Heads Up! It's Showtime ♡ [Inanna, Vegas]

"H-hwey Vegas!"

Nanna spoke with a full mouth, chasing after the bigger girl while trying to navigate the big city with her. It was so vast and populated, there was surely something that needed to be dealt with here for a couple of magical girls. Protecting the people with love and friendship, overcoming all adversaries and everything like that.

She really was hyper, it was all that sugar she ate now that no one regulated it and it just got her so pumped and loud.

"What do you want to do today? Was school fun? You know I should go to school with you. That way we're close if something big goes down and we need to tagteam. Hehe."

"Inanna, hey! School was fun, we learned about the water cycle. Did you know rain goes back up??"

Vegas was clearly pretty excited about such a minor bit of scientific knowledge, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she talked about it. Of course, she also followed Inanna's point about trouble, though she didn't really know if Inanna would like...enjoy school at all.

"Wellllll... You could definitely join up if you wanted to, but you might not like it much. It's kinda boring sometimes. It'd definitely be good if we were ready for a team-up at any time, though..."

"The water cycle? No.... No way! It does!? How does it go back up?"

Inanna didn't get it, it didn't even make sense but it sounded so cool. She already imagined how it must look when the rain flew back up to the sky after falling. It must not happen often, she'd never seen it rain upwards in her life and she was an earthbourne demon.'

"You think so? I don't think it'd be boring, not when you're around heeheen. It's boring you know, when I'm stuck waiting outside all day or just trying to sleep in your wardrobe all day. It's stuffy and hot in there you know."

She said it matter of factly. How did she even sign up for school? Did she just go in there and ask? Would she need to write a letter to Mum and ask her to sign her up for school!? Awwww, no way. Maybe she could just send the paperwork to her and she could send it back. That might work.

"So when the water gets warm, like on the ground after it rains, it ev...evaporates! You know like when you boil water and the steam comes up? It's like that! Then all that turns into clouds."

Vegas put her hands confidently on her hips, smiling very proudly at knowing such cool things. Wasn't she smart?

"I guess that's true... Well, we can talk to mom about it when we get home, I'm sure she'll know what to do. She's smart!"

Excitedly taking Inanna's hand in hers, Vegas walked cheerfully down the street with a spring in her step and an ear out for trouble. After all, if there was any danger, they'd have to respond. That was what a magical girl did, after all!

"No way! Is that how they make clouds? Whoa, that's so coooool. Hey, I remember hearing from somewhere that we're made up of lots of water. Why don't we evaporate?"

Maybe Inanna was asking a question out of their ballpark. Magical girls didn't evaporate anyway, the bad guys did under their super cute power that blasted away their evildoings~! She grabbed Vegas' hand eagerly and laughed with a grin, the danava of freedom was pretty content. Vegas' mum was so cool, she baked and she also was so fun and carefree.

"You think so? You know my mum would be able to do it in a pinch, I bet. Except she doesn't live here, you know she's really good with boring paperwork."

The hybrid pulled her hood over a little more with her free hand, people looked at her ears funny. She didn't like it, her ears were fine and no one should stare at them. It didn't matter, Twinkle Vanilla wasn't ashamed of nothing. The kids loved her cute ears and bubbly personality.

"Hey Vegas. I've never met your Dad before. Is he cool like your Mum?"

"Hmmmm... I dunno actually. Maybe people don't get hot enough?"

Vegas just shrugged that one off and left that particular avenue of conversation behind. She liked to focus on non-school stuff when school was over, especially when she had a friend to talk to! The fish had always been good friends, but Inanna was more fun to talk with for sure.

"Oooooh... My parents aren't super good with paperwork, I don't think. I'm pretty sure they usually do a lot of the more complicated stuff together."

She was a little surprised by that last question, but then she realized her dad really hadn't ever met Inanna. Oh yeah...

"Dad's super cool! He's super tough and super strong, and super nice. What about you? I know your mom was boring, but what about your dad?"

"Either way, we should remember that. Evaporation might save our butts one day you know."

Wild and fantastic images of scenes where evaporation came to the rescue and help them beat the bad guy flew through Nanna's mind. All of which were highly unrealistic and entirely fantastical. Regardless, she wasn't one to discard cool little tidbits like that. It was fun to learn until it wasn't.

"Huh. I think they seemed real smart ahaha, paperwork can't be that hard for real, like it's just writing on some paper. Anyway, Mum's not boring! Well, she is really unfun I guess and works to much but she's a good mum. Yep. I don't know much about Dad, Mum never talked about him to me. I like to think he's a free spirit like me though, right? I bet he's out there helping people and doing good deeds right now."

"Hmm... That's true, that's true..."

Fishing her notebook out of her backpack, Vegas flipped to her notes about evaporation, folding the corner of the page down before tossing it back into her bag.

"Oooooh, that sounds like my dad too! Not so much now, but he says he used to go all over the place and fight bad guys. Have you ever been to Hawaii? He said he went there once and totally fought off a ton of demons! He even blew up a giant robot by himself."

Vegas spoke quite proudly about her father, obviously looking up to him a pretty good bit.

"He's pretty cool, hehe."

She nodded in response, Vegas got it. It was super important to study up and be ready for anything but it was also important to just have fun. That's why Nanna wasn't going to waste time training. How did she even train? Cute girls like them shouldn't have spend hours doing pushups and that, it's so hard and boring!

"That's so cool...!"

Nanna trailed off, she didn't really think of her dad much. Did Mum miss Dad? Maybe she'd find him one day and take him back to see her. He was probably as cool as Vegas' dad. Totally! Well, maybe except for the part about fighting off a giant robot by himself.

"Hey, hey. How did he beat the robot? Tell meeee."

"Isn't it?? It's super cool!"

Vegas spoke more excitedly than ever now, this whole story one of her all time favorites that dad told her before bed. She pretty much had the whole thing memorized, though sometimes dad would tell it and she didn't remember a part, so she guessed she didn't quite have the whole thing down.

"So this robot was super big! Like, the size of a building! And dad beat it up, used his super cool fire powers to make it extra hot! Then, once it was all messed up, he jumped up to the top of a building, and then fell right onto it with a crazy strong punch!"

Naturally, she was punctuating most of these story beats with sound effects and hand gestures, to better illustrate exactly how cool it had really been.
