will I be in this place, a blade to be discarded once my usefulness is at an end? A tool to let people know the Quincy can join K-World if they are disillusioned as we are? I know not the rank or what I will hold, but none the less I will serve this place as you do. The capacity of which I believe is up to your discretion."

He went silent now, it was clear betrayal wasn't the word. He was thrown aside, cast into the closet. A memory these people desperately wished to forget. He didn't hold naive beliefs like all were equal. No those died hundreds of years ago. When Yhwach made a similar promise.

When one lived as long as he had, seen, and been treated this way. They became jaded and their heart hard. He cared and it hurt to care because he knew, in the end, the results were plain. When you cast aside your elders or those who lived this life.

You sacrifice the knowledge, but never the love they have. It was out of love for his people he was taking this. No matter the personal pain and price he would pay. Inami treated him respectfully, more than his own people did. Not one of them would dare call him an Emperor, they would sooner swallow nails. The fact was he was a skeleton in the closet as she put it.

He held on to massive power and was very strong, but the fact was Inami was stronger. Her heart was stronger, maybe due to youthfulness. But she'd lived a life and seen hardship. You didn't have to be old to know hardship and pain. The truest pain in this world is knowing the one you love, will hurt you.

But you are unable to do anything about it, why must it be so that the divide has grown so. His final turn came looking at the home he built for himself. A shelter from the pain and betrayal that piled. Memories and nightmares haunted his sleep here. But no matter how he fled or tried to hide from this world.

The fact remained, they would kill one another endlessly. They would engage in barbaric acts without remorse. In the name of justice, they would cry, much like the Templar's he killed that were rapping women. He said it was justice, but that was just his personal disgust with them.

Whatever Inami's justice and heart asked him to do, he was likely to do it for her. The youthful man he portrayed had died and left behind his legacy of bones. Now the only one left was the age of an immortal man who'd seen humanity's truth.

"Where are we headed Empress Inami?" The question finally posed on it as he'd not taken much prodding to get him. He'd made a deal with Sing and she'd been honorable and to her word. He was comfortable in his skin, if nothing else this would be an experience. What kind would depend entirely on the Empress of Chaya Nation.

Loving them is hard, harder than anything this world offers. I feel as though a blade, I'm picked up when needed and discarded when my usefulness is at an end. The world that ghislaine had spoken had a lasting impact in the mind of Inami. Her gemstone-like eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she turned to the door of that humble home, and hopping from the table after listening to all he had to say. His pains that had ailed him, and the harsh reality he had faced--Inami did not judge him for it, but instead as her hand reached and felt the rough wood of the cabin door, with her back turned, fingers gently digging paths in the wood, she spoke.

” I don't hate them either ghislaine, oh how I wished i did. It would make it all so easier if I did, would it not?” Inami said as she shoved that door open to let in the cold, the motes of snow and howling wind blowing past her to extinguish the soft candle-light in the room. It brought could to the original cozy room, much like the chill within her soul that still needed to thaw.

” Ghislaine, do you think I would come to the edge of this god-forsaken planet for a tool that I only wished to discard? Would i tell you the truth if I sought to forsake you like those that came before? Wether or not it was for the best, they made a mistake that day, and I will not. I don’t think you quite understand Ghislaine. “ Inami’s tone was merry, but there was a sultry growl beneath that spoke of the genuine anger that lay beneath the mirth. Anger at the fact that the man would have the audacity to believe she’d waste time for something that would be expendable as he put it.

The queens body shifted and she turned around, her heterochromatic eyes glittering with anger and hurt, she’d cross the distance between them to jab a finger into his chest before ultimately a sigh escaped her lips.

”I said i’d give you a home did I not? A family that would never abandon you. Do you think the words that I speak are given lightly? Do you not trust me, a queen that rules a population many times greater than this planet? Is it because I am a demon, or is it because I am a girl? What is it that makes you doubt the words that come forth from my lips, and why despite that doubt do you still go along with it, as if you’re a martyr?” Inami’s words were scolding before an exasperated sigh escaped her lips and a soft little giggle passed forth from her mouth.

”Fine, listen up I’ll only say this once.” Inami said as she reached up, despite their height difference to tweak Ghislaines nose.

” From this moment you are a part of _my_ family. You are mine, just as you are a part of k-world. A pair of bright and shining white wings, that is what you shall become and..”

Inami paused as her face grew closed and somber, a raw pain flitting upon her face as she swallowed slightly.

”I’ve been told that eventually it will stop hurting. That one day kindness will cease to hurt. I believe for you too that day will come. So lets go shall we? To your new home“

Inami said as she turned around and raised her hand, a portal of darkness rapidly forming in front of the cottage. The snow being blown away as rapidly from that darkened portal came the image of hong-kong. The twisting blackness churning and swirling, as uncertain as the future that he’d now tread. Yet as Inami looked back she’d extend a hand, a wickedly dazzling smile full of razor-sharp shark-like teeth filling her face, as her eyes were alite with expectation and excitement.

”Well? I’m waiting.”

ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: 1901

There were signs and oh he could see them well, he'd seen empires rise and fall. Inamki Ashtavon was a Queen of Queens, she had the air and royalty to her. It showed he didn't say anything. He merely nodded as he rose from his seat. She'd brought an interesting perspective, why had he doubted her?

His lips tugged upwards forming a smile, he wondered if she knew what it was like. To remain while everything you knew or ever loved grew old and died. How often the knife he wished to drive into his heart looked tempting. How inviting did it feel to just plunge the dagger when Elizabeth died 890 years ago.

He'd watched, sons, daughters, grandchildren. So many things come and go with the sands of time. Immortality was a curse, one that stayed long and never left. It was a pain that he endured for this time. Busying himself with learning and studying everything he could.

He knew that from one place he'd been wrong, he judged her hastily. But it was part of the wounds upon his heart. He didn't know what would be waiting for him. But this journey had more potential to it.

"I ask that you forgive an old man's bitterness towards this weary world. I've become jaded over the centuries, I see it now more clearly. Once upon a time, I had a youthful vigor, smiling for each venture. A family sounds nice, I will follow you Inami. "

He paused for a moment thinking back to her comment. Closing his eyes, like sapphire gems they slowly closed. As he found himself thinking about hate and if it helped in the end. Before finally speaking back on it.

"When I realized I couldn't die of old age, I became bitter but I got to see something. The result of hate, loving hurts us the most. It's because our love for them drives a dagger in the heart each time they do what they do. Hate..it hurts everyone. No one is spared from it, it creates a cycle..where clarity is lost and something akin to madness is given precedent. " She could take what he said, it was up to her.

But the reality was, that he had watched hate throughout the many many years of his life. Be it racism or any kind of hate, the grudge, in the end, leads nowhere but self-destruction. Either way, he'd made his choice to follow her. If it ended in fire, that was fine, happiness would be fine as well.

He would use what wisdom and experience he had along with the power he kept under wraps. To support her goals and wishes, a Quincy and a Demon. This sounded like the start of a bad joke. But maybe it would prove, no they would prove those who saw K-World wrong in how they saw it.
