Standing at a solid 5'10, Lyza is notably fit, though not muscular, with auburn hair that looks brown in darker lighting. She tends not to flaunt her appearance and wears more covering clothes, especially if they're more loose and comfy. Stuff like sweaters, jeans two sizes too large for her held up with a belt, casual shoes, etc. Occasionally she'll dress up for a battle, but only if she's trying to look at least somewhat serious which is rarely, if ever at all.» Physical Appearance Image:

I. The Host's Personality» Personality:
The quickest way to describe Lyza is tired in possible meaning of the word. Physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, spiritually, etc. Lyza's most prominent feeling is the near perpetual exhaustion that stems from the fact she burned herself out during her intensive years of training and effort. More often than not this affects all of Lyza's usual personality traits by dulling her sense of motivation. Her old self is that of a self motivating train of near impossible levels of drive and determination, but all of that is nearly gone now, replaced with this almost melancholic laziness that overcame her as she aged to this day.
Her day to day life is quite literally nothing special. She exists to exist because she can, not because she strictly wants to. That isn't to say that she wants to die either, as she knows that would accomplish nothing even if the afterlife wasn't real. The only way that she can really describe her current state of being is "waiting for something important to snap her out of her bullshit". Lyza knows she's in a rut but her extreme lack of motivation and of an immediate cause for action just gives her a thousand excuses to be as lazy as humanly possible. It's been years like this and at this point, she doesn't really care to find a reason on her own either.
At times Lyza can be patient and generous and at others quite the opposite. It depends on her mood, which depends on what she's been dealing with over the course of the day. The more time she's been awake and the longer she's been working the more that she just stops caring completely
. There's at least some fucks left for her to give but those fucks tend to go quickly as the day goes on, leaving her to become even more exhausted than usual until she just gives up completely and what little motivation she has left is thrown to the wind in favor of literally leaving and going home so she can sleep.
Speaking of sleep, Lyza can't get enough of it. She goes to bed tired, wakes up tired, goes through the day tired, so on so forth. She used to hate sleep due to it getting in the way of her furthering her own goals, but as those goals became completed and her life continued, she learned to associate sleep with a lack of chores and responsibility, which Lyza is completely done with. Don't even try and impose some sense of responsibility on her without a good reason, she will not have any of it.
When she is being patient though, Lyza does have a decent sense of empathy. She cares about the well being of others because of her main philosophy: "Everyone has a right to a good life until they throw it away themselves". If someone is deemed within her range of care, she will assist them until they are deemed worthy of taking care of themselves from that point onwards. This is just something that Lyza came to do naturally in response to her impoverished early life.
At her core, Lyza wants to care more about... well anything. But after becoming distant to her last few friends, she's found less motivation to keep going. There's still the wistfulness of wanting to be motivated again, of wanting to have a reason to get up in the morning like she used to, but that spark is long gone and Lyza is worried that it may never come back. Sometimes she gets distracted by this longing, as evident by her staring off into space or just completely tuning out of conversations at times. This doesn't happen often, typically only when she's reminded of her state of living that she tries so desperately to just not think of.
There is one exception to Lyza's apathetic nature, though, which is when she sees a real threat and a real problem that she feels must
be resolved. These problems are things that genuinely threaten her existence or pose a threat to things she cares about, which at the moment, is nothing really. When she does eventually find something to care about, or a reason to live, she will be able to surpass her apathy temporarily through sheer willpower until the problem is resolved, or complications arise that cannot be currently dealt with.
Lyza's serious mode is more stern, focused, and immensely more driven, to the point that her demeanor is the exact opposite of her usual carefree and tired nature. Every movement becomes precise and direct, her posture straightens out completely, and her mind becomes clear and focused with no distractions of depression or exhaustion. When she wants to be, Lyza is a force. When she doesn't want to be? Well I mean, you already know at this point.» Likes:
- Simplicity: She doesn't like complex things or anything that is difficult for the sake of being difficult. The value of complexity is minimal and situational, it should not be the norm. Keep things simple so it's easy to digest.
- Mild Company: It keeps her occupied in a fashion that doesn't feel like work.
- Sleep: It keeps her occupied in a fashion that doesn't feel like work.
- Work: It's effort and she doesn't want any of that anymore. She's burned out.
- Being Awake: Being Awake usually brings some responsibilities with it, so she doesn't like it.
- Complexity: Why make things more complicated than they need to be? Just make it simple and get it over with so it can be done.
I. The Host's History» History:
Lyza has forgotten most of her childhood deliberately, as most of it is irrelevant to her growth as a person. Her earliest memories are of her living with her impoverished family just trying to get by, then of them being murdered, and finally of her being completely alone. It was at this point that she met her first important friend whom would play a pivotal role in progressing Lyza's mundane social life.
This friend would bring her out to dinner, show her around the city to places she had never even seen before, introduced her to plenty of new people, and essentially breathed confidence and enthusiasm into a young and depressed Lyza. Most of her early memories in life involve her and this friend just enjoying life as best they could, making the most out of their otherwise poor lives together. That is, until this friend died during a Hollow attack on the outskirts of the city she grew up in.
The grief will never escape Lyza, she knows that much. Even to this day she still regrets not being able to save her friend and relents having to rely on others for protection. This loss is what spurred her into action and into the Vanguard where she sought out an apprenticeship under whoever would take her under their wing. Even then, her time there was short and Lyza would quickly leave after her initial tutoring, citing her hatred for the stiff work ethics of the Vanguard when she herself only wanted to get strong.
But still, Lyza knew what she wanted, and sought out to achieve this through self discipline and training. This is where her memories start to blur the most, as Lyza's early training sessions weren't very fruitful. She trained alone in isolated areas throughout the city, surprisingly raising her spiritual powers quite a bit, but it wasn't enough. It was never enough. That thought echoed through the poor young Lyza's head as soon after, her family was killed during a mugging that took place in the very same neighborhood she had lived in for years.
Once again, she lost something important to her and wasn't even around to stop it from happening, if she even could. However, this intense feeling of guilt wouldn't last too terribly long, as soon after, Lyza did manage to stop a mugging of her own while out hunting down her parents' killer. The battle was oddly fierce as the mugger had odd powers that Lyza only overcame due to her naturally fast learning kinesthetic learning abilities. The fight would go on and Lyza would quickly come to understand the rules and limitations of her opponent's powers until she finally stepped close enough to land a single blow, but that alone wasn't enough.
Their struggle continued on and on for almost an hour as Lyza kept maneuvering around her opponent's ruses and tricks with ease until the both of them were tired, yet even as they reached their limit it was Lyza who would land the final blow. A punch to the skull with most of her remaining reiatsu infused into her fist took the man's skull completely off, and she soon after collapsed from her wounds and passed out before being able to even celebrate her victory.
It was this fight that infuriated Lyza both in how long it took, and how powerless she felt not being able match her opponent's fancy powers and techniques. The worst part though, was the feeling of not being able to end the conflict sooner. If she was stronger, she would have ended the fight in a single punch. No, if she were stronger then the mugger never would have entered her neighborhood in the first place...
This unhealthy obsession with power fueled a determination in Lyza that lasted years while at the same time sparking a brutal training regimen that she followed for most of that same time. Twenty hours a day, using her reiatsu as a second source of energy to fend off exhaustion while at the same time using it to magnify the effect of gravity around herself. She accomplished this by first learning to control her reiatsu, then folded it inwards towards herself until it was exerting such an immense pressure that she could barely move. It was under this pressure that she would train her body physically.
Ten hours a day to train her physical being, another six to refine her technique, and the last four for experimentation. Her only day off was the last day of her week, which she spent gathering supplies and meditating before getting a single full night of sleep and then repeating the same routine again.
At the end of this training routine, Lyza finally decided it was time to test out her new strength and combat prowess on real enemies. She enlisted the help of other spiritual beings to lead her to Hueco Mundo where she used several Hollow Bait and her potent concentration of reiatsu over the course of several months to lure powerful Hollows towards her. She tried to count how many she killed on a daily basis but quickly gave up trying when she reached almost seven thousand Hollow killed in just a few days. Even then, that number is sheer estimation.
After this Lyza returned to Earth and... gave up. It wasn't that anything happened, it was that the thing fueling her unreal willpower was the grief and guilt from having lost her family and closest friend so abruptly and brutally. Over the course of her years training, her negative emotions were just fuel that she burned not into hatred or a desire for revenge, but a genuine desire to become strong. As the years went on though, Lyza started to come to terms with her loss until she just completely and utterly stopped caring. She had little to no use for her strength and ended up simply becoming a for-hire mercenary that was occasionally contracted for Vanguard missions when they were low on manpower. To this day Lyza still has low ranking, loose ties to the Vanguard, but even those friends quickly became acquaintances over the years and now just call on her when they need to.
It's been twenty five years since Lyza 'gave up', and now her life is a mundane routine just like it always has been. Except instead of getting stronger, she's simply stagnating and working easy jobs just to get by. Part of her longs for motivation, but she's too tired to find it and is too scared she'll fall back into that rigid work regimen that nearly broke her before. Still though, maybe one day she might...
I. Host's Abilities» Skills:Reiatsu Control:
Lyza is a natural at controlling her reiatsu, to the point that it's second nature and she can do it subconsciously without even fully noticing. 90% of the time Lyza's reiatsu is completely neutral and unassuming when it's able to be felt, but should she need to reflexively avoid something or protect herself, she can move her reiatsu almost immediately to enhance and/or power her body in whatever way it needs to in order to ensure that she survives or completes whatever task she needs in order to live. Lyza has spent so much time refining her reiatsu control that it's not something that she deliberately does anymore, sometimes even forgetting that she can manually manipulate it to her whims because of how often she just reflexively uses it in almost any task she would need to.
Another thing that she is capable of doing is keeping her reiatsu incredibly close to her body and reducing the range that other individuals can detect it to a few dozen meters. Those who are particularly spiritually sensitive can detect her reiatsu from a larger distance, but those who are not adept in spiritual energy detection cannot feel her reiatsu until it is within their near immediate vicinity at about three dozen meters away. This isn't to keep her reiatsu hidden, contrary to what some would believe. It's more of a proactive decision that allows her to use her reiatsu in higher amounts faster and more reflexively.Capacity of Willpower:
Lyza's willpower ranges from barely able to get move herself out of bed to a nearly unstoppable force. The range is so wide that it's almost unbelievable that her willpower even comes from the same Lyza that can barely crawl her way to the shower in the morning. This vast range of Willpower stems from her current lack of motivation in life since she got over the loss of her family and friend when she was younger. Her willpower is surprisingly lacking most of the time, but should she be given a real
reason to change the world around her... just understand that Lyza's capacity to overcome her own apathy is much greater than anyone would ever think, she just doesn't reach that capacity very often.
Her lack of urgency and care also influences the way that her Willpower functions. In the face of fear, she doesn't scoff or ignore it. Lyza doesn't even notice it. In the face of an unbeatable threat, Lyza will face it with headstrong fervor until she either can't, or can get away to fight another day. Her resolve is unwavering no matter the circumstance. She's stared death in the face once or twice in her life, and she will do it again. This same lack of care and urgency can also cause her to make some brash, heated decisions, but for the most part Lyza keeps her emotions in full check through force of will very easily.
She doesn't realize it, but Lyza harbors a Ziamichi spirit that fuels her Willpower when she needs it to, often subconsciously drawing upon its power as she comes to need it. Be it in the morning when she needs to finally get up and forces herself to, in a fight that ends up being far more perilous than she initially thought it would be, or even when she needs to force her way through a tough situation that she might not otherwise be able to get through. This spirit fuels her Willpower, and to a small extent her reiatsu, almost by itself. There is a reason, but Lyza doesn't exactly know why yet. She isn't even aware of this spirit at all just yet.Shunpo:
Lyza is capable of a rudimentary Shunpo.Hand to Hand Combat:
If Lyza's body is her temple, then she fights using a full fucking monastery as her weapon. She's only ever used swords as a weapon, otherwise using her body as her main form of self defense. While not proficient in a specific form of martial arts or fighting, Lyza has developed a style that is reminiscent of boxing and taekwondo that involves tight footwork and maneuvering to strike with well aimed and timed blows that target her opponents when they're most vulnerable. However, due to this style of fighting being self taught, it is not the most efficient. It is simply what Lyza is most comfortable with. However, that does not mean it is strictly illegitimate either.
Lyza's fighting style is based on patience and timing while looking for openings and repetitive movements or actions that she can exploit at just the right moment. In doing so, she aims to land single blows that are powerful enough to be fatal or at least maiming. When someone gets in close or just generally pushes Lyza to the defensive, her reflexes are primarily trained to block and redirect strikes while striking in turn when she can. If this doesn't work, she aims to adjust her posture or body to force the blow to strike her in an area that is less impactful or immediately important. If this would throw her off balance completely, she just simply eats the blow and recovers as quickly as possible.
This fighting style is something that Lyza practiced during her seven year training regimen and refined during her time in Hueco Mundo for months straight. Even then she recognizes her hand to hand combat skill as potent and dangerous, but that it still has room for improvement and that it may still be suboptimal.Sword Technique:
Not everything can be determined through raw strength and just her body. Lyza recognized this and took the time to teach herself swordplay during her years of training. Will her skills are nothing special, she was able to hold her own against many Hollows and Arrancar for long periods of time. It was only against those who outskilled her while she used her sword that she ended up resorting back to hand to hand combat and ultimately winning the fight, even if a few of those fights almost ended in her losing.
While her swordplay skills are well above average, she knows she has a lot to learn and will not resort to using a weapon unless her body simply doesn't get the job done. If a blade is needed to slice through her opponent where her fists can't bludgeon them to death, she will summon her sword and cut her opponent down as needed.
Her fighting style with a blade is also focused on timing counterattacks like her unarmed style. Lyza isn't versed in any particular style of swordplay, instead observing them over the course of many years and coming to simple conclusions about their functional similarities but becoming lost on the more complex techniques and styles. In the end, she can use a sword to fight well, but not enough to outmatch anyone truly versed in the way of the blade.Intuition:
Lyza has always been observant, and even during he time of interacting with people only once a week, she still continued to develop this ability the same way she did when she was younger, just at a somewhat lower pace. Lyza's intuition is always evolving and becoming more capable as time goes on, even when she herself isn't training to become physically strong anymore.
There are times where Lyza can pick up on the smallest clue or the strangest of details and determine that something is indeed wrong, but not specifically what. She is no psychic, but she is perceptive and cunning. These two things are enough to make Lyza's natural intuitiveness as powerful as it is. She often can tell when something is out of place, especially when she has dealt with a certain thing or person for a decent amount of time. Human behavior is something that she is particularly adept at, as humans do follow a decent amount of the same behavioral patterns, or at least follow ones from a set list most of the time. It's only when someone or something is truly weird or unnatural that her intuition falls short and leaves her to grasp at straws. It's these times that Lyza feels the most vulnerable, and yet from these things she only continues to learn and grow.Heightened Physical Ability:
Lyza is unnaturally strong, having trained her body almost exclusively with little to no acknowledgment of powers or other special abilities. Lyza is able to topple large buildings with single well-aimed blows, flex at intense angles, and move with near pin point precision. This is just her natural strength combined with the sheer amount of reiatsu she has, not when she's actively attempting to amplify her strength.
When Lyza does
use her reiatsu to amplify her strength, she is capable of far more devastating things than she would otherwise be capable of. Her physical power is amplified three times, her speed is increased just as much, and her senses are heightened to be near impeccable. She can see for miles and notice the smallest of details, hear the slightest of sounds miles away, feel the slightest disturbance of reiatsu, and even smell reiatsu where there might normally not be one. Her senses are also naturally heightened, but not nearly so much that they reach this level without manual reiatsu enhancing.
Lyza's physical durability is also enhanced naturally. Her skin can withstand natural cuts from any weapon or attack of the same or lower tier as her so long as they are not being manually or artificially enhanced. Raw physical force, however, is something else. She may be able to withstand quite a few blows in this state, but she herself is not completely immune to these types of attacks whatsoever, just above average in terms of durability when it comes to them.
I. The Spirit's Basic Information» The Spirit's Name:
Aries» The Spirit's Race:
Soul Fragment» The Spirit's Gender:
None» The Spirit's Age:
30» The Spirit's Written Appearance:
A clone of Lyza, except with red eyes.
I. The Spirit's Personality» The Spirit's Personality:
Aries' personality is simple and straightforward. Its only purpose is to guide Lyza onto a more noble and self righteous path and not the one of self pity and depression that she's on now. Aries' main concern is Lyza's health, which it will bring up on occasion when it actually does decide to talk to her. At no point does it ever feel the need to take over Lyza's body despite its inherent ability to, instead letting her decide her own path fully and simply intending to steer her towards one that will actually benefit her for once in her life.
Aries is fairly blunt, stern, and straightforward. It doesn't beat around the bush, and it knows what it wants and why it exists. Being a manifestation of Lyza's true willpower, it knows what she is capable of, what she likes, and why she does the things she does. They do share a body together, after all, meaning Lyza cannot hold any secrets from Aries whatsoever. In conversation with her, Aries will often tell Lyza what she is doing wrong, ask her questions to try and get her thinking in new ways or about things she hadn't thought of, and focus on disillusioning Lyza from her own harmful point of view. Aries' main goal is Lyza's happiness and other people simply stand in the way of that happiness.
Aries doesn't seem to have any emotions whatsoever, often talking in a way that is reminiscent of your stereotypical floating, omniscient mass in other forms of media. It will tell Lyza things she already knows and remind her of things she needs to do when the time comes so as to keep her from falling further into her awful mental state or to encourage her to take action when she might otherwise not. Aries otherwise has no sense of 'itself' because it doesn't have an 'itself'. Aries is a part of Lyza despite technically being a separate physical entity.
I. The Spirit's History» The Spirit's History:
During Lyza's intense training she was tested many a time mentally and emotionally. Often times she would fall into a rut and ask herself why she was even doing this to herself. What was the point? Why didn't she just quit? But every time, she forced herself to keep going even if it hurt her physically. She'd take her frustrations out on the earth or on Hollows or anything she could find for that matter just to get it out of her system, but it was this ability to turn her emotions into a different form of Willpower that eventually became Aries.
Aries itself has no shape, let alone a corporeal form. It is a separate consciousness that formed one day when Lyza was on the verge of giving up completely. The negativity that she felt was overwhelming to the point of it nearly breaking her mind, but in the last moments of her remaining sanity she let loose a powerful, distorting wave of reiatsu upon both the nearby earth and herself. She screamed and cried to the heavens underneath the pouring rain and in that moment, she forced herself to keep going. She forced herself to continue onwards for the sake of others even if she couldn't remember who they were in her mind numbing emotional pain. Being alone, forcing herself to achieve a strength she didn't necessarily want, it was all so much that it pushed her to the absolute edge, but she remained strong throughout it even if she didn't want to.
Her powerful emotions combined with the distorting reiatsu surrounding her quite literally tore a small portion of her soul off of itself and formed Aries, a second soul that formed from Lyza's innermost desires and the animalistic part of her subconscious that focused purely on survival at all costs. At first, Aries was nothing, not even a being capable of achieving thought. Eventually however, it started to grow and expand along with Lyza until it started gained its own consciousness. It was here that it recognized what it wanted for 'itself', which it recognized as Lyza. It wanted 'itself' to live and be happy, but recognized that it wasn't. It was here that Aries used its influence as a part of Lyza's soul to fuel her will to live and achieve when it felt she needed the boost, leaving Lyza to wonder what her weird, seemingly random boosts of strength were and where they were coming from.
To this day, Aries has yet to communicate with Lyza despite now fully sharing her headspace. It is simply waiting for the right moment, one it deems important where it can teach her what it means to live, as well as many other things that Lyza seems to have forgotten. For now, it continues to lay dormant.
I. The Spirit's Powers» Ziamichi Spirit Powers:Find Yourself:
Lyza's Willpower/Determination and Focus skills have two rankings. The first cannot surpass Adept and is when she is in her usual apathetic state. However, Aries has the ability to raise Lyza's Willpower and give her a small boost to her Reiatsu. During this time, her Willpower/Determination and Focus skills reach their second rank, which is their real rank, albeit only for 5 posts at most. After this time, Aries runs out of fuel and Lyza loses this boost to her skills, reverting them back to their lower rank state.
