» Upgrading: This is nothing more than a few changes to the shield aspect.

Appearance change: The shield's base form is that of black circular shield with a 2-foot diameter, though with the same cyan patterning running along the inside circumference of the shield. In bankai, the random streams of gold are still present,
Ability Additions: The shield has no strap or other visible method of holding itself to Hayden. Instead, it can move freely along his body to his own will, simply sliding to where he wants it to. He can also throw the shield, and it will return to him with the clench of a fist, where it will accelerate until it matches the highest velocity during travel, assuming it hasn't reached him before that point.

In Bankai, while attached to him, he can also change the form of the shield, from size to shape, with the pattern and streams warping to keep along the edge. To shape the shield, he must make a physical motion, pulling outward to expand in a direction, or pushing in to compact the shield. The upper limit to the shield is an increase to 5 squared meters of surface area, simply refusing to stretch further past that. The lower limit is 1 squared foot, refusing to compact any smaller. A shield throw will near instantaneously revert it to the original form, and it will return to the state it was prior to the throw when it returns.

» Why: I had a much better idea for my bankai/shikai after approval. During the application process, after the original idea for the shield was given a no, all I did from that point was remove aspects of it, be it a limiter or a strength and hadn't thought of any real changes to his abilities. I feel this is a much better state for his zanpakuto to be in.
