I. Basic Information» Name:

Unaffliated» Physical Appearance Description:
Heng He is a teenager with olive colored skin though a certain side of his face is discolored thanks to a burn mark. One of his eyes is a deep blue while the other is much more of a lighter color thanks to the burn mark. He has reasonably long black hair thanks to his family's tradition of not cutting theirs which he usually has in various styles depending on his tastes that particular day (or what his mother wants). He will usually wear it in a over the shoulder ponytail or simply loose. Notable facial marks would be the beauty mark near the the bottom of his lips. When he isn't wearing the school uniform, his clothes tend to consist of Chinese-inspired clothing that usually has the color scheme of greens and or pinks. Heng has a thinner build except for only a little bit of muscle in his arms due to his practice in archery and his joining of the archery club.» Physical Appearance Image:
II. Personality Traits» Personality:
Heng He is a young man who does his best to come off as older than he actually is. He tends to come off as sullen and snarky, nonchalant about life around him as he tries to come off as mature. Though, he is far less mature than he thinks he is or appears to be. He is quite insecure about not only his height but about being the age that he is. He doesn't like it when people poke fun at these traits and underestimate him which really puts him in a pissed off mood. What also pisses him off his reckless people who always get themselves hurt. As a future Doctor, he is always ready to patch someone up and yell at them for being idiots in the process. This also shows that he cares a lot about people despite the fact he doesn't want to appear that way. Like any normal kid his age, he quickly becomes flustered over things like romance or anything slightly sexual. He tends to get flustered over both genders when it comes to these kinds of situations implying as he's still figuring things out for himself sexuality wise.
Heng takes his future very seriously as he doesn't want to let his parents or himself down. He takes his studies and dreams of being a Doctor equally as serious as his Quincy training. He is quite knowledgeable on things like doing stitches and how to stop excessive bleeding but he's still just a teenager and can't do anything too serious. He even still gets a bit woozy at the sight of blood. Nevertheless, he still pushes through which shows his unwavering determination. He tends to actually smile when he receives praise for his hard work, especially with included head pats. He'll laugh and smile and say that he was glad to help. Though, he'll certainly go back to his usual cold self if someone takes his smile for granted and begins to tease him. He tends to slip in German words in his sentences and holds up German traditions quite well showing his pride about the place he is from. He is always happy to explain things to those who are curious about the culture. His interests tend to vary from collecting baseball cards to reading manga. Heng has no shame in his interests and dares anyone to say anything about it, always ready to go off for an hour in someone's ear if prompted.
He does not like being called short. He is quite insecure about his height and constantly wishes he were taller. Calling him such will result in him immediately lashing out at whoever did so. Heng also suffers from some form of PTSD. Smaller fires he tends to flinch away from and shake a bit at, preferring to keep a distance. But when he gets burned even if not by a fire he goes into a full on flashback of that night and goes into a full on shaking fit. He curls up into a tight ball and stares into nothing. He isn't allowed to cook due to this and his parents tend to make sure his food is properly cooled just in case to avoid triggering his PTSD.
III. Character History» History
The He family has some complicated history under their belts. Starting with Heng's father, Junpei He, was a young man with a very complicated relationship with his family. They were always at each other's necks, mostly due to one side being Japanese and the other Chinese. All throughout college, Junpei seemed to be in a bit of a tough spot but all changed when he met Agnes Marie, a German foreign exchange student. The two were quick to hit it off. Junpei's goofball personality easily impressed and charmed the foreigner. She would later on tell him that her first celebrity crush was a German comedian which is why she was quick to be so fond of him. During their college years, Junpei studying medicine with Agnes studying business, the two of them were quite the pair of lovebirds on campus. But they also motivated each other to become better and actually do their best.
It did not take long for the two of them to get married. His family on both ends seemed to really like her along with her family. Though secretive, they were quite friendly and mature about most things. During family reunions the moment they arrived on scene things tended to not be as tense. About two and a half years later, Heng He is born. He grows up loving both of his parents equally but it is soon that he is sat down by his mother one day as they have a talk about himself and the changes he is experiencing. Instead of your average puberty talk, Heng got the Quincy talk. Agnes reveals that she comes from a long line of people called Quincy that are able to do amazing things like protect humanity from Hollows. While she is an Echt Quincy, he is a Gemischt Quincy due to the fact that his father is completely human. She then offers him the choice to go to Germany where he family currently is to be trained to be a proper Quincy. He said yes immediately.
In Germany, at first Heng was a bit nervous being around those on the German side of his family as some were members of The Vandenreich. He felt himself inferior to them thanks to him being a Gemischt but they were quick to inform him that was not the case at all. In secret, he trained under them and found himself enjoying their company. Everyone was nice to him and treated him with respect. He enjoyed learning the history of those who were Quincy in the past and present and genuinely found himself finding that he liked being here. That he belonged here. Maybe he would stay and go to school here. But it wasn't long before his life of comfort would be taken from him in an instant. He was fifteen at the time, still bright eyed and hoping for a happy future. It was late at night and he was sleeping peacefully when suddenly his grandmother Emilia came into the room and shook him awake. She told him that they had to run and get out of the house. Heng was tired and still in a bit of a daze. So much so that his aunt had to pick him up and carry him. But during their escape, the house was quickly consumed by what he saw as a "bird of fire". People in strange looking robes which his aunt described as "fucking bastard demons" were battling with those in his house. But even Heng at his age noticed how much of a losing fight it was. Their escape attempt was quickly thwarted by a demon which Heng remembers vividly to be someone whose eyes with as golden as he was murderous. Without any mercy, he cut down Emilia before sending a blast of flames his way. She did her best to shield him, forcing her dying body over his but it wasn't completely successful. He didn't escape unscathed. A good portion of his face and shoulder was burned.
He was forced to listen to the screams of battle and death, all the while his grandmother's body got colder and colder despite the heat while her blood continued to press into his clothes. After the assault and extermination of the family was complete and the demons left, his uncle Emmerich happened to be returning after stepping out of the house earlier in the evening to hunt down a liquor store that still might be open. He found Heng under the body of his grandmother and quickly left with him. That very night he bought a plane ticket for the both of them to go to Japan where his family was. After telling his parents of the news, his uncle was welcomed into the house with open arms. All of them had no choice but to grieve from far away as the demons may have been able to track them back to the family if they were to attend any kind of funeral. Heng stayed silent for about a year, still processing things and the unfairness of the situation. At first, Heng only wanted to focus on doing something related to medicine like his father. Being a doctor fit for him very nicely. But after talking to both his mother and uncle, he found that he shouldn't give up on being a Quincy so easily. Instead, he should use the death of those he cared about to motivate him instead.
Nowadays, at age 18, Heng is continuing his work to get good grades at Karakura High School and doing his best to lay low as a Quincy. He joined the archery club at his school to help with his aim and is currently working under a doctor as an intern at Karakura Hospital. He hopes that, one day, he will be able to slay the one who took out the German side of his family. To honor them, he uses German phrases in his speech sometimes. In his part time to earn money, he works at a tea shop. A part of him often contemplates joining The Vandenreich but doesn't want to take any unnecessary risks.
IV. Equipment» Equipment:
First-Aid Kit & Quincy Cross
V. Natural Abilities & Skills» Skills:
● Reishi Shield:
By infusing their bow with additional reishi, Heng can widen it temporarily into a disc-like shape to fend of projectiles or close range attacks. The widened area of the bow can only withstand so much abuse before the reishi breaks away back into the normal bow state. This technique can be maintained for 2 turns at a time, the user can still shoot arrows through a gap near the grip. Once broken or after the 2 turns have elapsed, there is a 2 turn cool down before enough reishi can be gathered to perform this technique again.
● Arrow Decoy:
When a quick distraction is necessary, this is an essential tool in Heng's arsenal. Taking little time to prepare and easily mixing into a flurry of shots, the Arrow Decoy won't fool an enemy for long, nor be entirely convincing at range, but can buy a few seconds for the user to recuperate, reposition, or attack a distracted foe.
● Reishi Decoy:
A key technique for evading pursuers, the reishi decoy is a construct that appears to spiritual senses as nearly identical to Heng. Deployed with the use of 6 arrows, 5 to form the pattern of a Quincy cross and the last fired into the center, it takes more time to prepare than a simple Arrow Decoy, but in return is vastly more convincing, buying more time for escape.
A simple skill that allows him to use the reishi line from his bowstring to act as some kind of restrainer for particular targets that he does not want to get away. The less exhausted he is, the tougher the string is.
● Attack Negation:
One of the defensive skills used by Heng. By overcharging the tip of an arrow with tightly packed, barely restrained reishi, Heng can negate a single projectile attack by firing directly into it, where the arrowhead erupts and disrupts the incoming attack, dissipating it. Due to the investment of reishi, this ability can only be used to negate a single projectile with a three turn cooldown between uses.
VI. Quincy Skills & Abilities» Quincy Skills:
Hirenkyaku is a very useful ability for many things. Cushioning a fall isn't one of them. By pouring out the stored reishi in a ginto and stating the name of this technique, a blast is created which counters and eases the speed of descent, allowing Heng to survive falls from a height which would otherwise be lethal.
● Heavy Fletching:
What good is an arrow if it can't find the target? By adding more and larger fletching, Heng's shots have a slower velocity than that of the other types without losing power, allowing for longer flight times where their abilities can be put to use. A common usage of this skill is to fire at strange angles up or away from an enemy before suddenly pulling the arrow on target, useful both for deceptive attacks and firing accurately from cover.
● Path Control:
Inborn with an ability that acts as a precursor to Ransoutengai, Heng is able to fire arrows with invisible reishi strings attached that allow them to make alterations to the flight path of the arrow in midair. Heng can control up to 5 arrows in flight, one per each digit of their firing hand, every turn, and losing control of their direction as they pass 100 meters from their person.
VI. Spirit Weapon» Spirit Weapon Name:
Wiedergeburt [Rebirth]» Spirit Weapon Appearance:
It takes the appearance of a thin longbow, still in the form of blue energy. Near the top of the bow, it splits off into three simple branches. Silhouettes of buds bloom out of the top and, in the center branch, a silhouette of a lotus blooms out of it. The appearance of his arrows appear
to have a more sharper look with a lotus in the middle of it.» Spirit Weapon Abilities:
He is able to shoot many arrows at a rapid speed. Each arrow that is destroyed scatters into lotus petals before they rebound and quickly turn into a smaller pair of arrows. This process repeats, each one of them getting weaker and weaker but producing more arrows until they becoming nothing more than a slight annoyance then nothing at all. He can change the size of the arrows he is about to shoot. The larger ones he has better control over while simpler, smaller ones he has barely any control over at all.
VII. Letzt Stil» Letzt Stil Name:
Asche zu Asche, Staub zu Staub [Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.]» Letzi Stil Apperance:
Gathered reishi takes the form of butterfly wings and antennae giving him the appearance similar to that of a butterfly. He is not actually able to fly like this and it is all mostly aesthetics. His longbow is not needed in this form as sharp, fire-infused javelins are used instead for powerful long ranged attacks. He can summon up to five at a time and control which direction they go. » Letzi Stil Abilities:
Besides from a lot more powerful attacks compared to his regular arrows, this form allows him to control fire and the intensity of it when attacked to his javelins. He can also use it separately as defense if someone were to catch him by surprise with it.

IX. Roleplay Sample» Roleplay Sample:
Shiba was, to say the least, nervous. Last night, he had a very terrifying nightmare about everyone he knew dying in front of him in gruesome ways. He had woken up screaming and his mom cuddled him. She then proceeded to scold dad for telling him about what their own exams were like. After giving him some warm milk, they kissed him goodnight and his father apologized before they both left his room to go back to sleep. Shiba continued to stay awake with the haunting thoughts of his nightmare. He couldn't help it! Could he possibly die? Could his friends die? Just when his thoughts were getting worse, Ging climbed into bed and wrapped around him like a territorial mother wolf taking care of pups. As Shiba rested his head into the soft fur of Ging and listened to the large dog's heartbeat, he began to calm down. Everything and everyone was going to be fine. Nothing bad was going to happen.
So when Shiba woke up the next morning, he had a determined smile on his face. He’d protect everyone as best he could. Shiba got ready as quickly as he could and, as if he was feeding off of his master’s determination, Ging circled around the room excitedly. Shiba had never really seem Ging get this excited before so it must be a good thing, right? “Are you ready, Ging? This is the big day!” Shiba said, finally getting a chance to pat the large white dog. The brown haired boy kissed Ging on the forehead, hugging the dog tightly. He couldn’t really explain where this sudden boost of affection came from but he had a pretty good idea. Turning his negative emotions into positive emotions was something that Shiba constantly did unknowingly when he felt some sort of “bad” emotion.
Shiba opened up the curtains in his room and smiled at the rising sun. He was going to be early! Shiba ran out of his room, Ging right behind him. He eyed the jar of money that sat on top of the refrigerator and, with the help of his loyal partner in crime, he was able to grab a handful of money before he left the house without a word to his still sleeping parents. Hopefully they wouldn’t notice or mind the handful of money that was missing from that jar. Shiba didn’t know what it was for but it was best to not think about it. He was putting it to good use! The good use being getting sweets for his friends early in the morning.
He wasn’t due to meet Kohana for a few so Shiba decided he would spend this time to explore all the unique stands that were set up. Though, as he explored, he had this strange feeling that something was off. It took him a while but he finally realized it. The candy booth wasn’t around! It was a real bummer because he was totally counting on it for a proper meal of the morning. Oh, and all the ANBU hanging around was weird as well. What was the point? “Maybe a bunch of ANBU have kids taking the exams, huh?” Shiba said jokingly to Ging, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips. There were darker thoughts and worries that were whispering in the back of his head but he was going to ignore ignore ignore them. Ging’s ears flopped down in sympathy.
Shiba eventually settled on buying three breakfast sandwiches from the breakfast booth for himself and his friends (his human ones, anyways). He’d split his sandwich with with Ging as per usual. Now where was it that he told her that they’d meet again? Ah, right! The dango booth! Shiba started walking a bit faster until he finally saw her. “Kohanagakure!” Shiba shouted his nickname for her, waving to her as he approached. When he was finally in front of her, Ging sat down patiently as if already expecting to get his side of the breakfast sandwich. Shiba noticed this and pouted at him. “You could at least say hi, you know…” Shiba mumbled and the white dog’s response was simply to turn his head away, uncaring.
Shiba sighed and decided to focus on Kohana instead. “I bought this for you!” Shiba said, practically shoving the breakfast sandwich into her hands. “And don’t tell me you already ate because there is always room for Shishi-san’s breakfast sandwiches. He worked hard on that, y’know!” Shiba stuffed the other sandwich in his pocket that he was saving for Kichi-kun. Speaking of which…
“Where is Kichi-kun, by the way? He should have been here by now…”
Shiba was beginning to get worried, patting Ging’s head as a way to keep the thoughts away. “So! How are you feeling? Nervous about the exams? Do you need a hug?” Shiba asked multiple questions, all the while keeping Ging’s head at a distance since the large dog decided it was getting impatient and wanted his food now. Shiba’s friends were his number one priority so of course he fretted over the little things even if there weren’t things to fret over. “I hope the exam is easy…” he mumbled.
