Still With You [Liltotto/Giselle]
Mon Nov 11, 2024 1:29 pm
Liltotto Lamperd
The room was dark, this time because she wanted it to be, as opposed to her falling into herself. Wrapped in her blanket, she went through another plate. She was gradually getting used to her body again, disturbing dreams and off moments in mobility and memory noted, but overall she was healthy. Too many lights still gave her headaches even after a few days of rest.
Couldn’t sleep yet, her guardian was coming to visit her, she remembered someone saying that earlier at least... Eyes dragged up to the clock on the wall for guidance of the time; it was clearly bordering afternoon.. What time did that nurse say again? Couldn’t remember.. That was fine, Giselle would end up at that door at some point, that she held onto.
All she could do in the meanwhile was listen to calm music drone on in the background.

Giselle had been sitting in a waiting room for far longer than she cared for. Tapping her foot away at the ticking of the clock, until at long last one of the nurses explained that she could visit her little girl. Naturally, she'd been informed by Alastair that she'd be observed. She didn't give two shits. As soon as she was given the go ahead she strode after the nurse, trying to restrain her impatience and anxiety. And when at long last she stood at the door, she had her hands clenched into fists as the Nurse knocked on the door and let Liltotto know her visitor was here.
Stepping into the room, Giselle paused as she looked in through the door way and the door was closed behind her, her eyes sweeping the room before finally settling on her daughter.
"Lil, jesus, what the hell happened?" She promptly closed the distance across the room and promptly pulled them into a hug, heedless of any danger as she clung to the woman briefly and gave them a firm squeeze, worry written across her face as she pulled back. "Are you alright? How much have ya had to eat, hon?" She promptly began to fuss, glancing at the plate nearby and then looking around for any more.

She smelled her before she saw her, a presence she couldn't ever forget as she sighed and had her arms outstretched to easily welcome the other woman, hugging her back with little resistance, if anything she put far more into the hug than she was normally willing to, every beat of a reminder that this was real, that this wasn't a dream, was welcome.
"Plenty. I'm still sleepy, but I guess i've been pretty low energy since I was brought back." A calm response would be given, her tiring evidenced on her face - it wasnt that she wasn't getting enough sleep, but rather the persistent discomfort and irregularity she felt was keeping her from sufficiently relaxing.
"Well, I got taken someplace else. And held there. And... Well I don't really remember what led to me coming back. Still a blur. I'm.. Doing the best I can."

Giselle's eyes widened and that anger boiled up in her, and she had to catch herself before a furious grin played across her features. The very idea of someone keeping her daughter captive was enough to make her tendons creake from the grip of her fists.
"I heard you got hurt on a mission and someone ... just....scooped ya?" She furrowed her brows. She thought about what she'd remembered. She'd been gone for ... a few weeks on that mission. And this was clearly something different. Liltotto had been through a lot. A LOT. But this wasn't usual for her. This.... way she was wearing herself.
A sigh escaped her and she pulled Liltotto back into a hug. "Don't worry about that now. Focus on getting yourself back together. Ya been alive a helluva long time girly. It'll come back to you. You've always been sharp sweetie." She sighed and looked around. "Please at LEASt tell me they're giving you leave until you're recovering." She asked with furrowed brows. And though she said 'they' she also meant 'yourself'. She was all too aware how ...diligent and fixated Liltotto was on work sometimes. A good quality, but she was a bit concerned about her jumping back into things too quickly.

Yeah, even if she was trying to hide it she could smell the anger coming off Giselle; she still saw her as her little girl after all, even if she'd had more time without her than with. It was something she found oddly sweet, but never really knew how to process - maybe she'd understand if she ever became a mother.
"Something like that," Her drifting tone would respond, drooping eyes wavering on the thought. She'd pressed and pinched at her own thoughts to grasp it properly, but most things felt like a haze she couldn't grab; she had an idea of where she was and what happened to her, but it was all still in fragments that stubbornly refused their slothful idling to link together.
..Yeah, she had been alive a long time, it wasn't like she hadn't been subjected to horrible circumstances prior... It's just that she felt... Uniquely horrible this time. Terrible in a way she'd never experienced, terrible in a manner completely alien to her mind and body. The persistent, lingering thought of something bad having happened to her was the biggest nag on her consciousness.
"..Giselle, I quit being a Sternritter," She'd calmly reply as she was drawn back into the hug, just leaning into it with quiet acceptance, "They're going to figure out a non-combative role for me to fill, but for now I am on leave to recover... I'm not stupid; i'm resting."
Frankly, it was hard to get much rest with the things that kept barging into her thoughts at times, or the things that slipped away, "Well. i'm trying to rest. It's kind of hard when I keep getting migraines and shitty dreams."

Giselle blinked a few times. Surprised at that. Especially after.... well.. the whole..situation Liltotto had gone through, about protecting people. And that put it squarely in perspective and ... shocked her the most. Liltotto had been dead set on protecting people. That she was just...fine taking this backseat role. It .... was unnerving. But she didn't allow that to show, she smiled and gave a chuckle. "Takin after your ol Ma eh? Well don't go copying me too far. Still, glad youre gonna find somewhere suitable till then. Tchahahaha, goodness knows I've been off the wagon too long. Still though, I've been getting a lot of trainin done in my travels, you'd be amazed how many hollows you find. Plus killin em makes it way easier to find people who will let ya crash for a bit." She noted with a grin and a wink.
Certainly it had been... an interesting few weeks since .. well a lot of things happened. "We never DID get to training you properly. A few sessions before things got busy for you. Hmmm. But if you're taking a bit of rest. We'll probably need to find some way to help you stay in shape, without ...you know...stresin ya out." She kept herself focused on Liltotto. Even though she ... sensed that something was off. MULTIPLE things were off. The way that Liltotto was behaving. Her taking a step back. And not remembering things....
Liltotto always remembered. Either someONE had fucked her up bad enough tomake even her not remember. Or something happened she didn't WANT to remember. Either way... when she got her hands on whatever was responsible for it.
She'd make sure the lesson stuck no matter how many times they reincarnated.

Liltotto Lamperd
“I don’t want to fight anymore, Giselle.”
She’d calmly correct, the drone of music still on in the background within the dark room as she wrapped herself tighter in the blankets, “I’ve realized I never… Really wanted to in the first place. All I was ever doing was just going with the motions, what I was familiar with...”
It wasn’t that her spirit was broken by her experience, it was simply that she realized that this wasn’t what she wanted to do with her life. This wasn’t what made her happy; it was just the rounds she had from childhood that ultimately ended in hellfire.
“I can’t really get fat, or weaker in the same way humans do, it’s not like I have to train or anything… Not that I really want to.”

Giselle paused for a few moments and ... listened as Liltotto confided in her. She was entirely silent as she watched them. And .. she considered just what it was Liltotto was telling her. This.... she wasn't sure what to think of it. And after several seconds... she scooted a bit closer, and gently put her arm around Liltotto. Gently pulling the girl in, so that they could rest their head against her chest.
"You have plenty of time to think about what it is you want to do. A lot more time than anyone around you." She noted softly, gently rubbing her opposite shoulder as she hugged her daughter close. "Whatever it is you decide you want to do, I'll do my best to help you, sweetie." She noted softly, that anger quelling slightly as he held her close. She didn't know if .. this would remain as it were. But it was possible, for all she knew maybe... Liltotto really would decide that fighting wasn't what she wanted. She herself had... considered that. And maybe if ... certain....surprises hadn't happened. Maybe she would have found something. But things had changed, and so ...for better or worse... she'd fallen back into her old ways. At least in a positive way.
"Sorry I haven't been visiting you as often."

Liltotto Lamperd
There was little hesitance in leaning into the embrace, if anything she seemed oddly cuddlier than prior; that sensation to keep away, that instinctive repulsion to touch built up over hundreds of years, was oddly absent in her mind. She even went as far as to stretch an arm around Giselle as to communicate she wanted to maintain the embrace. Not that she was really thinking about it all that strongly.
"Sorry I haven't been calling," She'd echo the sentiment back, "For the longest time I... Wanted to avoid talking to you. Not because of you, but.. You've been dead longer than alive to me Giselle, it felt weird just... Picking up like none of that ever happened."
Even in the darkness her eyes were visibly sadder, rounder, "I just couldn't help... I can never help but remember finding you... In unrecognizable strains of scent... It's just, a lot... It's not that I don't want to connect with you, if anything i've gotten over it... But for the longest time it..."
Her voice shuddered and broke, biting her bottom lip in a shamed silence.

Giselle felt....conflicted. On one hand, feeling Liltotto hug her back, wanting to maintain ghe hug was nice. But on the other hand, it was... ASTOUNDINGLY alien to see from the woman, and she almost went rigid in surprise when Liltotto held her close. "That's fine hon, I know you get busy." She noted softly in response to the apology, and ....and then that.
She was quiet for several seconds as Liltotto finally explained what she had more or less...worked out. "Lil......" She closed her eyes and gently rubbed her daughter's back. "You don't need to apologize for that sweetie." She noted softly, closing her eyes and sighing as she offered a soft smile. "I haven't exactly been the best role model. Let alone mother..." Her voice trailed off. And she thought about ... just about everything Liltotto had witnessed her do. And she felt a small weight in her chest as she teared up, ever so slightly. "I....never once balmed you. For not wanting to talk to me. I tried, really I .... tried so hard Liltotto. But that doesn't mean I did the best I could have. And I was.... so... SO far from the best that I could have done." Her voice wavered as she held Liltotto close.
She had, ultimately, been a terrible mother. She'd done her best, but she had so very much given Liltotto every reason to not ... want to seek out talking to her. Even now, she just didn't know how to be the mom that Liltotto needed her to be. "You don't need to apologize sweetie. Not for that." She assured her little girl, closing her eyes as she gently rested her chin atop Liltotto's head.
