Fractured Bygones [Ehefra, Helle]
Sat Nov 16, 2024 7:13 am
Everything became a blur, as usual. Just when things were supposed to finally rest, everything went to shit yet again. Liltotto finally returned. The Gotei was gone. Travel between the world of the dead and living was busted. Somehow topping the events of the past two years.
She at the very least knew not to dawdle. With how Helle’s schedule could be, she took no chances as she walked up to the woman’s home.
For once, Ehefra didn’t have quite the same tired eyes she had before. After knocking at the door, she waited patiently as she sensed Helle inside. She half expected the woman to come to the door with paperwork under her arm. But all the same she waited for the door to open.

Helle did not open the door. Instead, what did open the door was a perfect replica of Natasha. Though, she did not seem entirely correct. Her face, too porcelain, her body, a bit too blue, her aura, entirely too Helle. In fact, there's a lot of Helle everywhere. It's not as strong as inside Helle's home, but the Quincy woman is a rather invasive specimen. Ever since Gotei had fallen, she's been experimenting a bit, using her Spirit Weapon to a certain extent. Its activity isn't noticeable, except to the most sensitive, but the current use of her Vollstandig isn't something to simply scoff at.
Its application is a bit silly. Ehefra would be let inside, and she'd see more people she may recognize Johann, Liltotto, and herself. They're all busy doing paperwork, while the woman of the hour is on her couch, laying there motionless with a book over her face and her legs splayed out. She looks as if she could fall over any second and break her face on the floor, if even possible, with her bosom being as it is.
Anyway, it looks as if she's sleeping, but with the rampant amount of Reishi and Reiryoku being thrown around, that couldn't be the case.

To say she was alarmed was… putting it lightly. Her entire frame somewhat rigid as she … stared at Natasha’s semblance and walked inside. Was that.. Liltotto… the old guy… WAS THAT HER!? Ehefra’s jaw clenched slightly and she felt.. conflicting emotions as she walked deeper into the house and then spotted Helle sprawled out across her couch. Her eyes shifted to the spread legs. Then to the fact she was practically on the floor.
She twitched and made her way over before closing her eyes and sighing. Refraining from kicking the couch to launch the thicc woman onto the floor. Cnon heff. This was….. better than what she was doing before. Though certainly she wondered how the heck these things were even operating.
Reaching down she… paused, and then changed targets, plucking the book from Helle’s face and furrowing her brow. Half expecting to see the woman entirely asleep. She didnt even know with this woman anymore. The sight of it all made her hands clench into fists. She’d come here to say goodbye. But … all of this…. Fucking shit. She wondered if the woman would ever even miss her.
”Director.I wanted to speak with you. Hope you don’t mind?” She asked, cautiously eyeing the nearby dolls. Cery much unnerved by them._

Helle isn't asleep. She's not that powerful that her mind would subconsciously do something like this, but she is in a meditative state. It only took Ehefra calling her name for Helle to open her eyes and stare directly up at the other Quincy. She stared, almost emotionless, her eyes too vibrant. For a second, there lacked any real recognition in her gaze until she blinked a few times.
"You're not one of my creations," She muttered as her eyes dimmed some. "You haven't left the city yet, I see."

Ehefra felt a weird eerieness when she saw that over…. Bright look in the woman’s eyes. Though once they spoke up she relaxed just a little and nodded. Flicking herself in the shoulder. lYyyyep. Just regular old non-force-ghost Ehefra.” She noted softly. She paused only briefly as Helle seemed aware she was leaving. She glanced down to her pocket where her phone was, but refused to let her insecurities distract her.
”No. not yet. I uh.. I leave tomorrow. And I’m not gonna be back.” she noted softly. There was an urge to… ask about all this. To try and make small talk. But well Helle always made that stuff difficult. May as well just be direct.
”I’m not just… leaving the city. I plan on leaving the world of the living. Not like… suicide or anything like that. I… I need to go to Karakura. Handle something family related. But once that’s taken care of, I plan on trying to get to soul society. And with everything going on….. I just… wanted to see you before I left.” She noted quietly. Unsure of what she’d see on Helle’s face. Or if .. she would even really register this at all. Would she be surprised? Upset? Happy? Mad? Or would she even care?

"Oh," Helle responded, sitting up. "That is dangerous."
Her voice did not carry concern, but she does not need concern to simply throw factual statements at the other woman. She looked down, placing her hands on her lap, staring. Her eyes dimmed further as the house started to lose a bit of color.
"I have been busy lately, so I have not had the time to access everything. I heard that you resigned, but I'm sure you understand that a lot has taken precedence."
She slid her hand over and patted the spot next to her if Ehefra wished to sit. When her eyes returned up to the other, they seemed to have some form of curiosity painting them. It may not be what Ehefra wanted to see, but Helle at least spared that she would listen if the other will speak.
"I have a few minutes to spare if you have time. Do you want to explain why you are heading to Soul Society?"

Ehefra watched closely as Helle seemed to… react? She lost a bit of her vigor but honestly Ehefra wasnt sure if she was disappointed or was just powering down from her … uh work.
All the same, when Helle directed her, she sat beside the woman without a second thought, and sitting beside the director it felt a but less… intense. No longer having to face her. Even more than that when Helle spoke it wasnt a command. But rather a gentle query. And Ehefra nodded her head.
”Its dangerous… yea.” She paused for a moment and thinned her lips. She hesitated as she considered what to actually say. But… well. Its not like it probably mattered too much now. She’d held it all inside for ling enough.
”The reason that.. I’m going to japan. Is to say goodbye to my Mom.” She confessed very quietly. Vlosing her eyes and sighing softly as she let that go. She had only told Natasha, she suapected her dad may have also spoken of it, but it still was something she was overly aware of. Juat who knew about… this stuff.
”I don’t even really remember exactly when. I was in the hospital. But she died around the week after Kurosaki attacked the city. I meant to. You know. Do this befor. I just… didn’t. So yea, I’m going to her grave with my dad. And after that. I intend on going out and looking for her. Me and dad.. neither of us was there. She was alone when she died, out in the countryside near karakura. And I-“ She gently clenched her hands. Forcing her eyes to stay dry.
”I know I probably wont find her. But I just don’t wanna risk if she… didn’t pass peacefully. I know its stupid. Theres no reason she shouldnt. But I can’t get it out of my head. That with everything going on. Something happened to her.”

How is Helle supposed to respond? Logically, Ehefra's plan is nothing more than a fool's quest. It is an impossible mission. With the amount of people dead, finding one particular person would be similar to looking for a needle in a haystack, and that's not even accounting for if her mother has yet to move through the soul cycle. Helle would not say it, but if Ehefra's mother had become a Hollow, how would they know? She could look all over and still never know.
"...Then is it fair to announce we will never see each other again?" Helle questioned, not even concerning herself with all the possibilities. "If you succeed or fail, would you not return to the living?"
There are a lot of things Helle could talk about. She could bring up her pact with the long dead or she could try and deter Ehefra from this task. She could talk about them and if there ever was a future. She could wish her luck or this and that, but she thought it important to wonder why the goodbye. Goodbye is a harrowing word. It's different from see you around or be back soon. The last time Helle had ever considered goodbye...
"..."
Goodbyes are a necessity between the living and dead.

Ehefra closed her eyes as Helle asked that question. "I would. I mean... I ... like to think that I would. If I find her, and she's alright, then ..." She didn't really know what would happen. If she found her mom.... alright and well. What ...WOULD happen? She imagined she would come back right? Of course, her mom would insist she come back to the world of the living. But would she listen? And there was also the fact that she might just not find her. Or she might find her, but not... in a good way. What would that look like? What would she do then? "I don't know. Maybe." she noted quietly, Well aware that she could spoke hopefuls about how she'd react to any of these outcomes. But she didn't know. She never knew anymore. Helle certainly had had a hand in showing her that.
"But I didn't come here to say goodbye to you Helle. I came to say that I'm sorry. For... the mess I've caused. For my, goddamn feelings making do and say crazy shit these last few months. I honestly don't even really know why you put up with it." She felt a pang of guilt as she thought back. To their squabbling. To her own tantrum. To Helle's...strange humoring of her. Folowing her to her home. Going out on a date with her of all things. And beneath it all, she really had been stupid enough to think that there could.... be something between them. Yea... a relationship built on pity. She wanted to say something else, something stupid, something she didn't even know if it was true. She'd come here with an idea in her head, about wanting to let Helle know about her feelings. But with Helle's logic buzing around in her head. she couldn't help but feel guilt keeping that stupid shit in her throat. What kinda person would she be if she left Helle with that?
"For what it's worth: I know I was an awful date. An awful lot of things. And I really hope you find someone to give you a decent one someday."

"Hmm? You're weird," Helle stated, a matter-of-fact tone to her voice. "All this why and what ifs, never any will and dos. Even now, you lack conviction."
Helle rose and clapped her hands, the doll of Ehefra suddenly stepping into view.
"Do you know what this is, Ehefra? It is you, but why is it you? That's simple. My powers do not work unless a specific person is in my vicinity. As soon as you leave this city, it will vanish."
Helle rose a brow, staring Ehefra down with a bit of accusatory suspicion.
"You have a knack for thinking the worst, faltering because you're unsure, delving deep into yourself until you're drowning. I know a bit about you, Ehefra, and I know you saw this and thought the worst. You always think the worst, or you always think the hypothetical worsts. Even if the answer to all your problems come from a simple question."
However, as much as Helle is laying out her opinion of Ehefra, she stopped and clapped again, the image of Ehefra slowly dematerializing into vibrant Reishi. Her green eyes stared for a bit longer before narrowing, her gaze moving up towards the wall behind her couch as her lips twisted a bit, annoyance making her seem put off by something. Then her head tilted.
"Who are you to assume what I felt without even asking how I feel? I was waiting for you to leave, wondering myself if I should approach you, a similar folly. For some odd reason, I was thinking it'd be too difficult to simply wish you goodbye. I hate goodbyes."
