"I don't think that he is trying to remake the gotei per se. I think he is trying to put something in place so that the balance doesn't absolutely collapse. Regardless of how the gotei is it would be dangerous to allow things to go without anything ya know?"

She spoke truthfully to the other woman as she tried to figure out something. She wasn't sure what absolutely was going to happen going further. She wasn't sure what she should do actually. She felt like she wasn't doing something right. She should do more.

"I.....truthfully have no idea what to do."

Momo blinked as she listened to her old friend speak. Rangiku had seemed to be confident in her decision one moment and then not the next. It certainly caused the petite woman to pause and ponder for a bit. For a second, she’d thought that the blonde was trying to woo her for a second into maybe joining as well but that didn’t seem to be the case now. It wasn’t something that Momo probably could agree to anyway. Honestly, the dark haired woman wasn’t sure what she wanted either.

“Maybe it’s a case of what do you want to do?” Momo would finally reply, doing her best to help her dear friend through her sudden bout of doubt. “Do you truly want to dive back into an organisation and find yourself dealing with all of the drama again? It wouldn’t hurt to maybe sit back and think things through a little more first. You’ve earned a little rest, Rangiku.”

She asked her friend genuinely as she didn't feel that she has earned a break. She felt that she needed to keep going and that she needed to be a strong figure for other shinigami to aspire to pass. Rangiku had never had enough ego to ever get offended if someone ended up passing her. He'll it had happened a couple of times at this point.

"I feel like I need to be there for shinigami who may have lost their way."

“Yes I do and I’ve seen too many people wandering around here already who look like they’re about to drop from exhaustion.” The dark haired woman answered with a sigh. “I understand that you want to help those in need but if you don’t take care of yourself then you’re not going to be helping anyone else. All of this reminds me so much of…back then and I can’t help but feel that we’re all going to end up having a tough time.”

Taking a sip of her tea to calm herself a little, she’d continue. “I still get people coming here in need of healing and while I’m more than happy to do so, I can’t help but notice the same fear that there was in the past. There is such confusion and worry, now that the Gotei is gone and I’ve no idea what’s going to happen.”

It was a harsh reality but the gotei had proven that they won't be able to protect the residents of the rukongai at all times. Rangiku especially hated to admit that, but there were people capable of protecting here. Some that may step up, but there was likely going to be attempts at filling the pworr vacuum. Hell there had already been Kommomura and Rangiku had no doubts that the nobles would be up to something.

"I'm glad you're the same as ever, Momo. Maybe i should just stay here and help you and Toki out."

“I certainly hope you’re right. It would be nice for those who live and work here to be able to stand on their two feet. To see those around us thrive without having to be looked after by a group like the Gotei would be fantastic. I’ve got no idea whether such a thing is possible but perhaps with time, it can be a reality, at least for districts such as this.” Momo answered hopefully. “Whether it’s possible for the rougher area of the Rukongai is anyone’s guess.”

She’d smile as Rangiku spoke about maybe staying with her and Toki, a chuckle escaping her. “You’re always welcome here and if you ever wish to stay for a while then we have plenty of room. I know that Toki is incredibly busy helping out what’s left of the 2nd right now and if you find yourself needing something to do then I’m sure they’d appreciate your aid.”

Rangiku considered what she wanted to do. She wondered if she should just stay with Momo for the time being? Maybe she could just stay until she got her bearings. She wanted to figure something out, but she was trying to figure out what's going to happen for her going forward. A mid life crisis at her age? She's still too young for those.

"I guess I'll just crash here and help Toki and you out as you need it. Obviously I'll go out and kill a few hollows here and there. Though I'm sure there's going to be some changes, so maybe i won't be needed anymore. Maybe I'm just the old guard who should go away."

Glad that Rangiku had chosen to take up on her offer, Momo would’ve answered with something more cheerful but what her close friend mentioned at the end gave her pause for thought. That wasn’t the confident and light hearted woman that she knew and the petite woman as she thought about what best to say. It was so difficult to know what was best as it was, with the entire Soul Society and Rukongai in a complete mess.

“There’s never going to be a time where you’re not needed and if you truly do want to continue working with one of the Shinigami organisations then they’ll be lucky to have you.” Momo eventually said. “Now more than ever, more experienced Shinigami are going to be needed and even if you decide not to join a group, there are plenty of innocent souls who they won’t be able to help. We’re all looking for our place in the new order, Toki and I included.”

Leaning over the small table in between them, she’d hug her friend. “You’ll always be needed here, no matter what. You’ve helped us so much during the darker times.”

Rangiku sat melancholic as she listened to the woman. She knew that things weren't going to be the same regardless of what groups step up to fill the vacuum of the gotei United. She knew that it would be a minute before everything was sorted out. She sat and accepted the hug from Momo as that cheered her up quite a bit. Regardless of how much time passes their friendship is something that keeps Rangiku going. She wondered how much of her she could even give to an organization right now. Making her decision she sighed.

"I'm going to help you and Toki out with the rukongai here. These people are going to need more help than any organization that will fill the vaccuum."

“I’m sure you’ll find plenty to do here as there are a few of the locals who are already trying to take advantage of the situation. Normally, it’s pretty peaceful but a few of the rowdier ones are definitely up to something. I don’t know what they’re up to but it might be something to look into if you’re interested.” Momo replied, trying to give Rangiku something to keep her occupied as she adapted to things. “As I said though, stay as long as you like, my home is your home, Rangiku.”

Taking a sip of her tea, she’d nod her head towards Rangiku’s undrunk booze, a smile crossing her features again. “Now, how about we try and take our minds off of such miserable topics for a while, hmm? I think we’ve had enough misery for one day.”
