I. Basic Information

» Name: Saera Kirin
» Alias: Spellblade
» Age: 426, appears 23
» Gender: Female

» Association: Gotei United

» Appearance Written: Saera stands at roughly 5'7, with long dark brown hair reaching to the small of her back that she often keeps either in a ponytail or in a braid. Or, if the situation demands it, tucked away under her top to keep it from being an easy handhold in a fight. Her almond colored eyes constantly blaze with an intense energy, invigorating for some, unnerving for others, but unquestionably potent. Her pale skin is marred somewhat by the evidence of a lifetime of combat and combat practice. Scars run across her arms and torso with almost distressing frequency, running back and forth over each other on her flesh. Her hands, while mostly free of scars, are calloused and rough from constant weapons work, and realtively more recently from the strain of pushing her spiritual power to it's limits through them as she strives to perfect her abilities. Her body is almost entirely lean muscle, trained for endurance fighting and brief, if exhausting, bursts of fantastic strength, with only the minimum amount of body fat necessary to be healthy.

I. Personality

» Personality: The first word an outside observer might use to describe Saera would likely be 'Driven'. If she wants something, she will do whatever she needs to do to get it, be that a level of skill, a possession, a position, or anything else that catches her eye, and not even the apocalypse would stop her from working towards her goals. The second word that an outside observer might use to describe Saera would be blunt. Most likely after she found said observer and threatened to "Break your useless legs and use them to make your crutches if you don't stop stalking me and find a damn job to do." Saera is not afraid to say what she feels needs to be said in any situation, to any person.

Unfortunately, there have been occasions where such outbursts have led to questions about Saera's loyalty, her devotion to the cause of her allies and peers. Questions that are difficult to answer. Saera does not believe in blind loyalty to anything or anyone, she believes that it is the mark of a weak person to act without question just because 'My leader said to' or 'It is the way things are done'. Her belief is that if said leaders cannot either explain why an action is necessary, or at least failing that have their past actions speak for them to inspire trust in their character, then they have no business giving those orders. Furthermore, if the organization or entity who establishes the laws and traditions that people must follow cannot prove that their methods are correct in the world as it is, then that means that it's time for those methods to change.

Considering all of this it is unsurprising that Saera is a very boistrous and outgoing person. She is very sociable, if a bit domineering, and enjoys spending her downtime actually doing things, be that engaging in drinking contests at the local bar, or organizing an impromptu boxing match with her comrades. Regardless of what method she finds to entertain herself however, it's guaranteed to be loud and almost guaranteed to also involve someone going to a doctor, or property damage.

What Saera doesn't want anyone to know, what she refuses to admit to herself, is that, while not a lie or a mask, she uses her boisterous nature to hide her own insecurities. The simple fact is Saera is absolutely terrified of abandonment and isolation. Her fears are so potent she's honestly uncomfortable just sleeping in a room where she can't hear the sounds of others in their rooms or otherwise moving about. Annoyingly, her fear of abandoment also means that she does her best to make many friends, but still doesn't let people really get close to her, afraid that if she loses them the pain will be that much worse. Instead she just attempts to laugh off or deflect any attempts to get further in than she readily allows them.

I. History

» History:

Human life:
Born in 1994 Saera joined the Human world well before the dual Crisis of Aizen's attempted rise to power and the advent of the Ender Demon, and thus before spiritual awareness began to blossom in the larger portions of humanity. Luckily she was born into a fairly normal, and relatively happy middle class family in the Chugoku region of Japan. Growing up Saera was, not a prodigy exactly, but certainly put in the work to try and become one. She had an insatiable drive to be the best at anything she tried, regardless of if she had any talent at it or not. Academics and sports, like most children going through school, were the main focuses of these passions, and her focus was so fierce that she wasn't even aware of the strange and sudden destruction in Karakura that her Parents became so worried about.

She did not have that luxury when the Ender Demon made itself known. As the entire world fell into chaos at the hands of an immensely powerful being that the vast majority of Humanity was unprepared to even believe in, let alone combat, Saera's life was completely uprooted. No longer did she have the luxury of trying to have the best test scores, or complete the track course with the fastest time, now all of her focus and drive was focused solely on survival. A task which, after only a month of panicked fleeing and desperate scrabbles to avoid getting caught in the spiritual crossfire, she failed at. Saera's death at the age of 15 was not peaceful, it was not defiant, it was scared, helpless, and heartwrenching. The building she and her parents had taken shelter in had collapsed in the night, instantly killing many, though since she and her parents were close to the exit her parents at least got lucky. They managed to escape the wreckage desperately pulling their daughter along, only for Saera to be trapped by a falling piece of debris, crushing her arm and separating her from her parents, though she was at least in a pocket within the wreckage. In her last moments she could hear the desperate scrabbling and wailing of her parents trying to reach her, pulling at the debris to try and open a gap in the pile of fallen rubble to reach her, and at the last moment, just as she saw a hand manage to push a small portion of the wreckage away and reach out to her, the large piece of rubble above her shifted, and completed it's fall to the ground, killing her.

Life in Soul Society:
Saera's memories of her early days as a plus are completely nonexistent. Likely owing to the fact that after death she was rather swiftly scooped up and eaten by a Hollow, who was slain years later, releasing her soul to finally enter the Soul Society. Even then Saera's early memories of life in Soul Society are hazy, mostly being just memories of being scared, angry, hungry, and being beaten up a lot by people bigger than her.

Her first real memory in the Soul Society was of waking up in a small room, covered in bandages and with a warm, wet cloth sitting on her head. She remembers being unable to do much more than moan weakly in confusion and distress, only to suddenly be surprised by the sound of a sliding door being pushed back and the sounds of someone hurriedly walking up to her side. She remembers hearing this person murmuring something she couldn't make out as he leaned over her taking the warm cloth off of her head and replacing it with a cool one before he began to check over her bandages. She could vaguely tell that he looked to be a bald man somewhere in his middle ages, and in her semi-lucid state she called out to him, an image of a man she couldn't remember, but caused her heart to ache far more than her body did placing itself over the man as she weakly called out.

"D..Daddy?"

The man froze up, and Saera could hear him take a shaking breath before he said something that sounded vaguely like 'penance' before more clearly saying "Don't worry, I'm here. It'll be alright." Saera remembers feeling relieved at this statement, before slowly fading back into darkness.

Later she found out that the man who had rescued her was named Kenshiro, and that he had found her nearly dead in an alley when he went into the main part of the settlement to pickup some supplies that he couldn't make himself, his home being by itself within a small forest and mostly self sufficient through gardening and otherwise gathering from the forest itself, and that he felt moved to rescue her. To make matters worse when he got her to his home it had turned out that she was suffering from malnutrition as well as a minor fever, likely from all of her cuts and scrapes being untreated and allowed to get infected. It took him nearly two months to nurse her back to health, but not once did he complain, and after she was healthy he never demanded she leave. Feeling that she should somehow repay Kenshiro Saera didn't make to leave herself either, instead throwing herself into helping him keep his home running and perform all of the tasks necessary to survive out in the wilds. Saera did this for weeks, and then the weeks became months, and the months became years, until Saera could hardly remember that she meant to leave eventually, the two of them having long accepted that they had become a small family of sorts.

Unsurprisingly, as they grew closer Kenshiro became more and more concerned about the condition he had found Saera in, until he eventually pulled her aside one day and told her in no uncertain terms that he was going to teach her to defend herself. While more than a little surprised at this development, especially because she'd had no idea that Kenshiro had any knowledge of martial arts, let alone a seemingly endless knowledge of bladed weaponry and how to use it, she quickly threw herself into his daily lessons with the same fervor and energy she set towards any task. Again years passed, and the two grew even closer through this training, until, one day after having made a run for supplies for Saera had something she felt she needed to confront her father about.

Finding him in their garden Saera walked up to him and called out to him, "Father? I want to ask you something." Saera noted with some happiness that when she called him Father he no longer hesitated or acted surprised like he used nearly a year before when she finally decided that related or not she considered this man her father, regardless of if he wanted her to or not. Instead he just kept working, and spoke up "Yes? And what might that be?"

After a brief moment of silence, Saera momentarily considering how to phrase this before just jumping right in like she normally did, Saera responded, "You should open up a Dojo."

This made Kenshiro pause, "A dojo? Why? I'm already teaching you, why should I have to bring strangers into this?"

Raising an eyebrow despite Kenshiro still facing away from her Saera shot back, "Because you obviously love teaching, you seem happiest when you're helping me correct some stance I've missed or trying to teach me something new, there's none of that reservedness or sadness in your eyes that you normally have."

Kenshiro flinched, Saera had confronted him multiple times about why he would sometimes just began to stare off into space, apparently making a rather regretful decision, and she kept insisting that he constantly looked as if he was carrying some great weight on his shoulders. However, he refused to tell her why that was, or anything about his past for that matter, and as such it was a bit of a sore subject between them. However, he didn't respond, so Saera continued.

"Not to mention our house was obviously meant to be a dojo at some point, or did you really think that I was just going to accept that massive room right in the front of the house was just 'a badly planned sitting room'."

Again Kenshiro flinched, though this time out of embarrassment, that had not been a very smooth lie.

"And finally, I actually gave in to my curiosity and went into that dojo in town today, and you know what I saw? Forty students who were struggling with the basics. Children and adults, and an 'instructor' who just kept yelling at them to continue without showing them any better! You'd make a much better teacher than that!"

Kenshiro sighed and finally spoke back, "Saera, I just don't feel comfortable bringing that many stran-"

Saera cut Kenshiro off, "And didn't you say you wanted me to meet more people now that I'm older? This would be a great way for me to do that without having to go into town by myself when I'd rather stay here."

With another heavy sigh Kenshiro dusted his hands off and stood up, "I need to go think. Finish the weeding for me," and walked quietly back into their home.

Knowing better than to push her father after he pulled the 'I need to think' card, Saera got to work in the garden, and a week later was rewarded when she came back from gathering mushrooms to find a young man in the main room of their home wearing a simple Gi as her father ran him through the beginning motions of the first shortsaff Kata.

Slowly, as word that Kenshiro's teaching wasn't quite like the other local Dojo's spread through word of mouth more and more students joined the fledgling Dojo. Saera couldn't say how long this lasted as she saw people come and go in a blur of faces as the years passed. Every now and then she would befriend one, but eventually they all disappeared to be replaced by new faces, something that greatly concerned Kenshiro. Saera's suddenly slower aging, a shocking disregard towards passing time, and her ever growing appetite were only a few signs of Saera becoming something greater than a mere plus, but when he thought about the possibility of losing her somewhere beyond his reach he just couldn't make himself tell her about the potential she was cultivating.

Unfortunately, the universe didn't let him get to keep that to himself forever.

One day many, many years after she'd been taken in by Kenshiro, not that Saera was really aware of how much time had passed, Saera returned to the Dojo after a supply run in town to see a brutal scene. People lay everywhere, battered, bruised, bleeding, and in many cases with their arms or legs bending at unnatural angles. The main doors to the Dojo, to her home, were torn apart and cast to the sides, and more injured lay inside. Three figures caught Saera's attention. The first was a large, hairy, roughly dressed man who was seemingly pinned to the wall by the blade of a long sword straight through his chest. The reason he caught her attention was that he was wearing clothing with armor pads that matched with roughly half of the injured people she saw, the other half being the current crop of students.

The second figure she saw was her Father, leaning against a wall, one arm hanging limp and useless, covered in blood, and seemingly in great pain, and the final form she saw was that of a black clad stranger with their sword out, blood dripping down the edge. Saera's vision swam red and without thinking she charged the only standing person present, grabbing a discarded Katana from the ground as she did so. Screaming incoherently she charged the stranger, who yelped in surprise and went to block her strike. Incoherently angry or not Saera had been training with various weapons for most of her life, and it clearly showed. Despite her emotions and inability to think straight years of muscle memory kept her movements precise and deadly, the stranger clearly having to actually work to keep up with her.

Before the fight could get very far though a faint voice cut through the red fog of Saera's mind.

"Saera, Saera stop. He didn't do this, he's the only reason I'm alive." Saera froze like a statue at the sound of her father's voice, weak though it was, before the blade she was holding clattered to the ground as she dropped it in her rush to kneel beside her father.

"Dad what happened? I just came back and everyone's hurt and you're hurt and there's this stranger-"

Kenshiro cut Saera off with a weak laugh that devolved into a fit of distressingly wet coughing. "Saera that man is a Shinigami. He used his Kido to stun that beast of man I skewered long enough for me to finish him off. I honestly don't know who he and his cohorts were, some kind of Dojo gone bandit? Whoever they were they just showed up and started to attack. We put up a good fight, but that beast waited until his underlings were dealt with, then took down any survivors before coming at me..." Kenshiro cut off into another set of wheezing coughs as Saera began to panic all over again.

"A-all right, I'll apologize to him later, but we need to get you to a doctor, I-I can go get one from town, if I run as fast as I can I'll-"

Kenshiro raised his good arm and grasped Saera's shoulder in a rapidly weakening hold, "No Saera. I'm going to die here. I'm going to be reborn, but don't let this drag you down. You have so much potential Saera, and I love you to much for you to let this stop you from reaching it. I was selfish Saera. When I first brought you in I did it because you needed me, I became your father because you needed me to be, and I needed to repay my own crimes in some way. But as I watched you grow, become who you are today I began to love you more than my own self. No matter how this started, you are my Daughter, and it's long past time I do my duty as your father and give you the opportunities you need."

With that he turned his head to the Shinigami in the room. "You there boy, my name is Kenshiro Hanakori, and this woman is my Daughter. She's amassed a large amount of reiryoku, more than enough to have joined the academy for a very long time. Take her in, let her grow."

Kenshiro took a deep, shuddering breath, "And give her the sword sitting in my back room. She'll be able to show you where it is. I haven't wielded her in an age, but it will make a fine partner and asauchi for my daughter."

Turning back to his daughter Kenshiro took in the woman he had raised one last time and chuckled weakly, "Where does time go? I swear it was only yesterday I took you in as a bloodied wastrel in the street, but look at you now. You've grown so much, and you have so much more to go. Make me proud my daughter."

Kenshiro shakingly used his one functioning arm to wrap around Saera, pulling her into one last hug that she returned as fiercely as she dared, tears streaming down her face as he whispered into her ear for one last time.

"I love you Saera, and I always will."

As his body fell slack Saera's anguished scream tore through the forest before breaking down into the sobbing of a broken woman.

Eventually the Shinigami, who had arrived after detecting conflict in the area, was able to get Saera to leave her father, and helped her dig him a grave next to their home. When they were done however he had to take her, and the sword she showed him how to find, back to the Gotei, both to have her tested according to her father's last wishes, and to file a report on his death. As it happened Kenshiro had at one time been a Shinigami, not necessarily a major one, but one with quite some skill with most weapons, and in fact had served to train bladed warfare to many members of the Gotei long ago, though during the chaos of the Ender Demon he disappeared, and after the smoke settled the Gotei had just presumed him dead, unable to spare the resources to go looking for him. In fact the only reason this Shinigami knew who he had been was because he had been in one of the last groups to be trained by Kenshiro. The Shinigami assumed that either Kenshiro had recognized him, or had been getting delusional in his last moments (though he kept that suspicion to himself) and that's why he bothered to identify himself in his last moments, but regardless since he knew him, Kenshiro's words did in fact carry weight in this situation.

When Saera learned of Kenshiro's history though, she did have one question that she couldn't keep in.

"If Father was a Shinigami like you in his past, then why couldn't he use Kido like you did to save himself?"

The Shinigami was visibly uncomfortable with Saera's question, and it took him a while to answer, but eventually Saera's intense stare forced an answer out of him.

"If I had to guess? He probably couldn't. From what I remember Kenshiro was never very good with Kido, like, at all. He could fire off a few basic spells, but for the most part he relied on his more physical skills. Not to mention he'd been missing for a very long time. As out of practice as he must have been he probably couldn't."

Saera was silent for a time, before softly asking, "So he didn't abandon me?"

The Shinigami felt his heart cry out for the poor girl, but he didn't know her, and he frankly didn't know how to handle a situation like this, so he just did the best he could.

"No he didn't, I'm sure he did the best he could, but hey, let's go get you signed up for the rest of your life huh? I'm sure he knew what he was talking about when he told me to get you into the academy, so let's go."

Saera didn't respond as she silently followed behind the Shinigami.

So that was how Saera eventually found herself in the academy of the Gotei, their testing of her internal reserves finding that she was in fact not only capable of becoming a Shinigami, but that she had been so for quite some time, though as her spiritual abilities aside from regular weapons work was utterly untrained and unrefined, so she was at no real advantage over anyone else. Not that her untrained nature stopped her from diving into her studies and training with an almost feral intensity. In particular she focused on furthering her swordplay, and Kido. Her father telling her how the Shinigami, she never got his name, had managed to save him even for a small time using the demon arts had lit an obsessive fire in Saera's heart, causing her to pour every ounce of her being into bringing her mystical skills in line with her martial, and then to push even further in both. Her almost reckless obsession with these skills was so strong that it even effected her other studies in the academy, unfortunately to their detriment, one example being her skill with flash step, she developed it just enough to pass muster and no further, despite knowing that she would have to make up for it later in life.

To a lesser degree she also threw herself into attempts to commune with the Zanpakutou left behind by her father. Having it in place of an Asauchi meant that it was her final link to him, and even though her zanpakutou would be forged from her own soul, she knew that there would be a piece of that spirit, of that forging, that would be of her Father, that would tie her to him. As such she would often forgo sleep to spend all night meditating with the blade to deepen her attunement to it.

What little free time she had was dedicated to the rebuilding of her and her Father's home, a place she was determined to keep as her home as long as she lived, and maybe even open the dojo back up when she found time.

After graduating from the academy Saera joined the ranks of the Fourth Division, deciding to push herself through combat to master the skills she continued to hone.

I. Equipment

» Equipment: [If your Shinigami has any equipment? Put it here. If they don't, skip this section.]

I. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills

» Racial Abilities:

Martial Prowess: You know the saying about fearing the man who has practiced 1 kick 10000 times over the person who's practiced 10000 kicks once? Well, Saera's the woman who's practiced 10000 kicks 10000 times. Well over half of Saera's spiritual life was spent being trained by a 'retired' Shinigami in the physical martial arts, and while he did focus more on her weapons training than her unarmed, he certainly didn't allow her to get away without knowing how to throw a punch. Having spent literally centuries refining her technique in combat Saera's skills are truly something to behold, and while there are certainly individuals out there who are more skilled those people are very few and far between. From Karate to Tai Chi, from the Zweihander to the Kusarigama, there are virtually no combat or weapon styles that Saera is not at least proficient in, if not a master of.

Hardened Body: Saera's life with Kenshiro, while certainly happy, was not one of luxury. Every moment of the day was spent doing something. Training, maintaining the garden, cutting down trees for firewood, chopping said firewood, making long treks into the forest or to the closest town to gather supplies, and performing any other task that might need to be done made up the vast majority of Saera's everyday activities. As a result of all of this physical exertion Saera's body has been strengthened far more than the average person's, allowing her to perform seemingly impossible feats, such as lifting an ancient tree by herself or running at a breakneck pace for an entire day.

The Durability of her body didn't escape these rigors unaltered either. Over the course of her life her heavy physical activity often lead to Saera getting battered, bruised, and broken. Pulled muscles, broken arms, concussions, strained ligaments. You name it, she's probably had it, and most of it her fault as well, refusing to acknowledge her own limits. Over time however, her body adapted to these events, leaving her tougher and harder to injure because of them. That they've left her with some pretty cool scars isn't all bad either.

Targeted Determination: Saera is, to be blunt, obsessively goal oriented. Without a defined goal her behavior is pretty standard, sure she'll push herself to the absolute limit, maybe even just a little farther, but she'll still listen to that little annoying niggle in the back of her mind called the 'survival instinct'. Giver a goal however? That voice is silenced, the blinders are put on, and may whatever beings care to have mercy on anyone or anything between her and that goal. There is a stipulation though, her goal can't be nebulous, like 'I have to kill this hollow because it's my job' or anything similarly weak. Her cause has to be solid, powerful, and important enough to light a fire in her belly, like 'I have to get that child out of here before they get killed and that hollow's in my damn way'. At that point, she'll either accomplish her goal, or kill herself and everything in her way trying.

Kido Specialization: Ever since joining the academy to become a Shinigami, and most certainly continuing since graduation, Saera has devoured any knowledge on the Demon Arts she could get her eyes on. Attacks, wards, bindings, healing even though she has no aptitude for it, any and every spell she could find to learn she has added to her repertoire, and in some cases tweaked to fit her preferences. By using her zanpakutou as a spellcasting focus Saera has been able to alter some spells, namely attack Kido that utilize a blast of energy, to augment her physical strikes. Either by wrapping her fists or blades in the energy of the spell, or more frequently, firing the spell off in such a way as to propel her strike forwards with more force.

I. Sealed Powers

» Zanpakutô Name: Tsuki no Ryū

» Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance: Tsuki no Ryū takes the appearance of a great, wingless dragon, with brilliant white scales similar in depiction to the mythical Chinese Lung dragons. Cresting out of the frills where her head joins the rest of the body are two great antlers, seeming to have come from a massive deer. Her four eyes, one pair directly above the other, contain vast fields of stars, interrupted only by the bright yellow of her Sclera and the pitch blackness of her slit pupils. Her claws shine as if they were created of polished steel, and her voice speaks sibilant through the mind of Saera when she speaks, great power and restraint hinted at in her words.

» Inner World: [What is your Zanpukto's inner world like?] Tsuki no Ryūexists in the night sky above an infinite grassy plain, fireflies flitting between the blades of grass that dance in the constant gentle breeze as she looks down from her perch, wrapped tightly around the moon itself. She only leaves her perch rarely to speak with Saera in the field itself, preferring to stay wrapped about the Moon, speaking directly into Saera's mind.

» Zanpakutô Appearance: Tsuki no Ryū sealed appearance is that of a standard katana, though with the wrapping about the hilt seeming to be of the scaled hide of some kind of reptile and the guard having the kanji for Moon embossed on it's center.

» Sealed Zanpakutô Power: Tsuki no Ryū has no particularly useful power when sealed, but it does still have an effect on the world around it. Tsuki no Ryū radiates a constant chill that grows more intense the more angered Saera becomes, and when she's particularly enraged can cause the temperature of an entire room drop by several degrees and cause frost to form on the surface of liquids that are close enough to Saera herself.

I. Shikai

» Shikai Release Phrase: Unwind from your celestial throne Tsuki no Ryū!

» Shikai Release Action: Saera holds Tsuki no Ryū horizontally in front of herself and grips it with both hands before a burst of freezing fog erupts from between her hands, concealing her as it swirls around her body before condensing to cover her body.

» Shikai Appearance: Once the fog has condensed over her form Saera is revealed, every inch of her visible skin has a thin layer glittering white scales made of compacted ice as the Tsuki no Ryū has transformed into a large guandao with a constant stream of cold fog wafting off of the blade and a shaft wrapped in reptilian leather.

» Shikai Abilities:

Sphere of influence: Tsuki no Ryū's power has a very set range, it's power effecting the world in sphere with Saera at the center. The radius of the sphere by zanjutsu rank is as follows:

Untrained: N/A
Beginner: 7 meters
Adept: 15 meters
Advanced: 24 meters
Elite: 34 meters
Master: 45 meters
Grandmaster: 56 meters

World of ice: The cold mist streaming from Tsuki no Ryū's blade isn't just for show. The ice is created from the spiritual power of Saera herself, and is therefore linked to her, suffusing the area and allowing Saera to know where anyone within her sphere of influence is. Her ability to understand that information is unchanged however, so if someone moves too fast for her to track via her normal senses, then the same would apply here.

Inevitable Frost: As long as you are within Saera's sphere of influence, you are in range of Saera's attacks. Tsuki no Ryū allows Saera to create spears and jagged waves of ice that stretch, or launch, towards her opponents. The ice formed by Tsuki no Ryū, being spirtitually sourced from Saera and her zanpakutou, is supernaturally durable, sharing the same sturdiness and durability as Saera herself.

Rending Strikes: The extreme cold of Tsuki no Ryū's form causes any piercing or slashing wound created by it's actual blade to be frozen, drastically reducing the effects of healing powers unless time is taken to warm the wound first, or if someone with enough skill or raw power with the healing arts simply slams their way through the cold to force the wound to close.

Scales of the Celestial Sovreign: The scales that form on Saera's body serve as armor, protecting her from heavy blows and allowing her to keep fighting on despite her injuries. Not only lessening the force of the blows she recieves, but also numbing the pain from her wounds, allowing her to keep fighting. This ability effectively raises Saera's Durability by 1 rank.

I. Role Play Sample

» Roleplay Sample:

"Strike!"

The distinct clacking sound of bamboo striking bamboo echoed the cries of the five of the students currently in the Dojo swung their Shinai overhead towards their partners, all of whom had raised their Shinai in a swift blocking motion.

"Parry!"

Saera swept her gaze over the group of ten as she gave her command, the five who had blocked the first practice strike pushing the held shinai of their mock-opponents up and out, creating an opening to for the next motion.

"Group A Strike, group B dodge!"

Saera's father had put her in charge of the Dojo today, it being his week to get supplies from the town, and she was going to be sure that she ran these students through their paces just like Kenshiro would have. As she continued to give commands, watching the students follow through and prepare for the next motion, something began to stand out. As she called out the next several movements she kept her eyes on one student in particular, and before long she figured out what was bothering her. This student, one of the newer ones who's name she thought was Hideko, was pushing far too hard against his partner, and by the glint in his eye told her he was doing so on purpose. When she saw his partner, Tonari, wince as his wrist twisted a bit too hard after a particularly difficult block she decided to step in.

"Stop! Resting positions!"

All of the students immediately stepped back and allowed their arms to drop to their sides, holding their shinai against their arms so as to keep them off the ground. Saera quickly walked up to Hideko's partner and took his Shinai from him.

"Tonari, go take a rest at the edge of the mat. Hideko, I'll be your partner for the moment, now everyone, ready positions!."

"Strike!"

She and the rest of the students on her side of the line all brought their shinai down to be blocked by their partners in the standard movement, though she did catch a wicked gleam in Hideko's eye, likely thinking he could get away with attemtping to bully 'the girl' like he had Tonari. An delusion she quicky shattered.

"Parry!"

This time as the rest of the group went through the circular parry motion Saera resisted the attempt at parrying from Tonari, easily resisting what strength he could put into the motion, for just long enough for him to start putting too much into the push, before suddenly releasing her resistance and sweeping her shinai down and sweeping Tonari's legs out from under him as he overbalanced. Tonari unceremonisouly fell flat on his face, and before he could try and get up Saera dropped her knee into the small of his back and pressed her shinai into the side of his neck, causing him to freeze up.

Loudly enough to be heard by everyone in the Dojo Saera spoke, "We are not here to learn how to hurt other people, we are here to learn how to protect ourselves and others. This is the one warning you will get," She glanced up at the rest of the students, "that any of you will get. If I or my father ever catch you deliberately trying to cause suffering to your fellow students or anyone else for no reason you will be immediately thrown out, am I clear?"

After getting an affirmative response from the entire class, including a muffled one from Tonari, she got off Tonari's back and helped him up before instructing everyone to take their positions again.

"Start again, Strike!"

Suggestions:

Shikai

Not so much a fix as a suggestion. I'd reccoment specifying how durable the ice is in inevitable frost. Since if it's just regular ice it's going to have a hard time damaging individuals with durabilities above adept.

Edit: Individual decided to keep app as is, given there was nothing wrong with it, and it was just a suggestion, It has been approved.
