Guiding Light [Yuri, Calliope]
Fri Nov 29, 2024 4:40 pm
What a pain in the ass getting to earth had been. But holy shit had it been worth it. Even now, there was nothing but smiles on Yuri's face as she waited patiently for her appointment. Joining the Wahrender had .. not exactly been what she had always planned. Frankly she had intended to just do shinigami things on earth. Certainly, the Hisoudan had been... an interesting prospect. But then she'd seen that speech on TV. Frankly, it wasn't something she was all too sure of at first, but out of boredom she'd decided to look into the organization. the ONce-Vandenreich. She always knew that they were a pretty diverse group, about to be even more diverse. And that's when it had hit her.
Her idea.
Her DREAM. Or at least, a permutation of one she'd had when she was a much younger shinigami. When in the academy she had gone out of her way to tutor her fellow soul reaper. Enrty had been easy, but she had expected that. But she wasn't content with that. That was the whole reason why she was here. And for the first time.... in quite a long time, she felt a build of excitement in her chest as she heard her name being called to step into the Director's office.
She thanked the receptionist and promptly strode into the office proper. That smile relaxed a bit, and she steeled herself. She knew plenty about procedure and red tape. The Sixth had taught her that, for all the hope in her heart, there were still rules, steps, and probably some bullshit she'd have to deal with. It had taken a week after joining to get her thoughts together, to look into just how the Wahrender was structured, how it worked, and to get an idea of just how plausible what she had in mind was, no less, how needed. This, was not even the end. Even if everything in this meeting went right, there was so much work that would need to be done. But if nothing else, she was excited for it.
Once she stepped into the office, she offered a respectful bow at the waist.
"Aiban Yuri, thank you for seeing me today, Director. "

Calliope R. SchwarzmannDirector, Albedochiffren
Calliope enjoyed the distant shores of the California beaches as seen from her office. She didn't actually like going on the beach—sand was not her favorite thing in the world—but she did enjoy going to the beach. It being distant-yet-close was just tantalizing. She could make a day trip out of it! But today wasn't a day trip day. She still had meetings, and her new real estate wasn't quite ready. Although she was going to maintain her primary residence in the City of Lights, she did have another home purchased... elsewhere nearby. She kept it hidden behind a shell game of cover companies and identities—it would be her little sanctuary away from others. The movers were still offloading furniture from the boat, and once that was done she'd be unreachable for about a week. This is was why this meeting was happening.
It just couldn't wait.
There wasn't much information given about the woman she was meeting with. Yet another Gotei refugee. The only thing surprising about this one was that the Sternritter hadn't snatched her. Perhaps it was to do with the ambiguous "proposal" she was offering. Calliope leaned back in her antique office chair. Her office was no longer spartan—multiple statuettes and non-flower floral arrangements dotted the walls. One wall was dominated by an aquarium and filled with shiny, silvery fish that darted around the tank. It was something between the office of a lawyer and that of a dentist. There was clinical, welcoming air to it that was meticulously crafted.
Calliope sat forward in her chair. She did not rise. "Miss Aiban." Correctly noting that Aiban was her surname, Calliope greeted the younger woman with the same grace a principal might a parent. "I hope you are finding the City of Lights to be hospitable. The move to the west coast did not go entirely as smoothly as we would have wished, and there are certainly some inconveniences about. Is this your first trip to Earth?"

Yuri smiled to the woman and gave a gentle nod as she remained standing for the time being, folding her hands infront of her as the woman promptly greeted her. The cadence didn't escape her, and she offered a gentle nod in response to the question about her presence on earth. "Some limited visits in the past. I'd actually changed divisions to work on earth more often before the dissolving. As for the move here, It wasn't bad at all. Its a refreshing change from soul society." She noted lightly, clearing her throat for a moment before she gestured towards the woman's desk.
"I actually am used to bouncing between locations a lot so having a space to set aside for myself at all is rather nice." She noted before then canting her head a bit to the side. "But, I'm not too worried about the past, or the present for that matter. As I'm sure you've been notified, it's the future I'm far more interested in."
