Re: One Last Bowl [Hono, Yuri]

Yuri grinned as she saw Hono being briefly overwhelmed by her barrage of attacks, the loud CRUNCH as the chunks of earth were dragged into those coffins was deafening as she slammed her feet down into Hono's body, however they were up in the air, and just as her feet were about to make contact, a crackle of energy coursed along her legs, thin arcs of reiryoku coursed along the length of her legs, amplifying the force of that kick in an attempt to blast Hono down into the ground and push her away from her, but frankly, with Hono grabbing her ankle, all it meant was that the full force slammed into hono's body instead of sending her into the ground, and Yuri gritted her teeth as she was thrown to the ground following the strike, barely orienting herself at the last second to slam into the dirt not in a heap, but with her palm striking the ground in a headstand.
Ache.
Pain shooting up the length of her arm and into her shoulder, flipping up to her feet and apnting for a few seconds as she allowed Hono to land unmolested, smirking a little as she leered down Hono, her eyes shifting to the side, their zanpakuto were still stuck in a chunk of earth nearby, and Yuri couldn't help but grin a little. Gesturing towards them with a sly smile. Giving an 'after you' to the woman as she caught her breath, recovering as best she could from the pain in her legs and the headache from overexerting herself with that spell. It was fine, just a few seconds to relax and she'd be fine.
"My goodness Hono. I'm a little disappointed. Is this all you can manage without your Zanpaku'to?" She ventured with a little tilt of her head. "You know, if you grab your zanpakuto and use your shikai, you could still tie." She hummed calmly, raising a hand towards the woman and curling her palm in a 'come get some' gesture.

Honestly, Hono squeezed her ankle, tight not wanting to let go for even a moment, as she took the kick she coughed out a bit of blood, as Yuri slammed into her own body, and they both fell towards the ground, Yuri recovered with a handstand, while Hono managed to recover by landing on her feet, sure it stung, but so did everything else, though she wasn’t thinking about all that pain right now, all that mattered was throwing Yuri into the dirt! Her feet shaking, as if she were about to collapse, as absorbing the force of the impact couldn’t be good for her knees…
However, as soon as she heard Yuri speak she kept up her offensive, using a Shunpo once again, she didn’t want to give Yuri a chance to recover, after her kido spells. There was no chance Hono could let her get another one off.
“You go first then! I don’t need it!” She shouted as she appeared in front of Yuri, her Shunpo was weak given her fatigue, but still, she was pushing herself, instead of a punch this time she went for a sweep, attempting to knock Yuri right off of her feet, using her reiryoku to empower her feet, which she’d follow up with punch downwards, trying to spike Yuri into the dirt.

Yuri couldn't help but grin just a little as she watched Hono promptly spring towards her. A crackle of a shunpo as she shot backwards, up the length of the diagonal slab of earth, grinning as Hono would be forced to chase Yuri up the hill as that punch was launched towards her and she blurred, taking that full emported punch to her shoulder, pain shooting through her body... as the fist went clean through her.
An afterimage.
Another hoho technique as Yuri slipped behind Hono. "Oh? You know, you're getting pretty worn out. You sure you shouldn't take a breath?" She SHOT her elbow back into Hono's back, trying to deal a strike before Hono could simply spin about and punish her for the awkard angle of the attack.
"Take a second, catch your breath. I know damn well you're not worn out just yet." She smiled slowly. She hadn't actually planned this out, but it was slowly occurring to her that this actually worked out best for her. After all, the point system meant that this fight would occur in stages. Once someone was willing to escalate the fight. However, Hono was playing a much more dangerous game.
"You know. You'll still lose if I take you out before you take your weapons right?" She smiled a bit wider. "I think its pretty clear. That I have a lot more options than you without our zanpakuto. Not only that but..." She allowed a slow smile to creep across her lips as she stared hono down.
"You're getting awfully beat up, aren't you? We both are. But I do wonder.... which of our zanpakuto benefits most from us both being beat up?" She ventured playfully. Curious to see if Hono could remember what her zanpakuto did. If she remembered the fact that as soon as she released, these injuries of hers would be more or less handled. Hono, however, had no such second wind. Continuing to refrain from striking back. Trying to get that brain of Hono's to start working here.
Curious to see what Hono would prioritize. The win? Or the Points?~

Hono had a plan, one that might change the flow of the fight, she didn’t care about the points much, sure they were nice, but a fight wasn’t about points, it was about the winner. The afterimage annoyed her, but as she felt Yuri’s elbow drive into Hono’s back, she caught herself, using his hands to stop herself from hitting the ground, she quickly pushed herself back to her feet. Just as Yuri suggested, Hono would catch her breath, recovering from the attacks she had taken. It was clear that Yuri would beat her in a weaponless battle, but maybe that’s what Hono needed. Her plan was about to take action. After just a second of breathing she would once again flashstep.
Yuri would crush Hono if she released her Shikai; she couldn’t let that happen… If it did, the fight would be as good as ever, but she could leverage that. Hono didn’t need to release her Shikai, so she could use her Zanpakuto to pressure Yuri.
Placing her hand firmly on the hilt of her Zanapkuto, her and Yuri’s Zanapkuto were roughly equidistant apart.
“Bakudo 31.Harikawakinko 玻璃川金 (Glass River Safe) .”
Usually, she stuck to Kido, but seemed to be shaking it up, eventually, she pointed her left finger directly at Yuri’s Zanapkuto as a dome of reishi manifested around Yuri’s Zanpakuto. A simple barrier to block her weapon. The dome appeared almost glass-like, with a soft red tint. The spell was weak, but it should buy her a bit of time to stop Yuri from getting that Zanpakuto. She panted, partially exhausted from casting a kido like that.
“You might have more options, but that just means I gotta use my options smarter.” She smirked, finally pulling her own Zanpakuto from the dirt. “One point for you. Now, round two?”
With that, Hono would once again disappear before quickly reappearing in front of Yuri, but as she went for a slash, she disappeared! Pushing herself to flash step once again immediately to feint her strike, then again, and then a fourth time, as she did she felt the strain growing on her legs. After the fourth she appeared beside Yuri and slashed behind the woman, gripping her hilt with both hands going for one strong swing at Yuri’s back.

Yuri's brows raised slightly as she watched Hono take the opportunity to rest. A lopsided smile caressing Yuri's features as she gave a gentle chuckle in response to the sudden actions of her student. And before she had much of an opportunity to react, not only did Hono grasp her sword, but promptly sealed Yuri's own weapon. Even at a glance, she could tell it wasn't stable. Hono wasn't ready for a spell of that nature, but all the same, it brought a slow smile to her features as she lightly flexed her fingers and braced herself. The sudden spike in energy as hono began shifting rapidly around her. Shit.
She could track Hono fine, but with the sudden inclusion of Hoho, it became a much rougher situation, narrowing her eyes as she promptly raised her arms in a guard, a slow steady huff through her nostrils as her skin promptly was reinforced, her body going rigid. But it still only helped so much as that blade lashed across her back, slizing into her uniform and drawing a sharp hiss from Yuri as she lunged forward. Executing a mule kick behind her, the air erupting in a burst of force as she aimed to slam her foot clean into Hono's ribs with the full force of her spiritual energy, intent on not just striking a firm blow, but potentially cracking a rib as she panted, blood running down her back as she vanished with a shunpo of her own, standing over the sealed blade.
"Finalmente..... knowing when to draw your sword. Even going for dirty tactics." She couldn't help the slow smile that crept across her face as she then slammed her fist down in a straight punch into that barrier, a crackle of spirit energy along her forearm, shattering that translucent barrier, grasping at the hilt as she then flashed a grin at Hono.
"I declare. Farewell." Spiritual energy bubbled up around her as white spread along the length of her blade and promptly the familiar snap of what looked like veins running along the length of her body would be seen before vanishing as those roots spread through her body, promptly repairing damage as it soaked up the energy from the death of her cells. And even more than that, her spiritual pressure boiled outward across the landscape as she promptly conceded a point to Hono.
"Fall O Stars. Boil O Seas. Reach up with your flesh stripped to bone, and Sight the light of four dead stars." She began to recite, spiritual energy ripping across the ground to spread out in four points before stopping to pool into four pools of energy as she started up a spell.

As Hono brought her blade down, she made sure to push, thankfully Yuri had reinforced her body, Hono didn’t have to worry about killing Yuri, she knew the woman would find a way. Regardless she felt triumph as she saw Yuri’s blood leak out from her, she was able to be cut… As Hono was kicked in the ribs, she went flying back, her rib cracking from the powerful kick, as she flew back, she thrust her sword into the earth, stabbing the blade and gripping it to stop a lot of the knockback, Hono would briefly kneel and catch her breath.
Catching her breath as she watched Yuri punch through her weak barrier, Yuri finally drew her Zanapkuto, a bad sign as she remembered all too well what Yuri’s Zanpakuto could do. Damn it, Hono needed to release, that increase could be exactly what she needed, she needed to break through.
Yuri was casting a spell, a nasty one, Hono could feel it, deciding to bring back an older spell she used before, stronger than it was last time.
“Strip away sight. Bakudo Number 3! Teiden!"
She rushed the casting, trying to get it out quicker, but she didn’t care HOW large the spell was, it was all about where it was. Soon after the spell, a thick black fog would surround Yuri’s general location, usually, this spell would fill a large area, but due to the rushed casting, it only covered a small area, which is exactly what Hono wanted, blocking Yuri’s sight from her would likely make her spell a lot harder to land.
Though after this, Hono would suppress her Pressure, bringing it as low as she could, it suppressed her strength, but it would make Hono a harder target to hit. Pulling her blade from the ground she made sure to focus in on the black cloud, not sure what Yuri would launch from the inside.

SHer tongue ran over her lips as she watched that black shroud spread across the area, her eyes narrowing even as she sat in the center of the formation of energy, that smile only widening as she could sense Hono backing off, or at the very least dropping her spiritual pressure. She kept herself focused, her pupils dilating as she slowly raised her sword up, both hands firmly grasping the handle as she felt the energy inside of her shifting. Soft pale blooms sprouting along her back where Hono's blade had cut her, slowly growing into a flower.
The smoke did well to hide what she was doing next. With swift slips of her blade, she slashed herself. Her wrist. Her thigh. Her calf, evven cutting her shoulder as she promptly worked, blood dripping down onto the matrix of reiryoku as those roots grew along her frame, only to grit her teeth as unlike normal, thorns bit into her flesh from each of the wounds, and the pale flowers that had grown over each of the wounds promptly stained read as the thorns reopened the wounds and let blood into the flowers.

The smoke did well to hide what she was doing next. Hono decided to release now while she had a few moments, softly speaking to herself. “Breakthrough. Kazagumowari” Her Zanpakuto's blade began to crumble, leaving behind her Shikai’s form, a cleaver with chunks of the blade missing. Hopefully, Yuri didn’t hear her release nor feel her spiritual pressure increase regardless, of whether Yuri heard her release or not it didn’t matter.
Deciding for a more risky move, Hono would Shunpo into the cloud of smoke, attempting to strike Yuri, Hono was making a blind shot here. She would swing for where she felt the most spiritual pressure, hoping the element of surprise was on her side.
She planned to simply get her shards into Yuri, hopefully with the increase in her strength it would let her pierce through Yuri, and imbue into her.

Perfect.
Hono could try and hide a release all she wanted, but it was hard not to with the uptick that came with it. Some releases were made for stealth, Hono's certainly wasn't. And so when she suddenly lunged in and executed that slash, she found a Yuri whom hadn't moved an inch from the spot she'd been before. She'd figured that Hono wouldn't go for anywhere vital, so there was no need to make any cuts there. And when Hono went in for the straight slash, her sword certainly had the capacity to cut into her body.
What it DIDN'T have the capacity to do was cut through her zanpaku'tos thorns. IN eschange for gouging out the wounds that she'd made herself. Hono's blade found not flesh, but the hard shorns from the flower growing out of her body. It wasn't a perfect block, but that blade slammed into the thorny roots, halted from making a full cut, as only the barest edge of that weapon shallowly cut Yuri's skin. Not that Hono would see any of this, all she'd feel was her blade slamming int something solid, and then the impact of six bars of light slamming into her midsection to restrain her.
"No es exacta. IF you;re going to use smoke to blind yourself and your opponent, then you either need to find a way to give yourself the sensory advantage, or you had best be prepared to outthink your opponent." Yuri smiled wider as her spirutal pressure FLARED, blowing away the smoke so that Hono could see the situation she was in. The numerous cuts that had more or less covered Yuri in bloody thorny armor, and of course the trap she'd gone ahead and walked right into. "You don't have much in the way of ranged options with that blade of yours, so even if you saw me setting up my little trap. You still had to walk into it to deal a proper blow. If I stayed where I was, I'd know exactly what you'd have to do. Or rather, what you'd WANT to do." The air suddenly grew hot as light shone down from above. The spell she'd been prepping, and maintaining in it's pre-firing state, something she'd had to keep prepped even while casting a level 61 bakudo. Frankly, it wasn't something she could usually do in combat, the amount of focus required meant she'd need to remain entirely still, and even then, she'd need something keeping her focused. The smell of the flowers all over her body, even hono would feel the soothing effect. Potent enough to keep Yuri's mind focused on the juggling act.
A giant ball of flames, like a miniature sun shone above, and Yuri raised a hand to point at Hono's chest as that ball of flames started to slowly sink down towards them. Not that it would actually hit them, but well. This Kido was something she'd cooked up herself, she didn't imagine Hono would know what would happen next. "So, are we going to surrender, or shall I fire?"

As Hono’s blade clashes with Yuri’s thorns, damnit, those thorns! The bane of Hono’s existence. Her blade suddenly hit an almost brick wall, Hono held her blade there for a second as she pushed into it, though to no luck. Yuri’s kido quickly restrained the Shinigami. Shit! Hono would struggle to break free.
As the smoke cleared, she was angry with herself for falling for something like this and seeing Yuri just heal up her wounds made her even more furious. She felt untouchable, The overwhelming smell and sudden heat were… alarming, as Hono glanced up, at the light, squinting her eyes instinctively. A fire spell? That was a new one, but honestly, she was a little confused by Yuri’s logic, was she REALLY just going to torch Hono like that? Regardless the word surrender wasn’t one Hono ever used, she was just that damn hard-headed.
“Go ahead, shoot it.” She spoke with a straight face, calling Yuri’s bluff, then again this lady was totally crazy. Regardless Hono couldn’t do much, as she was restrained by the bars. She did however have one final option, while her blow was blocked by Yuri’s thorns, she was curious if any parts of her blade managed to seep inside.
“Rend” She spoke calmly, though in a tone that signified almost a question. She wasn’t sure herself if she managed to slice into Yuri. Though it wasn’t like she had any other options. When she first unlocked her Zanpakuto this ability was lethal, however as she understood her Zanpakuto more, she found out she could prevent the shards from slicing all the way through, which of course she wouldn’t let happen, but this still was completely determined on whether or not she managed to slice Yuri enough.
