I Have A Bad Feeling About This (Doku/Ashaiya)

This woman kept impressing him, simply lifting the men up with her powers. She REALLY was like those space wizards, more now than before, he could use his portals, but he couldn’t exactly fling them through them, it would drain his energy, quickly. So he just did it the old-fashioned way, grumbling to himself. Something about if he were able to do that, poor Doku.

“With my luck? I’m sure things won’t go as I planned-” He laughed, looking over at his friend as they escorted the criminals to the police. “Me in action? Please, all I did was hit a dude with a whip” He laughed, not really seeing it as all that impressive.

“I shoot a gun and sling a whip, meanwhile you lift people with your mind” He chuckled, eventually they arrived at the police station, where Doku wasn’t exactly sure WHERE to put the men. Instead he decided to let her take the lead. Of course, she was the hero, he was her sidekick. “Lead the way miss superhero~” He walked over and nudged Ashaiya.

The fluffy haired woman brushed her hand through her hair as he complimented her, always finding such things difficult to accept. She didn’t know why but she just never took them well for some reason and a brief look of embarrassment would cross her features. Ashaiya was confident in her powers but she didn’t like to boost too much, simply because she didn’t feel the need to. She’d worked hard in her training and her Master had taught her to be humble if at all possible. The woman just wished that those she fought would be too, for the sake of her poor ears. If there was one thing she didn’t like, it was a boastful opponent.

Smiling as he joked about his own abilities and complimenting her again, Ashaiya would take him up on his offer of leadership and enter the police station, the two men still hovering rather oddly beside her. She trusted Doku to be able to handle the other guy well enough although perhaps not as easily. Approaching the front desk, she’d rather abruptly drop the men so that they were laid out beside her, turning her attention to the bemused looking policeman behind the desk.

“My friend and I have captured three thugs who were trying to mug a helpless victim. Could you please place them in a holding cell?” Her tone was solid and a tad no nonsense.

“Of course but I’m going to need a few details first, Miss…?”

“Enfield. Ashaiya Enfield and my friend here is Doku Fischer.”

Summoning another officer to aid him, the two policemen would combine their efforts informally arresting the men while Ashaiya would turn to Doku, her expression turning a little more shy again. “I hope that this won’t take too long. I was hoping we could spend a little more time together."

As he and Ash stayed together, Doku just grew more curious about her, one minute when she needed to be a hero she was brave and even made quips, but when they were personal she was shy. He wanted to figure out his new friend, and maybe help her with that shyness. Which he knew wouldn’t be the easiest task.

The unconscious man was heavy, really heavy, mainly cause he was just deadweight. Tossing the knocked-out man on top of his buddy, eventually looked towards Ash as she explained the situation.

His information? Bleh. He had a run-in with the police at his bar before, and he knew how much of a headache that could be. “This police station I’ve called before. I had some dudes threaten me at the bar. They're pretty quick"

His face heated up just a bit, as she admitted to wanting to spend more time with him. “Well, Like I said, this is a pretty good memory I think!”

The cops could be seen putting the men in the cell and having some minor chitchat with them. Asking them for their side of the story, but with how scared they were they confessed rather easily.

“How long are you in Japan for? I mean if you wanna waste your days hanging out with me, that’s totally up to you” He shrugged, eventually taking a seat on one of the seats before pulling out his wallet and his ID, so he could hand it off when the cop returns.

“But hey, it’s your trip, spend it however you want-” A very feint chuckle, escaped from him as he pulled out his phone. “Going back to what I was saying before we saw the muggers. If you need anything lemme know. You can crash at my place if you want" Doku would offer again, honestly, he’d offer this to any of his friends, despite his apartment not being the best, he just wanted to be helpful.

With the police seeming to have the matter in hand for the most part, Ashaiya simply gave her ID to the officer for him to check while she focused on what Doku was saying to her. Normally, she probably would have planned it all out but the truth of the matter was that she was trying to erm loose up a bit? It might have sounded silly but such was the fluffy haired woman that even something like that took some thought. Ah, it was so embarrassing but she was trying her best. The six months since she’d first met Doku had certainly been eye opening for her and the Fullbringer and she supposed that she was still figuring herself out in a way.

“I’d say it’s been a day to remember.” She answered with a small smile. “We got to see space wizards on the big screen and then got to stop a few evil doers in the real world. I don’t think there are many people who can claim that. I hope that maybe next time though, the villains can give us a little space and not get in the way. I don’t know about you but I’ve made a few enemies lately and any chance to forget about them is one I’d appreciate.” Such was the life of the justice seeking woman.

“I don’t plan on going back just yet. It’s been a long trip and it would be a bit of a waste if I went back so soon. I admit that I’m trying to spend a bit more time in cities to help me deal with my anxiety and up to a point it kind of has. It’s not as bad as it was when we first met.” She’d go on to say, somewhat more proud of that than any heroics.

“I’ll take you up on your offer of giving me a room during my time if you don’t mind.” The woman would finally say with a nod, grateful for the offer.

Doku just followed up with the police officer, handing off his ID, where they’d go and process everything, Doku went through his phone swiping and scrolling quickly as he waited for everything to be processed. However, as Ashaiya spoke up, he quickly put his phone away and focused on his friend. Speaking to him, where he’d quickly respond. “Evil doers… and you’re one hundred percent you’re NOT a super hero? I need to get you a cape and a mask.” He teased rather playfully. “Enemies? You got like. A super villain? A killer clown? A bald billionaire?” The bartender laughed.

“If you really wanna interact with people, go to a bar or a club. NOT my bar, you wouldn’t like the customers that come in- but you could go to a club and make some friends, just uh. Be smart, and avoid bad people-“

Was that really the smartest idea from Doku? Suggesting the horribly shy girl go to a bar with a ton of people? Eh, maybe? But Doku wasn’t the smartest anyway.

Well, with her staying, he would need to clean up. “It’s just a single room apartment, but I promise I’ll give you your privacy, and whatnot”

“Not yet but maybe one day I will be.” Ashaiya joked gently, chuckling as he teased her. “I’m just a girl with a glowing sword who doesn’t like people who treat others like rubbish.” It was just a shame that in the modern world, there were more criminals around than ever and the fluffy haired woman felt like she was running into them now more than ever. “That being said, I wouldn’t mind being able to make a suit of armour one day, something flexible but tough.”

When he spoke about visiting a bar other than his, Ashaiya would blink and reply after some thought. “Hmm. I don’t think I’m quite ready for visiting clubs solo just yet. I still have a bit of trouble just walking around large cities, let alone places with loud music and even louder people everywhere. Maybe one day but until then, I think I’ll just try and stick to quieter spots.”

With the police matter seemingly settled, she’d smile and add after a moment or two. “I appreciate the offer of a place to say, I honestly do.”

Her words confirmed what he was saying: REAL heroes didn’t help people for the money or the fame; they did it because they knew it was morally correct. Doku read enough comics to know that. That’s what made the best heroes! A suit of armor? He might be able to help with that.

“Shoot, I have a friend who might be able to help you out.” The Fullbringer folded his arms, standing up and looking towards Ashaiya. “I know this girl named Catherine, and she makes a LOT of battle stuff” he lightly chuckled.


“That’s probably for the best, Clubs are rough…” He sighed himself. “I don’t go. I can’t deal with it myself. I’ll take you whenever you’re up for it, while clubs suck… it’s a core part of people our age!”

As Doku exited from the police station, he turned back to look at her. “Of course, anytime. Was I supposed to leave you without a place to stay?” He chuckled lightly, walking towards his bar.

“You do? Well, I might have to get in contact with her if she can give me a hand.” The fluffy haired woman replied after some thought. “I do kind of wonder if one day I’ll be able to have another item of affinity which could work as armour but I’ll definitely consider some equipment instead. My sword is awfully flashy and does the job when I’m on offence but I do lack a bit of defence. Bringerlight can only do so much for us when it comes to evasion, after all.”

When he spoke about clubs, Ashaiya would look a tad uneasy but she’d try to cover it through humour. “Do I look like the kind of girl who’d be at home at a club? I’d probably stick out like a sore thumb. I wouldn’t want to ruin the atmosphere with my nervous dancing.” The thought of being on the dancefloor was rather frightening to be honest and a step that perhaps was too far for her at that point. Why was it that she could fight in front of a crowd but not dance?

Following him as he walked off, she’d curiously ask. “How long have you owned your bar out of interest? Is it a family business or something?”

Catherine likely wouldn’t mind it, it was more business for her after all. He nodded. “Catherine is… weird but she can make you cool equipment!” He didn’t exactly want to go more into what Catherine did exactly.

A second affinity, he knew it was possible but he needed to think about it himself. “I dunno what else I would be attached to. My object is one from my mom, so that’s why I got so attached to it. Dunno what else would do that for me” He shrugged. Though he was excited to see Ash’s powers change, they were already extremely cool, so he wanted to see how things went.

“Do you think I have luck at clubs?’ He joked with her, shrugging. “We can go to the comic store. Might be more up your alley-” He quickly decided to correct himself. “I’d have to look it up where a nearby one is! I haven’t been in years!” A lie, Doku just didn’t want to admit that.

As they creepered closer to the bar, Ash got to see the outside, it wasn’t grand, a faint sign reading Yatagurasu. “Oh! Well, it was my friend Helen's. Her family runs a ton of restaurants and bars around the world, they had this one that failed. So they gave it over to me” He explained finally heading inside.

“Maybe you just haven’t come across it yet?” Ashaiya replied as Doku thought about a second affinity. “I confess that I’m not sure what mine would be either but we’ve both got plenty of time to discover it.” She certainly hoped that one day she could reach that level and the brown eyed woman was eager to grow in terms of her abilities. The more she could do, the more she could help out other people or that was what she thought anyway. “I admit the thought of going into a fight with sword glowing and armour glistening is a fun one.”

“Not everyone is meant for club life.” She remarked with a smile as he agreed with her on that subject. “The thought of going to a comic book store sounds like fun though. When I was a child, one of the fellows who worked at my home would sometimes bring me a few to read. I can’t remember the titles off hand but I think they might have started my desire for justice.” Of course, there were far more ominous reasons for that too but she refused to sour the mood.

As they reached his bar, Ashaiya would cock a brow. It looked like a joint that she’d visited once although it hadn’t ended that well because she’d tried to get information from the wrong guy. It had ended up ending violently but a lesson had been learned…by him. “She gave you a bar? That’s quite a friend you have there. Are you having much success?”
