Kanna Aikotsuki was finally given a day off and was ready to use this chance to just relax and stay away from the ridiculous amount of paperwork that was constantly piling up on her desk. Having finished all of her work, before she got more, she was luckily given some time to herself. Of course, if she was truly needed she could be found, but for now this was her own time. She began walking through the Seireitei until she came to a small establishment. This place had been recently brought about to allow Shinigami to take their breaks without being forced out of the Seireitei and into Rukongai. Now, she had her own little place to relax, besides the library. She wasn't really in the mood for researching or even reading some sort of fiction book. She truly just wanted to get something to eat, have a drink, and settle down for the day.

Entering the little cafe, she was soon seated by the owner. She sat down with the normal look in her eyes. She never smiled, hardly spoke, and kept to herself as usual. being handed a small menu, she looked through the items and just asked for a cup of tea and some rice with vegetables. Simple, cheap, and just the way she liked it. She waited for a few minutes and her tea was brought to her. Taking a deep breath, she suddenly felt her stomach growl. She set her hand on it and sighed. Yes, even Kanna Aikotsuki, the cold and serious woman had the ability to get hungry at some times. As if that fact wasn't obvious. It was just the fact that she had allowed herself to get hungry enough to have her stomach growl out that loudly. She glanced around and it seemed that no one else heard, but that wasn't to be saying much. There were only three or four more peoeple in the place from what she could see.

"Time... to relax..." she mumbled to herself as she picked up her cup. Placing it to her lips, she took a quiet sip and swallowed the cool liquid. She set the cup down and leaned back in her chair, awaiting her food.

Snopy didn't have anything to do for the day. He had done all the tasks assigned and even helped with some paperwork. Though his position didn't get paperwork, some people seemed to have caught on to Snopy's high intelligence, even though he didn't always show it. It was more that he was so laid-back no one noticed, actually. His speech patterns had obviously given it away, and he had to help some of the higher ups. They were grateful, and pleasant, enough so Snopy didn't mind. Either way, he didn't know what he felt like doing.

He pushed some of his hair out of his eyes as he looked out on something that was rather new. It was a little cafe. For the most part Snopy wasn't very fond of such establishments. He, or course, preferred to eat in the comfort of his own home, where food wasn't crazy expensive. Yet he felt a little parched and a little food wouldn't have hurt either. He sucked it up and went into the establishment. As he walked in he looked around for a moment. Then something caught his attention. He heard what sounded like someone's stomach growling. Normally no one would notice, but Snopy's senses were ones to be feared. Not that fear had anything to do with a cafe. Just as an observation, he spoke, mainly to himself but it was still quite audible. Wow, that person's stomach growled pretty loudly. He suddenly stopped talking as he realized that was loud enough for whomever made the sound to hear it. He wasn't embarrassed, he was far beyond the times where he would be embarrassed by such matters. He just wished he had been a bit more courteous to the patron, they were, after all, there to eat something. He glanced over to where the sound had come from and saw something that caught him a little off guard.

It was Kanna, and she looked...well, as she usually did. Snopy calmed down a bit. Kanna probably wouldn't be bothered by such a thing, and if she was he could easily apologize. Whether she accepted was none of his concern. He walked over to her, whom he knew would have heard him considering she was only about 2 tables away from where he had spoken, and he did not speak quietly. Sorry about that, I shouldn't have said that so loud. He politely bowed to show he was sorry. Though he did his best to be polite, the level of politeness wasn't something he was used to, and it showed. He was used to being laid-back, rather than uptight. He hoped she wouldn't notice the slight awkwardness with which he apologized.

Kanna's left eye twitched only slightly. She closed her eyes in annoyance. She heard the voice. Oh yes, she definitely heard the voice. It was one she recognized. "Snopy..." she thought to herself as she took another sip of tea. Setting the cup down, she kept her head lowered, her eyes shifting his direction when he came to stand next to her. She raised her head to look at him while he apologized, but did not reply to him. He made it quite apparent that he was not used to having to apologize, although he did try to hide it. "If you want... sit." was all she said. A moment later, the waitress came back to the table and set her order down in front of her. Picking up a spoon, ignoring the chopsticks, she began to eat her food slowly. As she took her foot bite, she only glanced up to him, shifting her eyes in his direction, waiting to see whether he would sit down or not.

He sensed the slight annoyance that she felt. He found it funny that he always seemed to wander to an area Kanna happened to be in. If there was a reason they kept meeting like this, he had yet to understand it. Its true he was trying to come to understand her, but most of their meetings were accidental. For once, Snopy kept his sigh to himself as he accepted her offer. He sat down, only ordering a glass of water and some rice. He hadn't been that hungry in the first place, he only ordered the food because he was there.

He looked up at Kanna. I never expected to see you in a place like this, of course it could just be the fact that I don't know you well. It had come to his attention he had never really made a real attempt to get to know her. Perhaps, it was time to change that. So Kanna, if you don't mind me asking, could you tell me about your past. Of course, if you don't want to answer you don't have to. He waited for some form of "why do you care" response. Whenever he asked these kind of questions he got that kind of response. Still, maybe she would just tell him. He just had to wait and see how she responded.

Kanna finished another bite as he decided to sit down. She was only mildly surprised that he had taken her offer and sat down. She wasn't able to tell if he ordered his food out of hunger, or just so he wasn't sitting there and doing nothing. He didn't 'have' to stay, so if he wasn't hungry why would he? Kanna took another small bite and chewed while listening to him speak. "It's my day off. I was hungry and I heard a place like this opened up so people wouldn't have to leave the Seireitei and go to Rukongai just to get a bite to eat and drink. The food doesn't seem that bad either." She took another small sip of her tear and set the cup down once again. The waitress came by and asked her if she wished for more and Kanna nodded, "Thank you."

Hearing Snopy's question, she looked at him with the same serious look she had once before. Although she didn't know it, his assumptions were right. "I have no problem answering your question, although I would prefer it if you explained to me why you would want to know about it." After she finished speaking, she took another small bite of her food. The waitress then came back with Snopy's food and her tea, setting them both down. The waitress turned to Snopy and asked him if he was sure he didn't want anything other than a glass of water to drink.

He laughed a bit as he heard her question. He knew it, he just knew it. The waitress brought over his food and Kanna's tea, and began to ask him if he was sure all he wanted was water. No thank you I'm fine. She nodded and walked away after hearing his answer. He thought about it for a second. Why? Because I guess I'm interested. I want to get to know you better. Your cold attitude doesn't bother me in the least, I'm sure you have your reasons. I don't know anything about you, I don't know you at all. So simply put, I'm finding out in the most straightforward way, by asking. Snopy took a few bites of food before finishing up. Does that answer your question, or did I misinterpret it? Snopy continued to eat as he awaited some sort of response from Kanna.

Snopy wondered if he had really answered her question or if he really had misinterpreted it. He took a sip of his water and it felt nice and refreshing. Placing the cup down, he looked back up at Kanna.

Kanna was unable to tell whether he was trying to be a smart ass, or whether he truly was serious in his words. She stopped eating and stared at him for a few moments. "You think I am cold?" she spoke in a semi-softened tone, showing that she was only interested in his meaning when he called her 'cold'. In her mind, she was just distant. It wasn't in her intention to be 'cold', only to be serious and professional. Although, he didn't know this about her. He knew nothing about her, like he had just stated. This was a fact. In truth, she knew nothing about him either, and at this point she was wondering if she was interested or not. In her mind, if you don't ask, she doesn't tell, so it was the same vise versa. She'll listen to people who speak to her, but if she hadn't asked for the information, she probably wouldn't think it was important.

His explanation to her question was what she would call 'satisfactory'. He just wanted to get to know her. That was fine. If he was interested in her past, that would be fine as well, but at the same time, why ask about her past? He could have done the regular or more common thing and asked her favorite food, color, or any hobbies she might have. He could have, but he didn't. He moved straight into the personal area. This made Kanna assume that he wasn't looking to get to know her really, but more find an explanation to her personality. "Well... What exactly do you wish to know? The basics... I was born on August Sixteenth in Tokyo, Japan. I died in September twenty three years later and came to the Soul Society. Unlike some people, I am one of those who is cursed with remembering their life in the World Of The Living... If I am not answering your question... I would prefer it if you were more specific in what you are trying to ask."

Snopy raised an eyebrow as he listened. He sighed as he was aware cold was probably the wrong choice of words. Perhaps cold was the wrong choice of wording. I mean I guess you are just getting straight to the point. Snopy continued to ponder in his mind. He had gone straight to something quite personal. Her response immediately tipped Snopy off that she had misunderstood his intentions. Well I think I should back up a second. I think you have the wrong idea, and that is my fault. When I say I want to get to know you, I mean it. I think I may have jumped the gun, so to speak. Snopy sighed. He was always in a way socially awkward. Its not that he had trouble interacting, its just he wasn't good when trying to get to know people. He usually screwed up in some way, shape, or form.

Either way, he was quite good at bouncing back from his mistakes. Ok then. I guess a good place to start would be some favorites, since we have Birth date and location out of the way. Snopy had a strange way of somehow reacting to peoples thoughts in social situations. He noticed this and wished it happened in battle, it would make them so much easier. Either way, he was unaware his next questions had been in Kanna's head a moment before. It was funny to, because it was always a complete accident, a gigantic coincidence. So do you have a favorite color? Favorite food? He started off simply. He would wait to see how she responded before continuing.

"Your choice of wording is fine. You said what you meant. Do not change it because you think I might take it wrong. Honesty is something that I hold high." Kanna set her spoon down and brought a napkin to her lips, wiping anything that might have been there off, although there was nothing. Setting the napkin to the side of her dish, she was about half way done with it. She took another sip of her tea before setting it back down and continuing. "My favorite color is light blue, mainly because of the color of my eyes. My favorite food can only be found in America of the World Of The Living... at least to my own knowledge since I have not found it here. It's this thing called a taco. It's a hard shell with meet, cheese, and lettuce on the inside. I usually liked adding hot sauce and sour cream for a bit more flavor." It was obvious because of how much detail she gave about it, that she really did like tacos.

"Snopy...." her tone suddenly lowered a bit more. Before she continued, she took another bit, slowly chewed, and then swallowed. Taking one more sip of her tea, she set the cup down and looked to him. "You aren't the type of guy to attempt to act sociably. And that fact comes a bit stronger when it comes to you acting sociably with me. I highly doubt that you consider me a friend, nor do I think you're just trying to become friends. I'm sure you know of my lack of trust in practically everyone. There are only a small few that have broken through and become what I call 'friends'. So... With that knowledge... Ask me what you are actually wanting to ask me. Stop beating around the bush and come out with it."

He listened contently to her answers. He laughed a bit as she said she liked Tacos. He had lived in Japan when he was alive, but he was fully aware of what they were. Then he listened to her comments on how sociable he was. A smile began to form across his face. As she continued he started to laugh a bit. It wasn't loud, but Kanna could easily hear it. Not sociable, that was the part Snopy found the funniest. Not sociable? I can be a bit socially awkward when trying to get to know people, but by no means am I unsociable. And when I say socially awkward, I mean I just sometimes say the wrong things at first. Then he moved onto her next comment, the comment on friends. On the comment of friends you are reading me wrong. It is true, I do not consider you a friend. I do not know you well enough to call you that, and even if I did you still don't trust me.

But you are off target here. I am trying to get to know you. I don't show interest in people unless I truly want to know more about them. Except for a few exceptions, I only want to know about someone if I am trying to befriend them. I realize how difficult the task is, and yet I'm still trying. That is proof enough that I'm serious. There is your reason. Snopy just shot. He was done beating around the bush. He told her what he meant, plain and simple.
