I. Personality Traits» Personality:
William might once have been a cheery fellow, quick to crack a smile or laugh no matter the situation. Those that knew him before the incident could attest to that certainly being far closer to the past than his current self. Instead, he is a serious individual with a dour outlook on life. Not quite to the extent of full-blown nihilism, but William is still a little outside what one might consider good company. His humour is dry and, though he can be sanguine from time to time, he is not an easy man to get along with for the uninitiated.
If he was passionate about one thing, it would be organisation. Disciplined to the point of being obsessive, William is meticulous in planning out his life as accurately as possible. He keeps a very up-to-date calendar, filled with precise dates and careful scheduling. Valuing every moment of his time against what else he could be doing, he is naturally very pragmatic in his outlook on events and dislikes acting impulsively.
Work is where he can escape the discourse of normal life, where everything is carefully scheduled and there is a mutual understanding of the concept of time is money between him and his business partners. But he is not above putting in the extra effort should the situation call for it, and will go into overtime to ensure that a job is completed if the pay is worth it.
I. Character History» History
William's earliest years are a mystery, even to him. He never knew his parents, but for a fleeting memory of being held in a woman's arms as a babe and a pendant engraved with the initials 'W. A. R.' that has always been in his possession. He was left at an orphanage, the Lazarus Institute for Children, in the town of Uxbridge on the outskirts of London with no contact details nor even a name to call his own - just that pendant. Whatever had happened before then had impacted the child to some extent though, as his soul was attainted with trace amounts of Hollow energy that marked him as a Fullbring even if he did not know it yet.
Life at the orphanage was a struggle, as it was for most any other child that had been abandoned to an institute before even knowing what was going on. He did not even know his full name, only referred to as William by the staff, and several of the children belittled him for such a fact. A peculiar choice, given that they were all orphans, but they were young and lacked perhaps the foresight to grasp the irony of such a thing. In his haste to silence his bullies, William decided upon a family name based solely upon the thing he loved most in his infantile years - Curry. For a while, that only made things worse but eventually, the name stuck and people became accustomed to it.
Outside of troubles with his identity, William excelled in matters both physical and educational. He was a remarkably bright child, quick with his numbers and on his feet. So much so that he shined above his peers by a considerable margin and caught the attention of interested parties from organisations of particularly peculiar interest. The kind that took notice of his abilities and latent spiritual power, and soon enough he was shipped off to a different place altogether and the time at the Lazarus Institute became little but a distant memory.
A decade spent living his life under a strict military regime turned the boy into an agent of the organisation. William Curry was a perfectly conditioned spy, intellectual and dangerous. He had gone in an orphan with nothing and left a grown man with a life mapped out for him. A career in espionage, military or political, was already in the offing and he enjoyed the structure that this brought to a previously aimless life. A passion for business saw him investing in stocks and shares, becoming well known amongst his associates for being financially capable and managing his money well. This continued after he was outsourced to Lux Orior.
Outsourced was certainly one way to describe it anyway, he was hired by their Special Operations Sector and there were questions asked that were answered with half-truths. What mattered most was that he was damn good at his job, and happy to do most anything as long as it served a purpose and the pay was good enough. Under the callsign 'President', William was one of the highest-ranking operatives in the Sector. Famed for his efficiency above all else, though he did continue to strive to better himself. This extended as far as keeping up with his training until the call went around that R&D was looking for volunteers for experimental enhancement procedures.
The process of installing cybernetics was only recently returning to a world that had fallen into the dark ages and come back again. Several of the other volunteers did not survive the installation process, others ran into issues with energy output that left them crippled and useless, only Curry remained a functional operative by the time the program was complete. Still, the Nine-to-Five system had been deployed successfully and it gave William the push he needed to also begin exploring the nature of his Fullbring powers. Perhaps that was why he was able to do what all the others had failed, by manipulating Fullbring he was able to push those physical augmentations to achieve feats that made him almost inhuman compared to his more mundane peers.
William had been with Special Operations for most of his twenties before he met his future wife. That was the moment his life changed, and though he would say at the time it was for the better things did not quite work out as planned. She was his ticket out of the life that had previously consumed him and so he did just that. He got out. Traded out that life of action and adventure for a desk job at a trading company in Paris, as by then it had become rather untenable to live in the United Kingdom if you were not of demonic descent.
For a while, they lived a happy, innocent, life away from the troubles that he had once dealt with on a daily basis. They got married and had a child on the way before, eventually, the past caught up to them. Travelling to the hospital for a routine checkup, they were involved in a traffic incident that left his wife dead and William in critical condition. That is what the official reports would say, but he would never forget the sound of the gunshots as a pair of bullets were put into his wife's head. What had exactly happened and why William has yet to learn. He might have survived the encounter but a large portion of him died that day too and, in his own words, he buried the last good parts of him with his wife.
He considered returning to the Special Operations Sector, pulling some strings to see what could be learnt, but that was not what she would have wanted. Instead, Curry struck out on his own and made his own company. The Whiterose Foundation was born from the aftermath of his tragedy, it combined the only two things that he had ever been good at - guns and finances - into a business and just in time too. With the coming of World War Four, the war economy was in full swing and so business was quickly booming.
By the time the fighting was over, if one could ever consider it to be truly over, William was a rich man with a healthy business and an unhealthy addiction to his work. He expanded the Whiterose Foundation out across Europe, never a major player just a sponsor or a silent backer. His ear is still on the ground, looking for a clue about what happened that fateful day, but he's still out here to turn a profit too. If he cannot be happy, at least he can make some money whilst making the world a worse place.
I. Equipment» Equipment:
As a full-time security consultant, William is never without arms and armaments. He favours pistols, often carrying a pair on his person, but has been known to use longarms and owns several different heavy weapons that range from submachine guns to sniper rifles.
It should also be noted that, as the head of a company that specialises in dealing with military assets, he is able to source and acquire most non-specialist military tech from across the world given an appropriate amount of time to source and transport such items.
I. Natural Abilities & Skills» Skills: Lux Orior Special Agent:
Having trained as an espionage operative since childhood, William has spent decades of his life in a profession that puts humans under incredible physical and mental stress whilst thriving. His physical condition, whilst a little past his prime, is at the utmost peak of the human form and even enhanced beyond that by the augmentations and upgrades that he has undergone. William has been conditioned to resist the trials of the battlefield; with enhanced pain endurance and resilience to the torture of both the mind and body.Unparalleled Focus:
Given that his abilities revolve around careful management of resources and precise activation when required, William has always been able to keep a firm handle of himself regardless of the situation around him. Even a moment spent exerting too much energy might be the difference between life and death, and is therefore a waste of his own time and his opponent's. He maintains this outlook even outside of combat, and his attention to detail in matters of contract negotiation is intimidating in its own right.Financially Astute:
Since his departure from Lux Orior, Curry has worked hard to establish himself as an upstanding businessman. He has always possessed a keen intellect and applying it to matters of finance and consultation made him and the Whiterose Foundation into a significant factor in the security industry across Europe. Frugal to the point that it is a lifestyle, he can always be depended upon to keep his finances at the forefront of his mind.
I. Other Supernatural Abilities» Powers: Nine-to-Five:
During his time in the Special Operations Sector, William volunteered to undergo experimental cybernetic enhancements from Lux Orior's R&D team. Parts of his body were drastically altered during this process, as he gained full-body augmentations that allowed him to perform at a level far higher than any natural human. Whilst Nine-to-Five is active, William's physical attributes and general abilities are generally enhanced and he is able to perform feats beyond normal comprehension for even one of his power level.
The installation was not a total success though, and the cybernetics were left with a significant flaw. William did not have the energy to maintain power to all the cybernetics all the time from his body alone and had to rely on his Fullbringer abilities for them to function at maximum capacity. Whenever he calibrated them, he would have to specify times when they were active so that he could ensure that his body has enough energy to fuel the augmentations when they were required. He named the augmentations Nine-to-Five because of this requirement to meticulously plan out exactly when he would need his strength in any one day.
When activated, Nine-to-Five increases William's Speed
by one level, up to a maximum of Elite. Should a skill already be Elite then it is given a considerable boost though not considered equivalent to a Master. The duration of this buff is based on his Full Manifestation
skill and can only be activated once per thread.
- Untrained: 1 post duration.
- Beginner: 1 post duration.
- Adept: 2 post duration.
- Advanced: 3 post duration.
- Elite: 4 post duration.
At any point during activation, William can choose to end Nine-to-Five and return his body to a normal state again.
However, as an additional caveat, he can also choose to maintain some of the benefits of Nine-to-Five for longer than the duration listed above by putting himself at greater risk. For every post beyond the maximum duration that Nine-to-Five remains active, William's Durability
is reduced by one level for the remainder of the thread. Should this reduce his Durability
to a level below Untrained then he is rendered unconscious by the end of the post and his Durability
reduced by one level. High-Speed Movement:
As a Fullbringer, William can induce a state of high-speed movement through the use of his Fullbring. Such movements are accompanied by the flickering of a green luminescence referred to as Bringer Light, which is the identifying element of each high-speed movement use. This speed is achieved through a variety of different uses of Fullbring. By pulling on the soul of the ground beneath his feet, he can increase its elasticity, greatly enhancing their jumping ability as a result. In addition, by Fullbringing the air around him, he can accelerate his movements to keep pace with the movement abilities of other spiritual races.Sage Mode:
A heightened state of sensory hyperfocus that William has honed to push the limit of his mental capabilities, his Sage Mode is for when a task requires such pristine concentration that he cannot afford to miss a single detail. Able to filter through an entire document to highlight a single acute change in a matter of moments, or to deduce the slightest of changes in an enemy's pattern of attack by the slightest of shifts in their stance. It can be triggered by activating Fullbring to slow down the speed of his perception so that he perceives the world in his immediate vicinity to be moving at a reduced pace compared to reality. This does not mean that his body moves faster in this state, only allowing him time to more accurately process the information available to him.
I. Fullbring» Fullbring Name:
Grindset» Fullbring Appearance:
Grindset takes the form of a suit tie that William wears around his neck whilst at work. It can take on any pattern that he desires, but the most common one is yellow with black spots in a leopard style. He owns other, similar, ties but knows the exact pattern that Grindset takes like the back of his hand and is easily able to pick it out of a crowd. When fully removed, often occurring when entering a period of Overtime, it shifts form to become a gauntlet that can be worn on one hand. He could choose to do this at any time, swapping between both modes at will.
» Fullbring Powers: Overtime:
The unique property of Grindset is that it primarily functions as a seal to control his access to the potent powers of his Fullbring. Without specifically activating his Fullbring by using Overtime, William is not considered to be under the effect of the percentile boost given by Fullbring Affinity
though is still able to operate as a Fullbringer just to a lesser extent than his peers. This a tradeoff that has been made to temporarily grant him a much more considerable boost when he activates.
Overtime is activated by loosening the knot or simply removing Grindset, which symbolises the opening of this seal, William's body is then flooded with a tremendous amount of energy and power that he can only contain for a short period of time. The percentile boost granted to him by Fullbring Affinity
can be considered comparable to a Quincy Letzt Stil of the same skill level, whilst sharing in the duration that this boost has. So, at Advanced Fullbring Affinity
, his boost value is 750% and lasts for two posts.
This can only be done once per thread.Tool of the Trade:
Using Fullbring, William can transform Grindset into a single gauntlet that mimics the pattern of the tie prior to transformation. An enhanced weapon, specifically useful for fighting spiritual foes, any attack made with it can leave an aftershock effect that creates an energy blast centred on the impact point of the attack. These do not have to be attacks upon an opponent, and can also be used on the environment to either create improvised projectiles or even in the air to create an explosive energy shield.
