Fiction, or Non-Fiction? [Vee/Uriel]

VIVYAN "VEE" FAYE
It had been about a week since she was allowed to leave the hospital, instructed to not push herself too much and ease back into her exercise and training. She hated being injured, but she certainly was better off than other members... Oh poor Alastair... Hearing the state he was in made her so worried, but she heard he was recovering well at the very least. She figured maybe he'd like a get well present, and such a present she settled on was getting him a book... But which one would he like?
Well, she wasn't allowed to read any at the book store to figure if he'd like it, as told by a rather grumpy store attendant - only there to look or buy, no sitting around and reading. She guessed it made sense since they'd want people to buy it, but come on, can't even let her read the first hundred pages and get an idea of what the story was about?! She wasn't incredibly savvy with using a search engine, so the next best bet was the library to figure out what book to go and buy.
...But she'd been there about an hour and couldn't find the best book for him! What would he like? What genre would he be interested in? Ugh! It had to be perfect or she'd be letting him down...
Soon, her frustrated state would lead her to be reaching and reaching for a book far too high for her, one that looked interesting enough to at least peek at.
"C-come on, hand..! Just another few inches..!" She spoke as if psyching her arm up would miraculously get it to grow, but to no avail.

Why was Uriel in the library?
Well to find some relaxing reading material. Not everything was worth with the guy! You didn’t get to his position, nor be as intellectually inclined, without some moderate interest in literature. Just because he found the study of Quincy history enjoyable, didn’t make it any less important for his work. So that's why he found himself wandering the halls of the establishment.
Of course the sound of a woman seemed to alert him in the quietness of the room. Figuring the detour wouldn’t be all that time consuming he found a woman trying to reach upwards at a book, a situation not too dissimilar to one he had encountered not that long ago. Moving with surprising grace for his size, his footsteps made very little noise as he arrived to loom over her, a hand coming up to the book she looked like she needed.
“Need a hand?” He’d inquire with a bright smile, the administrator eyes closing as he did so. As he lowered his hand with the book to her level his eyes opened. He seemed to give of a palpable aura of comfort to him. A warmth that seemed out of place in a place like a library.
“Didn’t want to leave a cute girl in need, I’m Uriel by the way.” His head tilted to the side momentarily, an easy smile forming on his features. She was *cute*. In a sorta nerdy type of way. It had been awhile since he played into his whole ‘bachelor’ shtick. “This might be a bit bold, but you seem in a rush. Can I get your number?”
He was notably, holding a rather large book titled: ‘Vandenreich: History Told In The Shadows’.

Vivyan let out a small squeak of surprise when a hand grabbed the book above her with relative ease, her quickly whipping around only to immediately be intimidated into pressing her back against the bookshelf, looking up as her french tongue immediately uttered with an air of confusion under her breath, "Gé-géant..?!"
Though the bunching of her shoulders would cease upon looking at his kind smile and hearing his warm voice, something about the feel of his presence detracting from the intimidation of his height. With a set expression, she'd passively take the book from his offering hand, though her eyes never left him, appearing to still be rather mesmerized by him, only made far more confused by the addition of his introduction and asking for her number. She literally just acknowledged this man existed and he was already hitting her in the face with signals she was not experienced enough to read,
"Uh.. Thanks.. And.. My name's.. Vivyan, and uh.. Yessss?" She stumbled over her words, only brought back to reality when she eyed the book he was carrying.
"Oh! I don't think i've seen that one before.." She'd point to the large book in his grasp, an almost expectant glimmer in her eyes, "...Can I see it?"

“Moving a bit quickly, asking to see it, ain’t we?”
He’d tease lightly with a laugh, playing dumb for a moment before finally hoisting the thick book upwards. His eyes would go to the one he was holding, as if thinking if he should let her. Before he tilted the book towards her indicating she could take it. Yeah she definitely had the nerdy vibe to her, and that was a-ok in his book.
“It’s just a book on the history of Vandenreich. With how prominent and public they’ve become, a lot of new books are being released. Hard to separate truth from fiction.” He’d comment curious to her opinion on it. As she took the book he’d get a better look at her, as if trying to recall if he might’ve seen her before. She didn’t jog anything in his brain.
However, the French word didn’t allude to him. With an almost wolfish grin on his lips, he’d speak in the melodic almost romantic language of his supposed homeland. " Compatriote français? Quelle curiosité. Qu’est-ce que tu fais si loin de chez toi, Ma Chérie?"
He seemed to draw out the 'ma cherie.'

She gave him a slight pout with his comment and demeanor, before finally being presented the book proper, taking it and already opening it to examine it's contents with almost greedy eyes. She heard scarce few things of the Quincy growing up, only familial artifacts hung around their home, or stories told by her father she managed to overhear while she should have slept were her basis of knowledge, in addition to what the Vandenreich had to offer in the way of historical education. Some subjects she recognized, others she didn't as she slipped through the pages curiously, before being interrupted by Uriel's comment,
"I mean, I guess so.. Given the uh, circumstances..." It was like she was wacked by a truck, the man's first impression really left her reeling and only the lure of potential Quincy information and history brought her back down, "Getting... Uhh... Yknow... And stuff," deliberately did she avoid the mentioning of the genocide, a refusal of direct acknowledgement of such a terrible event was drilled into her forever ago, even if she herself wasn't deemed 'Quincy' in her family's eyes. That was a time of weakness they refused to acknowledge.
But yet again, this man proved to be full of surprises, perking immediately with the acknowledgement of his speaking in her mother tongue, much more the emphasis on such a sweet referral to her, "Seigneur! Are you trying to give me a heart attack? So much shock at once..." Her fleeting breath would peter out into a chuckle, "I came here to be a Quincy. For all i'm concerned, this is my home."

“Ah apologies.”
He’d chuckle as he watched her take the book with mild interest. Uriel himself had to appreciate the thirst for knowledge, it was a rare quality to him in this day and age. The towering giant would wait for her to give it back, if she did, before speaking further.
“So you arrived here not long ago? Are you merely just living here or have grand aspirations?” He’d inquire clearly, showing interest in why she remained here. At this point he was just making casual conversation before remembering the number question. With one hand he’d remove the phone from his pocket, which seemed comically small to him as he held it out to her.
“So your number, yes?”

She'd ponder a few pages rather eagerly as she would then look back up at him with a friendly smile, "Ah, it's okay! I'm a bit jumpy anyhow."
After getting her fill, she would simply close the book and offer it back, soon after shaking her head in acknowledgement of his question, "I'm actually training to be a Sternritter... I wanted to be the best one I could be."
Her smile faltered as memories flickered in her mind, of how useless she was against their enemy, the searing pain, the anger, the confusion, and then the blackness of defeat. Even bringing up that aspiration made bile go up her throat, her gaze lowering,
"Oh.. Yeah, number." Her voice sounded much quieter, but still retaining the appearance she had moments before, taking his phone and quickly putting her's down as a contact, handing it back soon after, "There you go... But what about you? What do you do?"

“Sternritter? Nice. I’ve met a number of them, their leader is a bit of a friend. Perhaps we can train sometime.”
Uriel would take his phone back, placing it away as he looked around to make sure they were not being too loud, and disturbing people. When he found silence he would turn back to her with a light shrug as she questioned him about his job. He didn’t actually like speaking on it much, or at least right now he didn’t. It was dark work not fit for the light of day.
“I work for the Todgestalten as an administrator.” He’d remark not going into depth much about it, figuring that it’s reputation would be fairly known. The special black operations of the Vandenreich that rarely saw the light of day, he had to be careful how he went about things. He after all had a mission, and a cover to keep. He’d offer a small nod to Vivian.
“I enjoy what I can provide to this organization. You look like an intelligent, and bright, young lady. I do hope we can speak again soon, and should you find yourself in need of a sparring partner, I can certainly provide some help.”
