SABRIEL VENTRESS

It had been oh so difficult for the Arrancar ever since that blasted invasion and after encountering Stella, Sabriel was in more of a state then ever. She felt that there was an enormous weight on her shoulders, robbing her of any moment of pleasure, a sensation that frightened her more than most. It was as if she was walking through mud and the dark haired woman could not focus upon anything. The normally calm and unflappable woman certainly did not appear so that day and as she entered Arianda’s abode and tried to make herself at home, her gaze would be unfocused, almost melancholic.

They had first met by chance but Sabriel had come to value Arianda dearly since that first encounter, with the two becoming so close over such a short space of time. She could not think of where else she could go besides her palace and for the moment, simply sitting around being waited on by her lust filled minions did not cause her to feel much joy. She needed to be somewhere quieter, where she could try and clear her head, talking to someone who could provide some insight rather than just the same old junk that her Hollows said to her. Oh, they adored her but she could not have a conversation with them.

Heading for the lounge and taking a seat on her friend’s beautiful couch, she would simply sit there, unsure if Arianda was even at home but at the moment, just being in her friend's home helped her heavy soul to relax a touch, even if she still lacked any of her usual enthusiasm. Ah, how much longer was she going to be plagued by this? She knew that she could not change the past and yet it did not bring her any comfort.

ARIANDA VAEL

Arianda hadn't been doing much of late, really. Frankly speaking, she was still trying to get used to the change that had upset her life quite well; she was no longer a demon. While that came with many confusions, one of them being a lack of a "disguise" form, Arianda had adjusted well enough. Frankly speaking, Ari was quite glad to still have her heart. However, the woman's thoughts on such things were interrupted when she felt someone's familiar energy, along with the opening and closing of her front door. Sab had a key, after all. Arianda had given it to the woman shortly after their two weeks together. The woman was overjoyed by Sabriel being here, so much so that it was hard for Arianda to not rush out and greet her immediately. But, no. She had to show some form of delicacy here and there! So, Arianda focused on getting herself into something less... naked. Sure, they often didn't need clothes when they were together, but Arianda still like to wore them where possible.

Once the Arrancar was ready, Arianda had dashed out of her room and hopped down from the second floor and into her sitting room/longue. Once she arrived there, what she found... puzzled her. Sabriel certainly looked like herself, yet also not. That alone was enough to make Arianda pause, questioning her approach. However, the woman simply approached after a few seconds of looking at the woman. Something was definitely wrong, Sabriel had never looked like this. Her enthusiasm had been thrown out the window in exchange for melancholy. Typically, Arianda would already be straddling Sab, kissing the woman with fervor. But right now...?

Right now, Arianda sat down next to Sabriel, carefully wrapping an arm around the woman's midsection as Arianda sat side-saddle, her legs bent underneath her; her knees somewhat resting on Sabriel's legs. Unlike their typical encounters, encounters in which normally started off charged with so much love and lust, this one was slow... careful... loving. Arianda looked at Sab carefully, judging her features before she placed gently rested her forehead against the side of Sabriel's head, her nose touching the woman's cheek. Arianda stayed like that, not speaking for a few moments, as she held Sab within her loving embrace.

"Sab... Love, what's wrong? I've never seen you like this... We can talk about it, if you want."

The moment Arianda emerged and approached her, Sabriel’s shoulders relaxed just a touch. To be in the presence of the woman was enough to at least slightly bring her out of her melancholic trance but there was no smile that formed on the Arrancar’s face, no teasing or soft kiss. Yet, there was a further reaction, with Sabriel leaning her head against the white haired woman, her breathing steadying now that she was in the embrace of someone she truly cared for.

Eventually, she would turn her head towards her fellow Arrancar, her purple eyes filled with sadness and uncertainty rather than their usual want. Well, she did want Arianda but not in the way that she normally did. Now, she wished for the white haired beauty to be there as her rock, someone she could simply be with without the fear of saying something that she would regret. There was a level of trust between the women that Sabriel was unsure she had with anyone else and that was why, beyond any other reason, she found herself coming to Arianda’s door, when she was at her worst.

“I am sorry for coming to you like this.” The Arrancar finally said, genuinely remorseful, that she was about to burden another with her own problems. “I have made a grave error in judgement and I did not know where else I could go. My aspect has come back to haunt me and now I find myself not knowing who to trust. I behaved like a fool and in doing so, I have put myself and those I care for at risk, all because of my blasted need to place the needs of others above my own, even when the person I help wishes for…destruction.”

ARIANDA VAEL

Even if Sabriel’s countenance seemed to brighten slightly at Ari’s appearance, she didn’t tease the woman, kiss, or otherwise greet Ari more than just to lean against her. Perhaps that, of all things, was somewhat scary. What had transpired to cause Sab to be like this? For her to be torn up by a storm of hurt, sorrow, and confusion. Arianda’s hold upon the woman became just a tiny bit tighter as Sabriel apologized to the Arrancar. However, Arianda didn’t interrupt her to tell her not to apologize… She simply let Sabriel speak, her eyes upon the woman the entire time as Arianda gently ran her fingers through the other Arrancar’s hair.

Mistakes, mistakes that haunt Sabriel, mistakes that Sabriel feels will bring risk to others; and perhaps already brings risks to Sabriel’s bonds as it stands. Oh Arianda wished to do so many things as she felt emotions boil under the surface. First, she wanted to curbstomp whomever caused Sabriel to feel this way, but second, and more important; the Arrancar wanted to comfort Sabriel. When Sabriel reached a pause in her speech, a natural one, Arianda gently leaned up and kissed Sab upon the forehead. It wasn’t intimate, nor was it really charged with emotion, but it was full of the demon’s love for the woman. But, most of all, it was gentle and caring.

“Sab… Love Arianda paused momentarily, collecting her thoughts so she didn’t trip over her own tongue. “You don’t have to apologize for this, it’s the least I could do; especially after all that you’ve done for me. I’m here for you, love.”

Arianda held onto Sab with such love, such care, adjusting so Sab could rest her head upon Ari if she so wished. Otherwise, Arianda remained quiet for a bit longer. She didn’t speak for a long while, wanting to give Sabriel some time. However, the woman would soon address what Sab had said; even as Sab likely listened to Ari’s heart beat at a comforting pace.

“Can you tell me what happened, Sab? Take the time you need, I have all the time in the world for you~”

As Arianda shifted position, Sabriel would do the same so that she was leaning fully against her fellow Arrancar. Just being with her was soothing and while the dark haired woman was not even close to feeling right, she was at least able to get through the fog that was clouding her mind. She expected to be asked about the source of her pain but even so, it took some time before she answered, trying to think about the right way to say it. Her explanation had not gone down all that well with Stella, which only caused the Arrancar to feel even more unsure.

“Months ago, I came across an Ex Shinigami named Akira. He had an axe to grind with the Gotei and we spoke at length about his hopes and dreams, as usual whenever I come across someone. An ambitious fellow, he talked about how he wished to see the organisation burn. Back then, I had a more of a negative view on the Gotei at the time and so it was rather easy for us to form an accord. We talked about many subjects but it always kept coming back around to his dislike for his fellow Shinigami. At the end of the conversation, I promised that if he ever actually went through with actually trying to fulfill his desire, I would be there to help him to do so.” She eventually said somberly, figuring that the truth was the only real way in the end to say it.

Falling silent briefly, she would sigh before carrying on. “I was sceptical that he would ever go through with his desire but to my great surprise, I received news that he had joined up with a band of Arrancar in order to attack the Soul Society. I felt that I had no choice but to accompany them on their endeavour, given that I had previously said I would. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and I found myself on the battlefield, using my powers to manipulate Shinigami into slaughtering each other.”

ARIANDA VAEL

Even if Sabriel took a long time to reply to what Arianda had asked her, the demon waited patiently. Even as Sabriel remained silent, and then finally explained, Arianda didn't cease the gentle motion of her fingers. It was a small thing, but Arianda hoped the constant sensation would help Sabriel feel a tiny bit more relaxed. Once Sabriel began to unload, Ari was inwardly surprised by the volume. However, Arianda listened, nodding gently so that Sabriel knew she was still listening. During such intense conversation, Arianda's hand often paused within Sabriel's hair or upon the woman's head to involuntarily show just how well Arianda was listening to Sabriel. While the thought that Sabriel had attacked the Seireitei did feel Arianda with some uncertainty, the thought that a man by the name of Akira brought this to Sab... It did cause Arianda some anger. But, not now. Now Sab was much more important than some man with a chip on his shoulder.

"Thank you for telling me, Sabriel. I don't quite know what to say yet... But I'm glad you told me."

Arianda didn't give much more than that for a good time. However, her response wasn't bad... It was a simple gesture that Arianda was glad Sabriel confided in her. The Arrancar stayed silent for an extended period of time, somewhat like Sabriel, but the gentle affection, the running of her hand through Sabriel's raven hair, and the tiniest kiss upon Sabriel's forehead... It all showed Arianda wasn't reacting adversely, but truly glad that Sabriel came to Ari and told her. Like she said, it was the least she could do. After all, Arianda had made many mistakes of her own in the past, some that still marked her to this day; others that would certainly mark her for life. Attacking the soul society, causing soul reapers to slaughter each other, these were the marks of someone who regretted their actions. This wasn't entirely the attitude of a hollow, who had lost their heart. But Sabriel...? She was full of regret and remorse. But what could be done to help pay it forward? What could they do to make up for this wrong? Sell out Akira? She didn't know...

"I think... We must deal with what has occurred to our best ability. Be that some manner of redemption, or some way to repay the Soul Society, I don't really know... But what I do know is that if you regret these actions, my love. Don't let that feeling go, hold it tight... Let it blossom into something good... Something that will free you from its shackles. But don't forget it, to forget what we have done is to forget who we are. Instead, my love, use it to help you better yourself."

Arianda spoke as if she had experienced similar events before, as if she too had sought redemption at a time. She had, even if Sabriel may not know that she had... But Arianda wouldn't tell her of it, not yet. The Arrancar had been through hell, she had suffered, and Sabriel knew some of it. However, Arianda knew Sabriel was truly an honest and kind woman. Even if she wasn't at one point, Sabriel had changed... She knew Sabriel would be capable of greater change. She knew Sabriel could do what's right. And no, that wasn't to turn herself in. To turn herself in was to die at the hands of the Shinigami. Instead, Sabriel needed to better herself and help others... She needed to control her power over desire so she could choose which desires to accept, and others that she wouldn't. With a gentle peck to the forehead, Arianda reached for one of Sabriel’s hands and squeezed it gently.

"My love... I'm with you, every step of the way. We'll get through this... Together."

In the back of her mind, Sabriel knew that Arianda was right but the Arrancar honestly had no idea how she could repay her previous actions. What could she possibly say or do to make up for the lives lost? It was not as if she could just click her fingers and they would all return to life. More than that though, she was concerned about the reaction from the Soul Society if she made any attempt to make things right. What would happen to her? Would she be thrown in a cell and left to rot? That frightened her more than anything, to be locked away from those she cared for, unable to fulfill her role in the world.

Eventually, she would turn so that she was facing Arianda directly, before wrapping her into an embrace and burying her head into the white haired woman’s shoulder. Her aura, normally filled with so much desire and lust, became completely saturated with unhappiness and fear, as she gave in completely. For the first time in who knows when, tears would start to fall, the dam finally breaking after so many years of listening to the unfortunate tales of those she had met, before finally being pushed over the edge by her own recent pain.

Her words when they did come, were almost inaudible as she started to shake with misery. “I do not know what to do now. My path for once is completely unknown to me and I do not even know how to start when it comes to making up for what I have done. After spending so long helping others fulfill their own desires, I have completely forgotten about what mine are. I feel so lost, even when I am in my palace, surrounded by those I know.”

The presence of Arianda was so comforting though and even as she fell apart, Sabriel felt oh so lucky that she was with someone who genuinely cared for her. In a world filled with false words and feelingless sex, it was rare that the dark haired woman ever felt a true bond and yet what had formed between herself and her fellow Arrancar was solid, like concrete. Where once she would have shivered at the word love, Sabriel now came to appreciate it.

ARIANDA VAEL

No… Sabriel turning herself in certainly wasn’t the right thing to do here. That would kill Sabriel, one way or another. Arianda couldn’t have that, she wanted Sabriel alive and well. But, what then? Perhaps she and Sab could try and help with those who are still recovering from the recent events on Earth; even if they are better than before, that situation was quite poor. It was an idea, at least… and with the fear Arianda felt, and saw, in Sabriel, she knew the woman was considering worse options.

“I don’t mean anything drastic… Maybe we can help those who are still recovering from the events in Africa--”

Arianda’s speech was cut off when Sabriel faced the demon entirely and embraced her. What followed next briefly stunned Arianda. Sab was… Crying… Heart broken honest sobs that tore at Arianda’s heart. AS tears gently welled up in Ari’s eyes, sympathy tears, the Arrancar wrapped her arms around Sabriel and embraced her warmly. She carefully brought a hand to the back of Sabriel’s head where Ari stroked the back of her head and upper back with exaggerated slowness. Afterwards, the Arrancar listened closely to Sabriel’s voice as it shook from her misery. Unseen by Sabriel, a few tears escaped Ari’s eyes… But she was there to comfort Sab, not to let the woman feel Ari’s own sorrow.

Instead, Arianda ceased her own tears and held onto Sab lovingly. She caressed the back of her head, kissed the side of her head with infrequency, and otherwise gently leaned back so Sabriel could lay upon Ari and cry as she needed. As she cried, Arianda provided gentle physical comfort, and her presence meant that she was there just for Sabriel. She didn’t say much, other than tiny whispers ‘I’m here’ to try and comfort Sab a little. Whenever Sab had a reduction in crying, or Ari found it appropriate, she gently spoke to the woman.

“If you have forgotten what yours are, Sabriel… Then let us make new ones. You came to me of your own accord, after all. I’m sure that means something, my love. Sometimes, it’s our deepest and most natural desires that we simply cannot describe. Just… focus on me, focus on what you feel deep inside, my love. What do you desire~?”

Arianda’s words were soft, and full of love. Every single time Ari said Sabriel’s name, or ‘my love’, the words were filled with such adoration and care. Perhaps it was laid on a bit thick, but Arianda wanted Sabriel to understand that Arianda honestly and truly cared; that when Arianda called Sabriel her ‘love’, she meant it. Sabriel wasn’t alone in this, she had Arianda with her. Arianda hoped that Sabriel would focus on Ari, focus on the gentle beating of Ari’s heart, and that slim focus may help Sab realize that she did have desires… Arianda may not be able to feel them like Sab does, but Sabriel’s regret was enough for Ari to know that Sab desired to be better in some way; but what else…? Arianda wished to know, but she wouldn’t push… She would simply wait patiently for Sab to get there. Arianda loved Sabriel and she could wait however long Sabriel needed her to~

The thought of helping those in Africa was not something she had considered but the dark haired Arrancar was not opposed to the thought. At that point, she was not opposed to much of anything, her mind scrambling for some goal to focus on. She has no real idea what she could do for them but perhaps by using her powers in the right way, there was some role that the Arrancar Of Lust could play. Honestly, she just felt so tired, tired of the misery and grief she witnessed every day. How long could a woman spend absorbing all of a person’s misery and attempting to turn it into joy, so to speak? She supposed she had found her answer to that question now.

For the first time in centuries, she found herself clinging to Arianda almost for dear life, as though she feared that the white haired woman would treat her in the same way as Stella. No, the Quincy had not been horrible but the reaction nonetheless had stunned Sabriel to her core. She had naively expected her friend to understand her and in the end, their friendship had been deeply shaken instead, perhaps never to be the same again. That stung, more than a blade to the stomach and that more than anything caused the dark haired woman to realise that she could no longer go on as she was. The last hammer blow that shattered her old way of life.

Attempting to do as Arianda requested, Sabriel would focus upon her, trying to remember the happy times that the two women had spent with one another recently. She would try to push away the misery and bury deeper into her own soul, to discover what she wanted, here and now. It was so strange. How could anyone struggle to know what they wanted? It was humiliating in one way but it was how she felt regardless. What was worse was that simply thinking of her own desires seemed to be causing a reaction, a sense of repulsion towards herself, as though her very core was trying to force her to remain chained to her task, to fulfill all desires…besides her own.

Yet, when the answer finally came to her, it was oh so obvious. The murky and miserable thoughts that plagued her mind would become replaced by a single image. One that helped to remove the enormous weight off of Sabriel’s shoulders. She did not have to carry the burden alone.

Finally, she would pull away from the embrace, her eyes red and puffy as she looked at Arianda. A watery smile trying to form across her face. “What do I desire?” She finally said gently. “I desire someone who cares for me. Someone who wants me in their lives not because they want something from me but because they want to be with me. Someone who will accept me as I am and who will help me through this.”

Placing a hand on the cheek of the Arrancar, she would chuckle, finally sounding at least a little more like herself. “I desire you, Ari, the one who makes me long to have my heart return.”

She paused briefly then but no longer than that. “My love.”

ARIANDA VAEL

The patience of the white-haired Arrancar was honestly impressive as Sabriel seemed to digest what Arianda had suggested. For Sabriel, Arianda could have all the patience in the world. The whole while, Arianda caressed Sabriel’s hair, head, and back. She held the woman closely, lovingly, a gentle hum escaping from the Arrancar’s throat. She was like an anchor in Sabriel’s personal storm, holding the woman to her carefully. She didn’t wish to let Sabriel drift away, and she would keep her safe until she could swim to shore.

Arianda could tell Sabriel was thinking hard, even her tears had seemed to recede. Once the woman seemed ready to speak, she looked straight at Ari. Her eyes were puffy, red, but she was trying to manage a watery smile. Arianda met her smile, a warm and loving smile that helped to illuminate Ari’s face. Indeed, the woman wasn’t alone, she had Arianda.

She told Ari whom she desired, someone who cared for who she was, cared for Sabriel as she was, not because they desired something from her. Sabriel desired *Ari*, the woman who loved Sabriel unconditionally, who could just cuddle and love Sab up all day. The demon smiled even more warmly, echoing Sabriel’s gesture and touching the woman’s face gently; cupping her cheek. Then, Sabriel said two words that caused Ari’s heart to beat faster.

‘My Love’

With just two words, Ari’s usually pale face gained a red-tinted complexion, her heart accelerated in pace, and the demon’s warm smile became a bit wider as Sabriel said those words. Unfiltered joy bled from Arianda as she held Sabriel’s face gently and… Kissed her. But the kiss wasn’t their typical kiss. It wasn’t fueled with burning lust or desire, instead it was fueled by gentle passion. Fueled by love, adoration, and the simple gesture of caring.

The kiss wouldn’t last terribly long, perhaps only a few seconds, but Arianda carried with it so much love… it was hard to deny how the Arrancar felt. So much so that Arianda decided to let free what she had been holding back for so long… a desire she felt she could finally indulge in, and neither of them would regret.

“Sabriel…~ I love you~”
