Artist: E.S Posthumas - Song: Unstoppable - Word Count: 1714

Hayuko listened to the boys sorrowful laugh, it was the sound of a child who didn’t have self-confidence. It was the sound of a child who was being defeated by the life around him, the resonance of someone who was letting the darkness of the world slowly chip away at them. It was someone who had to fight their own battles, and realize there’s more to life than the constant struggles; that you have to get past it in order to reap the benefit of being alive. Ultimately, you have to cast those worries away and simply start dealing with them; or they’ll plague you till the moment you die

The self-pity session continued and he realized how much this Rin child has on his plate, too much for a child he was sure. “Sure, we have to worry, or else nothing would bear importance in our lives; this much is true” Hayuko said as he paused “But worries are simply worries, their pending issues that have to be dealt with. Their weights that have too be taken off as you move on; they can’t be shackles that’ll weigh you down until you have nothing left. Then you’re not living, your surviving; and there is a big difference between the two.” Hayuko said as he spoke away from rin. Not facing him directly, but speaking boldly enough so that rin could understand every word. Hopefully Rin would take something positive from his words; something he could use to develop himself, and push forward in a more positive light.

Clearly there was a big burden he had in his back, maybe somebody murdered his family and he was searching for revenge? This was something Hayuko has heard before, and it’s a burden that swallowed the last guy whole. Nothing good comes from obsessing over a goal a negative goal such as that one; Hayuko himself knew this all too well. Gladly, He saw rin’s expression ease as they continued to speak about his goal of cooking. This was the sort of thing that a child should be focusing on in the first place. Something where he could develop himself to do what he wanted, something that could enlighten others lives. Something that could make the world a brighter place, not such a dark and over bearing one. But as Hayuko continued to speak, there was a sudden change in the mood; Hayuko had unexpectedly tripped over a landmine, and he could feel it as rin’s tension began to rise.

Clearly Hayuko didn’t mean that it was funny in a literal sense. Of course discrimination was nothing to laugh at itself; but the misunderstandings caused by something so stupid as in difference in birth of color was laughable at the very least? The concept that if I was born here and you were born over there was certainly idiotic almost to a laughable point; but Hayuko forgot how young Rin was. Or even if the child was being affected by such barriers. After all he could sense the slight flames that the youngster himself was producing under his jacket. It was very faint, but Hayuko was very perceptive to powers; especially those who have similar powers to his own.

Hayuko kept silent as rin spoke and opened his mouth only at the end “Im sorry to have offended you, I didn’t mean it like that either” Hayuko said trying to soften the unintended blow he had verbally dealt to rin. Hayuko was trying to act like an elder, a mentor of some sort towards this child; as this would help the child move on in his life. Hayuko wanted to help people, albeit he generally did it indirectly. This time he was taking a more direct approach; seeming as the child needed it. And Hayuko didn’t realize he had hit it, but he had found a crack in Rin. Soon he was gushing out all of his pent up emotion, to someone he didn’t even know. That’s when he knew he had struck a nerve, of course unintentionally. But what he was saying was tied in by some strange string of fate. That of all the possibilities in this world he would be hunting for a monster. That he was hunting for the beast that was essentially Hayuko himself.

At this point he could dispel Rin as a lunatic, someone who wasn’t in the right frame of mind; mentally challenged. But this clearly wasn’t the case, these words were spoken with confidence; which is something the boy lacked from the start. They were spoken without hesitation, and soon silence befell them. Hayuko had multiple thoughts process through his head in this moment. Here was a child, burdened by something well beyond him. Something that he wasn’t even close to catching, in fact he was probably ignorant to the magnitude of what he was trying to accomplish. He didn’t realize how monstrous Satan actually was, further more; Hayuko himself was a bit shocked. This wasn’t the first time he was trying to be hunted down by a lunatic; but this time it was by a mere innocent child who was recently born. Which was strange in itself, because Hayuko hadn’t lost control in centuries. It was all very suspicious…

“So you’re a half demon” Hayuko said, as he began to piece together everything. The flames, the crack; the feeling of discrimination and hatred; and finally his motor his drive. The death of the beast from hell. Certainly Rin may have been shocked by his sudden deduction; but it was nothing surprising, it was piecing everything together. Hayuko stood, as his hood fell on top of his head once more covering half of his face as he was bearing over Rin. He knew what he had to do at this point, this was a child fighting for a petty cause; one he would never reach, and one Hayuko himself was already ironically in control of. “But you have no idea what your messing with” He said as the city suddenly felt very empty.

“Do you know who I am?” Hayuko was still bearing over rin, as his eyes began to morph from a bright red, to a stone cold black. It wasn’t a natural black color, but an endless abyss that seemed to suck inside the emptiness of the very city itself; one that seemed as It could absorb rin’s very soul. What made these abnormal black eyes even more frightening is the pupil. As you can literally see something darker moving about inside his pupils. Something that could strike fear into the heart of rin. Truly a look of the devil. “I’m a man who spends day and night trying to protect the world; People like you from dangers they can’t handle”

The atmosphere began to crash down from the strength he was releasing; creating a pressure that seemed akin to being 1000 feet underwater. The magnitude of his reiatsu itself was extremely intense, heating the atmosphere around them and causing dents in the weaker structures around them. He peered into Rin’s eyes as continued to speak “I’m a man, who deals with the truly terrifying things on this Earth so people like you can live their lives earnestly.” He said as he continued to speak towards the most likely terrified Rin. The rain water from the rain began to heat into mist at an astounding rate; he didn't apply any flames, this happened simply from Hayuko’s presence as he continued. “Shit like killing the demon from hell? Do you even realize the kind of shit your spewing? That’s a monster whose presence alone can consume you, you’re a kid whose only adding extra worries on top of himself. You’re creating shackles that don’t need to affect you; You should go back to being a chef kid, know what’s better for you.”

He said this as the literal essence of death began to decay the bus stop behind them; controlled perfectly away from Rin. He would not be hurt, but he would probably be terrified by the man in front of him. “Stuff like a demon on the inside? I’ve been cursed? Do you understand how many people live their lives with this burden. Some of them can’t hide it; you’re living in a world of self-pity. My life sucks, blah blah blah; there are plenty of people with shit they cant control, but they work hard to make their lives better. That’s what you should do; go back to becoming a chef. Hell become the best chef on the damn planet” He said as his voice changed, with a more demonic tone to it, while he spoke words only meant to help Rin. “What good would killing a demon under chains cause? Let sleeping dogs lie, or they’ll do a lot more than just bite you”

He said all of this as he was still bearing over Rin. He had said everything he needed to, the boy needed to realize that his priorities were mortally fucked up. And while this child was likely overwhelmed by Hayuko’s simple aura.. he hadn’t been releasing his strongest one out of the worry of hurting the damn kid. These was a mere fraction of his power, and the kid wanted to combat demons famed for the destruction of universes; for the slaughter of millions? He needed a reality check and Hayuko just gave him one.

“This is a mere fraction of my strength, imagine how much stronger the demon you want to slay is” Hayuko said as he began to turn “Realize what you’re saying, and that this is for your own good kid” Hayuko said as he turned and began to walk off, not expecting to be chased. He had done what he needed to for this kid: Give him a MAJOR shock. After all, he had a bright future ahead of him.

The question was, why would a child like that have a goal to slay him? The child may not have realized the demon he wanted to slay had been standing in front of him; but it was something that left plenty of questions in Hayuko’s mind.

Ironically Hayuko was a father who had tried to steer his unknowing child in the right direction... The question is; what direction will rin take?

THE ONE YEAR CONTINUATION

It’s truly ironic. The one thing Rin truly wanted was to have his own family. Yet the thing he despised the most was a truly demonic, ruthless, malignant and chaotic being. This being could also be known as his father. Yet the one offering him the best advice he could possibly hope for, the one trying to protect him the most from himself right now was also his father; albeit the human side. Fate can be such a truly uncanny thing; a cruel mistress in its own right.

You know despite Rin not knowing who Hayuko was, or vice-versa; they had quite a bit in common. In fact they had quite a lot in common. Hayuko didn’t have parents, he didn’t have family. He was bestowed upon this curse that plagues his existence since when? He couldn’t even remember it. Forced to bear the stigma of a satanic child he wandered the earth. Facing all different sort of adversities. The only difference is that Hayuko’s upbringing was much worse than rin’s. Forget discrimination, he was branded. He was the embodiment of a demon; and as such was hunted. Day after day, night after night; without rest by ruthless individuals.

You couldn’t begin to imagine what he had to go through. He lived through his own personal witch hunt before he even hit puberty. Backstabbed, betrayed by anyone he ever turned to for help; it seemed as if the whole world was out to get him. He had been chased down: beaten, stabbed, seared, you name it he’s faced it. Every time he had been chased after, he had nearly lost his life. It was a kill or be killed world for him. That’s how he manifested his power; to protect himself. He became the embodiment of a lone wolf, learning to fend for himself; realizing that the only person in this world he could trust, was himself.

That’s when he also learned he couldn’t trust himself either. Constantly being plagued by the monster trying to consume him; he developed a will of steel. He has faced more emotional agony than physical trauma; and continues to battle it to this day. The day he ever slipped up, his whole existence would be consumed by the demon sealed within his body. Every day was a struggle, it was like trying live while tied to a nuclear bomb. It takes it’s toll. To this child he spews things like “Don’t fucking lie to me”; he knew more than the child ever would. He only spoke truth’s that he himself had experienced; of course that was nothing the child would ever know; but alas that is the cruel string of fate is it not?

The overcast skies, the empty surrounding; it was all extremely ominous. It was almost like a bad omen. An omen for one of them at least.. Being a half demon wasn’t the worst thing in the world. The discrimination against them is nothing like what it used to be. The world is slowly but surely becoming more of an… accommodating place for all individuals after all. It’s not quite there yet, and it might not be for quite some time; but it’s surely better than it was a few hundred years ago. But this child was swallowed in grief. He refused to see what he had gained, or what he could do; blinded by visions of vengeance and power. Life isn’t so simple, there’s not always a need to fight. Defeating an enemy doesn’t mean your life will suddenly become better; because life isn’t one dimensional. But alas, the mind will always find a way to fixate on the useless parts of the world; because it doesn’t want to deal with the burden of other tasks.

Regardless, Hayuko knew more than enough than to let this child be burdened by himself. There were only a few things that could change this child’s direction; for better or for worse. The first was managing to actually kill the king of hell; which in itself is already an impossibility for the child, not to mention Hayuko would die along with the beast. If he was such an easy embodiment to simply kill] then Hayuko himself would have destroyed the devil himself ages ago. No if it were that easy, he would not have to leave with the burden of this seal throughout his life. Then what are the other options? Well there was only really one Hayuko could think of, and that was scarring the child mentally. Make him fear that beast so much he only can dream of giving up trying to kill it. So that’s exactly what he tried to do; it might have been abrupt but it seemed like the best choice for the kid.

He had seen the child wince and buckle away from him as well; he thought he had done enough to make the child give up; without having to actually harm him… or show him anything TOO disturbing; as he was most definitely capable of. It’s true that Rin’s mother was human, but she was dead; simply because the burden of giving birth to rin was just too much. Afterall, it was a child with a fragment of satan’s blood. It may have been a small portion of his power; but Satan’s power is extremely vast, and it was certainly too much for his human mother. An unfortunate tragedy that Rin can’t seem to accept to this very day.

Feeling just a bit sorry for the kid as he was walking away he could hear a very meek voice, but he could hear the voice very clearly ”Your wrong” it rang as Hayuko drooped his head in annoyance. Youngsters just don’t learn anything nowadays do they? Honestly Hayuko thought that he had done enough, but the sound of his rebellion had already ruined his little “life advice”. He didn’t want to deal with anything too troublesome though so he continued to walk away pretending not to hear the child. He did want to change the child’s mind; but he didn’t want to do anything too drastic.

"Satan is my bastard father and I will slaughter him in order to live a peaceful life, if you're saying that's a fraction of your power, then I'll just have to keep surpassing that fraction after fraction until we get a whole number and you're the one weaker than me." Rin didn’t stop speaking and Hayuko could do nothing but chuckle to himself mentally. Children sure liked to dream big huh? Clearly the child didn’t realize what Hayuko had shown him was but hundredth of his strength. The difference between the two of them was like heaven and earth. Clearly Rin didn’t realize that the distance from heaven to earth could only be covered by death.

Hayuko could soon hear the footsteps of Rin pounding on the floor, using as much strength as he possibly could to come towards Hayuko himself. Hayuko visibly sighed in annoyance, he could feel the spiritual pressure of rin start to change as he formed visible flames. He didn’t even need to turn around to sense that he was trying to attack him. After seeing what had just unfolded before him Hayuko wasn’t sure if rin was extremely courageous, or just an idiot. Well regardless, there was one thing that wouldn’t change. Rin was weak, extremely weak; and he his ideals will just get him killed.

Hayuko began to move suddenly, the pressure that rin was under suddenly intensified exponentially as Hayuko’s aura ran rampant through the entire city. Through a few kilometers of the city you could feel the same oceanic pressure that rin had been feeling at that very same bus stop he was at but a moment ago. Around Hayuko himself, the spiritual pressure was much more dense. So much so the earth around him began to crack. You could old weakened structures around the city begin to tumble down; which echoed through the entire city. Looking at Hayuko you could see certain demonic features began to portray themselves within his Aura. You could see two giant wings formed from his aura, seemingly made of darkness attached to his back, and a long tail that resembled a serpent out of his aura. His nails became sharper, seemingly appearing as claws, as in his teeth you could see that his canine teeth were more akin to fangs than to fangs.

All of these happening all within the few seconds rin had taken to reach Hayuko’s place. Hayuko turned his hoodie gone, revealing the horror that is.. Well Hayuko Narumi. Completely reaching speed that rin could only dream of at the moment; had waited till rin leaped to quickly step into his jump from the left and grabbing rin straight by the face. Unfortunately for rin he didn’t realize just how big the gap between him and Hayuko truly was, and wouldn’t even have a chance to escape from Hayuko’s grasp after leaping in headfirst. This was a true representation of david versus goliath as with Rin’s head in his hand, hayuko made swift movement and smashed his head to the ground.

Having pinned rin to the ground with sheer force, he may or may not have cracked his skull; he wasn’t too sure of how much forced he used, but he controlled it pretty well making sure he didn’t kill the boy. Underneath the thick of his possessed form aura, the boys body could be crushed by simply his spiritual pressure. This was the spiritual pressure of a man that could subdue an army of low tiered Shinigami with his mere presence. His ribs could be cracking under the pressure, Hayuko wasn’t too sure; so he would make it quick.

Having him pinned to the ground he peered into rin’s eyes; as the sinister movement in his eye began to violently shake. You could almost see Satan himself preparing to devour your soul, as his aura began to manifest into a gigantic satanic beast the size of a five floor building. Of course the aura was for show, it didn’t do anything special on it’s own; it was a simple mind game. It was all meant to terrify rin; who at the point, may not be able to move by the end of it. ”Overcome fraction and fraction? You child, this is still but a fraction of my power; the difference between us is like bigger than the size of this galaxy” he said as his voice itself changed, into a deep, demonic, blood lusting voice. At this point he might have even given off the impression that he was going to eat rin. Which.. he could.

”Now you’re so weak and helpless before yet another fraction of my power and you want to go suicide hunting for a demon like Satan?” He spoke in his voice, one that may traumatize Rin for the rest of his life. But that was the only way that the boy would remember the next words uttered by the Hayuko ”No man has ever won a war dying for his country. Realize what that means and leave these thoughts behind” Hayuko said in his deathly voice as all the spiritual pressure dissipated around him and he regained his normal form. Getting up he looked back down at rin, and this time knew he would stay there. He grabbed rins phone which surprisingly hadn’t taken any damage at all and dialed karakura’s own 911. Of course the phone was fine because it was specially made by the yuudeshi factory to be resilient enough under Hayuko’s spiritual pressure. Alas Hayuko was wasting too much time as he released way too much spiritual pressure any made his presence known.

He was part of the beast circle, so he could do what he pleased in karakura; but he didn’t like dealing with annoying things. So he got up before taking one last glance at rin ”Don’t the lesson you learned today kiddo, it’ll save your life later” he said as he tossed the phone onto rin’s stomach. With his number still logged onto the phone. There could be a day where he would answer that phone call, but he could always ignore it as well. Hayuko then turned and seemingly vanished using his shadow step to warp himself to another spectrum of the city.

Rin had certainly encountered an experience akin to death, but he was alive. Not crippled in any way shape or form, but definitely battered. Whether he would let this experience deter him, or spur him to something greater was only something he could decide on his own…. After the paramedics helped him out of course.
