Psychological Analysis

○ Proud: As a scion of the Kuchiki family, Dan is proud of his noble heritage and holds many traditional values. It is not his family's status that concerns him, though, as much as it is his own. A vain streak runs not far below the surface of his character and within lies a raging ego waiting to be fed. His vanity is not entirely without justification, and he is certainly capable of living up to such expectations, but his self-confidence could easily become his downfall if left unchecked for too long.

○ Bellicose: The first response that Dan has to a problem is to fight against it. There is seemingly no threat that he would not meet first with his sword, before assessing his options later. He can be provocative, drawing a rival out into a contest that he believes he has the advantage in - utilising his martial prowess to achieve his goals, but saves much of his aggression for the battlefield. His jingoistic tendencies saw him grow heavily involved in the various wars that the Gotei has involved itself with, and have not left him with a fondness for other races in the soul cycle.

○ Deceptively Perceptive: Despite his arrogant nature, Dan has a sharp mind and considers himself a masterful gauge of character. His views are somewhat incendiary, and divisive, even, when expressed with an amount of cunning so he values the ability to read people and understand what makes them tick. He will pick away at others to study their reactions, or sit back and let them reveal their hands unprompted.

○ Doutanshu Kensha Scarf: Dan is often seen wearing a rusty-orange scarf, displaying it regardless of the rest of his attire. It is unique in that it was woven by the master weaver Tsujishirō Kuroemon V, a descendant of a storied line of weavers going back centuries. The scarf is made from Doutanshu Kensha (銅丹朱絹紗, "Copper-Vermillion Silk Gauze") and is a minor heirloom of the Kuchiki family. It was crafted sometime after the infamous white scarf worn by the Kuchiki family head and is considerably less valuable despite the rare materials woven into it. Regardless, the scarf is Dan's most prized possession and is worth a considerable sum of money despite its unassuming appearance.

POWERS AND ABILITIES

○ Peerless Swordsman: Ever since he first picked up a wooden sword, Dan has never felt more comfortable than with a blade at his hip. In his youth, prior to joining the Academy, he had already become a talented kendo fighter under the tutelage of several masters of the craft - a benefit afforded to him by his family’s wealth and status. There were few that could match him in his own age group, so he sparred against professional fighters and even then proved a challenge for them. His deft blade work combined with his blistering speed to make him an incredibly potent duelist.

In preparation for becoming a Shinigami, Dan’s martial training moved beyond wooden weaponry into true kenjutsu. He was taught several different schools of swordsmanship, each one with different styles and weaknesses. After several years of study, Dan came to create his own by merging several of these traditional schools together into what he arrogantly called the “Dan” school though more commonly came to be known as Dantou-ryuu (弾刀流, “Bullet Sword School”). Originally focused on using a single blade, Dan adapted his style to also be a two-sword school when he imprinted on an Asauchi and the weapon manifested as a daisho sword pair. Most unlike the nature of its founder, it is a subdued and precise art that avoids flashy moves and elegant flourishes in favour of delivering deadly strikes in the blink of an eye.

○ Zanpakuto Spirit Summary: The spirit of XXX manifests as a pale woman with porcelain-white skin and flowing blonde hair. With a piercing stare of blue eyes, she often claims that she can peer straight into Dan's heart to judge her wielder's intentions at any moment. A cloud of ash seems to shadow her every movement, clinging to her form at times but somehow never staining her white apparel.

○ Inner World: A vast, dusty plain. XXX's Inner World is littered with debris and ruins that are in the process of being turned into fuel for the numerous clouds of dust and ash that swirl through the landscape, which offers little protection.

○ Zanpakuto Appearance: In its sealed state, XXX takes the form of a daisho sword pair, consisting of a tachi and a wakizashi. Both swords have bronze oval-shaped crossguards lacking in any particular decoration or distinction, and their handles are black with white diamonds. In battle, Dan will carry a blade on both sides of his hips, though outside of that both are sheathed on his left-hand side.
