Times seems to fly when you are having fun; or at least when you have a new roommate. No matter how temporary or permanent her stay was, Kimitsuki was enjoying her time with Hiroi; even if Hiroi wasn't very talkative or emotional. She still enjoyed the girl's company. However, there was always something bothering Kimi in the back of her mind. Why was Hiroi the way she has been this entire time? Why did she seem to so casually desire flesh when it was clear she knew better than to eat human beings; what exactly about her past that caused her to be like so. Indeed, she was the Danava of Hunger; and her hunger was likely unable to be sated no matter how hard anyone tried to sate it. Not to mention, other things bit at the back of Kimi's mind. Her own past, what Kimi felt towards Hiroi, and a whole bunch of other concerns that played upon the consciousness of the Danava. For now, however, she simply wished to relax.

Soon enough, Kimi had opened the door to her home; and the Danava had sat upon her couch. She put her feet up on a nearby table and yawned softly, looking around for Hiroi as she sat on the couch; somewhat exhausted from a long day of work. So, she was glad to be home where she could relax; and maybe spend time with the roommate she was rather fond of.

"Hey Hiroi, I'm home~ Are ya here? I was thinking we could go out somewhere tonight. If you would like, of course."

Hiroi Kiga

The Past is Never Truly Inescapable [Kimitsuki/Hiroi] 6EdIfMt

Artist: Teminite - Song: Ascent - Word Count: NA

There’s an ensuing crash from the kitchen as Kimitsuki announced her presence within the home. Then, multiple clanking sounds occurred as it sounded as if things were being thrown about: metal bowls, pans, and utensils. Moments later, Hiroi appeared from the kitchen with her lower jaw covered in a sticky looking red substance with a flour covered apron, that shares the same redstains as Hiroi’s face, around her usual black clothing. The short Danava had little emotion on her face per usual, but the random flickering of her serpentine eyes to the side as if trying to look back into the kitchen without looking back, and the way her hands fiddled with her clothing, proved that the demon is nervous about something.

“Welcome home, Kimitsuki. Stay out of the kitchen, please and thank you.”

With a bow of her head, Hiroi turns quickly and returns into the kitchen. The sink is then turned on. Now that Kimitsuki is aware that something had or is occurring within the kitchen, the redhead may notice a discerning scent in the air. It’d remind the woman of a bakery as the scents of freshly baked dough and strawberry assaults her nostrils. Well, that scent would make it obvious what the smaller Danava was up to while Kimitsuki was gone, but now, that leaves the question: Why is Kimitsuki not allowed into her own kitchen?

A warm welcome, and the sight of Hiroi was all the demon really wanted. However, the sight of Hiroi was different from usual. Especially given prior to her arrival in the room there were multiple crashes and bangs coming from the kitchen; which gave Kimi reason to concern. Especially when Hiroi emerged wearing an apron covered in flour, and a red substance; with such stains also marring her cute face. It didn't alarm Kimitsuki, but it was also concerning enough for the woman to raise an eyebrow slightly at Hiroi. However, something seemed amiss.

Hiroi never truly conveyed emotion through facial expression; at least not that Kimi knew. However, her body was telling a story of nervousness; and about something that lay behind her in the kitchen. It was even more so proven when Hiroi asked the woman, or more like told her, to stay out of her own kitchen. The Danava blinked at Hiroi, taken aback by the statement. However, she simply smiled at Hiroi in that same warm way before the little Danava left. She didn't particularly know what Hiroi was doing. However, if the smells were anything to judge by, it is quite likely that Hiroi was baking something. But for whom~? No matter whom, Kimi decided to let Hiroi have her privacy until she was ready to let Kimi enter the kitchen; even if it took a little way.

"How was your day, Hiroi~? Not too bad, I hope; especially since it sounds like you've been quite busy while I've been gone. Whatever you are making, it smells fantastic~"

The Danava of Fire, her long hair flowing under and around her, relaxed upon her couch as she waited for Hiroi to either give Kimi permission to enter the kitchen or to bring what she was making to the Danava. Either way, it was nice to have something happening at home instead of returning to nothing and no one. Returning home to see Hiroi there for her, even if Hiroi really wasn't there for Kimi, was quite nice; which had slowly caused the woman to adore Hiroi even more. It was more than just her cuteness, just her presence... something about it felt like how Kimi once felt about Liu. However, it was more tame, measured; and far more like the sensations of caring and affection. Regardless, she was glad to be home with Hiroi. And truly, she did have to wonder just what Hiroi was making in there.

That running water is the sound of Hiroi cleaning the pots and pans she had made use of during her time in the kitchen. Since she is rather short, she had to make use of small steps simply to be able to reach the sink to wash anything. She doesn’t have the ability to float or fly and has to make use of the steps just to reach the cabinets which, then, she’d have to climb the counter and perform rather dangerous deeds just to get something as simple as salt.

As the Danava cleaned the pots, she allowed her ears to stay vacant in case Kimitsuki wished to talk. She had expected the woman to just walk into the kitchen, but hearing the redhead shouting from the other room forced Hiroi’s eyes to roll. What a strange woman. Yet, that woman felt enough for Hiroi. May it be for one reason or another, Hiroi enjoyed Kimitsuki. As someone who rarely cared for showing anything beyond surface level reactions, Hiroi couldn’t help but allow Kimitsuki to infect her from time to time with something more than just a blank stare. Maybe it’s how refreshing smiling is from time to time, or it could possibly be the fact that someone could put something on her face. Whatever the case may be, Hiroi has Kimitsuki to thank for it.

That is why the Danava preferred to talk face to face than yell across the kitchen into another room. For one, it’s just stupid, but she also wanted to see Kimitsuki’s reaction as the red velvet cake is carried in her arms. Of course, it looked a bit strange as if it may have had an extra egg or a little too little flour, but Hiroi had tasted some herself and enjoyed it. It may be a bit unfair to judge its worth based on that alone however considering Hiroi could eat about anything.

“Hiroi baked a cake.” Hiroi displayed with her face still dirty. She then looked a bit differently from normal, her eyes squinted some as the corner of her lips fell a bit. Her eyes looked away towards the ground. Is she embarrassed? It’s a bit difficult to tell due to small movements of her face and the lack of blush, but there is some hesitation there in her movements as the plate is placed down on the small table in the room. “I was bored, so I got a cookbook. The mess in the kitchen will be cleaned up soon so don’t worry.” She had left the water on, and it’s beginning to fill the sink, but Hiroi is lost in her own head right now.

Kimitsuki hummed pleasantly as she waited for Hiroi to finish whatever it was she was doing in the kitchen. Judging by the smell, she was baking; and by the cacophony of noises, she was washing the dishes she used. Kimi hummed, remarking that she would need to get a step stool for Hiroi; so she could more easily cook. After all, Kimi was 5’5” if she didn’t bother with changing her height; so most things in the kitchen were in reach. However, for Hiroi, most things were likely in places too high for her to reach without climbing on the counters; or performing some other stunt. A desire to protect Hiroi rose up in Kimi; and not a motherly nurturing. More like how Kimi felt when she wished to protect someone she cared for deeply. Albeit, she was so uncertain given everything that happened to her recently; and her desire to not push Hiroi away.

Soon enough, as the water was still definitely running in the kitchen, Kimi watched as Hiroi walked from the kitchen; a cake in her arms. It was a Red Velvet cake; quite well made despite Hiroi’s nervousness about the cake. Not to mention, she was being quite adorable; adorable enough that Kimi just had to smile warmly. She put a hand on Hiroi’s cheek after she placed the cake down; then moved the hand to the top of her head.

“I’m sure the cake’s just fine, Hiroi; it looks fantastic.”

Kimi gave Hiroi a warm smile, stood up and hummed as she looked towards the kitchen. They needed plates, forks, and something to cut the cake with.

"Wait right here, I'll get us something to eat the cake with~"

Kimitsuki walked towards the kitchen, and, after she walked in, turned the water off; she didn't wish her kitchen to flood. Not to mention, whatever mess was present, she wholly and completely ignored it. She retrieved a pair of plates, two forks, and a knife to cut the cake with. Then, without any indication that she noticed the mess in the Kitchen, she roamed back to Hiroi and put the plates down next to the cake. Kimi quickly cut rather fairly sized pieces, albeit the two pieces only used a third of the cake. She put the pieces on the plates, pushed one of the plates towards Hiroi, with a fork, and quickly took a bite of her cake.

For Hiroi's first time, and any mistakes that were made, she did make a good cake. Indeed, it didn't look the most handsome cake in the world; and no real cake aficionado would give her a good score. However, Kimi didn't give a damn, it was an excellent Red Velvet cake for Hiroi's first time. Kimi hummed warmly, swallowing her first bite of the cake, and ate just a bit more before finally speaking to Hiroi.

"You did great, Hiroi~ Sure, it's not perfect; but no cake truly can be. And I think you did an amazing job. Thank you for the cake, Hiroi."

Afterwards, Kimi proceeded to finish her cake and, if Hiroi would let her, she would help the smaller Danava clean the kitchen. She didn't mind, of course; but that all depended on Hiroi. Besides, with those skills, it was very possible Hiroi could just make her own food when she needs to eat; as long as she has the means and the ingredients.

What is she? A child? She didn’t require pats on the cheek or head. Yet, she didn’t reprimand Kimitsuki for her actions. The redhead is simply too charismatic for her own good at times. Hiroi is ignorant to the thoughts in Kimitsuki’s head, but the small Danava can’t help but think she’d be annoyed by it if she knew.

“Of course the cake is fine… Hiroi followed the instructions perfectly.”

Wanting the hand off her head, the sensation feeling far too comforting for Hiroi’s taste, the Danava flinched a bit and raised her arms slowly. However, Kimitsuki’s smile disarmed her, causing her to pause. What a damning expression. How does one wear it so easily? Ah. It matters little anyway. The hand has left her head, even if it left Hiroi’s head feeling a bit vacant. Though, she basically focuses her attention onto the cake that sits waiting.

Hiroi stayed right there, up until Kimitsuki returned which had her switching her attention to the redhead and the utensils she carried. Watching Kimitsuki cut the cake, Hiroi found her mouth absently salivating which forced her to lick her lips tasting the ingredients that lingered on her face. She had forgotten about her multiple taste tests in her pursuit to make something edible to people beside herself. Annoyed with herself now, she begins wiping at her chin with the apron as her plate is set for her.

“Of course I did great… I did say I followed instructions…, critics be damned…”

She gave a sour look at the cake. Scrunching up her face proved easier than any positive emotion. Funny enough, Hiroi had yet to eat hers. The Danava had watched Kimitsuki intensely just to see if her creation was good enough. Hearing it satisfied her enough for her to turn and head towards the kitchen once more. Kimitsuki may help if she desires. Hiroi isn’t showing it, of course, but Kimitsuki has filled her with an uplifting feeling that allowed for her chest to ache ever slightly. Be it relief or something more concerning matters little with such a mess existing still.

“Come. Come. Everything must be cleaned before those pesky flies trespass once more. I dislike having to hunt them.”

The cake truly was delicious, and Kimi had to do her best not to savor every bite. She wished to help Hiroi clean, after all; so sitting there and eating her cake while Hiroi cleaned was not the thing to do. She watched Hiroi wiped her chin, and seemed to study Kimi quite closely; likely wanting to see if what she made was good. Clearly satisfied, Hiroi turned around and spoke of how the kitchen needed to be cleaned before flies entered the home again. She had a point, the things were damned annoying; and certainly were not tasty. Which is why Kimi would offer to incinerate them if she could; even if the smell could be unpleasant, she did not wish to cause Hiroi displeasure by having to hunt flies.

A quick flourish of her fork, a few inaudible scrapes, and Kimi's cake was gone; having long disappeared in her mouth. She let out a satisfied sigh before placing the plate on the table. Afterwards, a quick movement to become standing, and then she tied up her hair; using a hair tie to hold it. Meanwhile, she used some clips to keep her hair away from her eyes. A few more moments of getting her hair out of the way, and then Kimi ventured into the kitchen; in which the mess she previously ignored.

It truly was quite a mess. Pots, mixing bowls, and various utensils were piled up in the sink; which seemed a little overzealous. There was flour caking the counters and parts of the floor, cream cheese sprinkled here and there, and the remnants of uncooked cakes and maybe even some cooked ones; likely the left overs of Hiroi doing multiple taste-tests for Kimi's sake. After all, Kimi couldn't eat anything without discrimination; unlike Hiroi. Such a sight, even if it was messy, caused Kimi's heart to swell some; affection for Hiroi rising forth. Even if she got bored and wanted to make a cake, she did make the cake for Kimi. She smiled at the small woman, and hummed as she looked around at the kitchen.

She probably could use her liberation flame to remove the flour and some cake bits but, it wouldn't take care of every single thing. A lot of what this kitchen needed to become clean again was elbow grease; and lots of it. Kimitsuki hummed softly, snapping her fingers as her liberation flame burned through the kitchen; liberating the surfaces of the flour and causing the flour to disappear or be incinerated with her flames. From there, she simply did what she could to liberate the surfaces of the kitchen from the other messes. AS everything was, she was not wholly successful. True cleaning supplies were needed. She opened a cabinet under the sink, pulled out a couple pairs of gloves, various cleaning supplies, and then she pulled a trash can nearby them.

"Welp~! My fire can only do so much for us, after all; time we get to cleaning. I can take care of the dishes unless you'd rather do em; then I'll tackle the floor and counters. How does that sound, Hiroi~?"

Fire! Though, it’s helpful fire that starts to clean up the mess in the kitchen which Hiroi found strange. However, it seemed to just burn away little of the mess in all honesty. Hiroi noticed the lack of flour or bits of food wasting around now. Well, that just means she doesn’t have to sweep or eat the spoiled batter of the cake which is exceptional in her mind. Still, a mess remains, and if Kimitsuki desires to help, Hiroi gives the redhead no disgruntlement. The faster this is done, the sooner she can plan her next kitchen disaster.

The oven is pulled open revealing the explosive mess that is cooked and uncooked cake batter that has now stuck itself to the oven’s walls. With her tongue poking out her mouth, the small demon crawls into the oven and begins to wipe it down with a rag throwing much of the batter out onto the floor to be swept later, and it doesn’t take long for her to appear again with her tongue blackened from licking up the more resistant stains. Hiroi did not have a happy expression on her face.

“The oven has been cleaned.”

Her expression, scrunched but also seemingly pleased, distorted just a bit more before she sneezed. She’d rub at her nose getting it stained as well before moving to grab a broom. “Wipe anything that remains onto the floor. Hiroi shall sweep it all, and she promises not to eat it.” That’s a promise she’s unsure if she’d keep however. The demon eats at random, devouring weird things along with normal things. As she licked the oven, she’d most likely lick the floor. Such random mannerisms are expected of a being derived around being able to and wanting to eat everything.

Hiroi had a very interesting way of cleaning the oven. Indeed, she did make the oven sparkly clean; but not without turning her tongue black from the things she had licked up. It didn't sicken Kimitsuki, very little could these days; but it did surprise her. Albeit, she felt the slightest urge to giggle before it was quickly suppressed; she did not wish to laugh at Hiroi. Besides, the little demon's work on the oven was quite excellent. Kimi nodded at Hiroi to confirm that she heard the woman before Hiroi grabbed a broom and stated what to do with anything that remains. Kimitsuki hummed softly, moving around the room and scraping and shoveling crumbs, scraps of food, and the general mess towards the floor; occasionally using her Liberating flame to help with ridding herself of some meddlesome stains. Soon, however, Kimitsuki had made the counters quite clean; albeit at the cost of the floor being quite dirty. The demon hummed, watching as Hiroi likely started to sweep up the mess upon the floor.

"Well, if you do eat anything; try not to eat too much of it if you can. While I doubt either of us could get sick from eating things off the floor; it's probably better to not risk it. However, I know I can't stop you~"

Afterwards, Kimitsuki moved towards the sink; making sure to stay out of Hiroi's way so she could sweep. Soon, the demon had set to washing the dishes, using the heat of her body, and the tiniest bit of fire, so she could heat up the water just a little bit more; just so it no longer felt cold. After that, she set to the task of scrubbing, washing, cleaning, and generally making sure that all of the dishes that Hiroi used were clean. It was likely a time consuming task; but Kimitsuki didn't mind. A little bit of mundane was not bad for the Danava of Fire. Besides, Kimitsuki was honestly enjoying herself spending some time with Hiroi; even if that time spent together was cleaning the kitchen.

Hiroi goes about sweeping what is thrown onto the floor, making sure to keep all the mess together in a pile. She’s unsure what she’d actually do with it, but the idea of eating it bothered her little. Kimitsuki showed concern however, and that felt enough for her to search for the dustpan and, soon, dump the mess into the trash bin. “Trash gone.” She’d say to no one in particular before making her way, with a wobbly to her steps, over to Kimitsuki. Ah. She can’t exactly get up to the sink like this. With a bit of time, she’s pulled over the small steps she uses and climbs up until onto the counter next to the sink swinging her legs passively while watching the redhead wash the dishes.

“...Can Kimi swim?”

Hiroi rarely calls Kimitsuki ‘Kimi’. In fact, she never has. It was a random moment that’ll probably happen again just as randomly. Hiroi didn’t seem concerned at all about it. Her red eyes are focused on the water as Kimitsuki cleans, and the want to talk about something sparked her mind to come up with anything. Besides, for a being born of fire, swimming seemed like something that they’d find difficulty in accomplishing.
