Most people never see other peoples true selves. Most people only see whats on the surface. Unless you had some kind of power, you tend to judge people as you see them. Most people never ask "How did they get to this point, whats happened to them before?", most humans never ask this question. For example, Poliro in his current state would probably be judged as some insane pyromaniac with his aggressive and emotion fueled state. But the ultimate question is now; how did he get there?
Poliro was in the middle of his wondering the Wastelands - a place he had been for a very long time now. He had pretty much been forgotten about by most people, so he thought. The night sky was cast and it was dark now. The darkness began to instill him with negative thoughts about this. It's not a nice feeling knowing no one remembers you or even knows who you are. His thoughts began to spiral into his past, as the question no one asks came up: How did he even get here? Back in the Gotei, many remembered him by his nickname; the flame reaper. He was a Captain and a well respected master of the element of fire. Many knew him, but this status came to fall down horribly.
He was honest with himself though; he knew where he downfall truly begun from. The moment he lost the person most important to him in his life, Ayane. She was the most important person in his life to him truly. He loved her and adored her with all of his being. She was the one that made him want to get stronger and advance. But sadly, she died. At this point, Poliro couldn't even remember why. A cruel turn of fate that sent him on a downward road to where he is now.
Not to mention, during this time, Poliro ended up being contaminated with Hollow DNA with sparked a hollow to be created; transforming him into a Vizard. This power struggle and the Hollow's evil personality also caused Poliro's soul to darken in general which made his personality shift quite horribly. Time passed and he learned to control it, but because of those events, he was left scarred forever nearly, even to this day.
The next massive downfall for Poliro was his crushing defeat by the hands of Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes. He was left nearly powerless and mortally wounded - but he managed to survive thankfully. But then because of his weakness, the Gotei ejected him from his position, and gone was his power and reputation and fame. It all vanished like that. Arriving on Earth, he had no where to go, and here was now; after wondering endlessly; using all of his time to just regather himself to be ready for the world again. Here he was now, in the middle of nowhere, the wastelands.
A small tear appeared in his eye; as he asked himself a question; if Ayane or even Rola, one of his other teachers saw him how he was now, what would they say? Surely they wouldn't judge like most humans and people on this earth right? Sadly, he most likely wouldn't have the answer to that question any time soon.. As he came to a stop, taking one deep sigh.
"I'm not done... got to stop thinking like its all over."
"Why the hell did the kid haul his ass all the way out here!? Jeez!"
Now if anybody nearby had a pair of ears, or even just one ear, they could most likely hear something rather terrible. The sounds of a bellowing engine, shunting pistons back and forth, churning bars of steel to make powerful wheels spin at incredible speed. Over all of this, a single man was cursing his head off as he smacked his black afro onto the roof of the car.
"This place is too damn rigid even I can't drive properly...Gaaaaah!"
This man was Micheal Karondai, often referred to as Rola. This guy was what you might call the pinnacle of awesome and slapstick melded into one being. You could also call him a naive idiot but to most, he was a wise friend that knew how to handle every situation. Today however, he was on the prowl for someone. That certain someone being a solitary reaper that was wandering through this goddamn wasteland. A place that, in Rolas words is:
"TOO DAMN BUMPY!"
He shouted this as the car he was driivng hurled itself into the air after going off a little cliff. By little we mean something that you would probably die form falling off of. The car roared like a lion as it shot right off the edge and spiralled down below. Luckily, Rola and his car were both masters of off-road driving. The car leveled itself out and landed on all four wheels perfectly, bouncing ever so slightly and burning a path down the wasteland towards their destination. Once they spotted the man theyw er elooking for, Rola grabbed the wheel, spun it madly causing the car to spin out of control like a dog on ice-skates before abruptly coming to a stop a few feet away from the wanderer. Rola leapt out from the cockpit of his beastly red hot valkarie vehicle and stood on the bonnet, resting his hand over his eyes to block out the sunlight.
Poliro stuck in a flood of negative thoughts was swiftly dragged out of his own flood of depression as he heard the noise getting louder and louder. Something was coming towards him, and it was coming really fast! His alertness grew as he began to think; what could it be? There was way too may possibilities to what was coming. He actually grabbed his own Zapakuto in his holster, but not drawing it; he was waiting for whatever was coming to present itself. Would it be hostile, was it something coming for Poliro? Was it just a passerby in a rush? Poliro had no idea what to expect; but he didn't want to die because he was caught out like that. Readying himself to attack, he saw what was coming. His eyes widened in shock.. no. It couldn't be...?
He saw it crawl to a halt before him, still wondering what it was, but he was getting vibes from this... someone he knew. He wasn't sure but what he did know was that it was insanely loud. As the car pulled up to him, and stopped, he still seemed ready to attack just in case. But then, Poliro's eyes simply widened in shock as Rola emerged. The man that taught him, made him stronger. Was now out here. Was he seeing things or going insane? Rola would see Poliro quite tattered; his clothes a bit ripped and dirtied, aswell as Poliro having a bit of facial hair on him now because of his many months wondering.
Poliro's grip on his sword loosened as he let go, a smile coming to his face. He was very glad to see him again. This is what he needed to stop himself drowning into that sea of depression he was floating in. "Subtlety is unknown to you, sensei." He laughed a bit as he said happily as it seemed it was real. "...I thought you were dead quite honestly. After she passed away... i've not quite been the same.. I hope you understand why obviously. A lot has happened to me in your absence. But make no mistake.. i've grown tougher as a result of it." Instead of focusing on negatives, Poliro tried to talk himself up to not embrass himself to Rola. After all, he didn't want to be seen as weak after all of this time.
"The one thing I want to know; where were you when I needed you the most, when I was at the edge of mental limits when Ayane died Rola!?" He got a bit emotional for a moment, but he really wanted a answer to this question. This is when he was struggling the most in life; he had no one to help him because seemingly everyone disappeared on him. ".. I just hope it was very important to you.." seemingly dropping the question. He then followed up with another question. "You've come out here for a reason... to find me I can only guess?" he must of had his reasons after all. Time would tell him the answers to everything he wanted to know; but Poliro inside didn't want to linger on negatives. He was quite happy to see him again.
Now what you might expect is for some cool ass guy to appear with his task soldered firmly into his mind. Rola on the other hand didn't even have a task. In fact, he wasn't even here for any real reason. He just knew somebody was here and had to investigate. After standing up out of his car and posing slightly, he looked over to the man that he had found and to his amazement, it was Poliro.
"Well I'll be..."
Rola hopped off of the car and walked up to Poliro with a grand smile on his face and patted his shoulder. He then laughed heartily as he heard Poliros subtle comment. However itw as what Poliro started saying next that caused Rolas smile to quickly droop into a frown.
"I doubt you've been sittin on yer ass all this time Poliro. After all, you don' just appear in the middle of this wasteland for no reason"
It was the next comment that somewhat ticked Rola off. So he's going to drop the guilt trip on Rola after all of this time? nice move kid. Nice move.
"Geez Poliro. How long has it been? Ayane was a girl gal but people need to move on at some stage. Iv'e been off doing things in other continents for the Gotei and don't you dare think that I hadn't thought about it either. Ayane might not have been my lovey dovey cupcake but she was my student."
Rola turned from Poliro and wandered back to his car, not exactly sounding happy.
"Drop the subject kid. After over a year, it isn't worth being so glum about it. Ayane wouldn't want that now would she?"
Poliro's fist tightened up a bit as he had a bit of a emotional outbreak. It was very natural, given what he went through in the past. IT was a very powerful emotional event that changed how he was entirely; he wanted the final closure of what happened. It was a gap in his heart that was unfilled until now. He was going to also have to explain to Rola what he was doing in the Wastelands, which he would explain too, but it seems Rola was angered by Poliro's initial reaction. But Rola's words weren't going to be met with no reaction from Poliro as he was saying some provocative statements towards him.
"Drop the subject kid. After over a year, it isn't worth being so glum about it. Ayane wouldn't want that now would she?" Poliro tightened up in anger a little. "Kid!? Really?!" he took a sigh before realizing Rola might not know the extents of Poliro's power after all the time had passed. He had seemingly calmed down before moving onto the main topic; why was he here? "Well then. I'm here in these wastelands cause I have no where else!" He said coldly. "The Gotei, my so called allies and comrades kicked me out of their ranks because I lost my power for a short while bcause I had a rough fight with a man named Gilgamesh; who.. was of strength way beyond me at the time. I was left to fend for myself in these lands as i've been attacked by pathetic hollows plenty of time; they're nothing to me now. My strength Rola.. is way beyond what you or Ayane could of imagined."He grinned a bit devilishly.
Or was Poliro wrong, did they really imagine he could get to his current level, hell was Rola even aware of his strength; Poliro's passive reaitsu would be quite easy to read as insanely high even when hes not exterting it; he certainly had a strong presence. Poliro then had his own comeback question. "Why have you come looking for me then? Have the Gotei really come to get me back or what? Or is it your personal reasons? Either way mate, i'm happy to see you; I've always wanted to show you my strength now, I thought you might be impressed with it." This was perhaps Poliro trying to instigate some kind of spar between the two. But he mainly wanted to know why Rola came for him.
Rolas face became stern as he realised that Poliro probably wasn't going to drop the subject. Calling him a kid was probably the most accurate description of him in Rolas mind as the last time they met, he was still in training. He was that sort of guy that seemed to keep onto a subject and take most things to heart. If they at all impacted him, he would get mad about it. Calling him a kid was testing the waters between Rola and Poliro. Would he still be angry at being called that? Back then he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Now though, there was a clear difference in power since then. It could be felt and Rola was completely aware of it. However, Poliros personality would probably cause him to gloat and boast about his strength. It was a simple trait of the guy that Rola had gotten used to in the past but it felt somewhat withered now. His tolerance for this kind of self appreciation was thin. When Poliro explained about the Gotei and Gilgamesh, it didn't come as a surprise. Rola turned to Poliro and kept his stern expression.
"Man, I already know bout all that crap. But ain't all this still engraved into the past? I won't lie, there are settlements all cross the planet that take in spiritual beings like yourself so I question why you chose to wander this wasteland instead of taking shelter. Sure you got that Hollow in yer brain but at this stage, can't you control it?"
Rola clicked his fingers, possibly a command to get his car to move. The mechanical being began to shift round, moving wheels, screens, gears, wepaons and finally a body, a head, arms, legs. The Car transformed into a humanoid creature brandishing a stave. Its body roared with the sound of a powerful muscle car showing its strength. Rola looked on at Poliro with a grin.
"Also, Might I add that even though ya might have made a lot of progress, I haven't been sittin on ma ass either. I didn't come here for any reason except to figure out who it was that was travellin through these parts so sorry man, If I knew it was you I might have taken a quicker route"
Rola laughed, hopefully brushing away the tension that was forming. Poliro seemed to want to challenge rola but he wasn't entirely up to it. However if they must...
